OUTLINE OF THE ROLE

Work with the Trustees to devise and lead new fundraising initiatives that fulfil the objectives of the Trust's Fundraising Strategy and annual income budget, with particular focus on regular giving across all alumni, gifts from high-net-worth individuals, and legacies. This will involve:

• Developing and delivering improved communications to build a stronger connected donor network.

• Locating, engaging and retaining alumni to support and promote the Trust, focused on ensuring their long-term impact on the Trust and its beneficiaries.

• Work with the Trustees/Trust Fundraising Committee to devise and implement new fundraising initiatives.

• Work with the Trustees/Trust Fundraising Committee to identify and engage new volunteers to support the Trust's activities.

KEY TASKS

Work with the Trustees and Fundraising Committee to devise and implement the following:

• Improve communications

The Trust has a strong, growing, and engaged network of loyal alumni who already support the Trust's beneficiaries through fundraising and volunteering. However, the Trust's communications need to be improved in order to increase the numbers of donors who provide sustained financial support and inspire all donors to raise their level of donations. Continually find opportunities to engage new donors and ensure clear consistent messaging.

• Manage and maintain donor data

The Trust needs to maintain a full and accurate database of all donors and fundraising activities to support long-term tracking and inform future fundraising. This also requires networking among alumni and being vigilant to changes in alumni data.

• Research and approach alumni whose connection with the Trust has lapsed

Continue to grow the active network through researching and motivating dormant and lapsed alumni to reconnect with the Trust.

• Research untapped prospects

Research the database with a view to identifying dormant and untapped opportunities, especially regarding

high-net-worth individuals and legacies. Ensure fundraising approaches are well-targeted and informed in order to maximise the chances of success. This will expand to include non-alumni sources, including institutional sources such as foundations and other trusts.

• Ensure long-term donor connection

Communicate with all donors to demonstrate the impact they can make by showcasing the current and long-term outcome of programs. Deliver a diverse selection of communications to engage different audiences, with a clear plan for all members of the network. Ensure donors are connected to the Trust, value the Trust's activities and actively help fund opportunities.

• Reporting to the Trustees

Create an annual donor impact report to the Trustees, and other stakeholders such as alumni, that delineates donor statistics, reviews communications and events that have taken place during the past year and identifies potential prospects and events for developing in the coming year. Also provide a lower-level oral report of fundraising activities and communications to the Trustees at their quarterly meetings.

• Deliver income growth target

Acquire enough new donations to meet agreed annual income growth targets set by the Trustees.

You will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the charity and its overall objectives. For instance, organizing fund-raising specific events in different regions. This position could evolve into a full-time commitment with a support team, but at the present time, support to this role will be provided through the existing network of volunteers.

Sands offers support to anyone affected by the death of a baby. 

Our volunteers are incredible! They run peer support, community-based activity, build relationships with hospitals, run football teams, cheer at events and much more. Putting them first and enabling the activity they deliver is the primary goal of the Community and Volunteering Team.

Sands has over 120 peer support groups (run through Groups or Teams), over 100 Hospital Liaison Volunteers and many more volunteers who support with organising, running, and fundraising for local activity. The Role

First Steps ED provide person-centred support to our service users for a range of disordered eating and eating disorder presentations.

The Head of Fundraising and Communications will lead on the development and implementation of strategies to diversify and grow our income streams, strengthen our brand, and increase engagement with key audiences. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the postholder will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships across trusts and foundations, corporate partners, individual donors, and community supporters. This role will also oversee all aspects of external communications and marketing, ensuring a consistent and compelling voice for the organisation across digital, print, media, and stakeholder channels.

The Head of Fundraising and Communications will provide line management and strategic direction to the fundraising and communications team, with accountability for delivering income targets and enhancing the charity’s profile and impact.

Role Overview:
This position requires a strategic leader who will be a proactive engagement lead and support the charities overall strategy and mission. You will have a proven background of successful fundraising activities, diversifying engagement and income and cultivating key relationships through communication strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Budgets and Targets: You are directly responsible for the budgets, and income targets attached to Fundraising and Communications.
• Engagement and Income Diversification: Develop and implement strategies to diversify income streams, including legacy giving, corporate partnerships, individual donations, and major donors.
• Marketing and Communications Strategy: Create and implement strategies to reach a wider audience through innovative marketing and communications channels.
• NHS and Private Sector Opportunities: Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the NHS and private sector.
• Relationship Management: Manage key relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders.
• Team Leadership: Manage and support Fundraising, Marketing and Communications officers, ensuring alignment with fundraising goals and charity objectives overall.
• Lead our flagship campaigns: This year we are developing an online campaign, currently called Scroll Safe, to tackle the issues with online safety, we are included in the parliamentary act, and we wish this to be a multi-year campaign. It is in development for 2025, and you are expected to hit the ground running. Other campaigns include Eating Disorder Awareness Week, and Christmas.
• Digital Agency and PR Management: Oversee the work of digital agencies and PR consultant to enhance online presence and engagement with public relations and media outreach.
• Ambassadors and Patrons Management: Engage and manage relationships with ambassadors and patrons to leverage their support and influence.
• Web Development Leadership: Lead the development and maintenance of the charity's website to ensure it effectively supports fundraising and communication efforts as well as providing clear and concise support to our service users, carers and professionals.
• Manage our portfolio of events: We have an emerging trend in challenge events, and we manage these carefully and mindfully especially long-distance sporting events. This requires key insights in trends and work with our marketing team on key insights.
• Working with the CEO: You will identify opportunities for strategic communications and growth. You will network with likeminded individuals from other charities and build sector connections.
• Senior Leadership Team: You will be an integral part of our Senior Leadership Team, which means working across the whole charity on tasks that may pop up, and planning with the team our Organisational Development.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a senior fundraising and communications role, preferably within the charity sector.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Relationship Management, or a related field.

Skills:

• Strong strategic planning and implementation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in fundraising software and CRM systems.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.

Data Officer

We are looking for a Data Officer with a keen, analytical mind who is comfortable working with large datasets to be a Data Officer within the Knowledge and Insight team.

Position: SIT53 Data Officer

Location: Home-based, UK, Nationwide. However, occasional travel will be required as part of this role (may include team meetings or other work related meetings)

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Data Services, the Data Officer will meet data needs relating to the management and delivery of supporter and engagement products. You will work alongside three other Data Officers to assess, prioritise and provide solutions including the building of data selections and journeys for direct marketing purposes and the running of supporter data imports and exports.

Experience of using CRM Dynamics, Faststats and PeopleStage and or any Donor CRM for marketing purposes will make you a person of interest to us. We will support you in learning to use any of the tools and applications used and actively encourage the development of your data and analytical skills. Communication skills play a key part in this role, because you will need to be able to talk through or present selections or solutions to stakeholders.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Delivering data selections, Building automated journeys for fundraising and engagement activity to support increased income generation and supporter retention, ensuring communications are delivered to agreed Service Level Agreements.
• Providing reports and data sets to supporter product owners, managers and delivery staff to help them maximise the impact of activities.

About You

You will have a proven record of:

• Working with large datasets for marketing purposes and provide solutions and or data in response to enquiries from colleagues and other teams.
• Using a relational customer/supporter database to import and export data to and from external suppliers; including data mapping and the design of appropriate import processes.
• Use of a marketing automation tools such as Faststats and PeopleStage.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Communications Officer to help raise the charity’s profile across multiple communications channels and build supporter engagement with corporate and individual supporters, and with charity partners.

This is a remote working role.

About the Role

This role is focused on delivering established communications strategies and plans over a 12-month fixed-term period. There is scope for the Communications Officer to work autonomously and creatively across teams, helping deliver engaging content and campaigns. You will also play an exciting role in rolling out the organisations refreshed brand.

Key responsibilities include:

• Develop and deliver content and copy for digital channels, including social media, email communications and the website.
• Deliver against existing, and develop own, content plans to enhance these channels, expanding reach, and strengthening brand awareness and recognition.
• Create bespoke materials to engage  key corporate partners and engagement communities as part of a wider supporter journey, including bespoke projects.
• Produce and deliver content for events marketing plans across paid, earned, shared, and owned channels in collaboration with internal teams.
• Oversee the community management social channels.
• Work with the Programmes and Impact team to manage the case story gathering process across charity partners, creating resources like blogs, video content and creative assets to educate and inspire.
• Support and coach the wider team to adopt digital solutions across internal and external channels, using data and analytics to make recommendations for improvements, including support for the Leadership Team’s personal communications, providing guidance for the most effective use.
• Support with monitoring, and evaluating communications outputs, using data, analytics and learnings to grow digital channels and supporting audiences.
• Ensure brand guidelines adhered to in all external communications produced by third parties.

About You

With experience working in a similar role, preferably within the charity or property sector, you will also have experience of devising and developing audience focused content ideas across multiple communications channels

We are looking for someone with:

• Experience of producing content - including photography and video led creative - with copy for digital platforms including web, content management systems, social and email communications
• Experience of managing and producing story-led content.

• Experience of paid social media and using Google Analytics
