About the Role:

You will play an active role in identifying, cultivating, securing, managing and retaining donors, and soliciting major gifts, with the full support of the Executive Leadership Team and Chair of Trustees.

Here's a summary of your key responsibilities:

• Prospect and cultivate new individual supporters to donate 5 figure gifts using a variety of tactics, such as attending in person networking events, gaining introductions from our Development Board, Trustees and other senior supporters
• Personally manage a prospect pool of individuals to steward and re-engage to donate 5 figure gifts
• Maximise the partnership opportunities with the Lord Mayor’s Appeal.
• Develop written materials and proposals to engage prospective individual donors and report on the impact of their donations
• Develop stewardship and cultivation activities (e.g. webinars/ drinks receptions for mid-level donors)
• Use the support of senior leadership and members of the Board of Trustees to cultivate prospects as needed
• Work with colleagues to identify and scope new high value partnership prospects and application opportunities
• With the support of the Head of Development, develop and implement the donor giving strategy
• Report against income, expenditure and other targets
• Keep MQ’s central database up to date with all prospect actions

About You:

This role is for you if you are self-motivated and an experienced relationship fundraiser and driven to ensure that targets are hit and projects are delivered to the highest possible standards.

You will have demonstrable experience of managing 4 and 5-figure+ gifts from donors and be a sophisticated communicator with the confidence to build relationships with and inspire colleagues and donors.

Essential role requirements include:

• Previous major donor fundraising experience
• Exceptional communication skills particularly in understanding and translating complex information and turning it into compelling written proposals
• Has a can-do attitude
• Demonstrates a commercial mindset
• Good interpersonal, influencing and relationship-management skills, at all levels.
• Willingness to attend networking events as required

Desirable Skills:

• Experience of Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge/NXT is desirable but not essential.
• Background or study in relevant fields of mental health sciences

Responsibilities 

·Handle incoming enquiries and provide accurate, timely and appropriate responses, briefing journalists in line with RCS England key messages and priorities.

Summary of the position

Epic is looking for a Development Manager to support the activities of the UK Development Team to help us ‘make giving the norm’.

The Development Manager will work with the UK Director in our small team in the UK, as well as working closely with colleagues in Paris and Brussels. 

This position offers candidates the opportunity to develop their skills across a range of fundraising disciplines including corporate fundraising, major donor engagement, events, and philanthropy. 

This position will work with a deeply engaged team in an international environment. Given the versatile nature of the responsibilities and the small team size, candidates will need to show demonstrable flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to take ownership and work independently.

Key Responsibilities :

With support from the UK Director, the Development Manager will work collaboratively with the Director and wider UK team and Development colleagues in Paris and Brussels to execute the fundraising strategy in the UK. The Development Manager is a key role in a small team, and will contribute new ideas, networks and results to help us meet our income targets and therefore create more positive impact for children and young people globally. More specifically, the key responsibilities of this role are outlined below.

1. Business Development (65%)

• Lead prospect research and outreach efforts to expand Epic’s prospect donor pool in the UK: monitor the fundraising ecosystem, conduct in-depth prospect research and engage in proactive outreach campaigns through LinkedIn, emailing, digital networking and in-person events. This will include attending early morning and evening events as required.
• Set conversion objectives and support conversion from leads to donations
• Identify and secure lead opportunities within networks and events
• Pitch Epic and its various Giving Solutions to potential donors, and build tailored proposals when needed
• Maintain high discipline and consistency in follow-up with leads and donors: use Epic’s CRM to build a consistent pipeline of prospects, as well as maintaining the database with accurate and up to date donor information
• Evaluate and monitor the return on investment (ROI) of events and fundraising campaigns
• Prepare compelling fundraising communications, materials and presentations for donor meetings and events

2. Nurturing & engaging the UK Community (20%)

• Contribute to Epic’s engagement strategy for current donors to ensure an 80% renewal rate
• Maintain regular touchpoints with a subgroup of donors through activities such as sharing monitoring reports, organising project visits and volunteering opportunities in the UK, and scheduling regular calls and face to face meetings. 
• Act as the main point of contact for a subset of donors and answer their enquiries in a timely manner
• Craft and manage engagement opportunities such as UK events and webinars, including drinks, talks, breakfast events, and provide support to the organisation for the annual gala nights. Support will be provided for certain events by our in-house dedicated Events team.

3. Fundraising-related administration (15%)

• Manage donor-related administrative tasks, such as regular use of Epic’s CRM (Salesforce), donation forms, meeting preparation, minutes (where applicable), and 
• Process all donations, using Salesforce and related donation platforms, in a timely manner each month
• Liaise with international fund vehicles, such as Myriad USA, to ensure all international donation commitments are fulfilled. 

Position Requirements :

• Candidate must have the right to work in the United Kingdom
• Excellent level of English (both spoken and written) required
• Proficiency in French (written and spoken) highly desirable 
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a sales, fundraising or business development role, with demonstrable experience of securing 5- and 6-figure gifts
• Experience within the charity sector is desirable but not required
• Experience using software packages such as Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Canva and other applications
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to attend external events (including evening events) and comfortable networking with a variety of people across different communities
• Experience with a CRM is required and preferably some experience of using Salesforce 
• Strong self-discipline and project management skills
• Excellent organisational skills and a strong eye for detail

The Epic UK team is a small but dedicated team. The role requires flexibility and a start-up attitude. This is a full time, permanent position, based in the London office with the opportunity for two remote working days each week. This role reports to the UK Director and will involve closely working with Epic’s global development team, as well as with the Engagement, Programs, Marketing and Communications, and Operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as lead for our website, social media channels and any future digital products for the Foundation brand, overseeing the day to day management of these channels and ensuring a pipeline of engaging content that supports communications objectives. 

• Take a UX approach to content planning and channel management. Design, test and optimise targeted user journeys across all our channels. 

• Take ownership for developing content for our Digital channels, including copy, images, gifs, and other formats of content. At times working alone, or collaborating with the corporate communications team. 

• Work highly collaboratively with content and communications colleagues to ensure that our channels support the publication and promotion of our relevant and engaging content.  

• Work closely with the corporate communications team, and advise on digital marketing strategy to make sure our website and content are discoverable by our audiences and engaged with, including managing our SEO and paid advertising campaigns via agency partners. 

• Develop our measurement and reporting framework, making sure that data and actionable insights are captured and shared with teams to inform day to day decision making ensuring we’re driven by results.

Responsibilities

About the Youth Endowment Fund

We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.

Last year, 244 people in England and Wales tragically died after being assaulted with a knife. Of these, 32 were children. Every child captured in these numbers is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them. Even when violence doesn’t strike directly, we know that the fear of violence has a terrible effect on children’s lives. One in 12 women will be a victim of violence against women and girls each year in England and Wales. Our Children, Violence and Vulnerability (CVV) research with teenage children showed that 33% of teenagers have encountered online content that encourages violence against women and girls.

The Youth Endowment Fund exists to try and permanently change things. To succeed, we must build an exceptional body of knowledge about violence affecting young people and how we reduce it. This knowledge has to be both rigorous and highly relevant to those making decisions about how to support vulnerable young people. We need to find out what works and what doesn’t through evidence synthesis, data analysis and qualitative research into children’s lives. We need to convert this into highly accessible content on what works, how delivery organisations need to change their practice and how the systems they operate in need to be reformed. We then need to work with the right people that can make change happen, across systems, policies and practice, to have a real impact on reducing violence affecting children’s lives.

Violence against Young Women and Girls

At the heart of our work is getting clear on what works. We are looking for someone who can lead our research and change agenda on violence against young women and girls (VAWG). We have built the foundations of this work by:

• developing our understanding of experiences of violence through our Children, Violence and Vulnerability (CVV) research with teenage children;
• reviewing evidence on the effectiveness of interventions that aim to prevent relationship violence and violence affecting young women and girls, which is summarised in our Toolkit; and
• ensuring a strong focus on VAWG prevention in our Education Systems Guidance and Education Practice Guidance, based on the evidence we have for relationship violence prevention delivery in education settings.  

There is still a lot to do. We need to fund new research to fill gaps in our understanding of what works. We need to turn this evidence into actionable recommendations and sustainable change that will keep children safe from violence.

Key Responsibilities

The Violence against Young Women and Girls Lead will lead the VAWG research and change agenda for YEF. 

You will:

Be the YEF’s expert on VAWG

• Making sure we understand the key issues, stay on top of the latest research and are connected to the right people.

Lead YEF’s research agenda on VAWG

• Commissioning research that fills important gaps in knowledge and leads to important changes in policy and practice.

Develop evidence-based recommendations on the prevention of VAWG.

• Drawing on research and expert insight to produce recommendations for systems and practice guidance, across the seven essential sectors that we work with: children’s services, education, health, neighbourhoods, policing, youth services, and youth justice.
• Writing and publishing evidence briefings and recommendations for policy makers and system leaders about how to prevent VAWG.
• Working across YEF teams to ensure that YEF recommendations on VAWG are incorporated across our evidence and change products, including systems, sector and practice guidance, the Toolkit and implementation resources.

Develop and lead a change strategy.

• Developing great relationships with senior leaders, policymakers, commissioners, and key stakeholders connected to VAWG across England and Wales.
• Generating a strong understanding of key issues and needs across systems and sectors and building credibility and trust in YEF’s evidence products and recommendations.
• Creating practical tools and resources that help leaders put evidence into action.
• Developing, managing and tracking your change plan to get more senior leaders to be aware of and use our guidance, tools and resources, continuously looking for data-driven improvements.
• Delivering events and presentations to effectively connect people with the evidence.

As a senior member of staff in the organisation you also:

Secondments

We are open to candidates that would prefer to join us on a 12-month secondment. Secondment candidate should ensure that their current organisation is in support of this in principle, all candidates will go through the full interview process. Candidates should state clearly in their covering letter if they would like to join us as secondee.

Hybrid Working Details

The office is based in Central London. Those living in and around London are expected to be in the office for a minimum of 2 days per week. If you live outside of London and work remotely, you’ll be expected to work from the London office 2 days per month.

Interview Process

This will be a two-stage panel interview process. The first stage interview will take place in week commencing the 23rd June 2025.

Shortlisted candidates, invited to an interview, we will ask you to prepare a 10-minute presentation on the main issues that the Youth Endowment Fund should be addressing related to Violence against young women and girls.

The second stage interviews are currently scheduled for the week commencing 30th June 2025.
