GDWG has an exciting full-time opportunity to join our team working within the casework team, with responsibility for leading our IRC welfare surgeries, volunteer training programme and educational outreach work.
We require blended working from home and from our office in Crawley with Thursday in the office and one other day a week to be agreed. This is a one-year fixed term contract. The role requires an all-rounder who is comfortable giving calm support to people in crisis, can demonstrate a high level of organisational skills in a fast-paced work environment and a passion for educating the public on the issue of immigration detention.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Managing a caseload of clients in detention
- Coordinating Detention Centre drop-ins
- Supporting on research projects
- Leading on educational outreach
- Leading on training IRC-related staff
- Supporting Advocacy and Support Volunteers
- Coordinating volunteer training
- Volunteer coordination
Skills and experience required:
Essential
- Attention to detail
- Empathy with GDWG’s values and mission and with the issues facing refugees, people seeking asylum, and those in or with experience of detention
- Ability and willingness to learn and develop in the role

- Lived experience of detention/the asylum system or experience of work with refugees, migrants, criminal justice, or human rights
- Experience of work/volunteering in the voluntary sector
- Good understanding of mental health and complex needs
- Experience of safeguarding people with vulnerabilities

Beacon is looking for a friendly and enthusiastic youth engagement worker to work as part of a small team to deliver our SHINE offer to young people. SHINE offers early intervention support to all 11-17 year old’s in Stockport to provide information, advice or guidance regarding their emotional wellbeing. It includes: 2 weekly wellbeing groups, a weekly arts group (delivered by Beacon’s partner), signposting and advice. SHINE develops skills to support emotional wellbeing, build resilience and confidence with weekly themes over 12 weeks.
You will be the main point of contact for young people and their families, providing information, advice, guidance and support to access services. You will work with colleagues and the young people to devise and cofacilitate group sessions which are fun, engaging and support young people to develop skills and improve wellbeing. You will liaise with our partner delivery organisation, and support the future development of the service. You will responsible for completing all administrative duties in relation to the service, including the collection of monitoring and feedback data.
The role is for 17.5 hours per week. The hours are to be agreed, but must include Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4pm to 7pm. The salary for this role is £26,481 per annum pro rata.

Are you passionate about pastoring and impacting the spiritual lives of children and young people? We’d love you to join our community at Springfield Church and lead our children and youth ministries in Wallington (a suburb of London with easy access to the City Centre).
The Role:
You’ll be developing innovative discipleship spaces that connect with our young peoples’ unique experiences, shaping our monthly ‘All in’ services, and supporting Springers midweek Toddler group. You would develop these and other spaces, such as a Sunday afternoon Bubble Church, and build upon our relationships with local schools where we run Messy Church and have mentors supporting children.

You will have ongoing support in the role from an experienced and committed staff team, led by Pioneer Vicar David Atkinson, alongside Pioneer Curate, Mel Wynn including strong operational support alongside other volunteer team members. You will receive children and youth-specific training through the Southwark Diocese Aurora course.
Who we’re looking for:
We are looking for a passionate and strategic-thinking candidate - someone who loves pastoring young people and can train and release our growing team of volunteers (rather than doing everything yourself). You will understand and relate to the pressures and sense of community that come from living in different areas, such as the Roundshaw Estate and wider Wallington, and you would be able to demonstrate that you have been successful in pastoring children and youth in the community. You would share our values to grow in courage, compassion and creativity as we seek to build a culture of belonging around Jesus. Ideally, you would have a qualification in children and youth work, but this is not essential if you have relevant experience.

This is an opportunity to join Refuge as an IGVA supporting women and children who are impacted by different strands of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG). The independent gender violence advocate will work closely with victims of gender-based violence from the point of crisis, to provide high quality independent advocacy and support to survivors of gender-based violence at the highest risk and their children.
The role will be part of increasing the ability of partner agencies to recognise, reject and respond appropriately and safely to all forms of gender-based violence (including domestic violence, sexual, financial and emotional abuse, female genital mutilation, forced marriage and honour-based violence). The job involves working within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership protocols and procedures that prioritise the safety of survivors. The post holder will empower survivors by providing them with emotional, practical and personal welfare support. The job involves ensuring that women are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment, enabling them to access their rights, make decisions and increase their life options
The job involves working within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership protocols and procedures that prioritise the safety of survivors. The job involves informing survivors of the full range of civil, criminal, and practical options that might increase their safety.
