About the role

University Access Officers are responsible for delivering The Access Project’s high impact mentoring programme to students across our partner schools. This role works with a caseload of students supporting them from the start of Year 10 up to the end of Year 11 to understand the pathway to a top university. 

The role also involves project coordination, working with our schools, volunteers and teams across The Access Project to ensure our young people are fully supported and have the best possible chance of achieving social mobility and enhancing their future prospects.

This role is for a University Access Officer to work across one school., Shirebrook Academy. Our schools are shown on a map on our website.

Role responsibilities

• Work directly with young people mentoring a caseload of students in a professional and safe manner.
• Deliver our University Readiness programme through in-depth, targeted 1:1 mentoring sessions with Year 10 to Year 11 students.
• Assess student progress towards being able to make successful sixth form applications.
• Engage with students in school and enrol them onto the programme.
• Match students with volunteer tutors.
• Monitor student attendance to tutorials and devise innovative solutions to encourage attendance.
• Monitor the impact of tutorials and intervene as appropriate.
• Build and manage relationships with volunteer tutors to ensure they have a positive experience of the programme
• Manage tutor attendance to tutorials through weekly monitoring systems
• Lead on quality assurance of tuition pairings completing a caseload of drop ins. 
• Upload information onto the Salesforce database (training is provided)
• Work with school staff to ensure their cooperation and timely completion of activities contributing to the smooth running of the programme
• Direct enrolled students to appropriate wider enrichment opportunities, encouraging both extra and super-curricular participation and reflection.
• Work with Enrichment & Events team and partner schools to deliver school trips to universities, including trip logistics and leading groups of young people on trip days.
• Lead on all student facing comms.
• Send regular summary updates to school as their key point of contact.
• Present at termly school meetings with Senior Management to report on programme progress.
• Any other responsibilities reasonably deemed necessary by The Access Project’s Programme Managers or Director

Training and Development

You will be provided with regular monthly training so that you can develop your skills and succeed in the role. There is support and supervision from your line manager (Programme Manager), as well as guidance from a Senior University Access Officer and the wider University Access Officer team across The Access Project. There are opportunities for progression, including several additional responsibility roles which are available for UAOs to apply for once they have completed their probationary period successfully.

This is a rare opportunity to lead our Support & Communities teams who provide direct support, practical guidance and other patient focused activities to over 1500 members and their families, UK-wide, whose lives are affected by MPS, Fabry and related diseases.

Our Support Team raise awareness both within the MPS community and external agencies, offering information, advice, support, and advocacy in a range of areas including health and social care, housing, education, transition, independent living, palliative care, and bereavement.  Our Projects and Communities team contribute to the development of our resources and facilitate project work such as youth engagement, advisory boards, and support groups, as well as leading on support focused social media.

Excellent IT skills and the ability to plan, prioritise and deliver to tight timescales are essential.  You will be self-motivated and highly organised, juggling many strands of work.

This is an essential car user post. The applicant must hold a current UK driver’s licence, with no more than 6 points, have access to a car and be able and willing to drive UK wide as required.

This role is offered on a hybrid basis with a minimum of 2 days in our Amersham office each week. About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in the day-to-day coordination and delivery of a high-impact, donor-funded programme. Reporting to the Senior Programme Manager, you will support implementation across several countries, liaise with Member Associations (MAs), manage CSE sub-grants, and coordinate international workshops and meetings. You'll bring energy, structure and proactive communication to a collaborative and values-led team.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with coordination of programme activity and reporting against annual work plans

The ideal candidate will have excellent planning, organisational, and time management skills, along with strong interpersonal and communication abilities. Experience with Salesforce or similar platforms is highly valued, along with a strong track record in managing procurement, budgets, and coordinating contractors or agencies. Key Responsibilities are as follows:

Strategic Leadership: Work with the Directors and Advisory Board to support long-term planning and strategic development. Creatively implement systems and structures to maximise service delivery, productivity, and income. 

Operations and Facilities Management: Oversee the booking and management of clinic and event rooms, maintain high standards of customer service for building users and visitors, liaise with contractors regarding building maintenance and manage the general upkeep of facilities to maintain a high standard of health and safety. The Third Space Youth Lead is a unique partnership between The Bridge Youth Project and St Paul’s Church, Salisbury, bringing together two missional contexts with one unified purpose: to help young people move from curiosity to commitment, and from early encounters with faith into meaningful, sustained discipleship.
