Practice Development Officer

We are looking for a Practice Development Officer to support the design and delivery of projects that influence local leaders and commissioners to improve the availability of evidence-based support for families across early family help and children’s social care.

The Role

The organisation supports local areas to use evidence to improve their services and outcomes for children and families. The Practice Development Officer will be part of a team who work with local leaders to support their decision making about how to increase the availability of services and approaches which have evidence of improving child outcomes.

As Practice Development Officer, you will support work that helps local services for children and families use evidence more effectively across Family Hubs, Family Help, and statutory social work. You will contribute to projects aligned with Foundations’ priority areas, including domestic abuse, supporting parenting, strengthening family networks and relationships for care experienced children. 

Your tasks will include organising and coordinating activities that support service improvement, designing and delivering learning sessions to build skills and confidence in using evidence, supporting the generation of new evidence to understand what works, and working with national organisations to promote the wider use of evidence in practice.

About You

We are looking for someone with an in-depth understanding of UK policy, legislation and practice relating to children’s services, including how this responds to the needs of vulnerable and disadvantaged groups.

You will have experience of:

• Practice in children’s social work and/or early intervention services
• Co-ordinating projects for service improvement or practice development in a relevant sector, for example local authority children’s services, health, or NHS
• Translating complex information into practical messages, advice, and tools.

Engagement Coordinator 

Brighton and Hove Speak Out is a dynamic local advocacy charity. We support people with learning disabilities to have a voice and choice and control over their lives through providing a range of advocacy services and community projects.    

We are seeking to appoint a part time Advocacy and Engagement Coordinator to deliver a programme of engagement and consultation activity. The post holder will support people with learning disabilities to have their say about local services, share their experience about how support and services impact on their lives and make recommendaitions for improvements.

The role involves organising outreach and consultation on different issues. The post holder will support a group of self-advocates (the Link Group) to take part in planning, running and reporting to the Learning Disability Partnership Board.  

The Post Holder will also support health advocacy, training and awareness raising at Speak Out. They will support the ‘Thumbs Up' campaign led by a group of Speak Out members.

About you

The successful candidate will need excellent communication and organisational skills, including report writing, and will be able to manage a complex workload. Experience of advocacy and/or group work with vulnerable clients is essential. Knowledge of learning disability services and experience of working with people with learning disabilities is an advantage.

The Role

You will have experience of project management and creation of high calibre income generating events, including gala dinners and be used to managing events from concept to delivery, including oversight of the project budget and expenditure. As Development Manager you will have the opportunity to shape the future of our Trusts & Foundations programme by cultivating new relationships and securing substantial funding from trusts, foundations, and statutory bodies. In addition, you will also play a key role in advancing our income generation from businesses and contribute to the development of our events and funder communications.

Your role will include:   

• Securing funding for diverse aspects of our work against Hubbub’s annual fundraising target, from core costs to specific roles, to scaling successful projects.   

• Contributing to the growth of the Trusts fundraising pipeline, nurturing new relationships with both solicited and unsolicited prospects, and supporting colleagues to do the same.   

• Working closely with Project Leads and Directors to deliver engaging and persuasive trusts and statutory proposals that expertly match funding criteria to Hubbub’s projects and priorities.    

• Identifying external networking opportunities for yourself and the wider team to increase our visibility amongst potential funders and build new relationships.  

• Undertaking regular prospect research to identify new Trusts that align with Hubbub’s strategy, focus areas and projects  

• Strengthening existing Trusts relationships by showcasing our impact through timely reporting, and delivering donor stewardship to high standards.  

• Updating our funder database (Pipedrive), with relevant funder information in a timely manner.   

• Keeping up with environmental and philanthropic developments and trends so you can join the dots between the urgent environmental challenges that we face, the sustainability ambitions of funders and our own strategic objectives.  

• You will also be expected to join in-person funder meetings whenever required, likely in and around London. 

You will also support:  

• The wider team to secure income from businesses. This will involve developing introduction decks, employee engagement offerings, client proposals and more.  

• Hubbub events by contributing to ideas, compiling invitee lists, and drafting invitations.  

• A variety of other activities that will support our income generation when required.  

Who you are 

• You’re motivated and ambitious, with a tenacity to work towards targets. You will likely have contributed to and secured 5-6 figure grants from Trusts and statutory bodies. You’re open to taking risks and learning from failure. 

• You’re an excellent bid writer and enjoy converting complex projects into winning proposals with funders’ motivations and criteria in mind.

•  Your relationship building skills are top-notch, both virtual and IRL. You’re confident developing new funder relationships from scratch, whilst nurturing existing ones. You enjoy getting away from your desk and finding opportunities to network. 

• You have a deep understanding of how trusts and foundations work and are open to sharing your knowledge with colleagues.

• You’re collaborative and able to work across all levels of an organisation, managing up and down when needed, to produce high quality bids on time and on budget. 

• You’ll enjoy researching and prioritising new Trusts funders to approach. 

•  It would be a bonus if you have experience fundraising from businesses and/or high net worth individuals, plus utilising a CRM system to not just track deals but identify useful insights.

Donnington Doorstep family centre is an independent, community-based children’s centre. The Finance and Admin Manager is a member of the Senior Management Team with an important role to play in a much loved local charity.

The Finance and Admin Manager will ensure that Donnington Doorstep maintains accurate, usable and appropriate financial systems for banking, payments, invoicing, recording and reporting. They will also oversee key aspects of HR, administrative procedures and policy as well as ensuring the smooth operation of the organisation.

You will be instrumental in the quality and impactful implementation, delivery and retention of our sites. You will oversee the delivery of exceptional outcomes in support of the charity's mission. We are recruiting for Service Manager who is passionate about supporting survivors who are impacted by domestic abuse and other gender-based crimes.  This is a multifaceted, fast paced, and exciting role where you will join our team in Hounslow & Hillingdon to lead on the delivery and development of high-quality refuge services for survivors of domestic abuse and other gender-based crimes. Our service provision in Hounslow & Hillingdon includes number of refuges supporting survivors and their children.

The post holder will provide line management and support to the accommodation based services staff. This will include providing supervision on complex and high-risk cases, overseeing operational emergencies, and ensuring high standards of casework. You will also ensure that all service users in refuges always receive a high-quality support service in line with Refuge’s policies and procedures.

The Service Manager will lead on the delivery of the multiagency aspect of work, working jointly with the Refuge teams and wider stakeholders to deliver best services to the survivors.

Candidates must have proven experience of providing direct emotional and practical support to vulnerable people, managing, and motivating staff, managing casework as well as working within multiagency setting.  In addition, you must have an excellent knowledge of domestic abuse and other gender-based violence and its impact on survivors.  

You will have knowledge of relevant Criminal and Civil law legislation, as well as Housing and Health and Safety legislation.   

As member of the management team, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours on call management service.

The service manager will be responsible for ensuring that contractual and other funding requirements are met fully, this includes ensuring that the services operate within the allocated budget and that Refuge’s high-quality standards are maintained. The role may involve visiting potential sites and contributing to the establishment of new services in conjunction with the development team.

The Data & Research Manager plays a key role in Youth Futures Foundation’s Impact and Evidence team, helping us understand and address youth unemployment in England.

The postholder will lead on managing our data infrastructure including our flagship youth labour market dashboard and contribute to the design, commissioning, and delivery of high-quality quantitative research and analysis.

They will combine strong technical skills with the ability to communicate data-driven insights clearly to internal and external audiences, influencing policy and practice to improve employment outcomes for young people.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Managing the design, commissioning and delivery of economic, quantitative social research and data analysis projects using a wide range of methods, including primary and secondary data analysis, and evidence reviews
• Critically reviewing research proposals, manage contracts and budgets, and ensure high quality outputs
• Developing evidence tools, gap maps and frameworks to address youth unemployment, and identify and prioritise evidence gaps to meet stakeholder needs
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with a range of external partners.

About this role

Over the past two years, SPANA has made significant investments in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL), culminating in the establishment of an independent MEAL team within the Global Programmes Directorate. Led by the Head of Data Insight and MEAL, this team works collaboratively with the Programme Quality and Development, Animal Health and Welfare and Education, Community Education and SBCC teams to strengthen evidence-based programming and impact measurement.

The MEAL Manager plays a central role in advancing SPANA’s MEAL systems, providing technical expertise and support to SPANA UK staff and over 20 global partners. The role contributes to the design and implementation of MEAL frameworks that effectively measure the organisation’s impact on the health and welfare of working animals. In addition, the MEAL Manager promotes innovative approaches to data use, supports evidence-based learning and line manages the Data Insights Officer.

Contract, location and salary

This is a full-time (34.5 hours per week), permanent role. This role is UK based, hybrid working with regular attendance (approximately 1-2 days per month, or more if preferred) in our London office. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK currently and for the duration of the contract. 

The salary for this position is c.£45,000 per annum, subject to skills and experience. SPANA is pleased to offer a range of benefits including a generous company pension scheme with 10% employer contribution if the employee contributes a minimum 5%, and health care cash plan.
