East London Waterworks Park is a charity that has raised £2m towards buying land from the Department for Education to transform the 14-acre Thames Water Depot on Lea Bridge Road on the border of Waltham Forest and Hackney, into a new biodiverse park with natural swimming ponds, forest schools and community spaces. 

We are looking for communications strategists and PR to participate in our community-led working group who are promoting public awareness and support of the project. 

There is opportunity to lead on projects across communications, content creation, social media, PR, newsletters, film, podcasts or any other channels of interest, and facilitate the direction of the working group.

The Comms Circle currently meets fortnightly on a Tuesday evening on Google Meet and spends voluntary time outside of the meeting completing agreed tasks remotely.

You should be experienced in implementing effective strategic communications, managing media relations and social media platforms by creating engaging content, and building online communities. Strong writing and editing skills for various materials including press releases and social media posts. Comfortable with community-led processes. Our roles are quite flexible. Contribute to the creation of a new biodiverse community-owned park with free access natural swimming ponds. The number of care-experienced children in the UK growing; research tells us that these children are more likely to experience social, emotional and mental health problems, so we believe that Reading Heroes is a more important project than ever.

We have found that the Reading Heroes scheme has helped the children involved with their reading and other literacy-based skills, but these are not our primary purposes. Nabweru Community Initiative for Youth Empowerment

We empower youth in Uganda through entrepreneurship, child advocacy, HIV/AIDS awareness, climate action, sports, culture, and capacity building.

While NCIYE promotes good agricultural practices and empowers youth in farming, there is a significant challenge in providing adequate resources, training, and tools for youth to fully implement sustainable and effective farming methods. Many youth lack access to modern farming technology and knowledge about advanced agricultural practices that could help them increase productivity and improve income. Health Awareness and Accessibility:

Despite efforts to combat HIV/AIDS, COVID-19, and other diseases through community sensitization, many youth still face barriers in accessing reliable healthcare services and preventive resources. The ongoing stigma surrounding diseases like HIV/AIDS and limited access to treatment continue to hinder the effectiveness of awareness campaigns. Limited Opportunities for Youth Engagement in Sports and Culture:

Although sports competitions and environmental conservation activities are part of NCIYE’s current offerings, the organization faces challenges in scaling up these programs. The lack of adequate facilities, funding, and structured opportunities for youth to engage in sports and culture means that these initiatives do not reach their full potential for personal and community development. The Young Producers programme at English Heritage could be for you! 

We are looking for young people aged 18-24 to join our Young Producers from June 2025.

Our Young Producers are at the heart of English Heritage’s youth participation work. Their ideas, creativity and interests help steer and shape the programme and support other areas of English Heritage activity too. 

As a Young Producer you will: 

• Have your voice heard and influence change at English Heritage 

• Join our monthly meetings where you can meet other young people and contribute to decision making within English Heritage 

• Have the opportunity to take part in various projects – recent ones have included LGBTQ+ History, Black History, heritage careers and improving visitor experience for young people 

• Meet heritage professionals and make connections 

• Gain experience that is useful in a variety of sectors and workplaces, from research skills and public speaking to written communication and content creation

We want to ensure our work is relevant to all young people. To do this, we are committed to finding Young Producers from underrepresented groups to ensure a wide range of voices are heard. 

We are therefore particularly interested to hear from young people who: 

• Are from a global majority background 

• Identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community 

• Have a disability 

• Are care-experienced 

• Are from low-income backgrounds
