About the role

The Lab is now working with Demos, a leading cross-party think tank and the Lloyds Bank Foundation on a collaborative project to celebrate community-led change across the country. The project will seek: (1) to connect an array of brilliant organisations creating new forms of public services and (2) write a narrative that puts this community-led innovation at the centre of broader efforts at rethinking how the state delivers for its citizens. The project will work with leaders across civil society, academia and the highest levels of politics to demonstrate the potential for community-led change to generate national renewal.

We are seeking a motivated individual to take on the role of Project Network Coordinator. They will report to the Director of the UCL Policy Lab and work closely with the team. The post is fixed term for the duration of nine months either full or part time with the possibility to be extended.

The post holder will be expected to work both at UCL but also on ad hoc occasions from the offices of our partner organisation, Demos.

The salary for this role is between £36,433 and £39,807 per anum dependent on experience and includes the London Allowance.

About you

The UCL Policy Lab wishes to appoint a Project Network Coordinator to help draw together representatives of a vast array of community-based organisations currently innovating in public service reform. The Coordinator will support the project team to develop a core coalition to drive forward the work. The individual will work closely with both the UCL Policy Lab team, Demos and other project partners in the oversight and delivery of events that bring these organisations together so that they can share their experiences and expertise. The individual will also help oversee and coordinate the programme of high-level private workshops exploring the policy implications of these organisations' activities, providing extensive service support to attendees as well as supporting the project to build up a wide network of key stakeholders.

The individual will be crucial to designing and delivering a high-quality experience for the participants as well as ensuring that the dialogue builds overtime and its richness is fully captured and shared with senior stakeholders. The individual will also run the sessions and assist the Lab with both research and administrative support in the run up to the events.

The post holder will report directly to the Lab's Director but also work closely with the Policy Lab team.

The post holder must be able to work flexibly, independently and proactively.

Duties and responsibilities

• Work with Lab leadership to recruit members for a new network of community-led public service innovators from across the UK
• Support Lab and Demos leaders engagement with senior stakeholders in the national government and the opposition, as well as the local movement, to help share findings and drive political impact.
• Build relationships with the key individuals in this sector to understand their contributions and concerns and be able to share them with others
• Assist with the delivery of engaging collaborative workshops for members of this network and the project team.
• Conduct interviews with network members and draft policy briefs and memos for circulation to the broader network and the policy team.
• Track and report impact from the network for internal purposes, marketing and various evaluation processes (e.g., writing website content, newsletters and contributing to final reports)
• Work with the UCL Policy Lab team to help deliver operational support for the activities of the project, including: contributing to shared infrastructure and tools; working with the Communications and Engagement manager to deliver wider impact; working with the Team to co-ordinate delivering of world class policy events, including our party conference programme.
• Manage a front of house team at events including PhD students or equivalent on short term placements.
• Follow and promote UCL policies, including Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), and maintain an awareness and observation of fire and health and safety regulations.

This is a key role working alongside our Senior Programme Manager and Senior Race Equity Specialist to shape our ways of working, to enable more and more ethnic diverse people to act for nature.

You will have 2 main areas of responsibility:

1. Supporting senior leaders, Achieving Race Equity taskforce members and the programme team, including coordinating tailored guidance, projects, activities and events, that drive and embed race equity initiatives across the RSPB. This will mean working closely with other parts of the organisation to understand their needs and skills gaps and developing solutions together that meet those needs. This role will act as the first point of contact for all matters concerning support for the taskforce
2. Lead on a ‘Principle Workstream’ within the Achieving Race Equity Programme and take responsibility for ensuring that projects and initiatives within key areas meet the objectives and are coordinated effectively.

This role will play an active role in communicating and engaging with stakeholders and senior management at different levels.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Demonstrated experience in driving coordinating and synchronising anti-racist/EDI change and trauma informed wellbeing initiatives with dispersed teams, in complex settings. This should include training and facilitation skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and influence at all levels of the organisation.
• Deep understanding of achieving race equity, intersectionality, and the impact of discrimination in the workplace. Familiarity with the Equality Act 2010 and best practices in race equity work, preferably within the conservation or related sector.
• Proven track record in coordinating multiple projects, activities, and events, managing resources, including financial, logistical support for group operations such as travel and accommodation, while delivering clear, engaging communications.
• Strong experience in creating accessible content across various formats (written, visual, digital) that engages diverse audiences around race equity issues with the ability to move people to action.
• Experience in working with and influencing senior stakeholders and effectively communicating change across the organisation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, and other digital communication and project management tools. Strong IT skills with the willingness to learn and adopt new technologies as required.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, build trust, and foster strong relationships across diverse groups.

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

Lepra is dedicated to addressing leprosy and lymphatic filariasis (LF) and their consequences through direct support, advocacy, and the promotion of inclusive communities. We work in Bangladesh and in India, through our sister organisation, LEPRA Society. We work in partnership with people affected by leprosy and LF to improve detection, ensure access to treatment and care, and promote inclusion and wellbeing. Last year we finalised our new Global Strategy for 2024-30, which will guide us in our efforts to accelerate progress towards global targets for leprosy and LF, and towards our vision of a world free from leprosy and LF.

Job Context

Our Global Strategy marks a significant evolution in our organisational direction, introducing innovative approaches and renewed priorities. This includes our first-ever global Theory of Change (ToC), our most comprehensive Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) framework to date, a Research and Innovation strategy, and a dedicated Advocacy sub-strategy to guide our influencing efforts.

With the Lepra Advocacy Strategy, we will be working over the next 6 years to strengthen our approaches to our advocacy efforts. Key responsibilities

Advocacy Delivery (50%)

Under the supervision of the DPA implement Lepra’s global Advocacy strategy and coordinate advocacy initiatives.

Serve as the driver of advocacy efforts, facilitating the transitional year of implementation including coordinating the Advocacy Steering Group; advocacy toolkit development; action planning.

Represent Lepra in specific fora and advocacy networks and within the broader leprosy and NTD community in close coordination with the DPA.

Produce quarterly advocacy newsletters

Maintain quarterly reports on flagging areas of concern and actioning steering committee advice.

Assist in the preparation of policy documents and the presentation of papers for publication, conferences, or specific institutions and/or individuals - identifying and targeting the most appropriate audiences.

Assist the programmes team with the documentation of Lepra examples and models of best practice, at the same time identifying and developing mechanisms and avenues for the effective dissemination of this knowledge – internally and externally.

Assist the programmes team, DPO, Chief Executive and Country Programme staff in the synthesis of complex technical/scientific information adapting it to language and formats easily used by target audiences.

Contribute to content development of community engagement materials (public information, brochures, leaflets) that help explain the operations and impact of Lepra’s work to LF and/or leprosy affected communities.

Maintain good working links with Lepra’s UK Fundraising and Communications Team, contributing towards UK facing communications materials as and when required.

Prepare updates, papers, and reports for trustee meetings, funding partners, and wherever else applicable.

External representation (10%)

Support the Chief Executive, DPA and programmes team to maintain and expand existing strategic relationships with key international stakeholders to further Lepra’s advocacy strategy and advance Lepra’s agenda.

Ensure Lepra’s external profile is raised and become the go-to organisation for the leprosy community in terms of advocacy and policy briefings.

Support the preparation of documents for presentation, publication or dissemination at international fora.

Develop/support the development of country specific briefing notes/press kits with the communications team.

Represent Lepra at key events, conferences, and meetings to enhance our visibility and opportunity for impact.

The Race Equality Foundation is an evidence-based charity working to dismantle systemic racism and improve outcomes for Black, Asian, and ethnically minoritised communities across the UK. We generate and share knowledge, influence policy and practice, and deliver programmes that make a tangible impact.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Researcher or Senior Researcher who is passionate about using evidence to tackle racism and inequality. Organised, reflective, and inquisitive, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering the Foundation’s research and policy work.

You will develop and lead projects exploring the persistence of racial inequalities and their consequences, identifying and sharing good practice, and developing potential solutions. Central to the way we work are intersectional and participatory approaches that place the voices of those with lived experience at the heart of our research, and you will be instrumental in embedding these principles in the projects you manage.

As part of the role, you’ll also take a leading role in disseminating findings to diverse audiences, influencing policy and practice, and developing and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including central and local government, funders, and voluntary and community sector partners.

MannionDaniels are looking to recruit an experienced Grants Manager (bi-lingual Portuguese- English) to support our Gavi CSO funding mechanism. The Grants Manager will need to have a background in health as they will be responsible for oversight of a portfolio of different sized grants, delivering immunization and health system strengthening programmes across different types of organisations and geographies. The Grants Manager will work collaboratively with technical colleagues to maximise results and minimise risk for a portfolio of projects. The role holder will support the performance and develop the capabilities of grantees and contribute to wider learning.

The Grants Manager provides a focal point to coordinate the technical, financial, and operational support to each grantee throughout the grant management process. The Grants Manager will work closely with the wider grant support team to ensure grants move efficiently through the grant management cycle and to coordinate technical assistance for grantees. In addition, the Grants Manager will support the design and delivery of further Gavi projects implementing technical assistance to CSOs in specific thematic areas and countries.

Schools’ Project Officer (4-5 days per week; 10 months contract with opportunity for renewal)

The job
This is a fantastic opportunity to join this fast-growing charity at a pivotal time, and make significant impact as our grass-roots Schools’ Project Officer. You will be visiting schools, explaining about what we do at assemblies and going for follow up sessions, and then giving email feedback to applications.

Who we are
We are a small lively charity promoting the personal development of year 12s in partner schools, through challenging activities that they design, plan and finally undertake adult-free. We invite students (individually or in groups) to develop their own challenges well outside their ‘comfort zones’, and to be responsible for every stage of the process. We help them plan and manage risk, and give them expenses funding. Our award winners have climbed the highest UK peaks, cycled to Paris, performed plays at school, harnessed green power via a bike, among many other imaginative and ambitious projects.   

Who we are looking for
We are looking for an energetic, talented and reliable candidate for our schools’ outreach team, inspiring high-quality applications for funding from Year 12s in our 85 partner London state schools (20% of the total).  There is scope to help shape our strategy. We are looking for competent project officer, ideally with experience of physical challenge, strong administrative skills and with strong writing skills: they will be comfortable working with students, and value personal challenge and development. He/she will be keen to work with a growing charity, and to support young people usually with a poverty of experience and opportunity.

The 10-month post is up to 4-5 days per week, based in Southwark, with frequent travel to schools across London. The salary is £26,600–£35,000 pa pro rata. Flexible working is considered.
