The Diocese of Coventry is seeking to appoint a full time Programme Manager to play a key role in helping the Diocese deliver its ambitions for making and growing new disciples.

Background

Chapter One is a dynamic, growing charity with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive. Our mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most. We work in eleven areas/regions of the UK and will support 3000 children in 2023-24.

Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme pairs struggling five to seven-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who are working professionals. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.

From a school perspective, online reading volunteers provide direct, meaningful literacy support for up to 10 pupils per class. The programme is particularly suitable for communities where it might be challenging to find parents and other volunteers who can commit to physically visiting schools to boost reading.

Job Summary

Chapter One is seeking a West Cumbria Programme Manager who is an excellent communicator and is able to both motivate and support schools and teachers to implement our online reading volunteers programme, and also to ensure that the programme’s impact and benefit to disadvantaged communities is maximised throughout the academic year.

The post is ideal for someone looking for part-time, flexible, term-time only work from a home base and who is able to travel frequently around West Cumbria. The postholder will be joining a team of established Programme Managers (also part-time) who work in different parts of the UK and will need to have some flexibility to work additional hours during busy autumn months, and conversely to work fewer hours during quieter periods of the year.

Key Responsibilities:

• Effectively explain Chapter One’s online reading volunteer programme and its benefits to school leaders and teachers

• Install, setup and maintain Chapter One equipment in participating classrooms

• Fully understand the operation of the Chapter One platform and database and communicate this to others

• Organise and conduct initial teacher training and follow-up

• Ensure a smooth initial launch of Chapter One’s programme in every classroom

• Liaise with colleagues performing technical and volunteer support roles

• Through regular visits to/contact with schools, provide on-going embedded professional learning and support to teachers throughout the year as needed

• Proactively monitor classroom adherence/fidelity to the Chapter One model, including systematic review of data reports and volunteer feedback, taking proactive action to resolve problems that arise

• Analyse and manipulate data (largely in Google sheets) to produce reports and identify trends

• Create monthly data summaries for all participating classrooms

• Lead annual review meetings for senior leadership at participating schools

• Support programme monitoring, evaluation and research as required

• Coordinate in person and virtual school ‘visits’ of volunteer teams to classrooms where necessary

• Liaison with corporate partners as required

• Weekly communication and status updates with Senior Programme Manager(s) and wider team

• As a new school year approaches, secure commitments from returning schools and find and target new schools to join Chapter One’s programme

We’re looking for a Country Manager who is, at heart, a peacebuilder. You will be someone willing to lead by your example, coaching, inspiring and giving technical support as you spend time with peacebuilding teams across the north of CAR, including three Hub Peacebuilding Managers in local offices in the borderlands, up to eight programme officers and over 300 local peacebuilders who form our Advisory Groups.

Living in Bangui, you’ll report directly to the Regional Director and work collaboratively as a key part of the Regional Leadership Team to shape the strategic direction of Concordis’ future work across the Central African region.

The needs in CAR are immense, and we need you to have the vision and motivation to look beyond programme delivery, as important as that is, and to identify new opportunities and new funding for additional programming. You’ll support the team as they design, develop and source funding for new work that will a deliver measurable change for peace.

You will be someone who is curious and keen to spend time with people in the borderlands, where conflict is fought and felt. You will also have the confidence and ability to be part of high-level meetings with ministers and ambassadors, amplifying voices that are often ignored by decision makers, leading to evidence-based, conflict sensitive policy making.

Role Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for technical peacebuilding aspects of Concordis’ work in CAR

• Responsible for leading on all aspects of peacebuilding in delivering an ambitious but realistic borders programme to time and to budget, meeting all contractual requirements of the donor
• Responsible for providing managerial oversight in developing and delivering strategic work plans in accordance with donor log frames to achieve delivery of all activities and outcomes, reporting on these to the donor
• Develop opportunities to use the significant flexibility built into this contract to maximise impacts for peace, beyond pure contractual terms, negotiating these with the donor
• Visionary leadership with the staff team, key stakeholders and international donors to identify gaps in peacebuilding provision and to develop opportunities for future work that will meet identified needs, be locally owned and deliver measurable impact

Influence policymaking and advocacy

• Represent Concordis in CAR with high-level engagement with local, national, regional and international decision makers, using evidence from the programme to influence policymaking
• Build and maintain relationships with key decision makers, then use this access to amplify voices that are often ignored, engaging with Government officials, Diplomatic staff, Regional bodies that support Central African countries (eg COMIFAC, ECCAS, CEMAC, OFAC etc), UN and multilateral agencies and humanitarian and developmental staff
• Participate actively in regional conferences and negotiations to ensure that the voices of people in the borderlands are heard, and that locally-led and conflict sensitive solutions are reflected in strategic decision-making

Responsible for strategic programme development

• Building and maintain relationships that may lead to new funding opportunities from bilateral, multilateral and other institutional donors
• Provide strategic support to fundraising providing timely information to support the development of new bids and engaging directly with donors

Leadership responsibility in the Regional Team

• Member of the Central African Regional Senior Leadership Team and will lead the CAR Country Senior Leadership Team supported collaboratively by the CAR Finance Manager
• Responsible for line managing three Peacebuilding Hub Managers
• Responsible for giving coaching, mentoring and technical support to the peacebuilding team in CAR, inspiring them in their roles and focusing their efforts to deliver rapid and sustainable results, whilst ensuring that staff development needs are met
• Promote clear lines of communication between staff members and offices, across the Central African Regional programme and with staff in the UK. Lead or participate in a system of team meetings, one-to-ones and informal gatherings
• Responsible for ensuring that staff development needs are met including training and appraisals
• Responsible for ensuring that CAR project staff understand and adhere to staff safety, security policies and plans and that such plans are kept up to date. Closely monitor the security dynamics in target areas and report to the Regional Director on significant changes in the security context
• Work collaboratively with finance staff to manage project resources, prepare project budgets, review and monitor spending and submit regular reports to the donor
• Work with Regional Head of MEAL to prepare regular donor reports to the donor

Programme Manager role

We are now looking for an enthusiastic and committed Programme Manager(s) to join our existing Programme Team in September 2024 on a full or part-time basis (6-month fixed-term with potential to extend).  As a Programme Manager, you will be responsible for managing the Yes Futures programmes in-person, in our partner primary and secondary schools in North London, Essex, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire & Buckinghamshire.

Main Responsibilities

You will be one of a small team of Programme Managers, dedicated to delivering excellent programmes which make a positive difference to the lives of students.  The main responsibilities of the Programme Manager role are:

Programme delivery

• Responsible for the care and wellbeing of all students in your schools on the programme;
• Communicating with parents where necessary during the programme, by email, letter and telephone;
• Planning and delivering whole-group workshops for students;
• Planning and delivering information and celebration events for students and parents;
• Facilitating the in-person and online volunteer coaching team to deliver student coaching sessions. As well as delivering coaching sessions to students, where required;
• Developing business and charity partnerships for day trips;
• Planning and delivering the day trips included in the programme;
• Supporting the planning and delivery of the Into the Wild and World of Work day trips;
• Implementing discipline procedures, including reporting serious discipline issues;
• Implementing all necessary Health and Safety and Child Protection procedures, including recording and reporting any incidents;
• Ongoing communication with the school and Yes Futures head office regarding student engagement and progress.

Organisation and administration

• School onboarding, including ensuring that dates are planned, students are recruited and parental agreements are returned;
• Planning and organising the logistical elements of the programme (timetables, activities, sessions plans etc) through liaising with Yes Futures head office, school staff, businesses, charitable organisations and the rest of the Coaching team;
• Creation of Risk Assessments, parent letters and programme-related documents for schools;
• Sourcing materials needed for programme sessions, including lunches for trips;
• Assisting with finance and petty cash where required.

Management of volunteer Yes Futures Coaches

• Managing and developing the skills of your Coaching teams (usually 2-6 adults per school);
• Ongoing communication with your Coaching teams, to foster their enthusiasm and commitment;
• Supporting Coach recruitment for future programmes;
• Supporting the planning and delivery of training for Coaches;
• Maintaining accurate and secure records of Coaches’ personal information, absences, sickness and other relevant information.

Evaluation and reporting

• Facilitating the pre-, mid- and end of programme evaluations;
• Oversight and input of key student monitoring data and impact data;
• Debriefing and ongoing feedback collection from schools and Coaches;
• Ensure all work is carried out in an effective and timely manner to support continued high standards of the Yes Futures programmes.

Programme Managers will also be given the opportunity to support with other Head Office functions, including but not limited to:

• Strengthening our strategy, programme design and theory of change;
• Supporting the marketing of Yes Futures to new schools and customers;
• Developing our fundraising strategy through bid writing and other fundraising tasks;
• Establishing relationships with key partner organisations;
• Planning our future Ambassador offer and other pilot programmes.

Role Purpose

ShelterBox is searching for an experienced humanitarian professional with previous programme management experience to join our agile and effective International Programmes Department. This is a transformational and impactful role. The successful candidate will manage urgent priority activities and international programmes/projects within a specific country, ensuring we deliver high quality, impactful outcomes at speed and scale for the people we support.

Reporting to the Regional Director, the Programme Manager Asia / MENA will be responsible to support the establishment and management of new and existing emergency and protracted ShelterBox programmes within the region. Aligning with wider regional strategy, the Programme Manager will create a longer-term strategic vision and direction for continuing support within their designated area of responsibility. They will also lead on strategic humanitarian relationships within this area to help maximise ShelterBox’s programme impact and influence.

This role will also work closely with the Programme Quality team, to continue to measure the quality and impact of our work. The Programme Manager will also support a programme funding strategy for their designated area of responsibility, working closely with the Programme Funding team in developing sustainable programmatic funding opportunities.

The role will likely have a strong focus on a portfolio of 2-3 countries within the region. The Asia / MENA region within ShelterBox currently consists of Bangladesh, Philippines, Pakistan, Palestine (Gaza), Syria and Yemen. The role will likely have a strong focus on Yemen with additional countries to be determined dependant on both existing portfolio and new emergencies in the region. Regular travel throughout the Asia / MENA region is expected.

The role will also encompass high-level relationship building and advocacy with partner organisations to consolidate the reputation and position of ShelterBox within the humanitarian sector.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

• Establish and manage programmes within assigned area in line with the organisational and regional strategy. Working closely with the Regional Director to ensure quality, timely, impactful, and on-budget programme/project implementation.
• Creation of the strategic vision and direction. Work closely with the Programme Funding Team to build the appropriate Business Development strategy to secure the resources necessary for realisation.

• Ensure leadership and management processes enable ShelterBox to effectively adapt to contextual changes and remain current on national and regional issues impacting the country programmes and partners.
• Initiate and sustain strong, mutually beneficial, and authentic partnerships with local and international organisations.
• Work closely with the Safety & Security Team to prioritise the safety of our teams and our deployments. Adapt to evolving issues that could adversely affect ShelterBox staff or programme delivery.
• Maintain effective and coordinated budget management, working closely with the Programme Funding team and Finance team. Ensure monitoring processes are in place for grant funds/donor specific requirements.
• Prioritise ‘do no harm’ principles. Ensure those who encounter ShelterBox as a result of our activities are safeguarded from deliberate or inadvertent actions and failings which place them at risk of abuse, sexual exploitation, injury, and any other harm.
• Maintain exacting standards in all aspects of ShelterBox’s activities so that the reputation of the organisation is protected in the view of donors, partners, and the people we support.
• Support networking and coordination with non-governmental organisations, governments, coordination mechanisms, and other actors.
• Lead on aspects of emergency preparedness within the region.
• Through both remote and surge support, take a leading role in emergency responses within the Asia / MENA region.
• Lead a culture which actively promotes improvements in its practices, processes, and outcomes, across all aspects of its work, seeking feedback from all stakeholders.
• Provide timely updates to Regional Director/Deputy Director/International Programmes Director on programme/project delivery and impact.

About Routes

Routes exists to grow the resources of refugee and asylum seeking women to ensure that they have equal access to jobs and education in the UK. Our vision is of a future where people seeking safety in the UK are afforded access to opportunities and networks that they need to build meaningful and fulfilling lives, the ability to choose their future path, and the resources they need to reach their full potential.

We achieve our objective through three programmes:

• 1:1 Mentoring: a four month programme offering 1:1 mentoring, networking opportunities, skills workshops, and practical support. The programme connects refugee women with mentors in a unique mutual mentoring programme that supports both mentors and mentees to learn and grow from each other. We provide training for mentors to ensure that the support they provide mentees is high quality, and to offer a learning experience for them too. For mentees, the mentoring is supplemented by workshops covering topics like self advocacy and public speaking, wrap-around support, check-in calls, casework, and access to a comprehensive resource database.

• Research: Routes is conducting research into how to create systemic change for women refugees facing unemployment in London. This includes looking into apprenticeship schemes, funded training programmes and business partnerships to create employment pathways. The outcomes of this research will feed into Routes’ wider work as the findings develop. 

• Alumni support: designed to support our growing community of graduates from the mentoring programme with their continued development towards their goals, this includes bursary opportunities with City and Guilds Foundation, free comparability statements for qualifications gained abroad through ECCTIS, career talks with the aim of raising awareness and aspirations, jobs list to circulate opportunities, workshops for continued skills development and more.

We are currently a team of five, who all work part time (mix of three and four days a week). We are motivated by investing in people and potential; we don’t just accept things as they are and are always open to learning how to make things better. Working from the office is a requirement of this role, but we all work hybrid so there is the option to work from home some of the week if you would like to. 

About the programmes you’ll manage

Mentoring Programme

The Routes Mentoring Programme has been running since 2018. We run currently two Mentoring Programmes a year, supporting 60 mentees, and we pride ourselves in delivering this programme in a way that centres autonomy, care, and learning and development.

You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth delivery of the mentoring programme for our mentees and mentors. Routes mentees are women from refugee and asylum seeking backgrounds with goals to do with their personal and professional development. You will take the lead in managing their journey through the programme from recruitment, matching, onboarding, programme events, support throughout the programme, offboarding, and impact measurement. 

Routes Mentoring Programmes are designed to create relationships that are supportive, equal and empowering. We take care to fully understand each person’s goals and aspirations, so that we find them a mentor who can support on their goals. We know that a one-size-fits-all approach does not work, which is why the 1:1 support of a mentor can be so transformative. 

Routes mentors are women from our partner organisations across sectors. We provide extensive training in coaching and mentoring tools and techniques that they can use for their mentoring and beyond in their professional lives, ensuring that the programme is a learning opportunity for them too. Role description

Lead the delivery team to deliver joyful and impactful learning for children on our programmes:

• Lead the improvement of learning to grow the impact of our flagship virtual programme and meet our organisational impact targets;
• Drive innovation and keep the team connected to best practice in digital pedagogy and literacy teaching;
• Enable the team to maintain the impact of the Hackney Learning programme;
• Set termly programme aims and content.

• Pro-actively create a culture of reflection and iterative improvement driven by data insights:

• Lead a data driven culture of improvement that incorporates practitioner reflections, user experience insights, impact results, quality assurance results and other monitoring insights;
• Deliver a systematised process for reflection and improvement including half termly insight meetings;
• Ensure the timely collection of data to assess the programme including impact, quality assurance, user experience and monitoring data;
• Deliver quality assurance activities including session walks which monitor the fidelity and quality of Session Leader delivery and support personal development.

This role provides a great opportunity to assist the Programme Manager in setting up and managing an exciting new audit programme using innovative methodologies to support services for people with an eating disorder.

Within the College Centre for Quality Improvement, we run an exciting programme of NHS-funded national clinical audits, including the National Audit of Eating Disorders, which will provide important data to drive forward improvements in care for people with an eating disorder. We are seeking dynamic and proactive person for the Deputy Programme manager role.

The successful candidate will have experience in project management and quality improvement in healthcare and/or clinical audit and will have a keen interest in data analytics. They will line manage staff, develop and deliver project plans and support the Programme Manager in delivering all aspects of the project, including developing sampling methods and producing national reports.

This role is fully funded for three years.

This role is hybrid. The successful applicant will be required to work at our Bradbury House location on 2 Fridays each month when we run our drop-in and hold operational meetings. Purpose of role

To manage the annual programme of the PPA psychoanalytic psychotherapy qualifying training and the Advanced Clinical Course. To promote and grow the trainings. To manage the budget and collect and report on performance management data. To track all trainees’ progress, to ensure the smooth running of all elements of the teaching provision and to liaise and work in collaboration with the PPA training committee (TC), curriculum committee (CC), selection committee (SC) and post graduate committee (PGC).

Key responsibilities

1) To oversee and manage the delivery of the annual programme of the PPA trainings in collaboration with the TC and PGC.

a) Booking clinical, theory and group seminar leaders in collaboration with TC and PGC.

b) In liaison with the Director of Marketing, Communications and Engagement place adverts for supervisors, teachers, and group leaders as appropriate.

c) Ensure that trainees and TC have an up-to-date list of Training Analysts, Training Supervisors and Approved Therapists

d) Room booking for all aspects of the programme.

e) Annual review, update and production of handbooks and all written materials for course.

f) Collaboration with the library to track reading list production.

g) To be the first point of contact in cases of emergency.

h) To collect, collate and report on trainee feedback.

2) To oversee the annual trainee selection for the trainings.

a) To be the first point of contact for potential applicants, giving out appropriate information about the trainings and passing appropriate inquiries onto the training advisors.

d) Ensure consistent messaging about PPA trainings across internal and external communications.

e) To have oversight of the cycle of reaccreditation with the BPC.

5) To ensure effective administrative and financial management of PPA trainings.

a) To take lead on ensuring all communication with trainees is up to date including collection of fees, sending out handbooks, curriculums, all training materials, and dates.

b) To work with the Director of Corporate Services to oversee and maintain budgetary control of both trainings.

c) To work with the Director of Corporate Services to provide management reporting data.

d) To collect and report on data collection of protected characteristics.

e) To provide budget updates to the training committee.

f) To recommend and implement improvements to PPA training admin systems and processes.

g) To manage all payments from trainees and to teaching staff.

6) To work with all PPA committees to maintain the functioning and growth of the PPA association.
