Job description

Youth Work Team Leader

Are you motivated, energetic, and organised with the ability to connect with both young people and staff/volunteers?

If you're passionate about giving young people the best experiences and opportunities, this is the role for you!

As an equal opportunities’ employer, the organisation welcomes applications from under-represented groups; in particular from Black, Asian, Mixed Race and other ethnically diverse individuals, people with disabilities, and members of LGBTQ+ communities.  The dedicated Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Group, with support from the Senior Leadership Team, is actively promoting and advancing diversity and inclusion, ensuring a culture where everyone can be themselves and thrive.

Position: Youth Work Team Leader (3 roles available)

Location: Grimsby (flexible working while construction of the Youth Zone is underway)

Salary: £28,000 - £31,000

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

Closing Date: 9am on 16th June

First Stage Interviews: 23rd – 25th June

Second Stage Interviews: TBC

About the Role

As a key part of the delivery team, you'll be at the heart of the action, leading the way in one of 3 clubs: Inclusion, Juniors or Seniors.

Your mission? To create an exciting, high-quality programme that’s fun, engaging, and truly makes a difference—all while keeping young people at the centre of everything we do.

No two days are the same, so you'll need to be versatile, leading the creation of the club offer while supporting both the recruitment and development of the delivery team. You’ll also be responsible for the smooth implementation and operation of the club program whilst supporting the rest of the core Youth Work offer as needed.

You’ll be a crucial part of this new Youth Zone for North East Lincolnshire, welcoming up to 250 young people each session and creating a space where they can thrive.

There are 3 roles available:

Youth Worker Team Leader (Inclusion): Leading weekly Inclusion, Partnership and project sessions, where external providers bring fresh, exciting activities for members

Youth Worker Team Leader (Juniors): Leading the way in the Junior Club for young people aged 8 to 12 years

Youth Worker Team Leader (Seniors): Leading the way in the Senior Club for young people aged 13 to 19 (or up to 25 for those with additional needs).

About You

Having a young person focused approach, being passionate about the power and impact of youth work and using it as a vehicle to empower young people to become the very best versions of themselves… is crucial!

You will have/have experience of:

  • Creating, developing and leading open-access youth programmes creating a safe environment to deliver engaging programmes for diverse youth demographics (ages 8-19, up to 25 with additional needs/disabilities)
  • Safeguarding, ideally as a designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring the safety and well-being of all young people with unwavering commitment and proficiency in related referral processes.
  • Managing clear behaviour standards and managing conflict between young people.
  • Management with a solid understanding of basic HR processes related to people management, attendance, and staff performance.
  • Project management of youth programmes, including H&S requirements, staff scheduling and budgeting having the ability to prioritise deadlines to achieve impactful outcomes.

About the Organisation

This is a brand-new locally run youth charity, set to provide thousands of young people with the opportunity to have fun, make new friends, try something new and feel safe. With community centric values and located in the heart of Grimsby, it will be an inspiring place for young people aged 8 – 19, and up to 25 for those with additional needs, to enjoy their leisure. The building is due to be completed in 2025.

Benefits include:

  • Workplace pension
  • Free gym access (once the Youth Zone opens)
  • Access to OnSide’s Talent Academy; bespoke training and mentoring
  • Access to the employee assistance programme (once the Youth Zone opens)
  • 33 days holiday (inclusive of bank holidays)
  • Birthday holiday leave

The charity recognises that the workforce is under-represented in certain areas and are committed to addressing this.  Therefore, they actively encourage applicants to submit anonymous applications; in practice this means removing your name and email address from your CV and cover letter.  The HR Lead will have these details from your submission, but they will not be available to the selection panel when they are considering your application.

The charity is committed to the safeguarding of young people. In accordance with their Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures, this position requires a basic DBS check.

Other roles you may have experience of could include Youth Worker, Youth Work, Youth Work Team Leader, Youth Worker Team Leader, Team Leader Youth Work, Club Team Leader, Youth Club Team Leader, Holiday Club Team Leader, Education, Children. #INDNFP
