What’s involved?
There are governor vacancies across England and Wales. Some schools are also looking for remote governors who don't need to live near the school they support.
Governors volunteer at board level to set the strategic vision for their school. This involves constructively challenging current processes, using your unique skills to support senior leaders, and overseeing school finances. You’ll be involved in areas such as monitoring, budget management, and data analysis. As well as putting your expertise to good use, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your professional skills. Ultimately, you’ll work towards facilitating the delivery of a broad and exciting curriculum and oversee wellbeing and inclusion initiatives. REMIX is a dynamic new start-up youth charity launching to transform the lives of young people aged 11-26 from disadvantaged areas of London, initially starting in Hackney, Tower Hamlets, and Southwark. We will deliver high-impact Mentoring, Life Skills, and Personal Development programmes because we believe that a young persons postcode should never dictate their potential.
We have a clear mission, a strong name, and a dedicated Founding Board of Trustees. We now need the entrepreneurial drive and steady hand of a volunteer who can fill this brand new role of Project Director to bring our vision to life.
The Role: Steer, Guide, and Direct REMIX
This is a high-visibility, high-impact leadership role, perfect for a proven Project Manager or leader with an entrepreneurial mindset, who is passionate about social change. You will act as the interim, unpaid operational lead for the launch, ensuring all elements of the start-up phase are managed and delivered effectively.
The Project Director will report directly to the Founding Board of Trustees and be responsible for the successful set-up, initial programme delivery, and transition planning for the charity.
Key Responsibilities:

RSPCA South West London Branch is an independent charity based in Wandsworth, South West London. We operate a small animal welfare and rehoming operation. To fund our charitable activities, we operate two charity shops and an online shop. We employ 8 people.
Overview of opportunity
As a Trustee, you will serve on the governing committee of the charity. This committee oversees the running of the branch and sets out its short- and long-term goals. It is responsible for making decisions in the best interest of the branch, ensuring we are carrying out our charitable objectives, complying with our governing document and the law, and managing our resources responsibly. The committee meets monthly (online) for 1-1 1/2 hours.
As we are a small charity, some Trustees take the lead on specific areas, either on a project- or ongoing basis and many of our Trustees help with, for example, events, fundraising, the shops or rehoming activities.
What we are looking for
We are looking for people from all social and cultural backgrounds, with experience and skills in any of the areas outlined above and who are committed to the RSPCA’s charitable objective and share our passion for animal welfare. You would be creative, innovative, bring a fresh perspective and be able to put ideas into action. Experience as a charity trustee, committee chair or board chair is highly desirable.

The charity is seeking to recruit a volunteer chair of trustees, and would suit someone who has management experience in public or voluntary sector organisations. The chair will work closely with the CEO to help guide our next chapter of growth, providing governance and strategic direction inline with RAKs mission and values. Purpose of the Role
This volunteer role is a key part of the HFEH Mind team delivering a range of services across Hammersmith and Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow. We support clients with mental health with both clinical and non-clinical interventions.
The purpose of the current role is to help promote our Adult Co-production services within the local community, to increase engagement and develop collaboration between various organisations and mental health services. Our current Co-production initiatives include the Adult Co-production Group, The Shakti Project (wellbeing service for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic individuals) and a new Young Adult Co-Production group working with 18–25-year-olds.
Main Responsibilities
This role involves working closely with service managers and the co-production coordinator to discover new organisations and community events to reach out to establish a presence and promote our co-production services, as well as work in partnership with others to improve our services.
This would include identifying appropriate locations to distribute posters and promote the service, assisting with the creation of digital content promoting the service both digitally and in-person, identifying an in-person location that could function as a community hub to host regular meetings (Chai and Chat for the Shakti Project), setting up the community hub on a regular basis prior to meetings, helping with the planning and delivery of enrichment trips and outings, and keeping up to date with important events that can be used to promote our services and engage with the community e.g. Eid, Diwali, Black History Month, Mental Health Awareness week, Health Fairs, Career/ Volunteer Days, Freshers Fair etc.
Tasks
· Promoting the service to members of the South Asian and BAME community (Shakti Project) and 18–25-year-olds (Young Adult Co-Production Group)
· Community outreach: visiting places of worship, events, and communal areas in the tri-borough to promote our projects
· Keeping up to date with online groups and forums that can be used to promote the service
· Assisting in setting up a physical space to host regular Shakti Project group sessions, ensuring accessibility requirements of service users are upheld.
General Responsibilities

Time commitment and expenses:
· 6 hours per week (including a 1-hour lunch break), during our core hours of 10AM – 4 PM.
· We request a minimum commitment of 3 months of volunteering after the completion of your induction.
· We request a minimum commitment of 6 months of volunteering before reference request.
· We will provide volunteers with an induction, training, and ongoing mentoring to support them in the role.

This includes the Adult Co-production Group, The Shakti Project (wellbeing service for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic individuals) and a new Young Adult Co-Production group working with 18–25-year-olds.
Main Responsibilities
This role involves working closely with service managers and the co-production coordinator to discover new organisations and community events to reach out to establish a presence and promote our co-production services, as well as work in partnership with others to improve our services.
This would include admin tasks such as drafting emails to send to our service users and partners, establishing connections with members of the community and service providers, identifying appropriate locations to distribute posters and promote the service, assisting with the creation of digital content promoting the service both digitally and in-person, helping with the planning and delivery of enrichment trips and outings, co-facilitating online groups (where applicable).
Tasks
· Attending online meetings for the Adult Co-Production Group and/or the Shakti Project
· Promoting the service to members of the South Asian and BAME community (Shakti Project) and 18–25-year-olds (Young Adult Co-Production Group)
· Assisting with admin tasks e.g. drafting up emails to send to service users, updating our co-production newsletters, emailing charity partners and public organisations.
· Assisting with in-person events such as Health Fairs, Career/Volunteer days, cultural events

· Good knowledge of services, charities and organisations in Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow
· Previous experience with workshop or advisory group facilitation
· Experience working with young adults aged 18-25 in a variety of settings e.g. careers service, education, inpatient or outpatient mental health services.
Time commitment and expenses:
· 6 hours per week (including a 1-hour lunch break), during our core hours of 10AM – 4 PM.
· We request a minimum commitment of 3 months of volunteering after the completion of your induction.
· We request a minimum commitment of 6 months of volunteering before reference request.
· We will provide volunteers with an induction, training, and ongoing mentoring to support them in the role.

- marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press
- completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

Governors for Schools recruits and matches volunteers with school governing boards and provides ongoing support.
What’s involved?
There are governor vacancies across England and Wales. Some schools are also looking for remote governors who don't need to live near the school they support.
Governors volunteer at board level to set the strategic vision for their school. This involves constructively challenging current processes, using your unique skills to support senior leaders, and overseeing school finances. You’ll be involved in areas such as monitoring, budget management, and data analysis. As well as putting your expertise to good use, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your professional skills. Ultimately, you’ll work towards facilitating the delivery of a broad and exciting curriculum and oversee wellbeing and inclusion initiatives. Governance represents a fantastic opportunity to develop yourself while making a real impact on the education of children and young people.
Governors work collaboratively with the headteacher and other members of the board, including parents and school staff. In most schools, full board meetings are held termly, as are committee meetings. Many governors will sit on a committee linked to their expertise or interests, such as teaching and learning or finance and resources. In addition to attending meetings, governors will need to read the papers in advance, complete training courses, and occasionally visit their school.
Governors usually support schools for a period of four years and with an estimated time commitment of 7 hours per month. During these hours, you will attend meetings, read papers, attend training sessions, and make occasional visits to school.
Who can be a governor?
The most important part of being a governor is the ability to ask questions, provide support and have the best interests of the school at heart. You don't have to be a parent or have experience in education to become a governor. Schools seek a wide range of skills to support the board, including finance, HR, and data analysis.
Boards also need governors with a diversity of backgrounds and lived experiences to ensure a range of perspectives are considered during board meetings.
Schools welcome professional experience, as well as community insight and experience of working collaboratively.
You need to be aged 18 or above and there are certain criminal convictions that would exclude you from the role. A Disclosure and Barring Service check will be carried out by the school.
What’s the process?

You can complete your online profile on the website, including your motivation to take on the role, your skills and your school preferences. Your regional Partnership Manager will then look at vacancies that match your requirements. Once a school is identified, you will have the opportunity to discuss the role with them in more detail, visit the school, and observe a meeting. If appointed, a DBS check will take place and, in some cases, the school will seek references.

Relevant Person’s Representative (RPR) Volunteer
Some individuals have been deprived of their liberty following a decision about certain aspects of their care and living arrangements, such as being moved from independent accommodation into a care home, are in their best interest and necessary to keep them safe. These people are legally entitled to have support from an RPR. An RPR may be a family member, but if this is not an option then an VoiceAbility RPR volunteer can be appointed.
As an RPR Volunteer you might:
· Visiting clients to ensure they are getting the right care, support and being treated fairly
· Keeping detailed notes and records of interactions with clients and care facility staff
· Helping to ensure the client is receiving the best care, in line with their wishes
· Alerting the Team Leader to any concerns regarding the client or their treatment
· Building professional relationships with the Care Home Staff
· Recording activity on our case management system and writing reports
· Helping to make a difference to someone’s life
Hospital Visitor Volunteer
Hospital Visitor volunteers visit hospital settings to ensure that people detained under the Mental Health Act are aware that they have a legal right to an IMHA qualified advocate. The volunteers are instrumental in ensuring that clients get access to an advocate and can also support the work that advocates undertake.
· As a hospital volunteer, you might:
· Hold drop-in sessions
· Attend events and ward meetings at local facilities
· Share information
· Assist people to request advocacy support by completing a form online or calling our contact centre

We are seeking people from a variety of backgrounds to join our Policy Approval Panel. The purpose of the panel is to support the Workforce Professional Development Boards (WPDBs) by applying the appropriate scrutiny to the development and review of workforce policies developed by the sport and physical sector supported by CIMSPA.
The Policy Approval Panel will check whether the due process has been followed in the development and review of sector workforce policies such as professional standards, standards for deployment and apprenticeship standards. It will also check the accuracy of said policies, ensuring that anything issued to the WPDBs for approval is accurate and fit for purpose.
It is anticipated that the panel will meet three times per year ahead of the WPDB meetings but if there are no policies for approval of the board, the meeting will not be held.
An initial induction/standardisation meeting will be held in person, thereafter meetings will be held remotely with papers issued for review ahead of the meeting.
