As Financial Controller, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day financial management and reporting across the organisation.

We are working in partnership with Emmaus Village Carlton (EVC), a flagship Emmaus community, who give hope and a sense of belonging to those who have experienced homelessness or social exclusion by creating a safe and supported community and opportunities to develop. They are a respected local charity and social enterprise with a unique self-funded model, and capacity for up to 45 Companions to live and gain work experience on site, who are supported by the staff team and volunteers.

They are now seeking a new Head of Finance, who will be a pro-active member of the Senior Leadership Team and actively contribute to the smooth running and ongoing development of the organisation. The Head of Finance will provide effective leadership of the financial management of EVC, across both the social enterprise and charitable objectives, as well as overseeing administrative and IT support, working closely with the IT support provider and the Administration Assistant to achieve good operational performance.

About Finance at Hope into Action 

The Finance function of Hope Into Action is small team comprising the Finance Lead, the Finance Administrator and a volunteer reporting to the Head of Operations. It is largely paperless and supports our 42 staff with accounts payable and receivable functions. It works in conjunction with the other departments to deliver timely, accurate and strategic financial information for both the Executive Team and the Board of Trustees. 

About the role 

The Finance Lead is a key role in enabling Hope into Action fulfil its vision of every church lovingly making a home for those experiencing homelessness.

The role is broad ranging from monitoring the Finance inbox to posting transactions on our Xero accounting system and producing the monthly management accounts within our target of 10 working days from the month end 

In addition, you will support the year end work by producing the schedules required by auditors, take a lead in the annual budgeting process, produce the biannual investor statements and compile the gift aid returns. 

You will be expected to meet regularly with budget holders to help them achieve their targets and/or devise a plan to bring them back on track.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Finance Manager, who  will be responsible for the financial management and reporting of the organisation. Able to manage the day-to-day financial analysis and reporting requirements for Money Ready, and provide input for strategic financial planning. Using a business partnering model, ensure all budget holders are fully supported in their roles. Responsible for the delivery of all management accounts, budget, forecasts and donor reporting as well as the annual statutory accounts. Key Responsibilities

• Ensures the timely and accurate production of all management and annual accounts and all forecasts in accordance with best practise and statutory requirements.
• A key business partner who provides value added business support and financial insight to the SMT and colleagues throughout the Charity.
• Provides financial insight to development team to assist with fundraising bids, prepare donor budgets, and ensure donor reporting and compliance throughout the grant life cycle.
• Responsible for delivery of all statutory and regulatory compliance, including statutory accounts, certification officer returns, Charities Commission, VAT and all payroll taxes.
• Responsible for fortnightly payment runs processing. Supervise and assist with the sale invoices processing and regular credit control. Monthly reconciliation of all Money Ready’s bank accounts.
• Responsible for monthly payroll including monthly and annual RTI reporting to HMRC, pensions payments, annual payroll processing and relevant reconciliations.
• Work with auditors on preparing the audit strategy and manage annual audit process, providing all the relevant paperwork during the audit process.
• Be a positive change champion for the organisation, identifying key impact areas and priorities and supporting change programmes and strategies in both finance and across the Union as a whole.
• Prepare quarterly VAT returns with reconciliations and reporting. Line management, objective setting and performance reviews for direct report.
• Establish and maintain a robust internal controls environment that is fit for purpose but uses a risk-based approach to the establishment of processes and procedures.

Personal Specification

• You will need to show;
• Experience Substantial experience in a finance or accounting role (including at management level) in a not-for profit organisation.
• Substantial experience in the preparation of monthly management accounts and year end accounts.
• Substantial experience in processing monthly payroll using QuickBooks Payroll and Sage Payroll.

About the Role
We’re looking for a motivated and detail-driven Finance Manager to join ESSA’s international team and lead our UK financial operations. This vital role will support both UK and global finance functions, ensuring high-quality financial reporting, audit preparation, budgeting and compliance.

Key responsibilities include:

· Preparing monthly management accounts and variance analysis

· Leading year-end and audit processes for ESSA’s UK operations

• Lead, manage and improve the Trust’s finance function and provide accurate, timely and relevant financial reports as required by the CEO

Requirements

• Qualified, experienced finance leader with a minimum of 10 years of experience, willing to be hands on running all aspects of the finance function and able to offer strategic advisory insight and support to the senior leadership team.
• Strong technical skills, covering financial accounting & compliance; budgeting, financial planning and forecasting; and financial reporting, including IFRS and donor reporting standards.
• Experience leading the finance function of an INGO with several national offices with different capacity, and some working in challenging environments.
• Full grants cycle management – from budget proposal development, due diligence & sub-granting, grants compliance & reporting. Experience of working with institutional donors is strongly desirable.
• Excellent communication skills – written and verbal – and able to build effective relationships and succinctly communicate key themes and analysis to finance and non-finance staff, and external stakeholders effectively.
• Demonstrable experience of managing a mature and diverse finance team.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage tight deadlines while ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and spoken English; proficiency in additional languages—especially German, French, or Spanish—is an asset
• High level of cultural sensitivity, political awareness, and diplomacy in diverse, international settings.

Whilst the organisation offers hybrid working, for this position, it is informally expected that the candidate will be in the office 3-4 days a week. The organisation is open to sponsoring candidates who do not have the right to work in Germany, and will offer a relocation allowance. 

JOB PURPOSE

The main purpose of this post is to provide comprehensive financial management for Bradford Hospitals Charity, ensuring accurate reporting, robust financial controls, and effective management of the Charity's financial position.

The Finance Manager will play a critical role in supporting the charity through its exciting transition to independence, establishing appropriate financial systems, controls, and procedures to ensure the charity can operate effectively as an independent organisation. This will include developing new financial governance structures and helping to shape the charity's financial strategy for the future.

The Finance Manager will lead on all aspects of the Charity's financial management, providing accurate and timely financial information to support decision-making by the Charity Director and Trustees. They will be responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant professional standards, Charity Commission requirements, and NHS guidelines.

The postholder will maintain a close working relationship with the Trust finance team to benefit from their expertise while ensuring the Charity's specific financial management needs are met during and after the transition to independence. The Finance Manager will be supported by the Deputy Director of Finance and the Chief Financial Officer, who will provide guidance on compliance with Charity Commission requirements, financial governance, and wider strategic financial management to ensure the role is well-connected within the broader financial structure.

Working collaboratively with fundraising and operational colleagues, the Finance Manager will help maximise the use of charitable funds to benefit patients and the Trust.

JOB DIMENSIONS

The post will have responsibility for the Charity's financial systems, including managing and monitoring all charitable income and expenditure, financial forecasting, producing monthly Financial and management accounts, annual accounts, and maintaining effective control systems.

A key aspect of this role is managing the Charity's portfolio of trust funds, which consists of various restricted, designated and unrestricted funds. The Finance Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all donations are correctly allocated to the appropriate funds, that expenditure from these funds complies with donors' wishes and charity law, and that fund balances are accurately tracked and reported.

The postholder will carry out their duties in line with departmental accounting policies, and with reference to Trust Standard Financial Instructions (SFIs) & Standing Orders (SOs), as well as charity-specific financial regulations and requirements.

The Finance Manager will provide expert financial advice to fund advisors, Charity staff, and the Charity Director, taking initiative to achieve agreed results and working independently on a day-to-day basis within clearly defined policies, protocols, procedures, and codes of conduct. While having significant autonomy in managing the charity's finances, the postholder will not work in isolation but as part of a supportive network that includes senior finance leadership within the Trust.

This Senior Finance Officer role is available on a permanent contract and full-time basis. The salary banding for this role is between £35,000-£38,500, dependent on level of experience. This is also a hybrid role where they would like the postholder to attend the Leicestershire office 3 days a week.
 
The charity are looking for a self-motivated and communicative finance professional to support with ensuring smooth running of financial operations and support with decision making. You will also ensure to maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with relevant charity, financial, and tax regulations.
 
You will prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports for senior management and trustees. You will monitor budgets and forecasts, process invoices, expenditure, and bank reconciliations. You will manage and maintain the Trust’s finance system (Sage). You will look to continuously evolve financial processes and procedures. You will also support with the administration of restricted funds, grants, and project budgets, including reporting to funders.
 
To be successful in this role, you will be AAT qualified or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA, or equivalent finance qualification. You will have experience in a similar finance role, ideally in the charity or non-profit sector. You will have a strong working knowledge of accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero, or similar packages). You will also have demonstrable experience using Microsoft Excel and excellent attention to detail.
 
You will have an understanding of charity finance, in particular restricted and unrestricted funding. You will be a strong communicator, who can work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and present financial information in a clear manner.
 
Desirably, you will have experience supporting financial reporting for externally funded projects (e.g. National Lottery Heritage Fund). You will also have knowledge of SORP and charity accounting standards.

The Finance Officer together with the Treasurer and local finance coordinators will undertake tasks including:-

• Develop systems and enable finance tasks to be completed more effectively and efficient

• Place orders, make payments and produce invoices and run payroll. 

The Finance Officer will join our Support Services staff team in a pivotal role working with finance volunteers and overseeing day-to-day management of parish accounts and payroll.

• 22.5hrs per week (we are willing to consider beteen 18-25 hours per week, some home working and flexible hours).
