Director

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader, with a passion for giving children the best possible start and with a strong belief in the power of communities. The role will work both locally and nationally, as part of the wider team. 

The Director will manage our client’s existing programme in Redcar and Cleveland with a talented and committed team (10 staff). They will also develop and manage the new programme in Middlesbrough, currently in Discovery phase, and recruit a staff team of 8- 10 people, with support from the charity’s central team.  Once set up, the Director will lead the following across both areas: 

• Building relationships and networks in the areas, across the public, voluntary and private sector 

• Leading the team to support delivery of the charity's local early years strategy in the areas

• Leading the delivery of a portfolio of complementary workstreams, continuously refining and strengthening the work so that we make the greatest possible positive difference to local children and families 

• Working closely with local partners and the national team to ensure that data and learning is captured and fed into strategic thinking and our national model 

Supported by our central team, the Director will enable local stakeholders to collectively support parents and children under 5, to improve outcomes in the early years and particularly improve levels of school readiness. Crucial to this work will be engaging with and empowering local parents who are the key to successful delivery of the initiative.

The Role

The Head of Events is a crucial role, with responsibility for the overall strategic and operational leadership of BAUS’s events portfolio, which is their main source of income. The Person

We are looking for a someone with a proven track record in managing large scale conferences and events at a senior and strategic level. Ideally with experience working in a membership organisation, you should have strong strategic skills in project management, planning and budget management.

You should have the ability to build and maintain senior-level relationships with committees, sponsors, and partners and we are looking for someone who possesses the knowledge and expertise to negotiate, influence and solve problems. Most importantly, you will need to be pro-active, passionate and reliable. Please note that due to the requirements of this role, you must also be able to work flexibly to attend events when required (although the charity will pay expenses and operates a TOIL system).

• Manage and grow a transformational partnership between Allen & Overy Shearman (A&OS) and United for Global Mental Health (UnitedGMH), ensuring it delivers strategic value, visibility, and impact.
• Act aUnitedGMH’s lead within A&OS, and A&OS’s liaison within UnitedGMH to foster collaboration, alignment, and shared purpose across both organisations.
• Leverage A&OS’s global network, expertise, and community to advance UnitedGMH’s mission, amplify rights-based mental health advocacy, and drive strategic engagement to support fundraising.

ENGAGEMENT:

• Collaborate with partners and senior colleagues to design innovative campaigns and activities that drive fundraising engagement and maximise strategic value for UnitedGMH. 
• Coordinate across the fundraising team to ensure alignment, foster collaboration, and unlock shared opportunities. 
• Partner with the Director of Fundraising to develop annual plans and long-term strategies, integrating budget planning and impact forecasting.

DELIVERY:

• Provide high-quality account management, working with A&OS to develop innovative ways to support UnitedGMH’s objectives and fundraising targets

4. Global Office Fundraising Activities

• Collaborate with external agencies, travel providers, and suppliers to coordinate partnership activities
• Engage A&OS staff in UnitedGMH campaigns and events (e.g. International Youth Day, World Mental Health Day, Pride)
• Work closely with National Partners to gather and synthesise qualitative and quantitative evidence of impact, including stories, case studies and oversee financial grant management and reporting.

Provide timely and tailored support to A&OS, including:

1. Responding to queries
2. Delivering marketing assets and drafting communications
3. Creating content and campaign plans in collaboration with UnitedGMH’s communications team

• Compile regular updates to inspire A&OS staff and Ambassadors, in collaboration with their Marketing & Communications team.Liaise with the Global Mental Health Action Network team to share project updates and ensure programme delivery.
• Explore new opportunities to grow the quality and impact of the partnership, including potential new business initiatives.

Strategy & Sector Insight

• Stay informed on sector developments and competitor activity to inform innovative, legally sound partnership strategies.
• Support the Director of Fundraising in delivering the overall Corporate Partnerships strategy and operational plan.

Administration & Logistics

• Maintain a clear and accurate virtual filing system for all partnership activity and donations.
• Update relevant database records to ensure smooth tracking and reporting
• Conduct research and coordinate logistics for programme visits and events, with support from the Finance & Operations Officer

• Take responsibility for personal learning and development, participating in supervision, training, and team meetings.

Role overview
We’re looking for a proactive and organised Programme Coordinator to help keep our busy calendar of classes, events, and community activities running like clockwork. This is a varied role with a focus on bookings and administration, alongside outreach, communications, and reporting, helping us reach more people, share our story, and measure the difference we make. The role will be onsite at our teaching space in Hackney. You’ll play a really key role in our team, making sure everyone, from our chef educators to our school partners, has the right information at the right time. You’ll coordinate the scheduling of a range of programmes, from weekly school sessions to seasonal events, ensuring each is delivered smoothly, safely and to a high standard. Key Responsibilities
Programme & Administrative Coordination

• Act as the first point of contact for all incoming enquiries via phone, email, and in-person show-arounds.
•  Manage and maintain the shared bookings calendar, ensuring schedules are accurate and up to date.
•  Coordinate all aspects of school, after-school, and holiday cooking programmes — including outreach, scheduling, and briefing the delivery team.

• Produce engaging content for social media, newsletters, and the website to shout about what we do.
• Create and update promotional materials using tools such as Canva.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

• Keep our Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning framework up to date, recording key data monthly and termly to record and evaluate our impact.

• Support the preparation of reports, case studies, and impact stories.
