About the role
This is a new role which will help to deliver a pilot strategy to grow long-term sustainable income by enhancing Breast Cancer Now’s on-the-ground presence locally.
Joining the relationship fundraising team and working closely with the high value partnerships team, this role is responsible for cultivating new long-term relationships and, in turn, driving fundraising income.
Uniquely, the post holder will help to implement a large-scale trial to further grow Tickled Pink, an award-winning partnership between Asda, Breast Cancer Now and CoppaFeel! which has raised over £100m. The goal is to grow both engagement and future income by directly supporting colleagues across Asda stores in their local area.
In addition, this role will establish and grow a portfolio of supporters in Bristol and the southwest by cultivating relationships with new and warm supporters including individuals, clubs, societies and local companies. It will also line manage a community fundraiser covering a patch in London and the southeast.
What’s special about this role is that you’ll be working alongside a supportive, innovative and fun team which has delivered continued growth in fundraising over the last five years.
The is the first time the charity has had a community fundraiser locally based in the southwest. It is one of five new roles being introduced as part of the pilot, and the goal is that they all become permanent.
About you
You’re a pro at cultivating long term relationships with a variety of new supporters to generate income, and have great community fundraising experience working with individuals, local companies and clubs and societies.

Primary location of role and hybrid working

NUS Charity is looking for a Development Consultant to strengthen organisational development for our members, predominantly in Scotland. What will I be doing?
You will plan and deliver Cancer Research UK events. Your main delivery will be outdoor mass participation events alongside some staff and supporter conferences and engagement events, as well as virtual online events.
Example of some events you might deliver:
Cancer Research UK's flagship Race for Life 3k, 5k, 10k, Pretty Muddy and Shine Night Walk
Flame of Hope - annual volunteer award ceremony for up to 100 people
Inspire - intimate supporter engagement event for up to 40 people
Annual CRUK departmental conferences.
One week you might be delivering Race for Life for 1,000 participants in a public park, followed the next week by drafting plans for an intimate hotel-based event to thank our loyal volunteers for all they do for CRUK.
What does planning and delivering our events involve?
Following processes, guidelines and deadlines - you are given a guide or process to follow when producing Cancer Research UK Events
Venue Research - find and assess suitability of new venues for mass participation outdoor events and indoor events
Venue - build strong relationships, negotiate event approval and costs
Suppliers - research, negotiate, book, plan, brief and ensure high standards are met. Suppliers include PA, first aid, caterers, florists, traffic management and stewards.
Event Documentation - following event guidelines, design and review event courses and sites (Race for Life and Shine Night Walk events), carry out health and safety checks and complete documentation such as risk assessments, running orders, course map, site map, volunteer plans and briefing documents
Project Plan - produce and oversee project plans, working closely and effectively with all event stakeholders
Budget - plan event budgets, negotiate best costs and be responsible for your event spend
Volunteers - build relationships with longstanding volunteers and recruit new volunteers. Manage volunteer welfare and experience on event day
Event Staff - brief staff on their role and manage them throughout the event offering feedback and coaching
Supporter experience - ensure that events are fun and enjoyable by booking entertainment and overseeing the supporter experience
Event day - lead and manage your event team (staff, volunteers, suppliers) to set up the event site and course, oversee welfare of supporters and team and deal with issues that may arise to ensure smooth operation of the event
After the event - gather feedback and complete post-event administrative tasks
Other departments - develop relationships and work with several departments across Cancer Research UK. Work with colleagues from other teams to deliver the events they require.

About Action for ME
Action for ME is the only charity in the UK providing support, including healthcare, to people of all ages affected by ME. Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), sometimes referred to and diagnosed as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), is a chronic, fluctuating disease, causing symptoms such as post-exertional malaise (PEM), sleep problems, problems with thinking and memory (brain fog), pain and crushing fatigue. There are an estimated 1.3 million people living with ME or ME-like symptoms, including PEM, in the UK alone.

Job purpose
This role will deliver an exceptional supporter experience to our donors, building and maintaining strong relationships with our supporters. Working closely with other members of the fundraising and communications teams, you will deliver our supporter journey, maintain regular communication with donors and be an integral part of our fundraising campaigns and appeals.
Key duties
- Work with the Fundraising Operations Manager to deliver our supporter journey, engaging current and prospective donors with our work and giving them an excellent experience of supporting Action for ME.
- Be responsible for creating the methods that ensure each supporter relationship is maximised, increasing retention rates for a growing supporter base. As such you will be required to engage with supporters so that they feel valued, and relationships can be developed further for the benefit of the charity.

This role will give you the opportunity to work across all our income generating activity and will suit someone who enjoys breadth and depth in their day to day:
Grants:

Identifying and researching trusts, foundations, and grant opportunities to add to the pipeline

Liaising with the Programmes team and others on the content of an application

Writing and submitting high-quality applications

Tracking and updating all submissions on our CRM (Salesforce)
Business development:

Generating prospect leads through desk-based research and identifying sectors and organisations to target

Contacting prospects and leading initial conversations

Responding to incoming requests from organisations

Represent Brightside at networking events

Writing bespoke and compelling proposals

Tracking and updating all relationships on our CRM (Salesforce)
Communications and marketing:

Working with the team to identify marketing campaigns and collateral to attract new leads

Supporting the creation of new content for the website, campaigns, and marketing

Maintaining and managing the website

Collating statistics on social media and website engagement

Supporting the delivery of campaigns to increase individual giving
Reporting:

Providing regular, accurate reports on progress related to income generating activity, including the pipeline, applications or prospects, and secured income

You will be line managed by the Income Generation Lead

Have at least 12 months relevant business development or fundraising work experience

The next few years will be critical in determining what kind of world we all live in. The Landscape Recovery team was set up as a response to the urgency of the inextricably linked nature and climate emergencies. The purpose of this team is to encourage and facilitate cross-Wildlife Trust action on landscape scale recovery, inject the rewilding approaches into the work of the Wildlife Trusts, coordinate land management activities where scale-economies are clear and to substantially increase funding for nature’s recovery across the Wildlife Trusts. The team is developing a range of programmes where RSWT acts as a ‘collective vehicle’ for groups of Trusts. For example, RSWT is leading a programme of peatland restoration through the Precious Peatlands project. Opportunities for such programmes are increasing – the UK is at a tipping point where either wildlife continues to decline or we finally grasp the opportunities of nature’s recovery.
About You
Working closely with colleagues at the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts and with Local Wildlife Trusts, the Land Management Practice Officer will support The Wildlife Trusts Nature Reserves community of practice. This role will focus primarily, in the first instance, on supporting local Wildlife Trusts to reduce their pesticide use.
The post will help Trusts develop and share knowledge, skills and capacity in the realm of pesticide use reduction and, where possible, also across other aspects of land management. This work will support Goal 1 – Nature’s Recovery – of the Wildlife Trusts’ Strategy 2030.
You will be a highly organised, collaborative, and an experienced individual adept at managing customer focussed relationships. You will understand the needs of the Wildlife Trusts and the context in which they operate. You will be an excellent communicator – proficient at running meetings, organising information and putting together reports.
