As one of our Lead Bid Writers, you will work on the end-to-end bidding process, from identifying tender opportunities and submitting engaging and successful bids through to managing post-award activity. You will develop compelling, high-quality tender responses, ensuring that our submissions stand out.

You will have knowledge and experience in tender planning, writing winning bids, and diligently working to continuously improve the quality of submissions. If your experience is in social care, that’s great but not essential.

You will also need excellent writing and comprehension skills, the ability to work to demanding deadlines, and attention to detail while managing conflicting priorities.

This role is full-time and will work flexibly from our office in Thame or Leicester. You will need to be happy working on your own, but as working with others is an important part of the role, we are looking for someone who also enjoys working as part of a team.

Overview / purpose of the role

We’re looking for a Finance & Operations Officer who is interested in developing a career in bookkeeping and/or accountancy within the nonprofit sector. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with 1–2 years of experience in a finance or operations role who is looking to build on that foundation and grow their skills in a mission-driven organisation.

You don’t need to have specific qualifications in finance or accounting - what matters most is a strong interest in charity finance, excellent attention to detail, and motivation to grow professionally. You may have worked in a junior finance, administrative, or operations role, and are now ready to take on broader responsibilities and deepen your expertise.

The Finance & Operations Officer is a central resource within CGP, working with colleagues in the Operations Team, and across the organisation to provide financial and operational support to all areas of our work. They will work closely with the Head of Operations & Evaluation to process invoices, expenses and conduct weekly payment runs, ensuring that all financial policies and procedures are carefully adhered to. They will also support colleagues to follow our financial policies and processes and act as the first point of contact for any questions on these procedures. Additionally, they will provide general administrative and operational support to colleagues as outlined in the below job description.

Responsibilities

Finance

• Managing our accounts payable inbox, monitoring all incoming invoices and following up with team members on any missing information if required

• Processing and coding invoices  in Xero accounting software ahead of weekly payment runs

• Checking that correct coding and approval procedures are followed for staff expenses

• Conducting weekly payment runs via our online banking system

• Coordinating our monthly payroll processes (working with external providers)

• Working with the Head of Operations & Evaluation and Director of Finance to support the development of funding proposals

• Working with the Head of Operations & Evaluation and Director of Finance to support financial reporting on grants for external donors

• Supporting the Head of Operations & Evaluation and Director of Finance with general financial administration, record keeping and tracking budgets

• Provide training on expense and invoicing processes to new members of staff and generally acting as the first point of contact for all staff on any finance procedure questions (full training will be provided)

• Supporting the Senior Management Team (SMT) and our Director of Finance to develop the annual organisational budget and report against it quarterly

• Providing budgeting support as required for colleagues internally 

Office Management & General Operational Support

• Acting as the key point of contact between CGP & our coworking office space (organising memberships, meeting room bookings, invoices, printing credits, equipment, internal events etc.)

• Organising post, stationery supplies and managing stocks of office equipment

• Maintain/organise our filing and cloud storage systems logically and efficiently, in a data protection compliant manner.

• Ad hoc IT support as required, including online troubleshooting and logging support requests with service providers when necessary.

• General administrative support to the CEO and Head of Operations & Evaluation

Human Resources

• Support with recruitment processes within CGP, including assisting members of the team to schedule and coordinate job interviews, contact candidates and file incoming applications. 

• Working with the Head of Operations & Evaluation to organise internal events like team away days and staff team building activities.

Person specification

The right candidate will bring some prior experience in a relevant role, alongside enthusiasm for nonprofit finance and operations. They will have an aptitude for maths and finance,  excellent attention to detail and a meticulous, methodical approach to work and troubleshooting.

• Has 1–2 years of experience in a finance, bookkeeping, administrative, or operations role

• Is interested in building a career in nonprofit finance and is open to pursuing further financial training

• Is broadly supportive of UK Aid 

• Is an independent worker, self-starter who can take responsibility for projects through to completion

• Has excellent IT skills, proficient with MS Office programmes (particularly Excel) and Google Workspace, and the ability to learn to use new software as required (for example, Xero, Soldo and Salesforce)

This is a key role within Learning and Work Institute, with responsibility for delivering high quality research, analysis and evaluation across learning, skills and employment.

Day to day duties:

• Design and deliver high quality research, analysis and evaluation, to time and budget. Researchers will work on a wide range of mixed methods research and evaluation projects across the learning, skills and employment sector.
• Manage small projects and lead on elements of large projects.
• Develop and implement appropriate research methodologies and methods, evaluation strategies and research tools. Projects generally include a mixture of quantitative and qualitative methods, such as semi-structured interviews, focus groups, evidence reviews, surveys, analysis of management information and secondary data analysis.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

General

• Deliver high quality administrative support to the fundraising team including personalised thank you letters and quality stewardship calls that deepen relationships, encourage regular giving, prompt event participation registration and research. 

• Act as the main contact person for the team for incoming queries from inside and outside NBT, including managing team centralised mailboxes and providing additional administrative support to all members of the team as and when required 

• Support the Community Fundraising Manager as required. 

• Support the Charity Director and Head of Fundraising to ensure that a donor centric approach is at the core of all activity and that high standards are developed and maintained throughout the Charity team.

• To provide the Director, Head of Fundraising and all team colleagues with detailed updates through regular team reports. 

• Ensure that all cash handling, banking, donor acknowledgement and receipts are kept in accordance with charity best practice. 

• Demonstrating a positive and proactive approach in supporting the team by planning, arranging relevant materials, setting up meetings and preparing, attending and following up from events. 

• Keep up to date on all new governance regulations issued by the Charity Commission, Fundraising Regulator and Information Commissioner’s Office.

CSAN is the official agency of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference, tackling the root causes of poverty and injustice affecting people in England and Wales. We’re facing a steep rise in poverty and significant pressures on social, economic and church resources. At this time, the Church is called to raise a prophetic voice against poverty and the rhetoric of division and work for the building of a more just society.

In 2021, CSAN launched its strategy to extend the social mission of the Church in a post-COVID society. We are developing the infrastructure of the social action network of the Church in England and Wales, including new alliances for diocesan Caritas agencies, advocacy and migration. As our Senior Officer for Migration, you will help to raise awareness of migration issues from the perspective of Catholic Social Teaching and lead on our Ambassadors Programme against Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery, as well as prepare briefings and campaign responses to Government legislation.

Over the last 20 years, CSAN has established a network of 50 diocesan and direct service charities, with a combined annual expenditure on social mission estimated at £400m, excluding the work of schools and religious congregations. Our members build up local community life in diverse ways, and many of them support individuals in difficulty, including with housing, prison and detention, social isolation, ill-health, violence, disability, employment, care, therapeutic and welfare support.

The key responsibilities of the Senior Migration Officer are:

1. To provide timely information to the CSAN team and the network on UK Government resettlement programmes and legislation on immigration.

2. To support CSAN’s work to improve public policy and practice on immigration, with compelling evidence from our network, and enabling effective participation in advocacy for a humane system.

3. To work closely with the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales on issues of migration and human trafficking.

4. To lead the implementation of the Gubay-

funded CSAN Ambassadors against Human Trafficking programme, preparing and delivering programme materials.

You will lead on the development of a small team of young people in paid peer research and social action roles, providing line management, training, mentoring and guidance to develop young people's skills, confidence and cultivate a supportive group dynamic.
 
You will lead on identifying additional children and young people as research and social action participants and support the peer research/social action team to develop and undertake activities prioritising safety, trust and wellbeing – taking a lead role on safeguarding. About you

You’ll have experience of writing successful trust funding applications and will feel confident asking for grants of five figures or more. You enjoy writing clearly and persuasively, and you’re good at building positive relationships with funders over time.

You’re organised and reliable, able to manage a busy workload and keep on top of deadlines. You pay close attention to detail and take pride in producing accurate work, especially when reporting back to funders.
You’re someone who works well with others. You’ll enjoy talking to our teams in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to understand what they need and how funding can help. You’re curious, committed, and care about making a difference to people’s lives.

It’s helpful if you already understand the charity landscape in the nations or the challenges unpaid carers face, but it’s not essential. Most important is that you bring a positive, thoughtful approach and are ready to learn.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (full-time), core hours of 10am–6pm (30-37.5 hours per week negociable)

Salary: £50,000 to £55,000 per annum - Depending on experience

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of older adults? As the Out & About 50+ Project officer, your main focus will be to provide hands-on support to help older clients regain their confidence and independence. You'll work with individuals who would benefit from a short-term, 5-week program designed to encourage them to venture out into the community, participate in activities, and expand their social networks.

In this role, you'll be the driving force behind promoting our new service. You'll identify older people who could use a helping hand, understand their goals and dreams, and uncover any obstacles they face. Your mission will be to provide personalized, short-term support to help them achieve these goals and rediscover the joy of being active and engaged in their community.

Duties

Service Provision

• Promote the new service across the Vale of Glamorgan.
• Identify older people who would benefit from the service and establish their goals and aspirations.
• Explore barriers to achieving these goals and provide short-term support (5 weeks max) to help clients overcome these barriers.
• Take clients out for community outings, shopping trips, social groups, and short walks to encourage confidence.
• Support clients to attend recreational activities to strengthen independence and social interactions.
• Offer information and materials on confidence building.
• Assist with transport support, encouraging the use of personal and public transport.
• Ensure that clients are capable of going out on their own after the 5-week program. If additional support is needed, facilitate a pathway for individuals to transition into Age Connects volunteer-supported services for continued assistance

Monitoring and Administration

• Maintain accurate records of all clients’ progress and related work undertaken.
• Ensure that all information relating to clients is kept confidential.
• Prepare reports to keep stakeholders informed of the progress of the work.
• Promote and support Age Connects fundraising activities.

This vacancy for a qualified and registered Social Worker.
