We are looking for a Communications and Engagement Officer with at least two years of relevant experience, who will be able to contribute to our new VCS Capacity Building contract.

Having a good level of experience in producing and designing communications content, excellent copy writing skills with the ability to create clear and compelling content, excellent attention to detail and a strong track record in developing communications which stand out and increase both engagement and awareness.

Someone who enjoys working with the local community and able to use their communication and engagement skills to ensure we are reaching all parts of the VCS community within the Borough of Haringey. Having knowledge of the VCS within Haringey would be an advantage, but not essential.

You’ll have strong digital skills, including Adobe Creative Cloud (or at least InDesign), website CMS, social media and Microsoft O365, with an interest in learning and developing your skills on the job.

The role

MIND in Haringey and its partner Public Voice delivers the Voluntary and Community (VCS) Capacity Building contract commissioned by the London Borough of Haringey. The contract, which runs from May 2024 to April 2027 can be extended for a further four years at the discretion of the Client. The Contract includes the administration and management of the Volunteer Centre and the development and promotion of a Navigation Network (NavNet) knowledge sharing platform, META Workplace.

The Community Collaborative team will be located across different sectors of the Borough employed by either MIND in Haringey or Public Voice who make up the consortium partners. Day-to-day management of the Community Collaborative service is the responsibility of the Haringey Community Collaborative Manager.

We now have an opportunity for a fixed term Performance Marketing Specialist to join us at Battersea. This role is responsible for delivering, optimising and evaluating Battersea’s digital advertising campaigns, specialising in paid social advertising channels such as Meta and TikTok. You will implement and manage large annual media spends to support the achievement of strategic objectives and individual campaign targets.

We are looking for someone with the skills and experience to manage the development of Brand focused digital media plans, from media planning through to implementation and end of campaign reporting. You will be required to deliver against performance targets and establish paid social activity as a key acquisition driver for teams and objectives across the organisation. You will also advise and recommend the best use of the platforms to hit performance targets.

To be successful in this opportunity, you will need excellent creative skills, and strong experience in developing campaign strategies and implementing a busy social media advertising plan, with a proven ability to manage large budgets across multiple ad platforms.

About the role

The Events Officer plays a key role in our highly effective communications team, leading on the delivery of an impactful programme of events – both online and in person. The role works with teams from across the organisation to plan, deliver and promote all types of events, including workshops, roundtables, conferences, webinars, receptions and other types of online and in person events.

Events are an important way for Ageing Better to influence priority audiences, including businesses and local and national government, and the postholder will advise teams on how events can best reach these audiences, encourage engagement and lead to lasting relationships.

This role sits within the Communications team, and the postholder will be responsible for drafting comms content, such as blogs and social media posts, particularly in relation to event promotion.

About you

You are highly organised, with excellent prioritisation and project management skills, enabling you to juggle multiple projects simultaneously. You have good attention to detail and enjoy planning, solving logistical problems and delivering events to a tight budget.

You are a good communicator and are comfortable working in close partnership with colleagues and dealing with a wide range of people.

We are looking for a motivated, creative, and organised Engagement and Communications Officer to join our team. This role is a unique opportunity for someone with a passion for building a fairer legal system through impactful events, engaging member outreach, and powerful communications. The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre is seeking a Head of Communications to lead our high-performing communications team. The successful candidate will lead strategic, high-impact external communications across the organisation. They will work closely with our global team across 30 countries involved in research and analysis. They will bring talent, enthusiasm, knowledge and experience. This role currently manages a team of five and reports to the Executive Director. The communications team is tasked to ensure strategic and effective media, social media, and delivery of our digital platform to drive change.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic communications: Lead the strategic evolution of our global communications as a critical component of our strategies to make change happen. Drive impact by building strategic media and digital outreach that amplifies the work of ourselves and allies, and influences key audiences. Work across our global team to develop a shared understanding of grand strategy, key audiences, the fast-changing context, and how communications can drive positive change. With the management team, set the organisation’s communications strategy and ensure we have the right skills, knowledge, and connections to deliver it. Collaborate with regional and thematic leads to ensure our communications strategies help deliver the human rights impact our programmes seek with allies.
• Lead the communications team: Support a strong team, nurturing their skills to inspire effective and high-impact communications, with an emphasis on digital first. Ensure the work of the team is expertly planned and executed within budget and meets donor requirements. Deliver our performance management system throughout the year to ensure support, well-being, and accountability. Work with the Senior Management Team to manage strategic and operational opportunities and risks.
• Drive and execute innovative, advocacy-oriented communications: Work with senior management, regional and thematic teams to drive a dynamic approach to communications, alongside spotting proactive and reactive opportunities, building higher-level relationships with journalists and partners, and developing tactical approaches. Play an active role in executing impactful, advocacy-oriented communications strategies for key products and events.
• Digital action platform and technology: Work with the Web Content and Digital Officer to manage the development of the Resource Centre’s leading multi-functional digital platform, and our substantial data as compelling evidence. Develop an understanding of the organisation’s target audiences and ensure we deliver features that effectively support them to effectively organise and present their research data and promote human rights in business.
• Programme design and fundraising: Work with our development (fundraising) team and programme leads to ensure communications, and digital technology work is built into project design and budget, and that funders’ information needs are well-served.

Key competencies and attributes

Strategic communication: At least 5 years’ experience delivering top class communications and expert understanding of how strategic communications deliver change. Demonstrable experience in strategy design and execution. Sharp news sense and editorial judgement; strong grasp of the power of social media to make change happen; and a global perspective to communications.

People manager: At least 3 years’ experience in line management. Experience in nurturing and sustaining a high performing team that thrives in a diverse, and global context. Demonstrable success in supporting project teams to deploy communications strategically for impact.

Project manager: Track record of leading and/or implementing complex communications projects including planning, execution, and evaluation. Demonstratable success planning communications for a busy organisation working closely with allies.

Digital technology & data: Experience of design and delivery of website, digital tools, and data to make change happen. Experience of working with developers to manage and maintain a website.

Human rights, and economic justice expertise: Familiarity with social justice or human rights issues and a willingness to keep up to date. Experience communicating economic justice and human rights issues desirable.

Team player: Experience of, and commitment to, working in high-performing teams that are highly collaborative and focused on outcomes. Experience of working with colleagues remotely, and in multicultural and diverse working environments desirable.

Networking: Track record of developing strategic relationships to enhance communications and advocacy efforts, e.g. civil society partners, consultants, journalists, opinion-formers. Experience building relationships of trust and joint action with allied organisations is strongly desirable.

Languages: Must be fluent in English. Additionally, French, German, Chinese, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, or Russian language skills would also be an asset (all languages of our digital action platform).

Events Manager

The Events Manager is a crucial role at the College, as you will be responsible for the planning and delivery of the College’s annual flagship conference. As Events Manager, you will work closely with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers to ensure this event is executed to an exemplary standard.

You will manage the Conference Committee and work closely with College Officers, Members and internal colleagues including the Creative Content and Marketing, Children and Young People and Corporate Services Teams to deliver our high-profile conference. Helping to ensure impactful campaigns are created to drive delegate registration and engagement, you will also be responsible for producing detailed project plans and RASCIs for the conference.

Reporting to the Head of Events, you will provide support with the tracking of event expenditure, managing supplier procurement processes and negotiating with suppliers to guarantee value for money. Taking the lead on all College relationships with internal and external service providers, you’ll also ensure that site visits and assessments are carried out where necessary, making certain that insurance, legal and Health & Safety obligations are adhered to.

In addition to the flagship conference, you will support the wider team in the delivery of other high profile engagement activities including international conferences, membership ceremonies, regional member events, dinners and a number of ad-hoc events according to College priorities. You will also deliver virtual events as required, taking the lead on researching virtual event solutions to ensure that the College meets shifting member needs.

Educated to a good standard, with demonstratable experience of delivering large scale (1,000+) educational or scientific conferences, you should have a background of working with external professional conference organisers along with experience of working in a membership or not-for-profit organisation.

Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills with colleagues, internal and external stakeholders and suppliers are essential, as are outstanding communication skills, both oral and written.

With a good understanding of project management methodology and how to apply it to events, you should have a sound knowledge and insight into the wider event industry, in order to keep up-to-date with trends, developments, innovation and legislation. Solution centric to enable innovation, you must be able to adapt to changing situations.

Line management experience and the ability to motivate and develop direct reports is essential, whilst an event management or project management qualification, along with experience of running events outside of the UK would be desirable.

The Membership, Policy and External Affairs Division actively promotes the membership, stakeholders and the public awareness of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) and core child health priorities. 

The RCPCH sets and maintains standards for the education and training of all doctors working in paediatrics and child health in the UK. We advocate on child health issues at home and internationally. Additionally, through a variety of activities, the College influences the quality of medical practice for children in hospital and in the community.

The RCPCH has more than 22,000 members and fellows and employs around 200 staff, most of whom work in our London office in Holborn. We have smaller offices in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The RCPCH wants to represent all the communities we serve. Appointment will be made solely on merit. You will promote our guidelines, research and reports to support their use around the world to deliver high quality, safe and compassionate care for women.

Leading our busy press office, you will have opportunities to shape the media agenda on critical women’s health issues and champion the voices of women and girls through creative story-telling. Your social media expertise will ensure we are effectively listening to and engaging our members, partners and the public.

You will enjoy building and managing relationships with stakeholders to deliver opportunities for partnership working – including national health organisations, other Royal Colleges and women’s health charities. You will have excellent strategic judgement and be confident to advise senior College stakeholders on high profile and sensitive issues.

Reporting to the Director of Communications, you will line manage our Senior Media and Communications Officer and work closely with colleagues in our policy, public affairs and marketing teams to help ensure the College’s external affairs work is integrated, coherent and impactful.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of our annual media and communications plan, including priority campaigns in partnership with marketing, policy and public affairs colleagues
• Oversee our busy press office, ensuring we maintain strong media relations and are achieving high impact coverage on College priorities
• Deliver proactive external communications to promote awareness and impact of RCOG programmes, projects and products
• Ensure we are effectively using our social media and digital channels to listen, engage and influence, including production of videos, podcasts and webinars, etc.
• Build strong relationships with partners and stakeholders to gather intelligence and identify partnership opportunities
• Lead on ensuring the RCOG maintains effective communications and media processes, including forward planning tools, media logs, activity summaries, and evaluation reports.

About you

This position is well-suited to an experienced communications professional who is passionate about women’s health, and the role that creative communications and campaigns can play to advocate, inform, and influence.

Requirements:

• Experience leading the development and delivery of integrated communications campaigns Excellent news sense and experience leading a busy press office covering high profile issues
• Ability to lead on and manage sensitive/ emotive/ ethical issues in a sensitive manner
• Creative and technically excellent writing skills
• In-depth experience to use digital channels to listen, engage and share information
• Confident in building partnerships and being a trusted advisor to senior colleagues
• Ability to work independently to meet deadlines, with a proactive and efficient working style

We are searching for a new strategic leader at Bloody Good Period. The Head of Communications and Campaigns will play a pivotal and strategic role in delivering creative and effective campaigns and comms that align with our wider influencing work, maximising opportunities to influence change as we approach a General Election, and beyond. 

Bloody Good Period’s brand and communications have had huge traction and influence in the last few years. Our mission of menstrual equity resonates strongly with a range of stakeholders including individual supporters, corporates, parliamentarians and celebrities, and we have developed a strong brand which is frequently sought after for high-profile partnerships.

We are also dialling up the activist movement quality of our work, building on strong foundations in terms of our brand, reputation and relationships. We think menstrual equity is a bedrock of renewing and improving the way the UK works, and the way we campaign for that and communicate our thoughts and demands will always be fundamental to our success in achieving our mission.

The Head of Communications and Campaigns will be working across the organisation, and crucially alongside our Experts by Experience forum, strengthening our communication strategy whilst developing and implementing an ambitious campaign strategy to engage and mobilise both existing and new supporters.
