About you and the role
The purpose of this role is to lead on our finance strategy, and ensure all of our systems, reporting and processes are helping to drive forward the charity and deliver on our objectives at scale. You will work closely with the Chief Executive and Directors to ensure that financial planning is effective and supported by accurate data analysis. You will report directly to Trustees as required and ensure that the highest standards of transparency and probity are maintained.
You will be joining the team during a period of growth in the size and complexity of our delivery. We currently have 20 employees and anticipate doubling in size within three years. You will have a crucial role in shaping our systems and processes to ensure we can scale effectively, both our existing programmes and a new membership-based programme that is in development. We’re looking for an experienced finance professional with an interest in effectively using technology and systems to drive efficiency, without compromising on accuracy or compliance.
You will support and mentor the Finance and Office Manager, ensuring that financial administration is carried out proficiently and in line with all legal and regulatory requirements, including ultimate responsibility for ensuring that all statutory filings are made accurately and on time. Your role will also encompass ensuring that we operate within legal & regulatory frameworks and stay up to date with changes in relevant legislation.

Key responsibilities:
- Developing a comprehensive financial strategy that supports the delivery of the charity’s objectives and activities
- Reviewing suitability of our current systems: Quickbooks for accountancy, Beacon CRM, PLEO for expenses management, Survey Monkey for data collection etc.
- Where necessary, identifying and implementing new software to ensure all systems and processes are robust, user friendly, deliver useful data analysis, integrate and/or improve automation
- Working closely with the Director of Transformations to translate the annual activity plan into an accurate organisational-level budget
- Advising the Chief Executive, team and Trustees, ensuring that benefits and risks of decisions are fully considered and fit with the overall financial strategy
- Oversee sound financial management and governance across the organisation
- Provide leadership and guidance to all things finance related, providing mentoring and support to the team
- Accountability for monitoring that the organisation’s services are, and will, run to budget, supporting budget holders and reporting promptly on risks
- Have ultimate oversight of the external audit and production of the statutory accounts, supported in delivery of this by the Finance & Office Manager
- Oversee production of management accounts and bespoke financial reports, including accurate forecasting, incisive analysis and accessible narrative commentary
- Support the Development team with financial submissions and other compliance areas (eg advising on and supporting with due diligence processes)
- Constantly seeking to develop and improve the organisation’s financial systems, policies and procedures to promote dynamic, best practice and up-to-date application of tools, systems and approaches
- Oversight of finance, governance and basic HR administration, supporting the Finance & Office Manager with high profile or complex queries, seeking specialist advice on financial or compliance matters as required
- Ensure the organisation’s compliance with charity law, in accordance with the Charity Commission in England & Wales
Skills & experience:
- You have interest and belief in our mission, to improve kids’ health through improving food and food education in schools
- You have full or partial qualification through an accredited accountancy body
- You have some experience in a senior finance role (eg Director, Head of, Management Accountant) in any sector, and some experience within a finance function in the 3rd sector (in particular familiarity with the Charity SORP and experience of administering restricted funds)
- You have experience of audit
- You enjoy a mix of leadership and rolling up sleeves to get hands on when the need arises
- You take a pragmatic and dynamic approach to robust financial management
- You can turn complex and dry data, into clear and engaging narrative
- You have project managed the implementation of new systems (accountancy / CRM / data)
- You are organised, methodical, strong on detail, and able to map out deadlines and plan ahead
- You are skilled in building rapport with people and strike a balance between being supportive and challenging

The Role
As our Head of Finance, you will actively lead on the management of all aspects of the finance function to include;
· The production of interim and annual financial statements that comply with the requirements of the Charities SORP (FRS 102).
· Preparing all information and supporting documentation for the annual audit, and liaising with the National Audit Office, and the NFC’s external auditors.
· Supporting the internal audit process.
· Fulfilling the accounting and reporting requirements to Defra.
· Working closely with the Director of Corporate Services and Senior Leadership Team to develop strategic financial initiatives that support financial forecasting, goal setting and financial planning.
You will directly line manage the Finance Manager, ensuring the smooth operations of the finance function.
Your role will also involve:
· Preparing the annual budget
· Overseeing and signing off monthly payroll
· Contributing to the development and management of financial systems and procedures
About You
To be considered as our Head of Finance, you will need:
· To be a qualified accountant with at least five years’ relevant experience
· Senior experience in the charity sector, including producing charity SORP compliant group accounts and monthly management accounts.
· Experience of the financial management of complex restricted funded projects
· Knowledge of charity trading and gift aid arrangements
· Good written and oral communication skills

About the Role:
As an experienced WASH professional and systems thinker, you will provide strategic leadership to the WASH Systems and Programme Partnerships team, aiming to maximise the value that the individuals and the wider Programme Support and Knowledge team brings in contributing to effective approaches to WASH systems strengthening and effective programme partnerships for collective action, as part of WaterAid's strategy.
The WASH Systems and Programme Partnerships Senior Manager is a senior leadership role within the Programme Support and Knowledge (PSK) team that sits within the International Programmes Department of WaterAid (UK). You will be a member of the PSK senior leadership team.
In this role, you will provide the vision and the steer to the team in providing high quality and impactful WASH systems advisory support, guide the development and refreshment of the organisational framing, guidance and standards materials. The role will also provide leadership in steering and convening the organisational best practice in developing and shaping strategically focused programme partnerships and alliances for effective collective action. This includes guiding our work on the relative roles of the public and private sector in WASH, particularly evolving our work on Sanitation and Water Operator Partnerships (SWOPs).
You'll:
- Strategically lead WASH systems and partnerships support for WaterAid programming
- Lead programme learning and knowledge management in WASH systems and programme partnerships
- Support fundraising, external engagement, partnerships and communications with respect to WASH systems and programme partnerships
- Lead the team to be dynamic, collaborative and influential in their work
About You:
- Extensive and broad experience in WASH development in developing countries, demonstrated through a solid career record, with specific knowledge and skills in strengthening WASH systems and effective programme partnerships, across multiple contexts.
- A systems thinker and systems expert, capable of developing and delivering transformational WASH programmes with large scale outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience of developing impactful programme partnerships and solid understanding of collective action in practice.
- Substantial experience public / private sector approaches and models for effective and sustainable WASH services.
- Proven skills in leading strategic, effective and impactful initiatives in larger organisations, from a similar level senior level.
Although not essential, we also prefer you to have:
- Working knowledge of one or more of WaterAid's working languages (French, Portuguese and Spanish).
- Experience of leading or managing applied research.
- Experience and understanding of establishing and promoting technical standards.

- You will be the Finance Transformation Lead during the development of and transition to Microsoft Dynamics Finance and Operations from the current system. The project is due for delivery in mid-2025 and you will work closely with the third-party implementation team and the project team responsible for delivering the statement of work.

I am excited to be working with an amazing London based disability charity in search of a Project Accountant on a 6-month FTC. You will be responsible for assisting the Financial Controller with the management and administration of the organisation’s finances.
You will manage a number of business-related and operational systems, processes, procedures and required controls across the organisations group of charities in the delivery of the charity’s services. The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the ENN team as our Management Accountant - Grants. The role provides the opportunity to work across the spectrum of ENN’s projects, as part of the operations team. You will be based in our headquarters in Oxfordshire and will work closely with ENN’s Finance Manager and Projects Team.
About You
Bringing your experience of third sector accounting to ENN, you will be able to communicate well with both finance and non-finance stakeholders. You will be comfortable supporting complex projects, tailoring financial management information and reports to enable decision making and assuring donor compliance and reporting requirements are met consistently.

Key responsibilities
Grant compliance and reporting
- Financial compliance of grant spend in line with donor agreements ensuring no disallowable costs and that all allowable costs are reflected in the accounts correctly.
- Provide back up for grant financial reporting in the format required by donors for the projects team to review, collate and submit with the full donor reporting pack.
- Raise sales invoice to the donor with all back up attached and provide acknowledgement of funds letters upon receipt of cash in the bank.
- Work closely with the Finance Assistant and Projects team to ensure invoices are correctly coded to the right donor and project and complete month end reconciliations
- Input budget and quarterly reforecasts into the finance system (iplicit) and track grant performance against budgets on a regular basis providing variance analysis.
- Review and assimilate grant financial information for the Finance Manager and/or Project team as required which ultimately will be used as input in management reporting for various stakeholders (Technical budget holders, Management Team and Trustees).
- Support the organisation’s income generation ambitions, through the provision of advice, guidance and assistance, and in assisting with funding bids and budgeting and undertaking new funder/partner financial viability assessments as required.
- Maintain and update donor restricted fund balances/movements for year-end statutory reporting.
- Maintain project financial files and records for statutory audit and donor audit purposes.
Management accounting
- Prepare monthly income deferrals and income accruals and maintain month end trial balance reconciliations for management accounts.
- Capture any committed project costs to accrue.
- Apportion any interest earned from grant cash in the bank in line with donor contract terms.
- Work collaboratively with the Finance Manager on cash flow forecasting with regards to expected donor payments.
- As required by finance or the projects team, and working with iplicit, write reports in the finance system that would provide insightful and useful management information. For example, for grant monitoring and evaluation, trend analysis and assessing KPI’s etc
- Support the Finance Manager in capacity building and providing financial training to finance and non-finance staff.
- Provide ad hoc support to the Finance Manager with regards to specific financial projects, as required.
- Bank signatory for creditor payments in line with ENN’s Delegation of Authority Policy.
