The Talent Set are delighted to be working with a fantastic charity supporting young unaccompanied refugees in England who are looking for an Interim Head of Fundraising & Communications to join their team for an initial 6 months period.
The Head of Fundraising & Communications will operate as an effective member of the Leadership Team, reporting directly to the CEO and acting as the strategic lead for the charity’s fundraising and communications activity.
Given the fluctuating nature of statutory income (currently c.75% of total income) it will be the responsibility of the Head of Fundraising & Communications to develop and implement a fundraising strategy that enables the organisation to diversify its income portfolio, ensuring a sustainable funding model that spreads risk and allows for greater donor engagement.
There is a blank canvas to be creative and try new things, with lots of scope for the successful applicant to determine where the network opportunities might lie, build long term relationships and develop an exciting programme of external communications and engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate as an effective member of the Leadership Team, working collaboratively to ensure the delivery of organisational objectives.
- Develop, lead and deliver the fundraising strategy – focused on diversification and sustainable income whilst remaining hands on in the establishment of new income streams.
- Establish clear stewardship plans for all supporters, maximising their engagement with the charity.
- Develop and implement the communications strategy – utilising external comms to engage supporters and underpin income generation whilst raising awareness about the issues faced by unaccompanied child refugees.
- Oversee the generation of tailored, multimedia content that raises awareness of the charity and drives increased support.
Person Specification:
- Aligned with the charity's values of: Respect, Integrity, Passion, Grace, Compassion and Wisdom.
- Proven expertise of fundraising across different income streams (e.g. trusts and foundations, community, regional, philanthropy). Expertise of developing new income streams from scratch/a low base would be beneficial but not essential.
- Relational approach – focused on developing long term commitments and support from key stakeholders and donor audiences.
- Experience of working in a communications role/closely with communications teams to maximise the opportunities to engage externally and increase support/awareness.
- Creative approach to fundraising, with realistic ambitions within a small charity environment.
What’s on offer:
- An initial 6 month contract with the potential for extension

The Role Within Unseen
Unseen provides support to people who have experienced Modern Slavery and Human trafficking and actively champions capturing voices in our work and providing development opportunities for those we are working with. Unseen also engages with a range of external partners to promote and facilitate person-centered and survivor informed responses to exploitation.
We develop evidence-based research and policy recommendations that are built from our support and collaboration work with survivors, key statutory service partners and NGOs. The Policy & Partnerships Officer will support the Policy & Research work of the organisation and support in the coordination of the Southwest Anti-Slavery Partnership to ensure delivery of real and tangible benefits for everyone involved, especially potential victims and survivors.
Purpose of the role
The Policy & Partnerships Officer will support in the delivery of Policy & Research projects and the collation of lived experience voices into our research work. You will work closely with the Policy & Partnerships Manager, the Survivor Involvement Coordinator, Senior Caseworkers and Unseen’s Survivor Consultant Volunteers and be responsible for the survivor consultant focus groups.
You will also support the Policy & Partnerships Manager in the coordination of the Southwest Anti-Slavery Partnership. Unseen facilitates the Avon & Somerset Anti-Slavery Partnership board, the Regional Anti-Slavery Partnership board and Bristol Modern Slavery Operational Partnership. We also support the chairs of other force area partnerships in the region and act as a point of contact in the Southwest, providing advice and guidance to partners and promoting proactive activity to eliminate Modern Slavery.
You will work closely with Unseen’s Policy & Research Team and have regular interactions with staff across Unseen’s wider teams including Support Services, Fundraising, Media & Communications and Operations.

The purpose of the role is to plan and deliver strategically the fundraising required for the ongoing success of NCO, enabling this important national music organisation to develop and deliver its mission.
Main Responsibilities
Strategy and Planning
Working with the Chief Executive and Development and Communications Committee to set and lead on the development of NCO’s development strategy, setting fundraising targets in line with strategic objectives.
Oversee all fundraising activity and report to the Chief Executive, NCO Board and Finance Committee on progress towards income targets.
As a member of the Senior Management Team, represent the Development function to ensure full account is taken of development potential whilst contributing towards the leadership and strategic direction of NCO.
Individual Giving
Lead on re-establishing NCO’s Individual Giving programme, drawing on the potential pipeline of current stakeholders (eg parents and alumni) and delegating to/working with the Development Team in its successful delivery.
Lead on new mid/major donor giving and relationships including legacies, personally managing a portfolio of prospects and donors.
Support the Development team to lead in the delivery of NCO’s annual giving programmes, ie Friends and Patrons.
Lead on individual campaigns, working collaboratively with the Development team to maximise opportunities to engage with new supporters through events and matched funding initiatives (eg The Big Give).
Work with the Chief Executive and other senior staff to ensure the continued engagement and support of the NCO Board.
Trusts and Foundations
Lead on fundraising from Trusts & Foundations and other grant giving bodies (excluding statutory funding).
Research and cultivate existing and new funders, working with the Chief Executive, Board and the Development Team to initiate new partnerships and maintaining systems to ensure that those partnerships are successfully managed and sustained.
Prepare compelling major grant applications to secure new funding with sound attention to detail, and work with colleagues by leading and advising on other vital grant applications undertaken by members of the Development team, sharing best practice in fundraising to develop the organisation’s skills.
As part of the Development team, provide appropriate and timely monitoring information to trusts and foundations, as required by their conditions of support including, where appropriate, organising events and visits.
Corporate Fundraising
Lead the Development team on stewarding existing and cultivating new corporate sponsors and ensuring benefits and recognition are delivered across NCO’s marketing channels.
Statutory Funding
Support the Chief Executive and wider team to ensure that NCO fulfils its quarterly and annual reporting requirements to Arts Council England and the Department for Education and in the creation of new funding applications including as part of the next ACE Investment Review.
(NB: The day to day management and reporting requirements of NCO’s NPO and DfE grants will be managed by a newly appointed Business Administrator and overseen by the Chief Executive).
Organisation and Management
Line manage NCO’s Development Manager through individual objective setting and performance management, regular 1:1 meetings and identification of training needs.
Empower the Development team by ensuring they have regular opportunities to develop their skills and experience across different areas of fundraising and through training whilst supporting them wholeheartedly in their professional development.
Inspire and lead the Development team, and set an example, on the application, implementation and adherence to all NCO policies and procedures.
Support the Development team to lead on the development of NCO’s CRM System (Beacon) in specific relation to its fundraising functions, in line with the Data Protection Act.
Maximise the potential of Gift Aid from all donations, supporting the Development team to ensure all donations and payments received are appropriately logged, accompanied by appropriate paperwork and in line with annual audit requirements and submitted in a timely manner.
Produce Development reports for quarterly Board and Finance Committee meetings, attending online and in person as required.
Undertake research and maintain a high level of knowledge about trusts, foundations, individuals, and statutory funding to inform planning.
Represent NCO at conferences undertaking public and media presentations, attending conferences and events and lobbying forums as appropriate

Grandmentors
Grandmentors is a national volunteering programme where older volunteers (aged 50+) use their lifetime of skills and experience to support and mentor vulnerable young adults leaving the care system. These young adults often need a guiding hand and role model to support them to find work, continue their education or begin training – ultimately giving them the skills and self-belief to lead successful and independent lives.
Volunteers meet with a young adult regularly to boost their confidence and work towards goals, which are unique to each person.
Role Purpose
We are recruiting two part-time Project Coordinators to effectively deliver all aspects of our Grandmentors project in Wiltshire, ensuring it achieves its aims, objectives, outcomes, and targets. The postholders will work alongside teams within Wiltshire Council and with local volunteers to ensure that we improve the lives of care experienced young people (aged 16-25) through the unique power of inter-generational mentoring.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Effectively manage the service to ensure it meets agreed targets and millstones.
- Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and local authority staff.
- Ensure volunteers are recruited, appropriately trained, and supported in their role; this will involve processing volunteer expenses, DBS checks and maintaining databases.
- Ensure regular communication between project staff and volunteers is maintained and that regular supervision for volunteers is provided.
- Work with your line manager to ensure project expenditure is in line with the budget.
- Maintain accurate records on all aspects of the project and submit data onto a secure system.
- Manage and maintain effective monitoring and evaluation records to capture impact and outcomes and ensure contractual compliance.
- To implement and maintain appropriate risk assessment management processes.
- Prepare impact and progress reports for both internal and external purposes.
- Develop relevant information to promote and raise the profile of Volunteering Matters locally.
- Promote and adhere to Volunteering Matters Equality and Diversity Policy and all other Volunteering Matters policies which relate to the work of Grandmentors.

The Role
The Philanthropic Partnerships Assistant plays an important role in supporting the financial sustainability objectives of GGF UK. The postholder is responsible for managing a portfolio of trust and foundations partnerships giving up to $200,000 per year, and will also be responsible for stewarding our portfolio of individual giving supporters donating up to £10,000 per year. The role also contributes to GGF UK’s communications activity in collaboration with our global Communications function, as well as contributing to ensuring that the organisation’s fundraising activity is supported with robust infrastructure and processes.
The position reports to the Head of Philanthropic Partnerships, and works closely with colleagues across Global Greengrants Fund UK and Global Greengrants Fund Inc.
The candidate profile.
The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in fundraising from trusts, foundations, and/or individual donors, ideally within environmental, international, or rights-based organisations. They will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and time management skills, effectively prioritising tasks to deliver excellent results within a complex, varied, and time-sensitive workload.
With excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, the candidate will have a proven ability to create compelling proposals, presentations, reports, and other materials. They will possess strong IT skills, including proficiency in MS Office, Google Apps, and collaboration tools like Trello and Slack, along with experience using Salesforce or other CRM systems. The candidate will have a strong understanding of and commitment to environmental and social justice, with some knowledge of the issues addressed by Global Greengrants Fund. Additionally, they will have experience working with diverse global communities in a virtual environment.
The ideal candidate will be committed to shifting power in philanthropy, promoting trust-based and power-shifting approaches to philanthropy and grantmaking. The candidate will have a strong understanding of and commitment to environmental and social justice, aligning with the issues Global Greengrants Fund addresses. Additionally, they will excel in building strong alliances with diverse constituencies and managing complex relationships, having experience working with diverse communities worldwide, particularly in a virtual setting.
