Rethink Mental Illness and Mental Health UK are looking for an experienced and passionate Head of Corporate Partnerships to join our Fundraising Team.

The Fundraising team is a dynamic group of fundraisers all passionate about raising money for our life-changing work in the mental health and mental illness space. We have a diverse portfolio of income streams across Events, Community, Individual Giving, Legacies, In-Memoriam, Philanthropy, Trusts and Grants, and Partnerships.

Sitting within the External Affairs directorate, we work across both Mental Health UK and Rethink Mental Illness enabling us to harness the collective power of both organisations and deliver nearly £7million to support their work.

How you will make a difference

We are looking for an experienced Head of Corporate Partnerships to join our passionate team of fundraisers to develop and implement an effective partnerships strategy for Mental Health UK and Rethink Mental Illness. Their work will drive income growth and brand awareness, deepen relationships with existing partners and proactively engage new partners.  

This role is suited to an experienced charity partnerships professional who is keen to make their mark in the mental health sector. As a senior leader, you will work collaboratively across Fundraising, Senior Leadership and the wider departments of Mental Health UK, Rethink Mental Illness and other charities in the Mental Health UK group. You will effectively lead and nurture a growing team to evolve our partnership offering, create new and dynamic partnerships and drive an ambitious pipeline with the potential to change the mental health landscape in the business community and beyond.

PCA is a national charity, dedicated to saving lives through early diagnosis. This new post has a pivotal role to play in developing and implementing PR and communications strategies that will raise awareness and support the generation of income across the UK.  

You need to be able to generate emotive and persuasive copy, and have the ability to engage journalists and produce a variety of content for both print and digital communications channels. You will also manage the UK Press Office and proactively place a variety of stories and expert speakers to raise the profile of PCA across local, regional and national media.

Main responsibilities

Press and PR:  

• Manage the UK Press Office and deliver a timely, accurate and professional response to media enquiries.
• Generate creative and headline-grabbing content for news stories and features. 
• Pitching of stories, feature ideas and expert speakers to increase our media presence.
• Production of press releases, feature articles and other resources.
• Produce and distribute effective support materials, such as Q&As, media briefings, comments and lines to take when needed.
• Be aware of the national news agenda identifying opportunities and bringing issues to the attention of the Head of Marketing and Communications as appropriate.
• Maintain awareness and knowledge of initiatives across PCA and other organisations that can add value to delivering the Charity’s objectives.
• Lead the production of a monthly media monitoring report evaluating the volume, tone and value of PCA’s media coverage. We use Cision for our media monitoring and distribution..

PR: 

• Identify opportunities to promote PCA and its activities to external audiences, including press, influencers, third parties, supporters, and other organisations.
• Support the production of PCA publications and digital communications, including social media content. 
• Undertake appropriate crisis communications/reputation management as required.

Communications:

• Develop and implement communications strategies and plans to support and maximise impact across all PCA activities.
• Work with the Fundraising Team to maximise income from an annual calendar of events, campaigns and activities.
• Support National and International awareness-raising campaigns such as Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month and World Pancreatic Cancer Day and the local implementation of activities.

 Case Studies and Patient Stories:

• Source story leads and work with the wider PCA team to identify and maximise opportunities to capture more.
• Interview patients, family members and staff to sensitively capture engaging stories for us to use across a variety of channels.

Content Creation:

• Develop creative and engaging content for a wide variety of audiences to ensure each piece achieves objectives.
• Produce creative and engaging copy for a wide variety of both online and offline channels including emails, magazines, websites, blogs, social media and adverts.
• Attend events to capture quotes, photos and videos that could be used to create future PR and communications assets.
• Support the production of PCA’s annual Action magazine.
• Ensure all content aligns with PCA text style and brand guidelines.

Kids is looking for a Senior Trust Fundraiser. This is a fantastic role for an experienced trusts and foundations fundraiser looking to take the next step in their career. Working in a supportive and well established team, you will have the autonomy and agency to lead in developing innovative new funding asks working closely with service delivery colleagues. What you will be doing as a Senior Trust Fundraiser:

• You will proactively and strategically develop national and regional funding bids, leading Kids relationships with a varied portfolio of funders.
• You will create and coordinate cross organisational project development groups and manage diverse priorities and input to craft national fundable projects that support the organisational strategies.
• You will build on relationships with existing supporters, working with service delivery staff to evidence impact in narrative and quantitative reports on funded projects and developing strategic applications to secure further support.

Personal qualities / experience required for the role of Senior Trust Fundraiser:

• You will have a minimum of two years’ experience as a trust fundraiser and a strong understanding of the sector
• You will have excellent written communication skills and the ability to craft coherent and compelling cases for support based on varied and complex information
• You will have an understanding of budgets and feel comfortable fielding questions about charity finances
• You will be confident in managing stakeholder relationships with a varied audience and have the ability to be responsive to different communication preferences and expectations
• You will have excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills plus the ability to correspond with external and internal audiences
• Experience of using Microsoft, Excel and PowerPoint

About the role:

When a person or their family member sustains a spinal cord injury it is a life changing experience. For many it is a huge concern as to whether they will be able to return to their current occupation or employer or whether they will ever be able to work or volunteer again following their spinal cord injury.

Back Up’s vocation service aims to be the leader in supporting people with spinal cord injury to return to work and our Vocation Coordinators are the main point of contact to help service users reach their vocational goals. They work in partnership with spinal units and other stakeholders such as employers to raise aspirations, coordinating activities such as our Skills for Work courses and Careers Fair, as well as providing telephone support to service users.

You’ll be a confident communicator with excellent organisational skills in person, in writing and on the telephone. You’ll enjoy planning and delivering work to see projects through; be that independently or as part of a wider team.

VERTIC is looking to appoint a Head of Finance. The role involves managing the full range of the organisation’s finances and administrative functions. This includes budgeting and forecasting at the project, programme and central level as well as running the day-to-day financial and other organisational operations. VERTIC (the Verification Research, Training and Information Centre) is an independent, non-profit making charitable organisation. Established in 1986, VERTIC supports the development, implementation and verification of international agreements to improve international peace, security, environment and development. Our activities cover international treaties and mechanisms preventing nuclear, biological and chemical weapons, measures promoting stabilisation between conventional forces, challenges and opportunities from new technologies, International Health Regulations and sustainable development. To support progress in these areas, VERTIC provides innovative research, capacity-building, and engagement with governmental, regulatory, diplomatic, scientific and non-governmental communities around the world. Functions and responsibilities

Organisation level

· Prepare annual, quarterly and monthly budgets and projections at the organisational and programme level along with management accounts and cash flow reports.

· Analyse forward cash and fundraising projections and needs.

· Brief and work with Executive Director on financial, HR and administrative matters including financial needs, staffing, projections, scenarios and planning, and risk monitoring.

· Prepare and present financial reports to Board of Trustees meetings.

· Ensure the Charity meets its statutory obligations to HMRC and Charity Commission and other relevant bodies as necessary, as well as insurance obligations.

· Keep the organisation compliant and up to date on law and best practices related to charity finance, governance, risk monitoring, HR and operations in UK and internationally.

· Prepare and submit annual statutory financial statements, prepare and facilitate the audit process.

· Help maintain, update and communicate VERTIC financial policies, procedures and controls.

· Maintain, develop and, where necessary, overhaul the organisation’s financial, HR and operational IT and physical infrastructure and records to ensure they are standardized and consistent, user-friendly, up to date, appropriately accessible and resilient.

· Ensure financial and related systems facilitate organisational stability, hand-over, and efficient knowledge-transfer including for financial management processes, software tools and records.

· Review and implement methodologies for calculating organisational financial needs and internal allocation approaches for full cost recovery, day charge out rates, overheads and reserves.

· Monitor restricted and unrestricted fund allocation

· Manage day-to-day finances, scheduling, tracking and fulfilling invoices and payments to suppliers, service providers in the UK and abroad.

· Manage bookkeeping activities, including transaction recording in the organisation’s books and reconciliation.  

· Manage bank and financial service provider accounts in various currencies, oversee fund transfers, process credit cards and charge card accounts.

· Address foreign exchange rates currency implications for the organisation. 

· For UK and international/non-UK staff: monitor staff time and leave records; ensure payroll and related employment payments are fulfilled and records kept; manage HR matters related to employment contracts, visas, salaries, time, leave, social security, pensions, benefits and expenses; assist with onboarding, offboarding, handovers.

· Support organisational level cyber security practices related to finance and operations.

· Review project contracts from funders, address due diligence and compliance matters, and keep VERTIC’s template contracts for consultants and organisations in line with best practice.

· Ensure new grants are recorded across VERTIC’s system including identifying funder rules and internal responsibilities.

· Oversee office management

Programme and project level

· Support Programme Directors with financial monitoring and planning for time allocation needs across staff and consultants, project delivery capacity, billing, fundraising, and expenditure - over monthly, quarterly and annual timelines.

· Oversee financial management of grants and other types of contract from governments from multiple regions, international organisations and charitable foundations.

· Schedule, prepare, submit and track financial reports to funders and invoices to funders, including submitting invoices on government finance systems.

· Monitor payment of invoices.

· Prepare for and host project-level audits.

· Support staff with project and activity level finances and expenditure monitoring.

· Support Programmes in fundraising by assisting with project budgets (covering staffing, travel to meetings, workshop costs, research tools, sub-contractors in the UK and overseas).

· Ensure adherence to government and charitable foundation funder rules and requirements on finance-related matters (procurement, due diligence, exchange rate methodologies, transactions, anti-bribery, anti-corruption, sanctions, management quality assurance, ethics)

· Assist with the preparation and review of contracts for sub-contractors and consultants

· Oversee/support staff with travel, event and other expenditure.

Requirements

· Significant level of experience in finance, operations and administration including in a senior/leadership role with responsibility for a department or small to medium organisation.  

· Understanding of charity accounting requirements.

· Experience in managing charity / not for profit finances including management accounts, budgets, monitoring and planning, day-to-day operations on banking, income and payments.

• Oversee the development and management of TAC’s archives, be it digital, documental or physical, ensuring that they are catalogued, accessible and available for utilisation as a key resource.

Operational

• Line manage the programme, education and engagement team(s), recruiting, as necessary, skilled persons to deliver TAC programmes.
• Manage the delivery of contracts and partnership collaborative efforts, ensuring that contracting is delivered to the highest standards at all times to protect the reputation and financial standing of the charity and to meet contractor’s expectations.
• Identify potential funders relevant to area and contribute to writing business plans demonstrating a seamless relationship between content, programmes, events, audiences, and the core business activities
• Support the work of the Director of Development Team in developing and delivering the fundraising strategy and the Director of Finance & Operations on delivering TAC financial plans

Governance & Compliance

• Write reports for the board as and when required by the CEO in a timely and appropriate manner
• Work with the Director of Finance & Ops to ensure the financial health and sustainability of the charity in delegated budget area(s), adhere to TAC Financial Regulations and Procurement Policy.
• Ensure that all artist contracting is undertaken within TAC procurements and contracting policies observing all other required policies and statutory guidelines e.g., Equalities, Safeguarding, Health and Safety, Intellectual Property, GDPR, Finance and Procurements etc.
• Maintain accurate records on The Africa Centre’s document management system and databases.
• Respond to general enquiries by email or telephone, manage own workload and maintain an online diary, using agreed TAC systems.
• To promote and comply with current legislation including The Africa Centre policies on Equality and Diversity and Health & Safety, Safeguarding, in the delivery of services and the

Leadership

• Be a vital, collegiate member of the TAC Senior leadership team,
• Develop and nurture relationships with the TAC Board, managing relevant committees and reporting to the Board and sub-committees as required.
• Represent the organisation at appropriate internal and external events and meetings, locally, regionally and globally.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

• A clearly-evidenced long-standing passion for Africa and people of African Descent
• 3 - 5 years working at a senior level in a similar role
• Excellent Programme Management experience with excellent budget management skills
• Excellent communication and networking skills, adept at effectively engaging people across a range of settings – from school children to Prime Ministers and Presidents;
• Educated to degree level of equivalent (relevant subject area)
• Team player, able to work cross disciplinary with artists, experts, academics, key stakeholders, and audiences in a programming function working with diverse audiences
• Specialist knowledge of audience development gained through 3 years’ experience
• Agile approach to work, recognising the limitations and challenges of running a small charitable organisation and willingness to work flexibly to get things done, apply effort and integrity at all times. Regular weekend and evening work will be required.
• Experience of working with an operations team to deliver events (production, tech requirements, artist management)
• Experience of delivering to funder obligations (Trusts and Foundations/Public and Private Funding) • Excellent network in publishing; cultural and creative sector; or other relevant sectors
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, et al.

Desirable

• Understanding and experience of digital content production
• Masters level qualification or equivalent
• Awareness of how to use emerging technologies including AI to develop impactful programming and engagement.
• Experience of working within a grant management organisation.

Work Arrangements

Location: The Africa Centre office, London. Occasional remote working is encouraged. The post-holder will be required to be on location in London for relevant activities. Some international travel will be required.

Job Title: Research and Policy Analyst

Location: Home Based with occasional travel to the London office

Contract: Permanent, Full Time 35 hours or part time options considered (3 days 21 hours or 4 days 28 hours or job share)

Salary: £30,961 - £32,528 per annum plus Regional Weighting (up to £4,454 in London) and £600 home working allowance

Advice UK is a small charity that makes a big impact. They support members, so it is easier for them to help their clients, and by directly influencing policy-makers, decision-makers and funders. The Role

To conduct research and analysis to build a strong evidence base to support AdviceUK's policy and campaigning goals; so that AdviceUK is an authoritative and effective advocate for the advice sector; to the benefit of people seeking advice and the communities served by our members.

Responsibilities:

Research and Analysis

• Research and provide core evidence for key stakeholder; policy submissions and reports, including government consultations and reviews.
• Conduct horizon scanning of external developments in the political and social welfare advice landscape across England, Wales and Scotland, reporting of issues of relevance to AdviceUK staff and members.
• Design and conduct quantitative and qualitative research projects to support AdviceUK's policy and campaigns work.
• Analyse and report on sector statistical releases and other key reports.
• Work collaboratively with the Systems and Technology Department to prioritise, design, gather and then maintain relevant data sets to support our work including member statistics and relevant data from AdvicePro (the case management system most of our members use).
• Assess and report on the impact of central and local government policies and proposals on the key policy issues of concern to AdviceUK members and on the social welfare sector in general.

Policy Publications and Communication

• Interpret and clearly communicate complex findings to a wide range of audiences including members, policy makers, researchers and the public.
• Research, write and produce a wide range of policy publications including reports, blogs, briefings, presentations, website and social media content.
• Provide a range of desk-based research support for key projects, including literature reviews, briefing papers, published reports and press reports
• Support the identification and gathering of case studies from AdviceUK members and its beneficiaries to support policy and campaigning activity

Data and Evidence

• Undertake research; analysis of data and reporting in order to support decision making; in particular the prioritisation of policy objectives given the diversity of our membership network.
• Support the delivery of reports as required to demonstrate if performance is achieving required KPIs
• Ensure the membership and stakeholder data you enter is accurate and timely. Work with colleagues to support data quality; accurate reporting and analysis.

About You

We'd love to hear from you if you feel you have the following skills and experiences;

• Experience and/or an understanding of the social welfare advice sector; the issues faced by advice providers and the communities they serve
• Experience of social or economic policy analysis to inform policy decision-making and proposals.
• Experience of commissioning, designing and delivering quantitative and qualitative research projects
• Proven experience of managing research and data analysis projects within agreed timescales and budgets
• Experience of working in partnership to deliver joint research projects
• Strong quantitative analytical skills, with ability to critique and summarise data and research findings to make recommendations.
• Strong understanding of social research methods or statistical analysis
