About us

Christian Aid is a partnership of people, churches and partner organisations committed to ending poverty worldwide. As part of our programming, we are proud to be a leading INGO Supplier to DFID and other donors in delivering large scale development programmes, awarded through service contracts under commercial tenders and under supplier frameworks. These include the STAR programme in Ghana - http://www.star-ghana.org/ - and our A+ rated PACS programme in India. We have ambitions to grow our work in this area. These high impact programmes are a key part of delivering Christian Aid's strategy and vision for social justice, transformational change and ending poverty. We work in partnership with communities, civil society, research and academia, government and the private sector.

About the role

We have an exciting vacancy to lead our work on large scale development service contracts working with multi-disciplinary teams to drive delivery of these programmes at country and global level. The role is based in the Programme Innovation and Funding Group and works directly with our country and global programmes. It involves being a 'Programme Director' HQ and line managing our country 'Team Leaders'. It is responsible for a portfolio of projects, and holds high level client and donor relationships, alongside responsibility for delivery partner/ subcontractor and consortium relationships. It works with a highly effective cross organizational group of business development and tender specialists, technical advisors, MEAL, digital communication, contract and commercial accounting specialists. The role conducts quality assurance for technical assistance, training and deliverables and agrees the scope of work for the donor/client and the team leader. You will lead agreement on the project strategy, objectives, scope and budgets including any PBR. We want you to promote innovation and learning that helps us meet our impact objectives. And do this with the expected value for money discipline that is expected.

About you

Christian Aid is looking for a highly motivated leader and manager, working in the private consultancy or not-for profit sector with significant experience of leading multi-million client facing supplier contracts in sectors including civil society support, governance and empowerment, economic development and conflict and stability. We need someone who is commercially aware, strong at building client facing and partner relationships, who can manage at distance senior staff at team leader level and engage in both the strategic and operational contexts that these programmes operate in. We need someone who delivers, who brings out the best in the teams to achieve results and impact whilst promoting learning and helping us remain cutting edge in these areas.
