Our mission is to support students from under-resourced backgrounds to access top universities, through a unique combination of tuition and in-school mentoring. We work with them to make good applications, get the grades and transition to university.
The programme combats educational inequality and improves social mobility by raising students’ grades and supporting them to understand the pathway to a top university. Students who receive support from our programme are more than twice as likely to attend top universities as statistically similar students, according to UCAS.

Founded in 1903, Fauna & Flora International (FFI) is the world’s longest established international conservation organisation. Our vision is to create a sustainable future for the planet where biodiversity is conserved by the people living closest to it. We aim to do this through the conservation of threatened species and ecosystems worldwide, choosing solutions that are sustainable, based on sound science and take account of human needs. We have become a trusted entity in the world of conservation. Today FFI is active in over 40 countries.
Impact monitoring plays a key role in conservation management — to ensure effective delivery of projects — and is something that donors are increasingly interested in seeing. This internship will provide an opportunity for someone at the start of their conservation career to gain experience in the design, development and implementation of robust project Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) processes, developing skills in data handling and management essential for assessing impact of project activities.
This internship will support current work to design and deliver MEL at the project level and across the Africa programme portfolio, by helping to support establishing systems and processes that enable the analysis and presentation of data gathered as part of Fauna & Flora’s work in Uganda.
As part of our work in Uganda, members of the community have been collecting data on chimpanzee sightings, threats and human-wildlife conflict. However, the systems and methods used to collect this data have changed over time, making comparing data between years and identifying conservation impact achieved challenging. This inconsistency in data management is a challenge faced across Fauna & Flora that we are seeking to address.
During this internship, you will work with the Uganda team, who have been working alongside partners to conserve chimpanzees in a human-dominated landscape since 2014, and the Conservation Design & Impact (CDI) team, who aim to support and increase biodiversity conservation impact across Fauna & Flora’s global portfolio and the communities and partners with whom we work. Working with both teams, you will help ensure that community-gathered chimpanzee datasets are utilised to their full potential to maximise impact of the project. You will focus on cleaning, analysing and presenting existing data, as well as ensuring that future data collection systems allow for updated analysis to be conducted quickly and easily. You will work closely with the Uganda Team to ensure that anything developed fits their current and future needs but learnings from your work will also be applied to other Fauna & Flora projects.
You will learn about the importance of impact monitoring to conservation projects, as well as specific technical skills in data analysis and presentation, in particular, geographic information system (GIS) skills. You will learn about chimpanzee conservation, particularly the issues facing the species in a subsistence farming-dominated landscape. Finally, you will learn how a busy international NGO works, and have the opportunity to build networks in the sector.
Note that this internship has been designed to create a professional development opportunity for people who are new to the conservation sector. Therefore, applicants should have less than two years paid or unpaid experience in the conservation sector (not including academic work).
This role is not eligible for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker Visa.
The closing date for applications is 28 June 2024. Interviews are likely to take place during the week commencing 15 July 2024.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.

Do you want to be part of making a difference to, and supporting, the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector across Hampshire?
Action Hampshire works with communities across Hampshire and beyond on innovative, impactful, asset based projects. We support communities to have their voices heard and to take action together. We support and partner with a range of voluntary community and social enterprise organisations to help make great things happen. We celebrate diversity and challenge inequalities.
You will support the design, delivery, evaluation and resourcing of projects, by providing high-quality support and co-ordination as a member of several project delivery teams. This is a multi-faceted role, with opportunity to grow and develop. You’ll work across the organisation, involved in many different projects and collaborating with colleagues across the team.
You will be self-motivated and committed to delivering results in order to solidify Action Hampshire’s reputation as a trusted and impactful deliverer of funded projects and services. You will be committed to Action Hampshire’s values and have an understanding of, and an empathy with, the culture and values of the VCSE sector.
Joining a friendly and supportive team, you’ll be able to manage your own time and work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues, communities and partner organisations. There may also be opportunity to work on other innovative Action Hampshire projects. In this role you will be able to grow valuable experience of the voluntary sector and know you are making a real difference to people and communities across Hampshire.
There has never been a more exciting time to join our talented, expert and friendly team. Our senior leadership team is working to embed our new culture and ways of working, driven by our values of being bold, enterprising, informative, and empowering. We very much welcome applications from all members of the community, regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, faith or disability.
We work collaboratively in support of strong, connected and equitable communities.

The Meridian One Community Garden serves as a space where we focus on cultivating fruit, salad, and vegetable produce. We involve the local community by hosting weekly volunteer gardening sessions, welcoming school visits, and organising various community events.
TCV is seeking a Senior Project Officer with expertise in community engagement, event coordination, and managing community facilities. The garden, which was established one year ago, encompasses facilities such as an office, a community meeting/education room, toilets, and a spacious polytunnel.
The Senior Project Officer will oversee a range of tasks including planning and executing community events, maintaining site Health & Safety, leading volunteers in practical projects like building wooden planters, tending to garden plants, and ensuring timely completion of administrative duties such as procurement, risk assessments, social media updates, and task reporting. They will also lead activities for the under 5’s Nature Explorers group, school visits, themed evening events, and family weekends. Additionally, they'll organise corporate volunteering sessions and cover holiday shifts for the Green Gym gardening program. Previous events have included 'Pampering and Enrichment,' 'Repurpose, Recycle, Reinvent' workshops, and a Black Women in Conservation and Horticulture photo exhibition, as well as our weekend family events featuring free food, music, and arts and crafts activities.
This role involves being friendly and open to various people who visit, from the toddlers attending the Nature Explorers club, to our volunteer gardeners, to senior staff from the local authority. There are two other people working part-time at the garden, and TCV provides thorough training and support from a helpful local team.
Ideally, we’re looking for someone with experience of gardening and/or nature conservation. However, what’s equally important is that the Senior Project Officer has initiative, is welcoming, and comfortable working with a wide range people. We’d therefore welcome applications from candidates who can display those personable qualities, with perhaps experience of working in a community centre setting.
In Spring 2024, TCV will be taking on the management of an additional nearby meanwhile space. The new Senior Project Officer will join us at an exciting time when we begin to turn that space into a new community tree nursery. Working with local people to gather seeds from significant trees in the surrounding area, we aim to grow saplings which will go on to be distributed for planting around London.
Working hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Given the nature of the role the Senior Project Officer will need to work from the garden during these times. Occasionally, to avoid lone working in the absence of another colleague, there will be the opportunity to work from home. Weekend family events take place on Saturdays, four times a year and there are approximately six evening events which take place between April to September. This post holder would be expected to attend those evening and weekend events.
We are happy to consider any reasonable adjustments that candidates may need during the recruitment process, and you will be asked whether you require any during your application. If you would like to discuss your requirements further please contact the People Team. We also offer reasonable adjustments on the job.
* A full driving licence would be ideal, though not essential, as the post holder has use of a company vehicle.
* This post is subject to an enhanced CRC check due to the activities working with children and vulnerable adults.
