Job description

Ablaze is looking for an experienced and motivated project manager to initiate, broker, monitor and maintain the provision of Ablaze programmes in primary schools in accordance with the mission and objectives of the charity. The successful candidate will be able to show they have the knowledge and experience to support the running of projects against specified and ambitious deliverables.

Ablaze is an independent charity that exists to tackle inequality of opportunity for young people in the West of England region. We do this by utilising the skills and commitment of business volunteers on a variety of programmes with young people aged 7-18.

We aim to

  • empower them with knowledge to make informed choices about their future

Job Description

The Project Manager, working to the Ablaze CEO, will work closely with the Administrator on the running and management of the Primary programmes.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • To initiate, broker, monitor and maintain the provision of Ablaze programmes in primary schools in accordance with the mission and objectives of the charity.
  • To build and maintain sustainable relationships with businesses to attract and recruit volunteers
  • To support businesses and schools to ensure co-ordination arrangements are effective
  • To negotiate, put in place and administer appropriate charges and subscriptions with businesses and schools to ensure budgeted income is realised
  • To maintain databases and records of stakeholders in support of the delivery of the programmes
  • To carry out a regular risk assessments and safeguarding checks
  • To provide detailed, regular output reporting
  • To carry out regular reviews of outcomes and progress, and ensure evaluation processes take place, are summarised and fed back to relevant parties
  • To carry out visits and meetings to schools and businesses on the programme as required
  • To provide training and support to volunteers
  • To work with the CEO on the development of the programme
  • To produce an annual strategic delivery plan for the programme, monthly updates on progress and delivery and an end of year report

Person Specification

Essential

  • At least 3 years' experience working in the charitable or education sector on projects for young people in a relevant setting (e.g. teaching, youth work)
  • Local knowledge of the education, youth services and/or voluntary sector and the regional economy
  • A proven track record in delivering programmes for young people
  • Demonstrable ability to work to and meet challenging targets and outputs
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
  • Excellent communication skills with a variety of audiences
  • Proven relationship management experience
  • Experience of co-ordinating training, workshops or equivalent
  • Demonstrable commitment to widening aspirations and promoting social mobility in young people
  • Proficient IT skills
  • Initiative, flexibility and enthusiasm for the task
  • Own transport and a willingness to travel

Desirable

  • Knowledge of impact data collection, reporting and analysis
  • Knowledge of volunteering and its benefits to businesses
  • Selling experience both face to face and cold calling
  • An understanding of social responsibility policy and practice
