We are looking for a confident, compassionate and organised practitioner to deliver focused family support with a strong focus on early learning. This role combines practical support for families with children and delivery of child development interventions such as Making it REAL and Big Hopes Big Futures. You will also help build volunteer capacity, from supporting volunteers with resource bags to contributing to outreach, engagement and group work, depending on your experience.

Duties and Key Responsibilities:

Direct Support to Families

• Hold a small caseload of families with children delivering up to 2 hours of support per week on a short-term basis.
• Conduct home and community visits to support early childhood development, build resilience and improve family wellbeing.
• Work in a strength based and relationship building way, helping parents recognise and build on what they are already doing well.
• Deliver structured early learning interventions including Making it REAL and Big Hopes Big Futures.
• Support families to develop a rich and positive home learning environment.

Volunteer Development.

• Act as the first point of contact for child development resources, ensuring they are maintained and distributed to volunteers when needed.
• Offer shadowing opportunities and depending on your experience, support small group learning or supervision. Help to provide ongoing guidance and encouragement to help volunteers build confidence and skills.

Planning, Events & Outreach

• Work with the Lead Family Support Coordinators to deliver early learning events and community-based outreach.
• Help raise awareness of Home-Start Southwark services through local outreach and networking to increase referrals of families and volunteer recruitment.
• Develop good working relationships with a range of referrers and other professionals including health, education and social care.

Monitoring, Recording & Partnership Working

• Carry out initial assessments, reviews and end visits with families.
• Liaise with referrers and other professionals.
• Make referrals to other organisations.
• Record all work accurately and in a timely manner using the CharityLog (our internal system for which training will be provided).
• Contribute to impact reporting by preparing case studies and success stories.
• Attend and actively contribute to team meetings, training and supervision.
• Follow safeguarding policies and escalate concerns following our procedures.
• Promote a safe, fair and inclusive environment for all families, volunteers and colleagues.

General

• Help with occasional community outreach outside core hours when required.
• Support the wider Family Support Team as needed.

As our Learning and Engagement Officer, 

Key responsibilities of our Learning and Engagement Officer include:

• Deliver daily programmed activities encompassing both formal and informal learning 
• Develop Learning and Engagement (L&E) activities and resources for both formal and informal learners of all ages and abilities
• Ensure administration and organisation of all L&E activities is developed and delivered to a high standard, on time and within budget 
• Lead on Museum-initiated or partner events as required 
• Lead on term-time provision for the under-fives
• Support the development and delivery of a high standard of visitor experience 
• Be fully active in the research, development and delivery of all elements of Learning and Engagement activities on site, offsite and online. This will include public demonstrations and presentations, class facilitation and tours 
• Keep up to date with developments in the National Curriculum and with the Learning and Engagement provision in other museums 
• In a manner consistent with the Museum’s shared values, work with L&E staff and volunteers and with staff and volunteers across departments to create or support innovative and engaging activities and resources which reduce barriers to learning 
• Assist with the processing of L&E team bookings, producing accurate timetables for school activities and other events 
• Collate data and report as required on areas including performance, targets and individual key tasks. Assist with research and evaluation projects 
• Consult with schools and other partners to ensure the Museum is meeting their need. 
  Provide suitable feedback mechanisms, collate feedback, identify areas for improvement and 
  ensure ‘lessons learned’ are shared with colleagues 
• Provide effective, timely reporting both in writing and through presentations and discussion as required 
• Maintain relevant pages of the Museum website, produce promotional materials as required and contribute to the Museum’s social media output 
• Monitor the availability of consumable resources, ensuring supplies are ordered in good time 
• Assume devolved responsibility for budget management when required 
• Contribute actively to risk management for the department 
• Contribute to staff and volunteer training and development programmes.
• Lead on Special Educational Needs (SEN) related activities whilst fully participating in all other areas of the teams’ work

What we are looking for in our Learning and Engagement Officer:

• Educated to first degree level or equivalent experience 
• Demonstrable experience of developing and delivering formal or informal learning activities
• Experience of working with children 
• Excellent verbal and written communication, and presentation skills
• Experience of developing accessible learning activities for SEN audiences
• Knowledge of current H&S regulation including Safeguarding
• Knowledge of / interest in the history and current role of the RAF
• Knowledge of the educational context in which museum learning takes place in the UK
• Knowledge of developments in and the potential of digital and online learning
• Excellent Microsoft Office software skills

We have a vacancy for a Community Outreach Worker to join our team, supporting refugees and asylum seekers in the community with multiple needs who have mental health as a primary need, through providing advice, information and holistic support.

About the Service

This is an exciting and reasonably new project, ‘Flourish’ – Mental Health for Refugees in Hertfordshire, which is a highly flexible and responsive outreach service developed to meet the needs of refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine & other refugees in Hertfordshire.

The countywide holistic service also provides emotional wellbeing support for families who are hosting refugees.

Purpose of Post

• To provide advice, information, onward referral and holistic support to clients with mental ill health.
• Support to build social networks and reduce isolation whilst settling into the Hertfordshire community this includes building a sustainable and empowering peer support network and building confidence and self-esteem.
• To ensure that the safety and wellbeing of the client is monitored and reviewed regularly.
• To remain a source of independent support for all clients.
• Embed a person centred and solution focused approach in all aspects of the role.
• To work in a trauma informed way including awareness of the 6 principles of trauma informed practice, putting the clients emotional and practical needs at the forefront of this work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Working closely with all key delivery partners across the system to ensure the service is responsive, inclusive and easy to access.
• To take allocated referrals from any agencies including the Community Navigators, Borough and District Councils, Herts Help, Housing Providers, the Refugee Council and self-referrals including walk in contacts at any of the Mind wellbeing centres across the county.
• Hold a caseload of clients, supporting for approx. 10 weeks
• To create a safe space for the individual to be able to explore their feelings and improve their understanding around their mental health.
• To complete a holistic needs assessment, making use of assertive outreach work to achieve the initial client contact, if required.
• Ensure all person-centred risk assessments and support plans are completed as appropriate.
• Proactively recognise the indicators of deteriorating mental health and facilitate appropriate action, whilst liaising with relevant agencies.
• To provide safeguarding intervention support. This will include responding to problems, which pose an immediate risk.
• To work alongside translators when required to provide a robust package of support for clients.
• To provide advocacy services to clients experiencing mental ill health.
• To accompany clients to initial visits and appointments as necessary in order to ensure the sustained use of existing support services in the Borough.
• To work with the third sector and signpost to other agencies as necessary to improve the health and wellbeing of clients referred to the service.
• To liaise with other agencies to ensure that clients receive appropriate support and continue to remain engaged with the service.
• To assist clients to access appropriate mental health services, housing/tenancy services and other services according to assessed needs.
• To establish effective pathways across a variety of agencies to maximise and provide effective partnership working.
• Support clients to build their emotional resilience, promoting self-management through building an understanding of their own triggers/coping strategies.

The Purpose of the Role

As Director of Communications, UK, you lead IRC UK’s core communications strategy with the objectives of growing our profile, influencing policy, driving income, and building our reputation. ●Influence and shape key media and digital narratives around IRC UK priority issues.

●Oversee strategic media opportunities by commissioning, writing, editing and disseminating messaging for multi-channel use includingpress-releases, op-eds, statements, web and social content to secure coverage of the IRC in the UK across print, broadcast and online media.

●Work with global communications colleagues and country office staff to create strong, persuasive and impactful outputs, and to arrange interviews and media visits to frontline work.

●Act as a spokesperson for the organization in the media as needed.

●Liaise closely with Fundraising teams to collaborate on timely messaging, client-centered storytelling, digital outputs, and media coverage to bring in donations to the IRC during emergencies and other fundraising appeals.

●Manage the communications component of IRC UK’s relationship with the DEC and lead communications on DEC appeals.

●Use expert judgment to ensure the IRC’s brand is protected and to develop and enact strategies to enhance IRC’s reputation, as well as ensure media outputs protect clients, staff and programming from harm.

●Ensure coordinated and topical messaging across media outreach and digital channels.

●Establish close relationships with press counterparts within statutory donor organizations that lead to opportunities to promote IRC in the media.

●Leverage IRC’s President and CEO, and UK Executive Director to grow our profile in the UK, through proposing and implementing op-eds, interviews and other media activities.

●Support, prepare and coach staff, spokespeople and board members for media interviews and visits; and provide guidance across the organisation to dealing with media.

●Build expertise on current and potential issues in the humanitarian NGO arena via research and monitoring of national media and competitors and in liaison with global colleagues.

●Work with the global media colleagues to ensure that IRC has a system for managing media enquiries at all times, as needed.

About the Role

This is an exciting new role which will help the Methodist Church in Britain to embed in the life of churches its commitment to be justice-seeking. 

In 2024, the Church adopted a Strategy to embed the Methodist Conference’s Justice-Seeking Church Report in local churches, across the Connexional Team and throughout the life of Methodism. 

The Justice-Seeking Church Officer will shape and develop this work across all levels of the Church in creative and innovative ways, identifying opportunities and responding to challenges.  They will strengthen leadership for justice across churches, and enable collaboration across programmes and issues. They will enable theological reflection and will lead on shaping the vital emerging work around participation of people with lived experience of poverty.

You will be a member of the Justice Team but work collaboratively with many others. You will also be part of the wider Mission Team, playing a key role in the implementing its strategy in response to Our Calling and the Methodist Way of Life.

About the role:

This is a home based role that will include travel across England and Wales when delivering training. You will be working within a specific project that delivers learning externally to other organisations outside of VS. Your primary goal will be to design and deliver high quality learning interventions based on what our customers need.

As an External Trainer you will:

• Manage, coordinate and deliver professional, engaging and interactive training sessions to external clients using a range of facilitation methods, ensuring delivery aligns with agreed training objectives, materials and quality standards.

A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen to work as an Early Help IDVA for Solace co-located in Islington Early Help services. As an Early Help IDVA you will provide immediate support for victim/survivors of abuse working with Early Help including carrying out risk and needs assessments, safety planning and providing short-term support and onward referral. In addition, you will act as an Early Help lead for Solace in Islington, providing advice and guidance to Solace staff and Islington Early Help professionals.

You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team and collaborating with external agencies in your work, and part of this involves being co-located multiple days per week within Islington’s Early Help Family Support at the Family Hubs teams, and from our office.

About You

We're looking for highly organised and self-motivated applicants who are passionate about ending VAWG and a solid understanding of how domestic or sexual violence against a parent can affect a child in the home. You will have a “can-do‟ approach, experience of working with families and demonstrable commitment to Solace’s feminist approach to supporting women and their children to be safer.
