A working knowledge of major gift, corporate & trust & foundation fundraising, including identification, research, solicitation and stewardship.

We’re building a Transport Solutions Team that can work flexibly across all the tools in our delivery kit – from grants and innovation pilots to research, partnerships, and commercial interventions. This role works within a dedicated team to assess grant applications from charities and organisations applying to the Motability Foundation for grant-funding to support their work in the disability transport sector. 

This is an opportunity to join a collaborative, purpose-led team driving change in the transport system for disabled people and to work on some of the most interesting and impactful projects in the sector. 

What you will be doing:

• Manage grant delivery, including assessment, due diligence, contracting, monitoring, and closure, across our funding rounds.  
• Engage with all levels of applicant and grantee organisations to understand their work, assess their proposals, and provide support and challenge to strengthen delivery and outcomes. 
• Undertake financial, reputational, governance, and operational due diligence in line with our policies and risk appetite.

Your experience:

• Experienced in assessing, managing, monitoring and evaluating grant applications or similar roles related to charitable grant making. 
• Understanding of not-for-profit structures, including charities, social enterprises and other not-for-profit organisations. 
• Experience in writing a variety of styles including academic, reports, and impact.
• Demonstrable ability to prioritise when faced with a continuous flow of applications and variable work load.
• Experience of effectively engaging at all levels within applicant organisations leading discussions where necessary. 
• Good with numbers, and the ability to understand and interpret budgets and accounts.
• Able to engage with grant applicants and build an ongoing positive rapport. 
• Strong IT skills including experience working with the MS Office suite.

Travel Requirements:

This role will require circa 6 weeks of UK travel per year to deliver our residential courses. Each course is up to one week in duration.

The role holder may be asked to travel internationally to deliver training programmes in support of our global team of affiliates and volunteers, unlikely to exceed 2 weeks in duration.

This role may also be infrequently required to deploy as part of a ShelterBox project delivery team, working alongside our programme partners. These deployments are unlikely to exceed 2 weeks in duration.

Main role and responsibilities

As Training Manager, you will be responsible for the development, planning and delivery of ShelterBox's core training calendar. This encompasses our range of mandatory and compliance training courses, alongside our residential training programmes and any other programmes as decided in collaboration with the Head of Learning and Development. Through careful planning, budgeting and engagement with key stakeholders across the organisation, you will ensure the core calendar and associated training content is relevant to the evolving business needs and is able to be accessed by all who require it. You will ensure the stewardship and maintenance of our training resources, and relationship management of key contacts at our training venues and volunteers to enable long-term, sustainable delivery of our programmes. In addition, you will support the delivery of other L&D solutions as required by other organisational requirements.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

• Annual planning of our core training calendar in-line with the business planning and budgeting cycle
• Development and management of the budget to enable the delivery of the core training calendar in-line with the budgeting cycle and promoting the best value-for money
• Planning and delivery of the Travel Security Training programme in-line with the requirements of the Deployable Personnel Minimum Training Standards Policy
• Planning and delivery of the We Are ShelterBox programme in-line with the induction pathway and business need
• Working with the People Assistant, ensure the management of all course and participant logistics including travel, accommodation and expenses.
• Scheduling and delivery of all compliance and mandatory training programmes including, but not limited to: GDPR; Cyber Security; Anti-Money Laundering; Anti Bribery; Payment Card Industry; First Aid; Trauma Risk Management; Fire Marshall, Etc.
• Maintenance and resupply of all training resources required to deliver our core calendar programmes, including inventory management of our 40ft shipping container.
• Business partnering with key risk owners such as Head of Legal and Risk, IT Service and Security Manager, Facilities Manager, and Head of Security to ensure our compliance needs are being met with the course content we have available, amending as necessary.
• Track and report on the compliance of our people against our mandatory and compliance programmes, feeding into the People and Risk Committee papers.
• Manage all risk assessment and mitigations processes for our training programmes, ensuring they are up to date, relevant to the risks faced on our programmes and our compliance with them.
• Support the management of the Qualsafe-registered "ShelterBox Training Centre" that enables the delivery of in-house first aid qualifications.
• Deliver Qualsafe-regulated, in-house first aid training as well as developing and delivering austere first aid training packages relevant to our work in high-risk environments.
• Develop and manage relationships with external service providers and volunteers to enable the sustainable delivery of our residential training programmes.
• Work with the learning management system to ensure all learning initiatives are tracked and monitored for completion.
• Support the delivery of capacity sharing initiatives with our programme partners in high-risk locations as required by the Programme Delivery team.
• Support the delivery of corporate and donor engagement events as required by the Philanthropy and Partnerships team

About the role

Medact is hiring for the new role of Fundraising Manager: Trusts & Grants to secure grant funds for the organisation over a critical one-year period. The new Fundraising Manager will be responsible for completing applications already in the pipeline, and then setting out a plan to apply for as many successful grants as possible in the period and delivering it.

The successful candidate will work closely with the senior leadership team and our programme staff, to identify, develop and write grant proposals to relevant funders, for both restricted and unrestricted income streams.

This is a skilled role but you don’t need to have had a job in an NGO before or be a professional campaigner to be right for it. You might have successfully fundraised for a local community organisation or a grassroots campaign on a social justice or health issue that you care about.

More than 100,000 free dressing up costumes worth £1.34 million were delivered to children from low-income families. By enabling participation in events like World Book Day, we helped spark imagination, joy, and belonging for children who might otherwise feel left out—boosting self-esteem and supporting a positive connection to learning.Furthermore, helping attract children into school on a day which often sees struggling parents keep their children at home.

Alongside these national campaigns, Parentkind supports families year-round through a growing suite of programmes designed to inform, prepare and empower parents. Our Be School Ready programme offers crucial guidance and confidence to parents preparing their children for the leap into primary education. With a mix of practical advice, developmental tips, and reassurance, through the distribution of 150,000 copies of Be School Ready and an online campaign, it supports families at one of the most formative moments in their child’s life.

We also deliver a wide-ranging series of live expert webinars and parent-friendly resources, covering topics such as managing anxiety, supporting special educational needs, navigating school transitions, and building home-school partnerships. These resources, developed in consultation with experts and rooted in lived parent experience, equip families to feel informed and empowered, no matter what challenges arise.

Our direct support of schools

Our collaboration with Asda on Cashpot for Schools is another example of unlocking support at scale. This innovative community-led funding model allowed shoppers to nominate and fund their local schools simply through everyday spending. This campaign has generated £5.78 million for schools during the past twelve months, supporting everything from basic classroom supplies to vital extracurricular programmes and pupil wellbeing initiatives. Also shortlisted for a Business Charity Award, it is already a model for community-driven philanthropy.

In April, we launched our Parent-Friendly Schools Accreditation Programme, designed to formally recognise schools that go above and beyond in fostering positive, inclusive relationships with parents. The accreditation celebrates schools that actively listen to parent voices, make engagement easy and accessible, and embed family partnership in their culture. It is a practical and inspiring tool to drive long-term change in the sector and offers a roadmap for schools wanting to strengthen their community.

Our focus on Policy & Research

Our work is grounded in evidence. Since 2023, we have conducted the UK’s largest annual parent survey: the National Parent Survey. With approaching 6,000 participants providing 130,000 bits of data to provide invaluable insights into the struggles, concerns, hopes and fears of parents. The findings are fed directly into government consultations and have already informed national debates on school funding, attendance, mental health support, SEND provision, and curriculum reform.

In each of the past two years the number of policymakers, educators, parents and researchers accessing the National Parent Survey exceeded seven thousand, and the survey featured in more than two hundred media outlets each year. In addition to the National Parent Survey, Parentkind undertakes representative polling of parents throughout the year on a variety of important topics, which increasingly find exposure in the media and policy discussion.

Parentkind provides the secretariat for the Westminster APPG for Parents and the Stormont APG for Parental Participation in Education. Two very successful parliamentary groups bringing together policymakers and a variety of stakeholders to consider the challenges faced by parents and act as a voice for them through a variety of policymakers.

Our Media Engagement

Since becoming recognised as the UK’s largest parent charity, with likely more groups and frontline volunteers than the Scouts or Girlguiding, Parentkind has gained increasing prominence in the media.Beyond the reach of the National Parent Survey and our regular polling, Parentkind receives frequent requests for quotes of reflection and input by media in relation to their journalism and from Government and non-Government entities in support of policy announcements.

Beyond this, the Parentkind community of volunteers and PTAs share local or regional media announcements of their own.Whether or not it celebrating the completion of large projects they have invested countless hours and thousands of pounds into realising, or the community event they have worked into the night to deliver for their school communities.

It will be your role to take this much further, gaining increasing exposure for the work of Parentkind, its community, and parents more broadly.

• Someone with a “nose for news” and an understanding what makes a newsworthy opinion poll that will hit the headline and go big on social media. 
• We are a small, fast paced team, there are no line management responsibilities attached to the role. We’re looking for someone with a “roll up your sleeves up and get on with it” mentality.
• Being able to demonstrate you can sell our parent voice research and amazing existing data to media across broadcast, social media and print media 
• Being able to lead and deliver a plan to raise our profile on social media, broadcast and in print media
• A good understanding of the challenges faced by children and families, education debates and education policy, we are the voice of parents.
• We are a cross party charity and we work with all parties, we want someone who understands that approach and brings it to their work.
• Someone who can to respond to social media debates at pace and make sure are part of the debate.
• Experience of writing compelling written documents when 100 words would make a stronger case than 1,000. You can bring evidence to life and make an argument to convince.
• Someone with experience of appearing on broadcast media and willing to be a ‘talking head’ for Parentkind as required. This is not essential, but it would be great to have someone willing to do this.

Your mission is to massively increase our online, in print and social media presence with a specific focus on policy, research and impact, to make us the highest profile parent charity in the UK. We have a huge amount of data on what parents think and we need you to get it seen. This is a great job for someone who wants to grab hold of a “comms” function and make it their own.

We’re hiring for a passionate and supporter focused individual to join our legacy marketing team. As the first point of contact for some of our most valued supporters, you’ll help refer them to have their Will written for free, answer questions or arrange a special tour of the hospital. You’ll also take on a key role to ensure the smooth running of our legacy marketing campaigns and events.

This role is known internally as Legacy Marketing Executive. 

Salary

The salary for this position is £33,234 and we operate a hybrid working policy of a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact (telephone and email) for supporter calls and enquiries for the Legacy Marketing team. 
• Collaborate with the Supporter Relations team to manage queries. 
• Process third party invoices for approval, tracking against expenditure log. 
• Provide exceptional customer service and supporter guidance.
• Provide administration and event management support for legacy events.

About the Team

Sitting in the wider Fundraising Directorate, this role sits within our small but mighty Legacy Marketing team, which is part of our wider Legacy and Donor Development team (who look after our cash and raffle programmes). Legacy Marketing is the top fundraising priority at GOSH Charity meaning we have huge ambitions and healthy investment in our fundraising area. 

Our Greenwich Counselling Service, including our culturally specific African/African-Caribbean service, has been offering free counselling to Greenwich borough residents for more than 40 years. It has grown organically from telephone counselling and crisis intervention to longer term and culturally-specific counselling and relationship work. Counselling sessions are delivered by our dedicated and highly professional volunteer counsellors, as well as a small team of counselling coordinators. We consider accessibility, responsiveness, and a client-centred approach to be the key strengths of our service.

We are currently seeking an African/African-Caribbean Counselling Service Coordinator who will work directly with clients as well as managing and supervising the team of volunteer counsellors. You will work closely with the Clinical Leads and other members of the clinical team.

You will lead on strengthening our grants processes and systems, and work collaboratively with colleagues across Charity Finance, Fund Advisors, Divisional Directors, and the wider team to ensure funds make a real difference where they are needed most.

A key part of this role involves working in partnership with St George’s Hospital Charity on joint funding opportunities and shared initiatives across our hospital group.

This role will deputise for the Head of Charity when required and represent the Charity across all areas, not limited to Grants. You will be ready to step up and take on broader responsibilities as needed.
