Community Project Lead

IPSEA is the leading charity in the field of SEND law in England, and we provide free and independent legal advice and support to families of children and young people with SEND. We also provide training on the SEND legal framework, and we influence policy at both a local and national level.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Community Project Lead to join our team and lead the development of our advice services for under-served communities. This two-year, fixed-term role is a key part of our strategy to reach groups who may not traditionally engage with IPSEA’s support - including children and families with English as an additional language, cared-for children (children in care), migrant children, detained children, and Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities.

The project builds on a detailed scoping exercise we’ve recently completed, which involved working closely with a wide range of charities and organisations that support these communities. The resulting report outlines the barriers they face, and will form the foundation for this project and directly inform the work you will lead.

What you’ll do 

• Design and develop pilot advice services that are tailored to the needs of under-served communities, using findings from IPSEA’s research 

• Build and maintain strong relationships with community groups, charities and service providers to co-produce accessible services 

• Collaborate with IPSEA’s advice, legal and policy teams to address the barriers these communities face in accessing SEND legal advice 

• Contribute to and share outreach materials, training resources and toolkits to support families of under-served communities and empower local advocates 

• Plan and lead workshops, focus groups and community events to raise awareness, gather feedback and enhance service delivery 

• Monitor and report on project outcomes and impact, providing regular updates to IPSEA staff and stakeholders

Role Purpose

The Operations Director is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective running of all operational aspects of Katherine Low Settlement. This role oversees the day-to-day operational leadership of the charity, ensuring that its systems, processes, and teams are aligned with strategic objectives and compliant with relevant legislation.

This position will lead on programme delivery, financial management, human resources, IT infrastructure, risk and compliance, governance, and facilities management, ensuring that the organisation operates smoothly and sustainably. The post-holder will act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), embedding a strong safeguarding culture across the organisation, and also be responsible for policy development and culture and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Organisational Strategy

• Provide strategic leadership for all operational functions, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s mission and strategic objectives.

About the role

Our Participation and Involvement Manager will build on existing practice across the organisation and lead on the implementation and further development of a participation and involvement framework, enabling a large and diverse range of kinship carers to share their views and expertise meaningfully, safely and effectively to shape Kinship’s activity. It will also support our growing participation and involvement activity which involves children, young people and young adults with experience of growing up in kinship care.

You will work closely with kinship carers and colleagues across the organisation to understand the key challenges and opportunities with embedding participatory methods, including co-production and co-design, which improve Kinship’s work – right from the design and delivery of our advice and support services through to influencing policy and campaigning for change.

With support from colleagues, you will act as the key cross-organisational adviser on participation and involvement practice, supporting and empowering colleagues to develop the skills and knowledge they need to embed a consistent approach to the involvement of kinship carers to best suit the needs of their roles.

The MND Association is looking for a Policy Manager to shape and lead our policy influencing activities across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. In this key role, you will develop and promote policy positions that ensure our voice is heard in public debates and among decision-makers. You'll work with a wide range of stakeholders to influence change and improve support for people living with and affected by motor neurone disease. We're looking for a Policy Manager with strong analytical skills, political insight and clear communication abilities, who can work confidently both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and develop policy, research and analysis work to position the MND Association in key debates
• Monitor and analyse public policy to identify barriers and propose evidence-based solutions to support campaigns, briefings and submission
• Communicate the MND Association's position through high-quality briefings, reports, submissions and speeches
• Develop and maintain relationships with policymakers, government officials, and key sector organisations
• Represent the Association in external policy and consultation forums
• Support the implementation and evaluation of the Association's Public Affairs and Campaigns strategy
• Keep internal colleagues informed of relevant policy developments
• Circulate policy positions to varied audiences in accessible formats
• Lead and support policy-related meetings, seminars and consultations
• Line-manage Policy Advisers and oversee commissioned projects where required

About You:

• In-depth knowledge of health and/or social policy in the UK
• Strong understanding of UK political systems, including Westminster and the devolved nations
• Proven experience in delivering impactful research and policy analysis
• A successful track record of policy development and influencing change
• Ability to interpret and comment on complex issues clearly and effectively
• Experience of managing staff and external consultants
• Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
• Willingness to travel across the UK and attend occasional evening or weekend events

The evaluation team works with schools and organisations, analysing the impact of programmes and interventions to help them do more of what works and less of what doesn’t. We work with more than 1,400 schools and 80 education organisations, serving more than a quarter of million pupils. This includes helping our partners to design high-quality research projects, delivering them, and providing systems and tools for data collection, reporting and impact benchmarking.

The Opportunity

The Manager role works across ImpactEd Evaluation. Our partners encompass education organisations such as charities, edtech organisations and government, and schools and multi-academy Trusts. We aim to deliver high-quality research and evaluation projects that help our partners make better decisions to benefit young people.

You will act as a consultant on a range of different partnerships to help partners develop their evaluation strategy and approach. For example, you could deliver independent evaluations for organisations like the Careers and Enterprise Company, Nesta or multi-academy Trusts such as Lift Schools. You will also have opportunities to contribute to development of team strategy and learning and development resources.

As a manager you will act as a project lead, delivering high-quality research projects at scale, and support the creation of specific deliverables for projects led by others. This covers the end to end of research design and delivery, including the creation of Theories of Change and evaluation frameworks, data collection and analysis, and impact reporting to help our partners learn about the effectiveness of their programmes. At manager level you will have the opportunity to take on larger-scope partnerships supported by a project sponsor at senior manager level or above.

We are open to a range of backgrounds, but would expect prior experience of research and evaluation delivery and partnership management. The Marketing Manager will plan, manage and deliver the Lyric’s marketing and audience development campaigns to achieve financial targets and maximise attendance across all activity, with a focus on Theatre productions. Project Operations Manager

Our client is a user-led pan-disability charity operating primarily in Buckinghamshire. They are a successful, dynamic and influential charity, focused on supporting disabled people by fixing the biggest issues facing them. They aim to build a world which is Fair4All, including disabled people.

Salary Range: £31,000 - £34,000 FTE depending on experience

The role:

The primary purpose of the Project Operations Manager role is to provide leadership to ensure that their project work is delivered successfully, to agreed targets, on time and within agreed budgets.

Responsibilities:

• To take charge of and lead their projects, and the staff and volunteers working on them. Ensure project work is delivered successfully, to agreed targets, on time and within agreed budgets. This includes project reporting, overseeing and managing website, media, online and other communications activities related projects, and managing project budgets.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of their Operational Plan.
• With the Trustee Board and grants team, support the revival of appropriate dormant projects and the creation of new projects. Contribute to and endorse grant applications and ensure funder targets and goals are met.

• With the Support Manager, positively influence the culture within their to ensure it remains an inclusive, diverse and effective working community and continue the charity’s policy of highly supportive and positive management of staff and volunteers, ensuring that their Values are upheld.
• Contribute to ensuring effective welfare and safeguarding policies are in place that are understood and regularly communicated to volunteers and employees.

About you:

They are seeking an experienced charity operations and/or projects manager who can bring skills, expertise and knowledge into their rapidly expanding charity.

Essential skills and experience:

• Previous experience of successfully managing UK charity or not-for profit projects and/or services, including financial and budgetary controls.
• A track record of proactive success in achieving project and service goals and outcomes.
• Previous experience of successfully managing staff and, ideally, volunteers.
• A proven ability to effectively plan and manage a mixed portfolio of tasks and activities, including managing your own time effectively.
• A track record of personal learning and development, adapting to changing circumstances, and proactively meeting challenges.
• Strong personal commitment to diversity and inclusion including the social model of disability. Must be able to work effectively with disabled people with all types of impairment.

Desirable skills and experience:

• Understanding impairments including neurodiversity, mental health, sensory loss, long-term conditions and physical disabilities.
• A highly supportive management style which removes barriers for disabled staff and volunteers to allow them to work in ways which are most effective for them.
• Knowledge of project management tools.

Our client works by permanently removing barriers facing disabled people and finding answers to the big issues facing them, alongside helping individuals. Their projects and partnerships deliver unique and lasting change and effective support that helps nearly all the 41,000 disabled people in Buckinghamshire – plus many beyond their county.

Uniquely, they are mainly voluntary charity. They have over 150 volunteers, mostly disabled people, supported by a small staff team, who themselves run their projects and services. Many of their volunteers are jobseekers or needing help to move forward in their lives and they actively support them by the way we work.
