About the Role

We are recruiting a Standards Officer to join our small and friendly Standards team.

The role of the Standards function is to monitor newspaper, magazine and digital publishers’ compliance with the Editors’ Code of Practice and to take action to address concerns about editorial standards, including by undertaking investigations into serious standards failures as necessary. It’s a busy team that coordinates closely with others at IPSO and outside the organisation, engaging with members of the public, journalists, and experts on a wide variety of subjects. Some recent issues that the standards team has worked on are reporting of sexual offences, suicide, major incidents, and domestic abuse.

As the Standards Officer, you will carry out a range of tasks, including analysing information drawn from complaints received by IPSO, supporting the annual statements process and engaging with a range of representative groups who have concerns about press reporting. You will work closely with the Head of Standards and other colleagues across IPSO.

About You

This is a role for someone who is interested in news and journalism, has excellent communication and analytical skills, and enjoys working with others to achieve a shared purpose. Candidates who demonstrate relevant experience will be given an opportunity to demonstrate their skills through a written exercise prior to short-listing for interview. This means that we can measure candidates’ relevant skills directly and make a fairer decision on which applications to take forward.

There is a competitive starting salary of £33-£34K (subject to experience). In addition, we offer a comprehensive benefits package. Purpose of the job 

Reporting to the Head of Grants, you will create a positive impact on young people by supporting the distribution of grant funding delivered as part of our evolving offer to the youth sector. Working with the Head of Grants, you will ensure we deliver at a high quality consistently.

Key responsibilities 

• Support the Head of Grants to deliver our evolving grants provision to the youth sector; bringing together our work to ensure a streamlined offer 

• Support the grant making process including communications and outreach; application, selection, awarding, distribution, monitoring and evaluation working with the relevant departments. 

• Develop and maintain processes for creating application forms on the UK Youth Portal, informing applicants of decisions and tracking grant disbursements.

• Manage applications for funding through CRM Dashboards and provide direct technical support to applicants. 

• Work to distribute our grant funding to a diversity of organisations across the UK, ensuring it is delivered to improve impact and engages diverse audiences 

• Lead on delivering grant funding panels 

• Maintain a grants management system in line with GDPR and manage data 

• Support the Head of Grants to ensure we are delivering the highest quality consistently. 

• Working with colleagues to manage data collection and monitoring processes and ensure activities achieve intended outputs and outcomes on time and to budget 

• Establish and build strong relationships with strategic stakeholders, including awarded organisations and manage the distribution of funding to grantees and that they complete required monitoring and reporting 

• Support the Head of Grants to report progress to internal and external stakeholders via meetings, written reports and presentations 

• Support the Head of Grants to raise the profile of UK Youth as credible grants distributor through engagement in funder networks 

• Manage the UK Youth Grants inboxes, responding to all enquiries in a timely fashion 

• Communications and Public Affairs 

• Assist the External Relations Department in the development of marketing and communications materials, including the identification of grantees to spotlight through digital storytelling and sharing content that can be used to promote the impact of our work through social media channels 

• Lead the delivery of events to launch and showcase work where applicable, with support from the External Relations Department. 

• Work with the Collective Action Department to provide opportunities for politicians to engage with the projects

We are looking for a Policy and Influencing Coordinator.

The successful candidate will provide, develop and support strategies that support our policy and national influencing capacity. The role holder will also contribute to the development of influencing strategies that deliver change locally and nationally.

This role is based from RSA House in London for at least three days per week, with hybrid flexibility for the remaining days.

About You

What we look for in a successful Junior Events Producer candidate:

• Proven experience of project managing events and projects which involve the co-ordination of complex logistics, multi-tasking and prioritising workload across a number of concurrent projects.
• Experienced in events booking, website and database administration systems.
• Culturally curious with lively and wide-ranging interests across current affairs, events and ideas, and the research themes and aims of the RSA.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The Associate Director of Local Fundraising is a senior role within the Income, Innovation and Engagement directorate; a highly ambitious and professional team which is working to grow income and strengthen the organisation’s voice across the UK as the leading end of life care charity in the UK. Marie Curie has ambitious financial growth targets and needs to drive net contribution, engagement and awareness if they are to achieve their fundraising ambitions and subsequently their service growth goals.

The primary focus of the role is to maximise the net contribution from local fundraising but also to  drive community awareness and engagement with Marie Curie.  This is a key role for Marie Curie, responsible for managing a team of over 100 people and having responsibility for over £20 million Income, the recruitment of legacy prospects, the delivery of fundraising events and the strategic approach of supporter facing volunteers.

The Fundraising teams based in communities across the UK are responsible for raising money, driving legacy sign ups, building event participation and profit and growing awareness and engagement of the need for and impact of the charity’s work amongst supporters and people who have the potential to support Marie Curie.  With all local relationships managed by this role’s teams, the post will ensure that supporters have a connected, seamless experience.

The ideal candidate will have senior leadership experience in a fundraising environment with a successful track record in increasing voluntary income or revenue. They will also have experience in developing both annual operational and three-year strategic plans, developing creative and innovative solutions and digital marketing and in working with working with volunteers and engaging local communities. This will be combined with a proven track record in managing large high-performing, geographically dispersed teams.
