Shannon Trust fulfils an unmet need around adult learning, supporting people who’ve fallen through the cracks in formal education.

We know a lot of people have had negative learning experiences in the past, so our programme is designed to be different, with no exams and no classrooms. Our unique, evidence-based Turning Pages reading manuals are used by thousands of learners in prisons and the community to improve reading skills. 

Area coordinators support and coordinate a team of prison volunteers. They help recruit and induct new volunteers and are the first point of contact for advice and support. Area coordinators lead and inspire the team via quarterly 1 to 1s and area meetings.  They also help oversee the progress of Shannon Trust in prisons in their area and provide cover and support where needed.

We are looking for volunteers who are organised, flexible, able to work independently, and able to give a regular, reliable commitment for ideally two years.  Due to the nature of the role prison security vetting will be required.

Sembeza Africa provides Quality Physical Education (QPE) programs that empower youth and communities in Uganda, integrating sports with education, gender equality, and environmental sustainability.

Project Manager

Kent Community Foundation (KCF) is looking for individuals to join our Board of Trustees who have a real passion for our county and want to make a demonstrable difference to the lives of people in our communities.

KCF is a professional grant-maker and local philanthropy advisor for Kent and Medway. We have been established for 24 years; distributing more than £60 million in grants to voluntary sector organisations across the county; supporting small charities to be sustainable and successful, and helping major donors maximise the impact of their donations.

Trustees are the volunteers who lead charities and decide how they are run; setting strategic plans, monitoring the performance, impact and sustainability of the charity and overseeing its governance. People of any age and background can be a trustee, and we're looking for people with specific experience to help us support communities in Kent. Overview

No Panic is a national charity, supporting people with a variety of anxiety issues, providing self-help advice over our helpline and additional support services.

We are building a team of volunteers to produce and distribute introduction material about No Panic to service users, members, students and volunteers.

We are looking for a volunteer to co-ordinate this team.

Activities

Activities will include reviewing the introduction material; assigning editing tasks to team members;  monitoring progress; reviewing content and overseeing distribution.

Purpose of the Role

This volunteer role is a key part of the HFEH Mind team delivering a range of services across Hammersmith and Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow. We support clients with mental health with both clinical and non-clinical interventions.

The purpose of the current role is to assist with the planning and delivery of our Adult Co-production services. This includes the Adult Co-production Group, The Shakti Project (wellbeing service for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic individuals) and a new Young Adult Co-Production group working with 18–25-year-olds.

Main Responsibilities

This role involves working closely with service managers and the co-production coordinator to discover new organisations and community events to reach out to establish a presence and promote our co-production services, as well as work in partnership with others to improve our services.

This would include admin tasks such as drafting emails to send to our service users and partners, establishing connections with members of the community and service providers, identifying appropriate locations to distribute posters and promote the service, assisting with the creation of digital content promoting the service both digitally and in-person, helping with the planning and delivery of enrichment trips and outings, co-facilitating online groups (where applicable).

Tasks

· Attending online meetings for the Adult Co-Production Group and/or the Shakti Project

· Promoting the service to members of the South Asian and BAME community (Shakti Project) and 18–25-year-olds (Young Adult Co-Production Group)

· Assisting with admin tasks e.g. drafting up emails to send to service users, updating our co-production newsletters, emailing charity partners and public organisations.

· Assisting with in-person events such as Health Fairs, Career/Volunteer days, cultural events

Role purpose

To ensure ThriveSpark operates safely, lawfully, and to a consistently high standard by providing independent oversight of safeguarding, data protection, quality assurance, and organisational risk. The Director of Compliance sets proportionate guardrails that enable delivery, maintains the core compliance framework, and advises the Board with clear, evidence-led judgement.

Key responsibilities

1) Compliance framework & policy governance

• Maintain and periodically review the suite of core policies: Safeguarding, Data Protection (UK GDPR), Health & Safety, Quality Assurance, Complaints, Whistleblowing, and related procedures.

• Establish an annual compliance calendar covering policy review, training refreshers, audits, and filings; monitor adherence and report variances.

• Ensure documents are version-controlled, accessible, and aligned across the CIC and (where relevant) the CIO charity arm.

2) Risk management & assurance

• Own the organisational risk register: define risk owners, review quarterly, and ensure mitigations are tracked to closure.

• Design proportionate internal assurance (spot checks, observations, sample reviews) to test policy effectiveness without impeding delivery.

• Produce concise compliance dashboards and narrative reports for the Board, escalating material issues promptly.

3) Safeguarding oversight

• Ensure safeguarding policy and practice meet statutory and sector standards, with clear reporting/ escalation routes and post-incident learning.

• Confirm coverage and currency of safeguarding training for all relevant staff/associates; monitor DBS status and safer-recruitment controls.

• Chair or contribute to incident reviews (including “near misses”) to identify root causes and corrective actions.

4) Data protection & information governance

• Serve as the lead for UK GDPR compliance (or work closely with an appointed DPO as applicable).

• Lead Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new systems, platforms, or data flows; ensure data minimisation, access control, and retention schedules.

• Oversee privacy notices, subject access processes, data breach response, and ICO registration/renewal.

5) Quality assurance (QA) of delivery

• Codify QA standards for programmes (planning, observation, feedback, supervision, reflective practice).

• Coordinate periodic QA reviews with the Head of Programmes; verify that quality actions are implemented and evidenced.

• Support the publication of proportionate impact and compliance statements to clients and stakeholders.

6) External compliance & partner due diligence

• Ensure statutory filings and insurances remain current (e.g., ICO, relevant regulator reporting).

• Oversee due diligence for key suppliers/partners (safeguarding, data protection, insurance, references) and ensure appropriate clauses in contracts.

• Advise on procurement and proportionate contract-management controls.

7) Complaints, concerns & whistleblowing

• Maintain accessible routes for complaints/concerns; ensure timely, fair handling and learning capture.

• Safeguard whistleblowers and assure the Board that concerns are investigated and addressed without detriment.

What we need from you

You’ll be:

· help set up and/or man stalls at events

· help on collection days like supermarket collections events or street collections

· help at fundraising events such as quiz nights, cake sales and dances

· promoting a professional image of Cats Protection at events

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. Our fundraising event helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between
