Business & Human Rights Resource Centre is seeking a Communications Officer (Media) with sharp news sense to join our growing team. The successful candidate will bring talent, enthusiasm, and relevant knowledge and experience to support press and social media strategies and communications across the entire global organisation. The role sits in our global communications team, working with, and reporting to, the Head of Communications. We are a small, high-performing team tasked with increasing the media and social media coverage of BHRRC’s analysis and key findings, as well as supporting and amplifying the efforts of our partners on the ground that are fighting to achieve justice and remedies for victims of abuse.

Responsibilities
The Communications Officer (Media) will have a particular focus on increasing international media coverage of BHRRC’s work and research, and the activities of our partners, including in the field of labour rights. Responsibilities will include:
Drive a proactive and strategic press approach: Spot opportunities for high impact coverage in target outlets, building on existing press lists, develop relationships with priority journalists, and create and pitch compelling content to media, including media advisories, press releases and related materials.
Develop high-impact communications products, synthesising complex research and data sets: Work with our Global Team to develop materials which speak to our key audiences. Develop key messages for our priority programmes and also discrete outputs including individual briefings and research reports.
Contribute to organisational and project communications strategies and planning: Support the Head of Communications to implement our communications strategy. Advise project managers on strategic communications and support launch project planning. Keep our planning calendar up to date and help ensure deadlines are met.
Produce well-written content: Write and edit channel-appropriate content for our audiences. Support the Global Team to produce high-quality and newsworthy reports, op-eds and blogs.
Support digital outputs: Support the Web Content and Senior Digital Officers as appropriate, creating content for our digital platform and social media platforms (including priority platforms LinkedIn and Twitter).
Support the communications team: Provide on-call cover for the media line, with occasional infrequent out of hours work, and share admin jobs.
Key competencies and attributes
Experience: At least 3 years’ experience in a communications role, including working in a busy press office, communications department or as a journalist.
Media: Sharp news sense and editorial judgement; ability to conceive, craft and pitch news stories and carry out fast reactive work. Knowledge of and experience of working with the mainstream media, including knowledge of the editorial positions, audiences, and sections or programmes of key outlets. In addition, ideally, knowledge of international business media or media in some specific countries or regions.
Relationship building: Track record of developing relationships with journalists on key issues. Any existing contacts of relevance to BHRRC’s work a bonus.
For-impact communications: Excellent understanding of how strategic communications can work with research and advocacy approaches to achieve change. Proven ability to synthesis and communicate complex and sensitive information; understanding of how to tailor content to different audiences, contexts and channels. Outstanding written English and good oral communications ability.
Project management: Track record of leading and/or implementing complex projects including planning (timelining), execution and evaluation of lessons learned.
Strategic thinking: Track record of helping to develop successful communications strategies to effect change. Experience tailoring communications products for diverse international audiences an asset.
Supporting staff: Enthusiasm for supporting colleagues with communications. Experience supporting staff either through training, coaching or assisting with media advice an asset.
Team player: Experience of, and commitment to, working in high-performing teams that are highly collaborative and focused on outcomes. Experience of working with colleagues remotely, and in multicultural and diverse cultures and working environments also desirable.
Knowledge of human rights issues: A strong interest in international issues and familiarity with social justice issues desirable.
Languages: Must be fluent in English. Additionally Japanese or Spanish in particular, and/or French, Chinese, Arabic, Portuguese, or Russian language skills would also be an asset.

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced ERP Programme Director to lead the successful delivery of MSI’s global finance and supply chain transformation programme. This programme will transform our capabilities and delivery across MSI’s 37 Country Programmes and Global Support Office (GSO) with the introduction of new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) technology, driving us forward to deliver our vital mission.
The Director will shape the overall programme from the outset, so that it is set up for success. The successful candidate will need deep transformation and ERP experience, delivering full ERP programme lifecycles in complex organisations like MSI. For the programme to be successful, building strong relationships with key stakeholders across MSI’s Country Programmes, Regional and Global Support Offices will be crucial.
The transformation programme has been approved and is currently at the inception stage, giving the ERP Programme Director the opportunity to make key strategic decisions that will shape the programme; such as the selection of an ERP technology solution best suited to MSI’s business requirements, appointing and onboarding a third-party implementation partner and to design and recruit the internal project team required to ensure success of the programme.
We anticipate a 3-year programme cycle with occasional international travel to MSI country programmes as required for the successful delivery of the programme.

- Strong track record in strategic transformation, change leadership and programme management delivering large programmes that have resulted in transformational change in the Finance and Supply Chain domain.
- Experience of overseeing complex multi-million pound programme budgets.

- Experience driving operational efficiency in finance and supply Chain and implementing a framework for process standardisation and improvement.
- Experience delivering finance transformations involving shared service operating models.
- Extensive ERP vendor / system implementor contract management experience.
Formal Education / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field expected, but we’d welcome applications from candidates with equivalent experience
- MSP, PMP or other relevant project or programme management certification expected
- Supply chain, logistics, or accounting certification preferred but not required

- Located at a 24-hour supported housing service in Clapham, we provide high quality self-contained accommodation for 15 women who have experienced homelessness and multiple disadvantage.
- The aim of the service is to provide a therapeutic environment in which women feel safe and can flourish, enabling them to move on into independent, permanent accommodation. The accommodation also includes overnight safe spaces.
- In this role, you will provide support to all the women, including running co-designed activities and accompanying women to appointments. You will work closely with Specialist Support Workers who manage individual resident support and safety plans.
- You will model person-led, psychological, gender, and culturally informed support, will be skilled at building trust and you will be a great team player.
- The post holder will undertake 8-hour shifts on a 7-day rota, covering the hours 8am to 8pm. Please be aware that the building has several floors and no lifts.

Charity overview
The Amber Trust provides musical opportunities for blind and partially sighted children, including those with additional disabilities, via its Music Awards and Music Services.
Amber Music Awards fund instrumental and singing lessons, the purchase of musical instruments and specialist software, funding for concert tickets, and travel to musical activities for vision impaired children throughout the UK. In addition, there are structured programmes in its Music Services.
‘Little Amber’ is a service that offers music resources and quarterly sessions with a specially trained music practitioner to children under five and their families. ‘AmberPlus’ provides music resources and sessions offered on a termly basis to children over five who also have complex needs.’ ‘With Music in Mind’ is a new service for visually impaired children and young people with life-limiting neurodegenerative disease. Amber’s workshop scheme offers music sessions for groups of children in schools, charities and community organisations.
We have also developed extensive online music resources for teachers that are freely downloadable from anywhere in the world.
The Charity has a turnover of around £400k, employs a small central administrative team, and, for the music services, works through a large network of self-employed practitioners.
Role purpose
The Chief Executive Officer is responsible to the Board of Trustees for leading The Amber Trust, developing and realising Amber’s vision and strategy, and playing a key ambassadorial role with funders and other senior stakeholders. The CEO is responsible for the management of the charity and its staff and the execution of Amber’s targets, plans and policies, ensuring that resources are used to best effect in meeting the needs of beneficiaries. The CEO is responsible for initiating and overseeing new initiatives that will ensure Amber plays a leading role in the field of music and blindness in children and young people into the future.
Role Description
Accountabilities: To develop, lead and manage The Amber Trust, in particular:
Strategy
• to develop and deliver innovative projects and services in accordance with Amber’s strategy.
• to ensure Amber flourishes, meeting all its charitable objectives and its legal obligations as a charity and a company limited by guarantee, and to honour its duty of care to its staff, beneficiaries and other stakeholders;

Fundraising and events

For this role we are looking for a confident and resilient community organiser who can build strong relationships to support communities to create change locally.
What you’ll be doing:
The Communities Coordinator will support community groups to campaign for clean rivers at a local level. By facilitating grass roots action you’ll be galvanising a strong and powerful network of community activists that have the power to create change both locally and nationally. You’ll be responsible for taking River Action’s national campaign strategy to a local level. You’ll work closely with the Campaigns Manager and the wider team to develop a Community Toolkit (including advice for activists, and guidance and services for communications, fundraising, legal support and citizen science projects) to support communities as well as provide strategic support to empower community activists to campaign for clean rivers. You’ll work closely with the Campaigns Manager and wider team to amplify the stories of those taking action at a local level and connect campaign groups to the wider national agenda. You’ll be working collaboratively with the River Action team to devise, develop and deliver our strategy ensuring our programme of community engagement is equitable, diverse and inclusive. You’ll be working closely with other organisations to ensure our community support compliments the work of others and meets the needs of community groups we work with.
Main Duties

Contribute to the development and implementation of River Action’s campaign strategy.

Purpose of role
CSC is seeking to recruit a new CEO who will lead, empower, and mobilise the organisation and its support to its network members, whilst securing sustainable funding and investment so CSC can deliver its mission. Primary responsibilities

Strategic planning and priority setting

We’re looking for someone with first level NMC registration, who has a highly specialised knowledge of Parkinson’s, and recent experience of supporting a wide range of people with Parkinson’s from diagnosis to end of life within health and social care settings.
About the role
You’ll provide expert nursing advice, support and information on Parkinson’s and related conditions to people contacting Parkinson’s UK national helpline.
You’ll empower people affected by Parkinson’s, their families, friends and carers to live lives that are as fulfilling as possible whatever that means to them; and that they feel able to take an active role in their treatment and become their own advocate in health and life, wherever possible.
What you’ll do:

Provide expert telephone nursing advice, support and information on Parkinson’s, signposting clients to appropriate internal and external resources as necessary.

Develop and update professional knowledge of all aspects of Parkinson’s and Parkinsonism to ensure that the information and advice provided is accurate and based on best available evidence.

Undertake national helpline work to ensure cover across the helpline’s working hours and in line with guidance and as part of a dedicated team.

Maintain your own knowledge of the work of the charity and other health and social care providers.
What you’ll bring:

Ability to provide information on Parkinson’s medications without prescribing or recommending specific drugs.

Knowledge of the importance of raising safeguarding concerns.

Experience of providing telephone support, including use of active listening and questioning skills, and demonstrable digital competence, including online case management systems

Ability to cope with challenging or emotional situations and/or people.

Able to work collaboratively and in partnership with others.

About the Team:
The Climate and Environment Lead is based in the WASH Technical Effectiveness team of the Programme Support & Knowledge team (PSK), a key unit of the WaterAid UK International Programmes Department (IPD) operating in 17 African and Asian countries. PSK is a diverse and motivated group of 20+ technical specialists and advisors, passionate about bringing sustainable WASH to the world's poorest and most marginalised people. PSK leads and supports organisation-wide programme learning and knowledge management, collating and disseminating programme knowledge and facilitating knowledge exchange. The team provides technical advisory expertise and fosters and supports internal and external programme and technical partnerships and networks. The team also leads on developing normative programme documents and standards and advise and support the delivery of a programme capacity enhancement strategy. PSK collaborates with many functions across the organisation including policy, advocacy, campaigns, fundraising, communications, as well as with WaterAid partners and collaborators.
About the Role:
The Climate and Environment Lead is a leadership position in the WASH Technical Effectiveness team, reporting to the head of the team. The Climate and Environment Lead is accountable for the strategic development and effective delivery of the core team responsibilities on climate resilience and environmental sustainability for high quality WASH programming in both urban and rural, low-income settings, incorporating WaterAid's and the sector's leading practices, innovations and methods.
Applying a people-centred, systems strengthening approach to WASH, she/he leads the provision of high quality specialist technical analysis, advisory, and support services to the design, inception, implementation, troubleshooting, monitoring, and/or assessments of WaterAid's programming worldwide, at both strategic and operational levels.
In collaboration with country, regional and global colleagues, she/he leads the facilitation of effective learning and management of technical and programme knowledge across the organisation, and leads the development of relevant standards and guidance. She/he also provides high quality strategic and technical input to fundraising, communications, and external engagements.
The Climate and Environment Lead has substantial autonomy in determining what the technical objectives are and how they are delivered and achieved. She/he is held account for the integrity and effective delivery of the technical advice and services. She/he is seen as a thematic authority and is expected to effectively handle the most challenging technical assignments. With a strong understanding of organisational dynamics and ways of working, the Lead advisor is expected to bridge gaps and siloes, proactively establishing and maintaining relationships with colleagues across WaterAid and beyond, and facilitating joined-up and comprehensive efforts to advance WaterAid's programming globally.
About You:
- Substantial technical experience in climate science, climate adaptation, resilience, environmental sustainability, environmental impact assessment and/or other inter-related topics across different settings, demonstrated through a progressive career record.
- Strong technical experience in systems strengthening, sustainable development, water, sanitation, health, hygiene, behaviour change, gender, inclusion, and/or other WASH-related topics.
- A relevant post-Graduate degree or equivalent work experience.
- Proven ability in leadership and strategic thinking.
- Substantial experience and success in offering technical assistance, consulting, and/or advisory services to empower and to develop capacities.
- Strong ability to handle highly specialized, unusual, and challenging technical assignments, resolve complex issues in practical and imaginative ways.
- Strong writing ability in English. Experienced in producing practical knowledge products targeting needs of diverse audiences.
- Organised and efficient. Demonstrated ability to drive tasks forward to completion in a timely manner while maintaining high quality.
- A team player, able to work responsibly, under pressure, and collaboratively across diverse groups and culture
- Working style that reflects WaterAid's values of Respect, Accountability, Courage, Collaboration, Integrity and Innovation.
- Solid IT skills, particularly with core Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to travel internationally up to 30%.
Although not essential, we also prefer you to have:
- Working knowledge in French, Portuguese, Spanish, and/or any language widely spoken in the countries where WaterAid is programming.
