IRMO works to enable the development, agency, and participation of Latin Americans and other Spanish and Portuguese speakers, by responding to both immediate needs and structural inequalities. We do this by offering high-quality information and advice services, opportunities for development and training, and a platform to seek social and systemic change.

ABOUT OUR COMMUNITY SUPPORT TEAM

The Community Support team acts as the main point of contact for the Latin American community and IRMO, where we identify their needs and enquiries, triage the support and services to be allocated and share relevant information. The Welcome Area plays a key role in the daily operations of the organisation; offering a range of support services, which include interpreting, referrals and signposting, broadcast of information and events, amongst others.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Community Interpreter at IRMO, you will be a vital point of contact for our community of Latin American users. You will help users overcome the language barrier to access essential services to build a more integrated life in the UK.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● You will assist service users with processes such as opening a bank account, reporting hate crime, applying for National Insurance Number, driving license, Oyster card or Freedom Pass and understanding bills and making payment plans.

● You will also help to create informative materials to facilitate the effective delivery of our services. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who wants to understand the challenges faced by our community, gain experience in customer service and use their language skills in a positive and impactful way.

● Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Portuguese are essential (Spanish desirable).

Relevant Person’s Representative (RPR) Support Volunteer

People in care homes should have a voice to communicate their needs wishes and wants. Some people need support with this, but don’t have friends and family available to assist them.  This means they’re entitled to have support from an RPR and volunteer, who are there to make sure they get the care they deserve.  Your role as an RPR Support Volunteer is to collaborate with the VoiceAbility RPR to make sure a person’s views are listened to when decisions are made about their care.

As an RPR Support Volunteer you might:

· Visit people in their care home, to make sure they’re getting the right care and support

· Talk with them about their feelings, thoughts and wishes

· Raise concerns

· Keep detailed notes and records

· Make a real difference to someone’s life

All volunteering will take place Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 17:00.  You will need to be over 18 years old and be living in the UK. Please note that there is no opportunity to volunteer at weekends or in the evening.

Purpose

Young Carers’ Crew is a registered charity (number 1176778) and runs a group which meets to provide emotional and practical support to Young Carers through recreational activities. We give support to local children and young people, who perform a caring role supporting another member of their household. 

Young Carers’ Crew is a small grassroots community group. We are hoping to bring in more people with diverse skills and experience to build sustainability.  

We are looking for Volunteer Trustees with a range of skills, to help steer and direct the organisation. 

The Board of Trustees takes on the ultimate legal and financial responsibility for all the activities of the organisation. They maintain an overview of policy and strategic direction rather than being involved in day-to-day operations. This position will not have any regular contact with the children or the volunteers running the Group activities. 

Role Description 

Volunteer Trustee for Young Carers’ Crew 

Volunteering is an unpaid position. Appropriate out-of-pocket expenses will be re-imbursed.

Location: Most tasks will be home-based.  Meetings will be held in and around Hitchin, Herts.

Hours: Up to 2.5 hours per month for Board meetings. Additional time for position is estimated to be 3 to 4 hours per month.

Reports to: Chair of Board of Trustees for Young Carers’ Crew

DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) requirement: Appointment to these posts is subject to an up-to-date, satisfactory, enhanced DBS check with a check against the barred lists for children and adults.

What we ask of you:

  • Board meeting attendance (plus preparation and minutes) every 8 weeks.

We've been successful in securing funding from Wales and West Utilities for a 'test and learn' Community Connections project (covering Wales and the South West of England) which will run until March 2026. 

Community Connections aims to: 

• Connect people with, and affected by, MS across Wales and the South West of England (Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Bristol, Gloucestershire, and Wiltshire) with services, activities and resources to enable them to live well with MS.
• Develop links with local service providers which enable people with, and affected by, MS to access support and activities in their local areas, whilst improving connections within the community
• Provide information and guidance on a range of subjects, including advice about finances, cost of living-related information, energy efficiency information, carbon monoxide awareness and the Priority Service Register. 

As part of the project, we’re looking for volunteers to deliver MS Awareness sessions to partner organisations that the project will signpost to (such as Citizens Advice Bureau). MS Awareness volunteers will help us to ensure that these partner organisations are equipped to support people with MS (who will be accessing their activities and services). To help people to understand how people with MS feel.

Here’s an overview of what will be involved - 

• Delivering talks (via Zoom/Teams) to organisations to increase their understanding of MS and its symptoms. 

• Signposting to the relevant MS Society team for further information and practical support, as required.

• Note taking and helping us understand how effective sessions were 

• Attending regular volunteer support groups, where you will debrief and share experiences with other volunteers, as well as receive support from your supervisor.

We will support you to develop the skills you need for this role which will include an induction into all the areas outlined. You will have a chance to discuss your role and any additional needs you may have with us.

About Shared Lives South WestShared Lives South West recruits, trains and supports individuals and families (Shared Lives Carers) who can offer accommodation and care for adults with care and support needs in their home, enabling the person to share in family life and maintain their independence. This is known as Shared Lives.If I join Shared Lives South West as a trustee what can I expect? You will be joining an enthusiastic and committed team of trustees. Induction and training for the role will be provided. The appointment will run for three years and be subject to an annual review with the Chair of the Board. 

Two further terms of three years may be agreed. You will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement, declare any relevant business interests and complete an insolvency check as well as a charity related parties register prior to your first Board meeting. You will be required to declare, on an ongoing basis, any further relevant business interests and/or conflicts of interest that may arise. 

You will help enrich the lives of people we support by becoming a part of this friendly charity known for providing high quality support to people as recognised by our current 'Outstanding' CQC award. What difference will you make?

Trustees have independent control and legal responsibility for the charity’s management and administration. They support the strategic development and success of SLSW through ensuring good strategic planning, effective governance and the monitoring of the performance of the organisation.As a trustee, you will work alongside the chair, vice chair and other trustees to bring good governance and strategic oversight. Treasurer Role Overview
The Hospice Lottery Partnership is seeking a Treasurer to join its Board and chair the Finance Committee. This is a voluntary position for an experienced and committed finance professional who can take a collaborative, hands-on approach in partnership with the Head of Finance and Operations and the executive team. The role focuses on enhancing financial insight, strengthening reporting, and supporting strategic planning.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strategic thinking, a passion for the charity’s mission, and a commitment to supporting the hospices that provide compassionate care in their local communities.

Key Information

• Vacancy: The current Treasurer will step into the role of Chair of the Board in September, creating an opportunity for a new Treasurer to join the organisation.

• Dedication and Commitment: The role requires dedication and a willingness to support and mentor the Head of Finance and Operations, along with regular collaboration with the executive team.

• Hands-On Involvement: The Treasurer will have active oversight of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, internal controls, and the annual audit process.

• Essential Skills: A qualified accountant with experience in strategy and governance is sought. A collaborative working style is essential. Knowledge of the Gambling Act is advantageous but not required, as training will be provided.

• Location: Partner hospices are located across Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, and West London. HLP’s office is based in Tring. Board meetings are generally held at partner offices, while Finance Committee meetings are held in Tring. Most work can be undertaken remotely, with occasional in-person meetings as needed.

• Time Commitment: The role involves attendance at four Finance Committee meetings (March, June, September, and December) and four Board meetings (April, July, October, and January) annually. Each meeting typically requires half a day of preparation and half a day for attendance. An additional 2–4 hours per week is recommended for reviewing documents, following up on actions, and liaising with the Chair and executive team.

New College Worcester is a unique college, delivering education to young people who are blind or vision-impaired (VI) in a beautiful, rural setting to the southwest of Worcester. About the role

We are seeking to appoint three new Governors to join our Board as well as having a role on a relevant committee.

As a Governor, you will support our organisational aspirations and ensure that the College can continue to offer high-quality education in a setting where our learners are safe and well cared for. Safeguarding and wellbeing are paramount to us for our learners.

We are looking for Governors with the following expertise:

• Finance, Resources & Safeguarding Committee

Our Finance, Resources and Safeguarding Committee (FRSC) is a space where we discuss a broad range of issues relating to the wider functions of our college, not just finance. Therefore, we seek candidates with expertise that will complement the existing skill sets on the Board, such as health and safety, cyber security, marketing and student recruitment. We would also be keen to hear from those with strategic expertise in finance in an educational context.

• Education Services & Safeguarding Committee

We have a broad range of expertise on our Education Services and Safeguarding Committee (ESSC) and find great value in having a diverse range of experience on our Board to offer guidance, advice and challenge with the decisions we make in relation to our curriculum and care. We seek candidates with strategic experience in the cross-section of the education sector, including secondary, further and specialist provision. Candidates with additional experience in safeguarding in an educational context will be very much welcomed.

• Residential Care & Safeguarding Committee

As a member of our Residential Care & Safeguarding Committee (RCSC), we seek candidates with knowledge and experience of safeguarding young people and vulnerable adults, along with an up-to-date knowledge of relevant policies and practice. This does not need to have been in a formal education setting. We are open to candidates with experience in the residential care sector, especially where this relates to young people.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for a person willing to bring energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to the role, and who will broaden the diversity of thinking on our board.

Previously worked with or advising charities in a leadership or governance role.

An appreciation of the Royal Navy &/or the military charity sector.

Understanding of the role of a charity trustee or previous experience of being one.

We are particularly interested in people with skills and expertise to offer around:

• Finance – a chartered accountant to provide advice and guidance to our Head of Finance and work closely with the Board to maintain financial sustainability in line with our strategic goals. Understanding of charity finance regulations, best practice, and reporting requirements.

Terms of appointment/Time Commitment

• Trustees are appointed for a three-year term of office.
• This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
• A minimum of three scheduled Board meetings per year (held
  primarily at our offices, Castaway House, Portsmouth and occasionally
  in London). Meetings are usually held in March, late June/ early July,
  and October and normally last for around 3 hours;
• An annual board away day / strategy held at an external location;
• A minimum of one and up to three Finance and Governance Board
  committee meetings; and
•  Relevant training or other development as determined throughout the year. We will provide the successful candidate with a bespoke induction and training programme, commensurate with the experience of the
  individual selected.

Knowledge, skills and experience

An understanding or experience of financial oversight is considered desirable but not essential.

Trustee commitment and responsibilities

All Trustee positions are voluntary with reasonable expenses remunerated.

To be an effective Trustee, you will need to commit approximately 1-2 days per quarter to attend and prepare for board meetings which are generally held virtually.

Members of our Audit, Risk and Compliance committee additionally meet two weeks before each board meeting for finance and regulation focused discussions with the Executive team.

· Ensuring we are working towards our vision, mission and values in everything we do.

· Supporting strategic decision-making by actively contributing advice, guidance, and opinion in the pursuit of the organisation’s objectives.

· Constructively guide the Executive in the delivery of the organisation’s strategy.

Across the UK, our 270 local groups play a vital part in supporting people affected by MS. They provide sense of belonging, unity and friendship. And they deliver services and support for their local MS community.

We are looking to recruit an Activities Volunteer for the Mid Cornwall Group. As our local group Activities Volunteer you’ll help us to set up activities in the area. Whether you’re serving refreshments, talking to people, registering attendees or collecting payments, you’ll be making sure everyone feel welcome.

In this role you’ll be able to develop your organisation, communication and team working skills. Most importantly you’ll be supporting your local group to run activities that bring friendship and fun to your local MS Community.

About you

You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You’ll be able to apply disability, equality and inclusion practices and understand and apply our risk management system. Ideally you’ll understand the local area and organisations that provide local services.

You will be reliable and easy to contact and you need to live in or near the area the group to carry out this role.

Time Commitment

We estimate this role will need up to two hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.

Action for Refugees in Lewisham works to relieve poverty and isolation amongst refugees, asylum seekers and other vulnerable migrants in Lewisham. At the Rainbow Club supplementary school we aim to help children between the ages of 4 and 11 to improve their literacy, numeracy and social skills in a friendly and supportive environment.  We need your skills and enthusiasm to assist the teacher in the delivery of a literacy and numeracy class and work with other volunteers to develop a programme of recreational activities. The Rainbow Club runs on Saturday mornings during term-time.

Your duties will include:

• Arriving punctually for the 9am briefing by the Rainbow Club Headteacher;
• Working in a team with other volunteers and teachers to deliver literacy, numeracy, arts, sport activities – this includes ensuring children remain engaged throughout the lesson and carry out set tasks as instructed by the teacher;
• Working one-to-one with specific children if and when required;
• Filing classroom work and homework in children’s individual files and keeping all materials and resources tidy and properly stored;
• Liaising with parents as and when required for example distributing leaflets and news about future meetings and events and also assisting with parents' day;
• Following the teacher’s policies on discipline and classroom management;
• Supervising the children during break times;
• Supporting the children during class trips;
• Ensuring classrooms are clean and tidy at the end of each day – this may include being part of a regular team rota;
• Providing feedback and comments to the Rainbow Club Headteacher when required.
