Objective:

2wish exists to provide support to anyone affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young person aged 25 and under.

Aims:

• Ensure every Emergency Department and Critical Care unit has a suitable bereavement suite
• Ensure that bereavement boxes are available at each of these hospitals
• Ensure that immediate bereavement support is available for all affected by the sudden death of a child or young person
• Provide a professional counselling service and other therapies for those affected by the sudden death of a child or young person
• Provide support to individuals who witness the sudden death of a child or young person
• Provide support and training to professionals from any sector who may be affected by the sudden death of a child or young person
• To advocate and campaign on behalf of suddenly bereaved families

2wish Cymru & 2wish:

2wish has been established since 2012 and has grown from strength to strength. During tis time, we have worked tirelessly to embed our service and ensure that the offer of support is made at the point of death.

We offer an immediate, consistent, high-quality and compassionate service to all individuals affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young person aged 25 and under in Wales and the bordering counties in England, including; Cheshire, Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Avon and Somerset, with the plan to continue to roll out support to the whole of England.

We work in partnership with professionals who refer int the charity on behalf of families, so they don’t have to trawl through the internet for an organisation who may, or may not, be able to support. We provide immediate, and ongoing, support and are here for as long as our families need us.

Context of role:

The Children and Young People Coordinator will deliver our specialist support service for children and young people affected by sudden bereavement. You will be responsible for ensuring that our services are trauma-informed, age-appropriate, and responsive to the complex and individual needs of children and young people who have experienced profound loss.

The Children and Young People Coordinator will work closely with statutory colleagues in health, education, and social care to raise the profile of 2wish and deliver training and workshops to educators to equip them to support young people following a sudden death. The candidate will also develop resources for our website and collaborate with other charities supporting young people to provide a holistic and appropriate service to meet the need.

Main duties:

Service:

• To deliver the Children and Young People service including the delivery of casework support, and referrals into support pathways including therapeutic services, peer support services and other support agencies where appropriate.
• Ensure all services are child-focused, trauma-informed, inclusive, and responsive to need.
• Adhere to child protection and safeguarding practices and procedures in line with national guidelines.
• Utilise a multi-agency approach to supporting young people that priorities individual need and a holistic view to support.
• Build relationships with schools, mental health services, safeguarding boards and other agencies.
• Promote awareness of the charity’s work through training, presentations, workshops and collaboration oversee the delivery of training delivered to professional partners.
• Represent the charity and act as an ambassador for children and young people’s voices.
• To work closely with the Children and Young People Manager to ensure delivery and growth of services.
• Contribute to developing bereavement resources to support children and young people (and the professionals who work alongside them).
• Contribute to annual children and young people focused campaigns and events.
• To co-lead in the recruitment, retention and delivery of our Young Ambassador Program.
• To signpost and/or refer to other agencies as required that can provide support as needed.

General:

It is the nature of the work that tasks and responsibilities are in may circumstances unpredictable and varied. All employees are therefore expected to work in a flexible way and tasks, which are not specifically covered in their job description may have to be undertaken.

You will be subject to performance review, which will incorporate a review of the above duties and performance over the period.

This role is subject to a DBS check.

What we do for you:

Salary: Starting salary of £26,500 per annum

Contract type: Permanent

Hours: Normal office hours are 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday, although alternative hours may be worked with line manager agreement. Work outside office hours may sometimes be necessary and will be compensated for by time off in lieu.

Annual leave: 28 days plus bank holidays. Annual leave steadily increases after five years of service. Annual leave and statutory holidays are calculated on a pro rata basis where applicable.

Pension: 2wish operate a contributory pension scheme. 2wish will auto-enrol you into the scheme in accordance with it's auto-enrolment obligations. Full details of the scheme will be provided to you once you are enrolled, including the minimum level of contributions that you will be required to make during your membership (current contributions - employer 3% and employee 5%).

Mileage: A fixed rate allowance is payable for agreed mileage undertaken on 2wish business in a private vehicle, over and above your usual journey to your workplace/s.

Location: 2wish currently offers a form of hybrid working and this will continue for the foreseeable future. This post is home and office based with travel across the region you are covering.

PRINCIPAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Supervision 

• Ensure that all advice given under your supervision conforms to Citizens Advice quality standards and with our systems and procedures. 

• Supervise advice teams in our main office, at outreach locations and on remote services (e.g. Adviceline) to ensure smooth running of services and client journeys. 

• Manage drop-in sessions at our main office and at external locations 

• Identify general training and support needs in paid and voluntary staff under your supervision and feed back into the organisation’s learning and development plan. 

• Provide timely feedback to paid and voluntary trainee advisers by observing client interviews and reviewing follow-up work 

Quality assurance and training 

• Working as part of our case review team, conduct case reviews to set rectification action for both paid and voluntary staff to ensure Citizens Advice quality standards are met. 

• Keep up to date with legislation, case law, policies and procedures, and disseminate updates to paid and voluntary staff through our communications channels. 

Research, campaigns and partnership building 

• Take part in the organisation’s responses to local research and campaign issues by supporting paid and voluntary staff to collect case studies and statistical data. 

• Contribute to developing partnerships with other organisations to support our advice work.

Providing tailored support and guidance to children, young people, and families, this role will actively contribute to achieving high standards of care, quality, and positive outcomes - supporting service users to fulfil their potential, through consistent and meaningful participation.

Main Duties:

• Providing tailored one-to-one support, guidance, and interventions.
• Assessing the needs of children and young people, determining appropriate support plans and pathways, and informing risk reduction plans - supporting access to additional or specialist services where necessary.

• Developing sustainable joint service work with referring agencies, local authorities, children’s social care, and children and families services (CFS).

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Support coach to join our team which focus on supporting residents with OPD (Offender Personality Disorder) and related cognitive or behavioural challenges, many of whom have experienced institutional care or social exclusion. You will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the service, acting as a mentor and lead for the team, providing advice and guidance, as well as providing specialist expertise to the team and residents. 

You will further deliver one-to-one support with residents directly, developing personalised support plans, risk assessments, facilitating life skills sessions, and help individuals access services, resources, and opportunities within the community. Our support is tailored towards providing person centred support to empower our residents to achieve their personal goals and independent living. You will be instrumental in creating a safe, flexible, inclusive, and psychologically informed environment that promotes dignity, choice, and empowerment.

• Delivering effective 1:1 and group-based support for residents/participants in line with support plans
• Providing specialist advice and guidance to the team and residents

About You

You'll bring experience within a similar environment to the role, and have experience in supporting similar residents with areas of social care, supported housing, and community support. You will have a commitment to person-centred support and have an understanding of the importance of trauma-informed care, able to lead by example.

The UK Advocacy team focuses on creating lasting change for people with arthritis.We identify the policy changes that are needed, and influence decision-makers with engaging public affairs tactics and by campaigning alongside people with arthritis. 

This role will support our public affairs work targeted at Westminster to make real change happen. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with the team to increase our profile and raise our key policy areas with decision-makers and drive forward the goal of putting the needs of people with arthritis on the political agenda. 

About the role

In this exciting role, you will be a critical member of our influencing team, helping to bring the voice of people living with arthritis right into the heart of Westminster. Working with the Public Affairs team, you will help to deliver the charity’s public affairs activities, building a strong profile with decision-makers to ensure our messages and policy priorities are front and centre of their thoughts.

You will support the delivery of exciting and engaging influencing strategies, working with colleagues to combine policy, public affairs, campaigning, media and social media in order to influence policy change.  You will also play a key role in organising and delivering the charity’s activities at Parliamentary events and political party conferences.

About you

• Strong communicator to help build external relationships with politicians, civil servants and other decision-makers, coupled with good understanding of the Westminster Parliamentary process, UK Government and the wider influencing environment to produce engaging materials and organise events.
• Excellent organisational skills are essential, to deliver a programme of events, politician visits and other activities in Westminster and across the devolved nations.
• Excellent attention to detail, and ability to adapt written and verbal communication styles for different audiences.
• Ability to work with colleagues to develop external briefings, internal briefings and engaging materials for Parliamentarians and policy-makers, with the ability to synthesize often complex policy information.
• Proven ability of monitoring and analysis of the external policy, political and Parliamentary landscape across the UK nations, alerting breaking news and important developments.

As a YWA at Respond, you will provide high-quality, trauma-informed advocacy for young women and girls age 14-25, with complex needs experiencing multiple disadvantages. 

Ensuring their safety and empowering them to rebuild their lives by advocating for young women and girls to be represented and that their choices and needs are kept central in all activities and decisions.

You will conduct risk assessments (DASH) and work closely with agencies. Your role includes supporting young women and girls in building self-protective skills and resilience, such as self-esteem, confidence, and safety planning. You will also design sessions that help identify healthy and unhealthy relationships, working with social services, police, schools, and housing authorities. You will also play a key role in raising awareness and improving support for neurodivergent survivors.

NAPAC is seeking Call and Email Handlers for our support services in Stockport

NAPAC provides the only free national support service for adult survivors of all types of childhood abuse. We offer specialist, confidential support to all adult survivors of any type of abuse, operated by experienced staff and trained volunteers.

NAPAC works closely with the criminal justice and public health sectors. We support survivors to navigate and understand their options with criminal and civil law, and in healing and recovery. Choice is key, and our website provides a lot of free information for survivors and those supporting them. 

As a trusted public-health organisation, people use NAPAC’s services to support their overall health and wellbeing, to build and improve their resilience, and to be able to make brave, positive choices every day – including asking for help when they need it.

Those using our services ask for support with a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, isolation, navigating relationships, dissociative identity disorder, reporting to the police, domestic and sexual violence, boundaries, and complex post-traumatic stress. For many, contacting NAPAC is a first step to recovering from trauma and leading happier, more fulfilled lives.

NAPAC support service often hear from adult survivors that are disclosing their childhood abuse for the very first time, so sensitivity, safety and confidentiality are highly important.

So, if you are someone who is looking to make a real difference in the lives of the people we support by empowering them through emotional support, and understanding, then this job role is perfect for you. As a support line Call Handler, you will be a key member of our dedicated team, providing emotional support and a safe environment for callers with a wide range of complex issues.

NAPAC offers full training and hands-on support for call handlers with every call they receive. You will use the knowledge and skills you’ve developed through our training to explore issues relating to childhood abuse and it how it effects adulthood and signpost callers to relevant resources and services that can provide more in-depth support. Calls are caller-led, and you will be there to empower each caller to take back control in their lives.

We are looking for someone who is empathetic and resilient with a real passion for supporting people through their healing journey. We want our team to reflect the diversity of the people we support, and actively encourage applicants with different lived experience.

Key Responsibilities:

· Follow confidentiality and safeguarding policies

· Provide appropriate signposting to external services in accordance to callers identified needs.

· Ensuring that key record keeping is maintained to the required standard and contributing to service monitoring requirements

· You will have the emotional resilience to be able to support individuals who may be severely distressed, experienced trauma, and people who may be at risk of harm.

· The ability to think on your feet to support callers who may call during panic attacks or flashbacks

· Providing email support to individuals.

· Being flexible in your approach to your work in line with changing and growing needs of the support service.

· To be Caller led and be able to keep your own personal boundaries whilst working in your own unique way.

Salary: £26,520 per annum, pro rata, plus pension and an employee benefits package.

Hours:  17.5 per week (0.5 FTE) to be worked flexibly across the week in person. Remote and hybrid working is not available for this role.

Contract: One year, with possibility of extension subject to funding.
