Role purpose:

The Community and Events Manager plays a vital role in delivering a dynamic programme of community fundraising campaigns, events, and product innovations that connect people to our mission in meaningful ways.

Community is the team who inspire and support volunteers and fundraisers (the Rotary network, individuals, small businesses and groups) in taking action to help families who have lost everything to disaster. From giving school talks to undertaking 12-hour fitness challenges, selling homemade jam, and camping out in their garden - we believe each and every one of our fundraisers is an inspiration.

By leading on the management, development and evaluation of all aspects of the community fundraising strategy this role will help to grow ShelterBox income and reach across the UK and Ireland.

Who are we looking for?

ShelterBox is seeking a bright, motivated and proactive fundraiser who understands and is passionate about the value that our volunteers and different communities can bring to ShelterBox.

We are looking for someone to lead the Community team, a person who is able to juggle a busy workload with competing deadlines and someone who can be flexible and responsive when a major disaster occurs.

This role is responsible for leading on event and product innovations while supporting the team to develop best in class supporter journeys. We are looking for someone who has a vision for putting data at the heart of all decision making.

The individual should love working with people - be it the wider internal team, volunteers or fundraisers from across the country.

This is a key fundraising role and a great opportunity to inspire and engage with the wonderful supporters who enable ShelterBox to deliver its mission.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

• Deliver the community fundraising programme and continually monitor results, with particular focus on net income, Rotary engagement, supporter growth and the development of our volunteer network. Adjust and adapt plans accordingly.
• To set income and expenditure budgets for all community and events activity, monitoring industry and supporter trends, progress against budgets and reforecast income and expenditure as required.
• Set measurable KPIs for the Community and Events Team and objectively review the success and achievements against targets. Identify areas of risk and opportunity. Ensure contingencies are in place as appropriate.
• Strategically grow community income by identifying priority audiences and developing products/campaigns/communications to maximise the value of our existing supporters and to reach new ones. Ensure we remain relevant and future focused. To include the optimisation and mainstreaming of digital engagement.
• Continue to develop and test events, with the aim of growing our events portfolio, working closely with the Community Marketing and Events Officer.
• Embed evidence-based decision-making within the team, using insight and data to inform ways of working, and improving our use and adoptions of systems.
• Support team with stewarding high value community stakeholders, including the strategically important relationship with RGBI. Role model and support great relationship fundraising - leading by example to inspire high standards in the team.
• Lead the development of strategic plans to maximise our partnership with RGBI (including income, awareness and networking opportunities). Manage and support the Rotary Marketing and Engagement Officers to drive activity and performance. Work closely with the Rotary Partnership Manager to ensure plans and communications are aligned.
• Support Community Engagement Officer with the development and growth of our community volunteer network.
• Work with the Rotary Marketing Officer and Community Marketing and Events Officer to oversee the development of mass participation campaigns to engage target audiences (warm and cold) and grow income.
• Develop, deliver and evaluate major disaster plans for community audiences.
• Work across the team to review and develop 'donor journeys' in collaboration with the wider fundraising and Supporter Care team, ensuring an excellent supporter experience.
• Create an environment which supports the team to be confident in the contribution and development of new ideas for fundraising, ensuring we adopt a 'test and learn' approach through which people feel safe and supported to innovate.
• Ensure fundraising activity is carried out in accordance with current good practice and within charity law, managing contracts and agreements and providing advice to others.
• Represent the work of ShelterBox at events to members of the public and supporters, where necessary delivering presentations with occasional out of hours work required.
• Continue to develop a high performing team.
• Participate in the day-to-day work of the organisation - such as reporting, attending team meetings as required, and taking a flexible approach.
• Any other duties as may be reasonably required to ensure the smooth running of the Community and Events Team and wider Supporter Engagement Team.

Key Responsibilities 

1. Operational Oversight and Delivery 

• Lead and manage a small in-house operations team (2 staff members) and oversee the work of external consultants as required to deliver operational plans aligned with strategic goals. 
   
• Drive the successful delivery of existing services, overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring services are delivered efficiently and to a high standard while supporting the implementation of new initiatives and improvements. 

• Ensure systems and processes are fit for purpose and support delivery of strategic goals.

3. Financial Stewardship and Operational Management 

• Support the CEO in ensuring financial sustainability. 

• Oversee day-to-day budgeting, financial reporting, and grant management. 

• Ensure timely processing of payments, payroll, and contracts. 

• Support income generation through sound financial planning and operational oversight. 
   
• Review all processes, procedures & delegations and suggest updates as necessary.

About the Role

The Child Participation and External Engagement Advisor is responsible for shaping child and youth engagement at World Vision UK, including leading the Youth Advocacy Network and ensuring young people’s views and voices are at the heart of everything WVUK does internally and in external engagement. Role overview

An exciting opportunity for a creative and highly motivated candidate with strong technical expertise to help increase Global Canopy's impact by making world-leading environmental and financial data more accessible to our key audiences in the finance sector, business and civil society. 

The role will focus on the DEFT Pathway and related products. DEFT is a transparent, easy-to-use framework that maps out practical steps for companies to transition to deforestation-free supply chains. Hosted by best-in-class data platform Forest IQ, DEFT Pathway helps financial institutions to engage effectively with companies on deforestation. 

A key objective is to make the DEFT Pathway data accessible by building user-friendly frontend components. The data is complex and multi-dimensional and will require considerable creativity to communicate in an understandable and compelling way in order to maximise its impact. You will collaborate with designers, researchers and product managers to fulfill these aims.

As a full stack developer, you will also design and implement the backend to allow the data powering the visualisations to be accessed in a secure way. You will work with data engineers and researchers to ensure the database is well-structured and that queries are performant.

The tech team is small, so you will need to operate with a high degree of independence, and will have the opportunity to influence key technical decisions. We are looking for someone who finds this prospect exciting rather than daunting! 

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, these are the things that will matter the most: 

• Excellent full stack web development skills, ideally using python and typescript
• Knowledge of python frameworks for the backend, such as FastAPI, Flask and/or Django
• Knowledge of javascript frameworks for the frontend (preferably React/Next.js), and common data visualisation libraries such as d3
• Experience querying PostgreSQL databases, potentially using SQLAlchemy as an ORM
• Experience working with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS

Essential behavioural competencies: 

• Self-starter, happy working in a small team with a large degree of independence
• A keen eye for quality, and an appreciation of the importance of automated testing
• A desire to follow industry standard software development processes

• 3+ years experience
• Experience using Agile project management methods and appreciation of the benefits of these

Salary: £60K full-time equivalent. This role sits within Band C on Global Canopy’s remuneration framework.
Nature of contract: Full time (37.5 hours) or part time (30 hours, 0.8 FTE). Fixed term for 21 months (approximately the end of 2027). We are a flexible employer and welcome candidates wishing to work flexibly.
Base: Our office is in Oxford, UK with flexible home-working arrangements in place.

We are looking for a data professional to support and manage significant changes in the way our charity uses, processes and manages data. Our teams pride themselves on evidence-informed practice, using research and data to enhance their work at every stage. We are looking for a Data Scientist/Analyst to help us make this change. You will be based in the LFF Research Team, reporting to our Director of Research and Impact.

This role will facilitate better use, processing and management of data across the organisation. It will focus on four areas:

Old Meeting is a fellowship of the United Reformed Church, worshipping God, supporting each other and sharing the Message of the Good News throughout Bedworth's diverse community. As part of our vision for growth we are looking to recruit a Youth and Families Worker to help our work with young people and families. We are looking for someone who will share our enthusiasm to reach out with the Gospel and with God's love, to develop our outreach through Messy Church and other activities and to find new ways to worship which will include all generations.

As our Youth and Families Worker you will be at the heart of our outreach with young people and families. 

This role is for you if:

You have a strong Christian faith which you are able to share with others

You have a qualification in Youth and Children’s Work or relevant experience of working with families and children in a paid or voluntary capacity.

You will work with the existing leaders of Messy Church (for families) to increase the opportunities for engagement, for example through holiday projects, after-school club activities or in Fresh Expressions (such as Forest Church)

You will plan and enable intergenerational social activities

You will develop relationships with children and families and provide a pastoral ear for connected families

You will build effective relationships with local schools

You will help develop “Vintage Messy Church” activities for older people which will lead to active participation in the worshipping community

You will participate in, and occasionally lead, Sunday worship and other aspects of Church life

In due course you will seek funding to sustain (and even grow) the outreach

Outline Terms and Conditions

1. Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS disclosure and the taking up of no more than two satisfactory references.

2. Appointment will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a six-month probationary period.

3. The appointment will be for three years in the first instance (subject to the probationary period noted above),

4. The hours of work will be 20 hours per week, flexible by need and negotiation. It is anticipated that evening and weekend working will be part of the role, along with the main Christian festivals.
