We are looking for a proactive self-starter to sit within a high-performing team working to raise awareness of SSAFA’s support in the Central Region of England to those in the Armed Forces Community who need it most.

With the ultimate objective being to grow SSAFA’s presence, profile, and identity, the role is responsible for all marcomms activation in the region. The role holder will work to deliver the central Fundraising, Marketing & Communications strategy.

This role reports to the Senior Storytelling Manager with close alignment with colleagues across the marcomms directorate. The marcomms manager will be responsible for managing marketing campaigns in the Central Region of England and promoting SSAFA’s fundraising initiatives and services. You’ll identify the areas of greatest impact and cut through, deliver integrated awareness campaigns and secure media coverage of fundraising events. Crucially, you’ll be able to identify stories which resonate with our target audience and write calls to action.

With a heavy focus on media and PR activity, key to the role is building strong relationships and contacts with relevant stakeholders in your region including media representatives, employees, volunteers, and case study beneficiaries.

About the team

The Communications team is a small but dynamic group of individuals with strong skillsets across Public Relations, Storytelling (case studies) and Internal Communications. The team is a mix of ex-forces and civilians, and they are always sharing knowledge and expertise with each other.

You will work closely across all directorates within SSAFA, with a focus in the central region, to garner information and create compelling marcomms campaigns and activities to raise awareness of SSAFA’s work.

As a natural storyteller with strong media instincts, you will excel at securing high-profile coverage and elevating our brand presence. Engagement Officer

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the London Locality Impact team to support our work with colleagues across the locality, stroke communities and health care system, and in supporting people affected by stroke to provide the voice of lived experience.

Position: S11279 Engagement Officer

Location: Home-based, London - Frequent travel will be required as part of this role (includes team meetings and other external work related meetings)

Hours: Part-time, 28 hours per week

The Role

Reporting to the Engagement Lead, the Engagement Officer will work with colleagues across the locality to deliver against planned activity and building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders. Engaging with service providers, clinical partners, community groups for stroke survivors and carers in the locality. including managing relationships with voluntary led support groups, developing the London groups network.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Enabling sustainable and supportive stroke communities to flourish in the locality
• Supporting stroke survivors to be able to take part in a range of different opportunities to provide the voice of lived experience.
• Building and maintaining key relationships with key stakeholders.
• Identifying and developing opportunities to connect and facilitate stakeholders to influence and support change to improve the lives of those affected by stroke
• Supporting and developing volunteer led support groups

Job purpose

This role sits in our Direct fundraising Team within the Individual Giving department. The key purpose of the job is to:

•  Support the Associate Head and Senior Fundraisers to continue to grow and develop face-to-face direct recruitment and telephone fundraising activity at the NSPCC.
• To work with Senior Fundraisers and Associate Head within the Direct fundraising team to deliver agreed campaigns in line with business requirements.
• Advocate and reinforce the team’s ethics and values across compliance, safeguarding, supporter experience and best practice fundraising.

Main duties and responsibilities

1. With the Associate Head of Direct Fundraising, agree and deliver face-to-face and telephone  direct fundraising activities in line with the Individual Supporters department’s annual business plan and budget to enable the NSPCC to plan its activity and services.
2. Work with the Associate Head to maximise the opportunities by which the fundraising activity can contribute to the NSPCC’s mission of fighting for every childhood over and above fundraising objectives.
3. Be responsible for the development of relationships and delivery of income from potential supporters engaged through face-to-face activity
4. Work with internal NSPCC support teams to set up new agencies and campaigns.
5. Keep up to date on best practice and developments within the charity sector generally and particularly changes to fundraising regulations, compliance and codes of practice relating to direct dialogue fundraising. Updating existing or creating new processes and working with agencies to implement changes in activity.
6. Work with internal compliance teams and external agencies to plan and implement a monitoring schedule in line with the most up to date codes of practice, guidance and regulations.  This should include regular mystery shopping and call listening.
7. To work with the Associate Head to maximise the opportunities by which the fundraising activity of the Direct Fundraising team can contribute to the NSPCC’s mission of ending cruelty to children over and above fundraising objectives.
8. To carry out research through a range of sources, including the Internet, Intranet, publications and other external contacts, including other charities, in order to obtain relevant information that can contribute to the fundraising activities of the Direct fundraising team.
9. To work cross-functionally to ensure that fundraising activities are managed and developed in a way that maximises income for the NSPCC.

PINF is the first charity in the UK that exists to support high-quality journalism. We exist at the cutting edge of charity law and need an experienced charity professional to make sure we do things properly. 

As Head of Operations & Governance, you will be responsible for overseeing the back-office operations of the charity. You will be a key point of contact for the team and support the Executive Director to ensure smooth, efficient and compliant operations.

You will be a senior member of the team, responsible for ensuring that PINF operates within its legal and regulatory framework, including in relation to charity, corporate, tax, employment and data protection regulations. The role involves liaising with the Chair, Board of Trustees, Executive Director, legal advisors and regulators to support best practice in financial management, governance, risk management and compliance.  

Duties and responsibilities 

• Financial Management 

• Ensure consistent delivery and quality of finance operations, including transactions processing, which will involve managing a bookkeeping service.

• Prepare and monitor annual budgets, management accounts and project budgets.

• Lead on the financial aspects of fundraising, contract management, and funder reporting. Including managing restricted and unrestricted funding. 

• Oversee the process of preparing statutory accounts, including liaising with accountants and auditors.

• Maintain internal controls and policies to protect assets, prevent fraud, and ensure business continuity.

Since 2000, SongBird Survival has been fighting for a better future for UK songbirds, and they are the only national UK charity solely dedicated to make a positive impact for songbirds in the face of this devastating ecological emergency. Their goals are to drive impactful conservation through scientific research, protect songbirds by raising awareness and inspiring action, and safeguarding the most at-risk songbird species in the UK. SongBird Survival do this by commissioning independent scientific research into the causes of the catastrophic decline in songbird numbers, translating research findings into actionable strategies, which aim to make a tangible difference in the protection and preservation of songbird populations. They also campaign for change, working with other NGOs and policymakers.

The Scientific Research and Impact Manager role is at the heart of SongBird Survival’s mission, ensuring that their research not only advances scientific understanding but also influences policy change, engages stakeholders, and strengthens communications and fundraising strategies. The postholder will oversee research projects, build key partnerships, and turn findings into practical conservation strategies. 

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

• Degree level education in Ecology or an appropriate discipline or equivalent experience, with comprehensive knowledge of songbird and other small bird ecology.
• Knowledge and understanding of how scientific research is commissioned and delivered, as well as the ability to assimilate and appraise relevant information.
• Track record of translating scientific findings into policy, communications and stakeholder engagement.

From your UK home-base you’ll be flying the flag for the charity outside of Wales as a Fundraiser. You’ll put on quality fundraising events and build strong relationships through our reputation and Welsh links making a difference when it comes to people with cancer.

The details

With a lot of autonomy in where you run events to meet your annual target there may need to be some travel to a city/location where you’re generating the income or some events you run may be in evenings or weekends. 

Around going to work events for the role the rest of the job can be done from home anywhere in the UK. Our Cardiff City Centre Head Office is always available to you too. Most Team meetings and day to day colleague work is handled remotely but we’d expect to see you in the office for things such as our quarterly team meetings.

About the role  

This pivotal role will see you help deliver the Individual Giving (IG) and Retention strategies, working collaboratively with colleagues across teams in IG to increase lifetime value of cash, regular giving and lottery supporters.

You’ll work with the Senior Direct Marketing Manager to lead on the delivery and development of direct marketing campaigns to engage a range of supporters, from those who have just started giving, to others who have a lifelong relationship with Shelter and the cause, stewarding them across their supporter journey with Shelter. 

You’ll have the opportunity to work in a matrix way, across multiple products, and on projects that push forward not only the team strategy, but the organisation’s strategy. 

You will give supporters control of how they give, when we contact them and the content that will mean most to them. Helping build multi-channel, integrated and inspiring campaigns which build strong supporter relationships and long-term loyalty to Shelter. And, along the way, you’ll get to work with new products and propositions to retain supporters in innovative ways and build strong relationships with colleagues, agencies and suppliers alike.

 About you

Passionate about outstanding supporter experiences and maximising income opportunities, you have a good understanding of direct marketing and digital channels such as direct mail, SMS, telemarketing and email. You’re also used to optimising and reviewing campaigns and aren’t afraid to share both failures and successes. Managing and influencing stakeholders to deliver results comes naturally to you too. What’s more, you excel in analysis and intelligent use of data, are great at utilising insight, including the motivations, interests and behaviours of supporters to guide decisions. You’ll have a keen interest in, or willingness to learn about, product management and development. 

You’re happy to challenge the status quo and introduce new ideas, methods and processes too, like to horizon scan and keep ahead of emerging trends and are comfortable working in matrix teams.

About the team 

Our Individual Giving team sits within our successful, growing Income Generation directorate and consists of three programmes - Supporter Acquisition, Direct Dialogue and Supporter Retention and Development. Together, we deliver a diverse programme of work with ambitious income targets that support our organisational strategy, across cash, regular giving and lottery products. We’ve grown quite a bit over the past few years and benefitted from both investment and opportunity for innovation.
