The Business Support team plays a key role in the charity, as our work with employers, helping them improve their frameworks and cultures, also creates safer work environments for whistleblowers, and supports our whole operation financially.

The role is varied and will help you enhance your negotiation, persuasion, organisation and creative skills. The vacancy would suit individuals who have some sales experience, and want to develop and enhance this, applying this experience in an environment that has a societal impact.  It may also suit a graduate looking to work in a unique business development setting. Crucially, we are looking for self-starters who use their initiative to contribute great ideas and succeed with their sales. 

Purpose:

You will generate income for the charity by identifying and securing new business, and maintain strong relationships with existing members and clients in order to explore further business opportunities with them.

The role will be selling Protect’s training, consultancy and membership services to employers who want to strive towards positive speak-up cultures.

Key responsibilities:

• Creating and converting a pipeline of potential members and other clients, in order to hit sales target and achieve KPIs
• Selling the charity’s services to inbound enquiries, resulting from marketing activity by the charity (eg webinars, SEO, social media and conferences)
• Enhancing the client relationship with existing clients through effective account management, and upselling services
• Being attentive to current legal affairs, whistleblowing cases and commercial market trends to accurately inform sector and client approaches
• Assist with business development projects and focuses including sector approaches, including round tables, breakfast briefings)
• Being a positive ambassador for the charity at national exhibitions, events and conferences

The Degrees Initiative is a UK-based NGO that builds the capacity of developing countries to evaluate solar radiation modification (SRM), a controversial proposal for reducing some impacts of climate change by reflecting sunlight away from the Earth. Degrees is neutral on whether SRM should ever be used, but we believe that developing countries should be empowered to conduct their own research and to play a central role in SRM discussions.

Degrees’ programmatic work is centred on capacity-building through research grants and North–South and South–South collaboration schemes, outreach activities, and cross-cutting community building. Joining a growing team, the Administrative Officer will support the Policy Engagement and Programmes teams through the provision of administrative services to ensure the efficient organisation of, execution of, and participation in events. As we prepare to launch an ambitious £150 million philanthropic campaign, we are seeking a strategic and driven Prospect Development Manager to lead the delivery of insight-driven prospect management across the Philanthropy and Partnerships Directorate.

You will play a critical role in creating a steady pipeline of new potential supporters for the fundraising teams, as well as helping shape the data and analytics strategy that will measure the impact of our campaign.

You will ensure that business-as-usual activity—such as briefing materials, due diligence, fundraiser portfolio reviews, prospect research, and insight—is delivered to a high standard, with the understanding that over the course of the campaign, these activities will be undertaken primarily in service of the campaign itself, rather than in addition to it

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

Strategy and Planning

The Individual Giving & Community Fundraising Manager will have an exciting opportunity to grow World Child Cancer’s individual giving. They will also lead on creating a donor experience that will ensure people can engage with us in lots of different ways, from a lottery or regular support, legacies, community fundraising and events (including the London Marathon).

The post holder will be responsible for:

• Managing and growing individual giving.
• Recruiting and stewarding individual supporters through existing channels.
• Helping to secure funding to invest in launching a World Child Cancer charity lottery.
• Stewarding participants to build a pool of regular givers, medium level donors, legacy donors and event participants.
• Ensuring fundraising data is effectively managed, analysed and utilised.
• Managing the challenge and community fundraising. Supported by the Fundraising Executive.
• Supporting the Fundraising Executive responsible for the planning and logistics for fundraising events.
• Working collaboratively with the other Fundraising teams and Marketing to ensure supporters get the best experience.

This is a hands-on management role so you will need to be prepared to do the work as well as managing. The post holder will be an ambitious, creative self-starter who is passionate about World Child Cancer’s programmes as well as our fundraising activities. They will work as well in a team as they do on their own and be happy to undertake administrative tasks as well as more complex fundraising projects. As a smaller organisation (circa £3m) everyone has to be prepared to support each other, so tasks may vary.
