Head of Strategic Finance

This is a senior and key role within the Finance Directorate. The Head of Strategic Finance will provide leadership, expertise, and hands-on support in the following areas

• Business Partnering and Development.
• Pricing Models, NPAC, and Cost Recovery Methodology.
• Financial Modelling.
• Interim Audits - annual reports and accounts production.
• Budgeting and Forecast.
• Project Management and Systems Improvement.

Reporting to the Finance Director; the Head of Strategic Finance provides direct support to several senior members of the finance team and works with colleagues across the organisation to deliver WFD’s strategy and the Finance Directorate’s goals.

Key Deliverables

Providing leadership advice and training to the business on financial models, leading annual and multi-year budget and forecast setting and analysis in consultation with the Finance Director.

Developing and maintaining a multi-year advanced financial modelling analysis with scenario indicators to drive decision-making and value for money, Pipeline Funding Management, Annual Central and Regional Staff budgeting and forecast and input into the year-end processes such as income recognition, expenditure accruals and prepayments on accuracy and completeness for Global Initiatives.

Ensuring value-added delivery and financial control analysis and resource allocation process concerning Finance input, manage and develop the staffing resources of the team.

Actively involved in problem solving and working collaboratively with the programme teams in the decision-making processes and co-leads the periodic budget re-allocation process with the Finance Director.

Working with the Head of Business Development, Director of Programmes, and Business Development Managers to develop and maintain grant management guidance and procedures.

Leading, training, supporting and developing the Finance Manager and three other staff members.

Strengthening a culture of financial awareness, supporting, and building the capacity within the Finance team and skills across the organisation and in partner organisations.

About You -We are looking for someone with substantial financial leadership experience.

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or qualified by experience.
• Proven track record of leading a finance team and providing professional finance business support, preferably within a fast-paced organisation.
• Experienced in preparing organisational budgets for an international or multi-site business.
• Experience of hands-on Financial Modelling, Multi-year Financial planning with Scenario analysis with recommendations to steer management decision.
• Experience in preparing and managing grant budgets, to ensure full cost recovery for the delivery organisation and full compliance with the donor requirements.
• Strong financial reporting skills. Experienced in preparing valuable management information, including insightful analysis and recommendations.
• Experience in supporting change in a small organisation, including system improvement relating to reporting, configuration, and process re-engineering efforts for Business Central.
• Experience of working with and influencing senior stakeholders.
• Experience/ knowledge of contributing to statutory financial statements.
• Able to provide direction to team members during audits.
• Highly proficient in the use of recognised financial accounting software.
• Advanced-level Microsoft Excel.
• Confidence to present at the Leadership team and senior stakeholders' strategic meetings in WFD.

We are looking for a part time Information & Advocacy Community Support Worker in Scotland.  You will be home based living in the North of Scotland.

You will ensure that service users (children and adults) and their families, receive high quality support, from the point of diagnosis and throughout their journey, and will assist them to access funding, equipment and care and support that they are entitled to. You will join a team that makes a real difference to the lives of the people living with muscle-wasting conditions, and their families, in Scotland. The role will be primarily home based, but there will also be a requirement to attend outpatient clinics within the region, attend home visits where appropriate and to support responding to queries through the helpline and information inbox. Some travel will be required to attend meetings and events outside of Scotland. You will work with both statutory and voluntary organisations, clinicians, and health and social care professionals to ensure that people living with muscle wasting conditions get the care and support they need to live well and independently.

The Fundraising Officer supports the generation of income, principally for Groundwork activities across the East of England. In this role, you will monitor the external funding environment to identify suitable sources of charitable trust and foundation funding and tender opportunities for projects and programmes of activity. Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. In 2024 we embarked on our new 10-year strategy for ending homelessness. We know it is not inevitable. We know together we can end it.

About the role 

As Crisis’ Media Officer, you will play a key role in securing impactful media coverage that inspires the public and politicians to join our fight to end homelessness by raising awareness of our influencing campaigns and fundraising events. You will help to build Crisis’ profile by bringing to life our work, demonstrating how we end people’s homelessness for good through education, training and support with housing, employment, and health.

Your role will be creative and varied. You’ll work with our frontline staff to identify people facing homelessness who want to share their stories and empower them to do so. At Crisis we always champion the voices and experiences of the people who we support. You’ll help create bold and hard-hitting news stories to engage our audiences and bring to life some of our biggest organisational campaigns, like our annual Christmas appeal. You will also help make the most of reactive opportunities that come through to our press office and help build relationships with key journalists. 

About you 

You will have: 

• Experience of working within a busy press office environment/ PR agency or as a journalist. 

• Experience of supporting with or delivering impactful media campaigns or stories that have helped secure quality coverage in national and regional news outlets, as well as softer consumer features.

• Excellent writing skills, with the ability to craft engaging copy for a range of audiences, including political, consumer, tabloid, trade and everything in between. 

• Experience of working with case studies, identifying and preparing stories for the media and empowering people to share their experiences.

• Strong news sense, with a good working knowledge of the UK media, including digital media production, with experience of creating digital first coverage and amplifying campaign messages creatively in the digital sphere.

The person we are looking for will:

• Have 10+ years of experience of People & Culture and DEIB experience, particularly in the non-profit/charity/social impact space. 

• Hold at least 5 years of experience in a legal counsel or similar role, advising on HR-related legal matters.

• Possess a Juris Doctor (JD) and be licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

• Have significant experience in nonprofit law, including the development, review, and negotiation of contracts, compliance with relevant regulations, and governance.

• Be a people-focused leader with strong interpersonal skills and a passion for fostering positive, inclusive workplaces.

• Be committed to actively cultivating a culture of equity, inclusion, and belonging in the workplace.

• Have a track record of successfully developing and implementing people strategies that align with organisational goals.

• Be a strategic thinker with the ability to balance day-to-day HR responsibilities with long-term cultural and organisational development goals.

• Have experience working in a global organisation, with an understanding of the complexities of international organisations, labour laws, and HR practices.

Thomas Pocklington Trust is a national charity dedicated to delivering positive change for blind and partially sighted people.

This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of our Sight Loss Councils growth strategy in the region.

This role will support the Senior Engagement Manager (SEM) for the West Midlands to manage the Staffordshire and Birmingham & Black Country Sight Loss Councils (SLC) and set up and additional SLC in Coventry and Warwickshire.

The role is full time, and we will be looking to appoint at up to £27,000 per annum.

Sight Loss Councils (SLCs) are regional groups led by blind and partially sighted people. Together, they work with organisations to ensure what they do is accessible and inclusive.

There are currently around 25 SLCs across the country and we have plans to grow this further over the next 3 years.

National themes addressed by all SLCs are accessible public transport and street safety so everyone can travel independently and safely, and health and fitness. We also work to increase the accessibility of shopping, museums and galleries, depending on local area needs.

We are now seeking someone with the passion to help us progress this work across the region, through a person-centred approach.

The successful candidate will have experience of working with volunteers with a visual impairment or additional needs. They will have proven experience of developing and delivering social action projects and have supported with planning and delivering events. The ability to work collaboratively with other organisations to achieve their goals is key

This role is primarily home based but the post holder will be required to travel to meetings at various locations within the West Midlands (it is assumed the post holder will live in the West Midlands Region) and occasionally to London.
