The Middlesbrough Programme on Gendered Poverty is an exciting collaborative programme bringing together Buttle UK, the Smallwood Trust and Turn2us to test whether a co-produced & collaborative approach to grant-making can transform the lives of women and their children.
The programme aims to:
- Shift power to people worst impacted by gendered poverty and work to end gendered poverty
- Develop the programme using co-production techniques so that the voices and experiences of the women and their children, who face issues created by gendered poverty, inform and shape the programme
- Deliver the programme with and to communities of the most marginalised women and their children
- Apply an evidence-based approach to our work and programme design
- Use grants as a primary response and tool, effectively and efficiently
- Learn as we go and work to understand how intersections of inequality impact on our grant making
- Identify opportunities to influence other grant makers and policies to support wider system change.
We are seeking an energetic, organised and passionate Programme Manager who will work with us to take this programme to the next level. We want this project to be led and informed by the women affected by gendered poverty because we know it will help us have a greater impact and shift power.
The Programme Manager sits with Turn2us’ Local Programmes Team alongside two other programmes working with communities to achieve financial security for all.

The role
You will be supporting the Finance Team for CIPD and a key player tasked with producing accurate financial data to enable effective decision-making across the business.
What you’ll be doing
- Using accounting system to process and manage financial transactions related to CIPD UK and CIPD Enterprises and potentially other entities within the group. Posting transactions and month end journals in NetSuite including prepayments, accruals and revenue deferrals.
- Day to day accounting activities include managing transactions in the ledger, ensuring coding is accurate and adjusting miscoding before the month end to minimise time it takes to close the month.
- Working with others in the finance team and in teams across the business to ensure month end reporting is accurate, on time and all appropriate journals are supported.
- Completing revenue reconciliations between Netsuite and other source systems to ensure deferred and accrued income is accurate. Working with the systems accountant and financial accountant where necessary to complete this.
- Reconciliation of the Purchase Order System and goods receiving. Working with areas around the business to ensure accurate transaction recording.
- Production of the management accounts.
- Preparing supporting documentation for the year-end audit and liaising with external auditors.
- Providing support to Finance Business Partners within operational finance and operational queries from wider commercial business.
- Supporting Finance Business Partners in the budgeting and forecasting process.
What you’ll need to be successful
- Accounting experience in a similar role, with a focus on ERPs such as Oracle (NetSuite), SAP, Microsoft
- Part-qualified accountant preferred (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent)
- Advanced knowledge of Excel (sumifs, pivot tables, vlookups) and experience of working with accounts systems
- Demonstrate integrity, a strong work ethic and a sense of urgency in executing and completing tasks

This is a challenging and busy role supporting the delivery of the Financial Inclusion programme across the UK, including support for Financial Inclusion projects under the Scotland team. About the role

Our Origin Tenants' Voices (OTV) project has been working in the Somers Town area of the London Borough of Camden with Origin Housing tenants for almost 2 years now.
Having obtained more Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding from the Council, we can now employ someone to work in the ward for 3 days instead of the original 2 per week, which will enable us actively engage with and listen to a wider variety of tenants about their concerns relating to their housing and the wider changes taking place in the area.
Please note: You will need to be based in/around London for this role as it mainly involves direct work within the Somers Town community.
Project management:
- To plan and deliver the project to all agreed deadlines, milestones and targets
- To manage the project budget in liaison with CFPT’s Assistant Organiser

Working Hours and Location
This post is a permanent role, full-time contract (37.5 hours per week) with options for hybrid working.
The successful applicant will be expected to regularly visit all the London campuses ensuring a face-to-face offer for our members. Our current sites are located in Liverpool Street, Vauxhall, Dagenham and North Greenwich. Liverpool Street currently acts as our main hub.
As an organisation, we have an agile working programme which supports staff working from home. However, regular working each week is required onsite (minimum 3 days per week) and flexibility to meet additional business need is required, for example at certain times of the year on campus delivery may be required every day during busy student events (Welcome / Graduation etc). There may be some infrequent weekend and evening working for which time off in lieu will be given.

Salary Details
The salary is £29,605 - £33,966 (+ £3,000 London Weighing Allowance) per annum.

The salary advertised is the full time salary, if the role is taken on a reduced hour basis the salary (LWA and holiday entitlement) will be calculated pro-rata accordingly.

Operations Assistant, South Georgia Museum
South Georgia Heritage Trust operates the South Georgia Museum on behalf of the Government of South Georgia. The museum is located in the abandoned whaling station of Grytviken, on the remote sub-Antarctic island of South Georgia. The museum is visited each austral summer by over 12,000 visitors that arrive on cruise ships, research vessels and yachts.
SGHT is seeking a practical and enthusiastic Operations Assistant to join the small team which will spend 5 to 6 months (October – April) on South Georgia. The Operations Assistant will be involved in opening the museum, operating the SGHT shop and undertaking fundraising and other projects. The Operations Assistant will report to the SGHT Director SG.
Payment is £1200 per month worked, and all food and accommodation is provided. For tax purposes the Operations Assistant is self-employed, and it is each person’s responsibility to report their activity to the appropriate tax authority. Travel to and from South Georgia is arranged by, and covered by, South Georgia Heritage Trust. Working hours are flexible and are dictated by the cruise ship schedule. This can sometimes mean working long, unsociable hours but, where possible, the team will take two days off per week. Successful candidates will live in shared accommodation in a small cottage next door to the museum and take part in a cooking and cleaning rota with other museum staff.
Candidates must be over the age of 18, have the right to work in the UK and be UK based. They must also pass a British Antarctic Survey Medical Unit medical if offered the role. Due to the remote location, and limited facilities available, employment is conditional on passing this medical assessment.
Duties of this role include:
Front of House:
· Opening and closing the museum for visiting ships.
· Welcoming visitors to the museum and responding to questions about the museum, South Georgia and SGHT.
· Assisting with guided tours of Grytviken Whaling Station.
Retail:
· Serving customers in the shop during ship visits.
· Stock management, including barcoding new stock, re-stocking during and after ship visits, and assisting with stock inventories.

Fundraising:
· Delivering fundraising presentations on board visiting cruise ships.

We are recruiting a Policy and Public Affairs Assistant to support the work of the Policy and Public Affairs team in delivering real change and reform in the best interests of children.
The post holder will work in the UK/England part of the Policy and Affairs Team focussed on influencing the Westminster Government. The role involves a variety of responsibilities including assisting the team with parliamentary monitoring, policy analysis, organising meetings and events including with parliamentarians. Main duties and responsibilities
· Conduct desk research to scope public policy positions on a range of key issues. Develop and maintain a good understanding of key policy developments and provide advice and/or information to colleagues about the possible impact of such developments
· Summarise policy documents, research reports and parliamentary debates for members of the Policy and Public Affairs team in England, across the UK and other relevant colleagues within the NSPCC.

You will be required to support in the completion of all types of asylum applications, induction briefings to new arrivals in initial accommodation, provide them with advice and guidance around the asylum process, asylum support and their obligations.
