About the role

We organise our Policy & Ideas work around the following issue areas: families, work and care; housing, land and climate; community, place and social security; and macroeconomics and fiscal policy. This role will have a focus on either macroeconomics or fiscal policy, or both, whole also working to support out other policy themes. We want our work to confront the immediate manifestations of poverty and insecurity but also the deeper social and economic conditions on which these rest.

That’s where you come in.

We are seeking two Senior Economists, one full-time permanent role and one 12-month fixed term role, which could be either full-time or part-time. In both roles, we are looking for someone to develop and lead research projects that generate arguments, policies and ideas to address the social and economic challenges that underpin poverty and household economic insecurity in the UK today and chart a course to a different and better future.

You will devise, lead and deliver high quality economic analysis and thinking to JRF’s policy & ideas work and offer a professional economics perspective across the wider organisation – and as a trusted, expert voice externally. You will seek out and connect with people or organisations developing new ideas and strategies that can contribute to our mission; and to develop proposals for how JRF should use its platform and resources to support their development and diffusion.

About you

As a Senior Economist, we would like you to either have a professional economics training or equivalent professional work experience, advanced data analysis skills and the ability to use a wide range of tools and software to undertake large scale and groundbreaking economic analysis (including using micro-data from major national surveys).

With experience of working on policy issues relating to poverty, you will have significant experience of having initiated, designed, led and delivered projects that included original economic analysis that generated a different or better understanding of policy challenges and helped to guide new arguments and ideas. You will be able to think critically and creatively, analyse and problem solve, and contribute to the generation of new ideas and alternative ways of approaching an issue, able to communicate arguments and ideas persuasively, via writing and speaking.

You will have advanced knowledge and critical awareness of economic theory, principles, datasets and analytical techniques and how to deploy these effectively in support of understanding and addressing the drivers of household economic insecurity. With significant knowledge of one or both of macroeconomics or UK fiscal policy and a strong understanding of how policy making works across the UK, devolved and sub-national governments, you will have an awareness and engagement with relevant political, policy and intellectual debates, plus models and approaches to social change.

Role Purpose

You will be responsible for building and maintaining partnerships with hyperlocal, local, and national businesses, stewarding the organisations to become Mustard Tree’s partners, and for us to be their ‘Charity of the Year’, donating to and fundraising for the charity.

You will manage an existing caseload of these valued partners, with the opportunity to proactively create new relationships and partnerships, contacting through multiple channels, creating content, and hosting, touring, and presenting to businesses.

In addition to corporate partnerships, you will manage the recruitment and stewardship of Mustard Tree’s events fundraisers, being responsible for the administration, making sure all places are filled, planning the events, and helping all participants hit their fundraising targets.

Main Duties

Corporate Partnership

• Steward a cohort of existing Corporate Partners through email updates, calls, social media activity and booking monthly check-ins, as well as sharing infographics, case studies, events information, and newsletters when useful.
• Proactively build new relationships, ultimately securing new donors, partners, and ‘Charity of the Year’ organisations. Make it clear and easy for donors to understand what we do, how they can help, and the impact they will have.
• Host, tour, or present at a minimum of four organisations per week.
• Manage inquiries, emails, and queries relating to partnerships, corporate donations, volunteering, and events, ensuring timely responses.
• Manage the partnership inbox and work with the Fundraising team on our corporate bookings calendar.
• Work with the Fundraising and Volunteer Coordinator to plan and book Social Value Days for partners and prospective partners.
• Collaborate with the Fundraising and Communications team to develop and publish copy, advertisements, social media content, and create WordPress pages relevant to Corporate Partnership and Events.
• Host Corporate Partners for their volunteering inductions and debriefs and follow up with a thank-you email the same week.
• Manage data entry and administration surrounding partnerships, including communication, contacts, setting targets, and funds raised, through software and our CRM, for example.
• Work with the Fundraising Manager to assign new and existing partners
• Provide weekly updates on targets and expected income, and work to provide accurate forecasting.

Events Fundraising

• Manage our existing events portfolio of The Great Manchester Run, Tough Mudder, Trafford Abseil, October Half Marathon, being responsible for their success.
• Investigate and develop new events to complement our 12-month calendar.
• Empower organisations to plan independent fundraising events and create a fundraising toolkit to support this.
• Support the running of our October Fundraising Dinner
• Work with the Fundraising Manager to project events income and build a 12-month fundraising pipeline.

General Duties

• Supporting the Fundraising Team et al, including administration, cover, and events attendance when required.
• Support the Fundraising & Finance Teams with data entry, CRM updates, and the creation of KPI data when required.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role builds on the work of our Feminist Green New Deal  project. The Feminist Green New Deal puts the needs and priorities of women, racialised and marginalised groups at the heart of all climate policy and action and advocates for a care-led green recovery from our multiple crises of climate breakdown and inequality. The role will continue to develop our Feminist Green New Deal work engaging new audiences, stakeholders and writing new policy papers. 

As a Feminist Climate Justice Policy Campaigner you will make connections with policy makers, government departments, NGOs and influencers, bringing an intersectional feminist lens to these spaces. You will need to keep up to speed with UK climate policies and how these impact women. 

Wen works at the grassroots and policy level ensuring that grassroots perspectives are part of and shape climate policy making so a key part of the role will be linking these two levels.  You will work closely with our Climate Sisters  programme and the Tower Hamlets Food Partnership which inform our Feminist Green New Deal policy asks and campaigns, advocating for inclusive climate policy rooted in the priorities of women,  particularly racialised and marginalised groups.  We are looking to recruit a policy campaigner with in-depth  knowledge of the policy systems and strategic thinking about how to advocate for feminist climate justice at local, regional and national level in the UK working in collaboration with others.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Key responsibilities:

• Bring an intersectional feminist climate justice lens to policy makers and debates with a focus on climate, health, food justice and environmental policies

• Work collaboratively with Wen’s Climate Sisters team to make strong connections between the grassroots and policy, drafting and devising policy responses to influence government climate policy

• Develop strategic partnerships and relationships with MPs, government departments, All Party Parliamentary Groups (APPGs), Ministers, Select Committees and key organisations in this field

• Submit evidence to Select Committee reports, inquiries and input into draft bills

• Actively engage with civil society movements around climate justice and policy

• Produce a variety of resources on the issues such as policy briefings, blogs, social media posts and talks

Mind in Enfield and Barnet is a fast-growing charity in North London providing much needed therapy, wellbeing support and advocacy services to people with mental health problems. 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Community Care Coordinators to support some of our most vulnerable users of emergency services. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medical Devices Safety Engineer to join the Clinical Asset Team. Your role is to support the Procurement & Clinical Asset Manager and be responsible for and ensure a high level of compliance is maintained whilst overseeing maintenance responses, keeping pivotal databases up to date, updating jobs on the CAFM system, compliance reporting, and updating asset management systems.

Role Requirements

• Provide operational expertise to all matters pertaining to clinical assets including compliance, asset management, service management and lifecycle management.
• Working alongside the project teams for hoist and bath installations
• Ensuring clinical assets onsite are compliant or taken out of service.
• Ensuring LOLERs (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) and servicing are carried out with the preferred contracted suppliers.
• Supporting the Medical Devices Assistant to refer jobs to the appropriate contractor, using CAFM systems to create a document trail and manage frequently broken items, escalating issues to the Procurement and Clinical Asset Manager as appropriate.
• Approving purchase orders as required, appropriately storing relevant documents accessible to the team with expenditure tracked. Ensuring appropriate service contracts for all clinical assets are in place alongside any budget restrictions and existing commitments
• Assist with the implementation and changes made to processes within the Medical Device & Equipment Management Policy across site, for approval via the Procurement and Clinical Asset Manager and Head of Procurement & Contract Management
• Providing the Bed Audit Condition report to Therapy on a quarterly basis
• Overseeing bed/mattress/large equipment moves including those for new admissions with placements and attending admission meetings
• Chairing and planning the CAWG (Clinical Asset Working Group) taking of minutes and actions
• Overseeing clinical asset ticket closures
• Undertake other or additional duties that are within your skills and abilities, as the organisation may reasonably require from time to time.

We are looking for an experienced Philanthropy and Trust and Foundations fundraiser to join our passionate team. This exciting maternity cover role will oversee Trusts & Grants, Philanthropy and Prospect Research during a pivotal time of growth, ensuring each area continues to develop, scale and innovate to achieve lasting results in support of our ambitious 5-year fundraising strategy. 

The successful post-holder will be a proactive charity professional who can effectively nurture the Trusts & Grants team, supporting them to reach in-year and future targets and facilitating the continued growth of this area. The role will also comprise developing the Philanthropy stream, bringing exemplary relationship management and stewardship strategies to continue establishing the programme for long-term success. The post-holder will manage their own high-value portfolio of prospects across both areas in addition to supporting the work of their team. Working across the high-value function, Prospect Research also sits under this position, with a remit to support and facilitate collaboration and maximising all opportunities between Trusts, Philanthropy and Corporate Partnerships.

As a senior leader you will take an active role in representing Philanthropy and Trusts externally and internally. You will work with stakeholders across the charities to understand and translate charitable initiatives into dynamic funding propositions, and build deep relationships with trusts, foundations and individual donors.
