Teaching Resources at Unifrog

One of the most important parts of Unifrog is a searchable library of hundreds of teaching resources, covering careers guidance, progression, SEL, and PSHE. 

Each week the lessons are used by tens of thousands of teachers in the UK and around the world. 

We aim for our lessons to be plug-and-play, to be truly educational, to make it easy for schools to make the most of the Unifrog platform, and to be fun even when they deal with difficult subjects. We always try to make the learning as active as possible.

In December 2023, we launched our Courses tool. Students can browse and take short online courses in a range of engaging and challenging topic areas, many of which are created in partnership with universities and employers.

We create courses that fit into five main strands:

• ‘Careers in…’ courses introduce students to a career sector and spotlight a few specific roles within the sector, e.g. ‘Careers in art’. 

• University subject tasters give students an idea of what studying a particular university subject is like, e.g. ‘The complicated reality of criminology’.

• Life skills courses help students prepare for life after school/college, e.g. ‘Preparing for the workplace’.

• Virtual work experience courses combine a series of work-based tasks and live webinars with an employer, e.g. ‘Virtual work experience with the BBC’.

• Teacher/counselor courses help staff members in various roles get the most out of the Unifrog platform.

The role and responsibilities

As Teaching Resources Creator, your main focus will be creating and editing teaching resources and courses. Topics will include:

• Careers guidance

• University, college and apprenticeship applications

• PSHE and SEL

• Skills

• Revision 

• Work experience

You will be expected to create lessons and courses to a high standard, which will involve: 

• Researching the topic

• Producing content in line with our teaching and learning standards and Resource Library handbook 

• Responding to feedback from your line manager, from others on the Unifrog team, from employer/HE partners, and from teachers in our partner schools.

What we’re looking for

• Essential: QTS and relevant secondary school teaching experience

You must have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a minimum of 3 years teaching experience across at least two key stages from KS3-5.

• Adept at creating exceptional teaching resources 

Above all else, you need to be brilliant at creating teaching resources, and to love doing it. You will have had significant professional experience creating teaching resources, and delivering them to students.

• Creativity

We want you to come up with great ideas for how to teach topics to students in fun ways.

• Quest for feedback

We want to be as close to our users as possible. You’ll be able to seek out feedback from colleagues, teachers, and students.

• Attention to detail

You will have excellent writing and proofreading skills.

Creating hundreds of brilliant teaching materials is a long-term project that requires organisation, discipline, and resilience.

Working together

You’ll work in our existing Teaching Resources team, which consists of experienced teachers and resource creators. You’ll also be in regular contact with the Written Content team, plus people on our marketing, sales, account management, and strategy teams.

In the Teaching Resources team, we commonly brainstorm new ideas as a group, share insights from our own teaching experiences, provide feedback on other team members’ work, and get feedback from teachers and students at our partner schools.

You’ll be managed by the Head of Teaching Resources.

Key details

• £36,000-£38,000 per annum pro rata (Grade B) and a share in a company-wide performance bonus. 

• 28 days paid holiday per year (plus bank holidays) (pro rata).

• iii. We’re creating a course for 14-16 year old students who want to learn more about what it means to be self-employed in the UK. Section 1 of the course, which explains what self-employment is, has already been written.

  • Your task is to write part of Section 2 of the course, which will explain the advantages and disadvantages of being self-employed.

  • Write 250 words to be included in Section 2, either on:

  • the main advantages of being self-employed

  • OR

  • the main disadvantages of being self-employed

  • Feel free to use headings and bullet points to structure your writing. Do not add activities.

• Stage 2: Task (~ 2 hours)

Youth Engagement Officer  

Location: Hybrid. Expected to be in our London office in Victoria at least one day per week. You can be remote every other day or come into the office. Your office days are flexible and can be agreed with your manager, other than for monthly team days where you must be in person. Some nationwide travel expected for Youth Steering Group training days, events and conferences. After passing probation, up to six weeks ‘super remote’ working per year, where you can work anywhere in the world as long as you’re online for four hours of the UK workday.

Contract: Fixed Term Contract until 31 August 2026 with the possibility to extend. 

Holidays: 38 days per year, including our 3-day winter shut down and eight flexible bank holidays.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (full time) Please note as this role works with young people there will be occasions where your working hours will be outside the standard 9-5:30pm. This will typically be a few meetings per month that can last until 7pm and about four weekend days over the year. This is to ensure our activities fit around the young people’s education and work commitments. 

About the Fair Education Alliance  

The Fair Education Alliance (FEA) unites 300 member organisations under a shared vision that no child’s success is limited by their socioeconomic background.

Our members (charities and social enterprises, think tanks, businesses and foundations, youth organisations, unions, universities and schools) are working collectively to create an inclusive system. We exist to close the gap in educational outcomes between children from low-income households and their wealthier peers. 

This autumn, we’re kicking off our next strategic phase, which will take our work from neighbourhood to national, building a movement for systems change towards a fairer future for children and young people. 

Why we need you 

Education is not fair. The gaps in educational outcomes between children from low-income households and their wealthier peers are staggering at every stage of education. Our Alliance exists to tackle this inequity, and we believe this will only be possible by empowering young people who have faced barriers in education, to colead systemic change as part of diverse cross-sector coalition.  This is a unique opportunity to be a part of the movement to ensure all young people are respected and heard in decisions affecting their education. You would be joining the organisation at a very exciting time as our youth engagement work is growing and building momentum across the sector. In the last year we have seen a 25% increase in youth engagement across our membership, have supported Ofsted and Department for Education to their youth participation in policy making and our Youth Steering Group hosted our biggest ever Fair Education Youth Summit. This role will play a critical part in the success of taking this work forward. As the Youth Engagement Officer, you will work with our Head of Youth Engagement to ensure our Youth Steering Group can lead their own campaign activities, engage directly with decision makers, and collaborate with other young people to bring about the change they want to see. You will also support and manage the logistics of our Youth Summit, Youth Engagement Working Group and other youth engagement events. 

What we’re asking of you  

Support our Youth Steering Group to feel safe and confident as they co-lead our Alliance and create change

Our Youth Steering Group is made up of 25 brilliant young people, aged 14-24, who draw on their lived experience of the different barriers to accessing a fair education, to campaign for change. You will support the young people to lead their own campaign activity, write their monthly Youth Bulletin and engage directly with policy makers. You will also help the group to participate in FEA decision making, support the design and facilitation of their monthly meetings and training days, help them make progress against their personal development plans. This role will include working directly with young people, session planning and facilitation, policy research and managing logistics.

Ensure the Fair Education Youth Summit is a success and remains truly youth-led  

Our Youth Steering Group design and run the annual Fair Education Youth Summit. The event is led by young people for young people and brings together young changemakers from across our membership and the wider education and youth sectors to develop their youth leadership skills, collaborate on campaigns, and engage directly with decision makers. You will support the young people to design sessions, secure speakers, embed past feedback and plan the event structure. You will also support with the event logistics, guestlist management, participant communications and collecting attendee feedback.

Support our members to improve their youth engagement practice  

Our Youth Engagement Working Group supports FEA members and other sector organsiations to increase and improve their own youth engagement practice. You will support the management of logistics, promote the workshops, and communicate with working group members. You will also support the facilitation of the workshops and ensure the attendee data and feedback is correctly logged and actioned. The critical responsibilities of this role are described above. They may be subject to reasonable changes from time to time in line with business need and the decisions of the youth leaders we support.

You will work within the Adult Carers team to deliver an engaging, accessible range of peer support groups, social activities and one to one support, working to targets and budget, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to funders.

This role requires you to work collaboratively with carers and professionals to meet carers’ needs and shape the service, building and maintaining strong partnerships to do so. You will support our wider organisational objectives and help out with events, communications and other ad hoc work.

We are seeking a proactive and analytical Assistant Finance and Operations Business Partner to join our Finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to grow their career in financial management within the charity sector. As an Assistant Finance and Operations Business Partner, you will work alongside the different directorates of the Charity, providing financial information, tools, analysis and insight.

You will work closely with all areas of the Charity, forming good relationships with stakeholders, providing financial support and analysis and explaining finance processes to non-finance staff.  You will have a good understanding of basic accounting and be able to explain concepts such as accruals and prepayments to non-finance colleagues in a clear and practical manner.

You will provide organised and timely routine assistance to colleagues around the business on a variety of topics and will be well-informed on Finance team processes to do this effectively.

You will support the Finance and Operations Business Partner in facilitating communication and support between Finance and the wider organisation, ensuring that Finance is always at the forefront of any decision making.  In a period where Alzheimer’s Research UK is looking to continue to grow, you will be key in making sure that financial and other operational impact is considered at all times.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

· Support the implementation of best financial practices.

· Facilitate communication between Finance and non-Finance teams.

· Process the quarterly financial forecasts and annual budgets using Excel and Microsoft Business Central.

· Assist in the budgeting and forecasting processes, liaising with budget holders to ensure accuracy and engagement.

· Produce and update reports and graph analysis using Jet excel reports and Power BI.

· Support preparation of the monthly management reports and commentary by preparing initial statement of figures, proofreading the work of others and adding any information obtained through meetings with stakeholders.

· Administrate and track access to finance system.

· Provide financial training to operational stakeholders as required, to enhance financially sound decision making across the organisation.

· Act as a conduit between Corporate Services and the rest of the organisation to ensure that all operational aspects are consulted and considered before decisions are made.

· Lead on established finance onboarding processes and assist in continuous improvement of onboarding.

· Create clear and engaging finance documentation aimed at non-Finance users in collaboration with the Finance and Operations Business Partner.

· Help maintain financial controls and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.

· Be the first port of call for business partnering team queries.

· Attend business partnering meetings, keep records and follow up on agreed actions.

· Partner teams on small project financial reviews and reporting, e.g. Reporting ROI on an activity and working with business to ensure accuracy.

· Opportunity to gain broader finance experience through training on and occasionally covering core Finance team member tasks.

What we are looking for:

Richmond Borough Mind is a vibrant local charity that has been supporting and providing services for adults affected by mental health problems and their carers for over 60 years. 

We are excited to be looking for a Young Adults Peer Support Worker. You will have your own lived experience of mental ill health and be able to use this experience as well as your professional skills and knowledge, to support others.

With the expansion of our work in this area we aim to reduce waiting times, reduce the number of people going into crisis, address inequalities and support transitions from youth to adult services. We will be offering holistic and personalised care and support to service users and carers.

This role will carry caseload and deliver a range of support and person-centred interventions to meet these needs, which could include group support, one-to-one interventions and signposting where specialist advice is needed. Referrals could be young adults, careleavers, people currently under adult mental health services, or carers supporting people in the community.

About the Role

The Human Resources Division supports all people management activities across the school and is committed to delivering high-quality and customer-focused services. Job Details

• Job Title: Student Advisor
• Location: Across all of the main UoGSU sites, with a flexible working policy.
• Department: Student Voice & Advocacy
• Reports to: Advocacy & Campaigns Manager
• Salary: £21,436 pro-rata
• Contract Type: 0.8FTE - Part Time
• Hours: Full time, normally 9am-5pm. Some flexible hours required to meet demands of the Students’ Union.
• Working Days: Monday- Friday - to be negotiated with the successful candidate

About the role

The main focus of the advice centre will be academic advice and appeals but it may need to adapt to the changing needs of students and will likely involve working with individuals who have complex situations who require support to navigate what steps to take. 

Advice and Support

• To provide specialist advice and information directly to students via physical and digital mediums as appropriate on academic matters
• To support students when referring them to appropriate internal & external agencies
• To advise and inform students of their rights and responsibilities as students of the University of Gloucestershire
• To support students at meetings, appeals and hearings within the University
• Maintain generalist advice skills, knowledge and understanding of University regulations, policies and procedures that may affect the work of the advice service
• To be able to understand and explore the issues students present with a focus on expert advice to enable students to make informed decisions
• Take referrals from with partner providers i.e University, self-referrals and those from voluntary and statutory agencies

Case Work and Procedures

• Maintain accurate records of all advice cases at the SU via the case management system
• Ensure adherence to the requirements of data
• Promote the service and outreach where necessary
• Ability to listen and communicate effectively with a diverse range of people
• Have the ability to work with autonomy and use own initiative

Reporting and Policies

• Work alongside colleagues to support the development and success of the SU enhancement projects and campaigns
• To collate key information for the Student-led projects and feed into campaigns
• To monitor the matters raised via individual student cases to identify commen trends that could inform policy
