The Role – Philanthropy & Legacy Manager
The Fundraising Department of Chester Zoo, a major wildlife charity, with a mission of Preventing Extinction works to secure income which contributes towards the delivery of our strategic development plan and ambitious conservation plan, helping to ensure nature can survive and thrive.
We have an exciting new role for an outstanding Philanthropy & Legacy Manager to join our ambitious fundraising team. We are looking for an experienced individual to help to lead the delivery of Chester Zoo's high value relationship strategy, helping to build new relationships with philanthropists to fund a range of vital conservation projects and support the zoo’s ambitious growth targets leading to its centenary in 2031.
This role also delivers the organisations legacy programme, leading the growth and stewardship of legacy giving and ensuring these deeply personal gifts are honoured with sensitivity and compassion.
Reporting to the Fundraising & Philanthropy Lead and working across the organisation, we’re looking for somebody who is ambitious and results orientated with a natural enthusiasm and curiosity, who has strong relationship building skills and the ability to influence, negotiate and listen when representing Chester Zoo.
We’re looking for someone who can:
- Fundraising Strategy
Implement plans to attract high-value individual philanthropists in collaboration with the Fundraising & Philanthropy Lead and wider Fundraising strategy.
- Targets
Contribute to the delivery of the organisation’s ambitious growth around philanthropic giving, setting KPI’s and working with our Executive team to secure donations of £10,000 and above.
- Prospect Research
Work across the organisation to identify and research potential major donors who align with the organisation's conservation mission and goals.
- Legacy management
Lead on the growth and management of legacy giving, ensuring our lifetime supporters are stewarded. Building on relationships with families and solicitors to ensure these deeply personal gifts are honoured with sensitivity and care.
- Donor Cultivation and Communications
Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective donors, creating individual plans for donor stewardship. Working closely with the Senior Data and Insights Manager and Senior Marketing Manager to fully utilise the CRM - preparing strong communication updates and regular bespoke reports.
- Event Management and Stewardship
Work across the organisation with our in-house teams to lead and curate exceptional engagement opportunities through events and experiences. Develop donor visits, creating bespoke touchpoints with individuals which cultivate and inspire donors and prospects.
- Proposal Writing
Create compelling, persuasive and bespoke proposals for prospective donors to influence and engage them and secure philanthropic support.
- Recording and Thanking
Keep accurate records on the database to include all communications, donor plans, pledges, proposals, gifts and restrictions. Working with the Fundraising Administrator to handle accompanying gift administration as well as recognition.

Our Requirements
- Demonstrable experience in securing and managing five figures+ philanthropic gifts from individuals
- Proven track record in writing exceptional, accurate and compelling proposals
- Experience in producing high-quality impact reports for funders
- Skilled in managing and developing a portfolio of funders and meeting fundraising targets
- Experience in developing and building long-term donor relationships
- Outstanding communication skills
- Proven experience of delivering consistently high levels of supporter care
- Experience in curating and managing stewardship events
- Experience of prioritising and balancing a busy workload

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, whose mission is to see a time when no deaf person feels alone, is seeking a Principal Gifts Manager responsible for identifying, cultivating and stewarding high-value donors to the charity giving £100,000 plus.
Hearing Dogs for Deaf People has been creating life-changing partnerships between hearing dogs and deaf recipients since 1982. As well as acting as an ear to their partners and alerting them to sounds, the charity’s clever and expertly trained dogs help deaf people to live life with confidence and independence, whilst providing love, companionship and emotional support.
Following on from a strategic review, the charity is now looking to build a new Income Generation Directorate, to enable them to transform many more lives across the UK. This role will be critical to help Hearing Dogs reach their goals to significantly grow and diversify income.
Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy, the post-holder will work closely with senior leaders, trustees and senior stakeholders to solicit high value gifts, typically of six and seven figures, and to build and deepen long-term relationships between donors and the charity. You will be responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of potential and current principal-level donors, as well as delivering exceptional stewardship journeys that demonstrate the impact and value of donor support.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in securing major gifts at the six-figure level or above, ideally in a principal or transformational giving context. Finally, it is important that you are a collaborative team player with strong project management and communication skills.

As Development Manager you will:

· Deepen relationships with existing supporters by developing and delivering an impactful stewardship framework for individual donors.
· Work in consultation with the marketing team to create inspiring and relevant communication strategy for individual supporters with a focus on impact, to include regular feedback mechanisms to improve stewardship plans and engagement.
· Build the financial resilience of the Cathedral through developing individual prospecting processes, prospect research, and developing qualified prospect pipelines to secure income from individual supporters and major donors. With an initial focus on the Vicars’ Close project and developing in line with future priorities.
· Work with the Director of Development to develop an inspiring range of bespoke cultivation plans for Major Donors.
· Design, deliver and support a range of unique events to inspire supporters and cultivate new relationships, bringing to life the extraordinary work of the Cathedral. Work across the cathedral to integrate fundraising into existing events and programmes.
· Achieve results through persuasive and compelling proposals for Major Donors and creation of robust budgets. Amplify project impact through inspiring reports and personalised engagement opportunities.
· Develop, manage and deliver Wells Cathedral’s individual giving programmes, including Planned Giving, regular inspiring appeals and individual giving opportunities as part of priority projects.
· Strengthen supporter relationships across the organisation, working with the Cathedral leadership team, Chapter and project leads to support engagement with individual donors and Major Donors.
· Develop and implement plans to keep existing donors engaged, with opportunities to increase their level of giving over time and in line with projects and targeted appeals.
· Regularly report progress to the Development Director and Cathedral Chapter on the individual giving income pipeline, supporter engagement, upcoming opportunities, and challenges.
· Keep up to date with trends and good practice and identify opportunities to improve and develop Wells Cathedral’s individual giving.
· Utilise CRM as an effective Relationship Management tool and develop robust prospecting processes.
· As the Cathedral’s Gift in Wills strategy develops, support engagement opportunities for individual supporters and develop appropriate processes to support this area.
· Network and keep abreast of the wider funding landscape and giving trends to inform the strategy.
· Support the team through additional duties as reasonably required to assist the smooth and efficient running of the Development Team and maximise the impact of the fundraising function. Some weekend and out of hours working may be required.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead on the launch of a new RG proposition and ensure that the onboarding and onward journey is fit for purpose.

The Operations Manager is a key role within the team, ensuring the effective and efficient management of the SLG’s three sites: the Main Gallery, the Fire Station and Art Block. This includes managing the maintenance and upkeep of the SLG’s Grade II listed buildings and artist-designed gardens, as well as leading the Front of House team to ensure that the SLG provides a welcoming and inclusive environment for all visitors and a high quality of visitor experience.
The Operations Manager works closely with the Deputy Director and manages a team comprising two Operations Supervisors, the Gallery Technician and contracted and casual Front of House staff and Cleaners. The role takes the lead on the implementation and monitoring of the SLG’s environment and sustainability policy and contributes to organisation-wide work towards the SLG’s equity, diversity and inclusion objectives.
The post holder will be required to be an appointed first aider and a fire marshal, as well as a primary keyholder. They may, therefore, be called upon for out of hours emergencies. Appropriate training will be given.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Management
• Develop and monitor policies, procedures, and good practices.

ROLE PURPOSE
You will be part of a team helping to transform lives by enabling young people to manage their licenses and move towards greater independence within the community. This role requires knowledge of supporting individuals with complex needs using trauma-informed approaches and working in a Psychologically Informed Environment. The service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Job summary
The Registry Manager supports all aspects of training and course administration from first enquiry to graduation. This includes introductory courses, professional counselling and psychotherapy qualifications, and MA programmes validated by Middlesex University. Reporting to the responsible Management Committee Lead, the Registry Manager ensures that we deliver efficient and effective services to support admissions, enrolment, university registration, assessment, progression, HESA data returns, awards, and graduation of our students.

The DRIVE Service Manager will be responsible for mobilising the expansion project across London, working closely with all Boroughs and te Drive Central Team.
