We are seeking an experienced, strategic and collaborative Head of Communications and External Engagement to join our Senior Leadership Team and play a pivotal role in shaping Martingale’s external profile, strategic partnerships, and policy influence.
As Head of Communications and External Engagement, you will join our growing senior management team, overseeing several critical aspects of Martingale’s work: communications and recruitment; partnerships and fundraising; and policy and advocacy. Working closely with the CEO, you will oversee all aspect of Martingale’s external communications and engagement to ensure Martingale’s success.
You will set the strategic direction of Martingale’s external positioning, working closely with the CEO on a day-to-day basis to ensure that our communications, partnerships and policy activity is aligned and meeting Martingale’s mission. You will ensure that Martingale’s messaging is consistent, with a bold brand presence and strong collaboration with various external stakeholders including funders, universities, media, and government.

Strategic Leadership

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, positive and creative communicator to help our small team support and empower people living with a genetic bleeding disorder.
It might sound obvious, but we need someone who loves communicating - whether that’s chatting to supporters at events, writing engaging content or creating eye-catching social media posts.You’ll immerse yourself in the wide range of work our small charity does and help us maximise its impact.
Your main focus will be on shaping and improving content and engagement on our social media channels, with support from our Digital Marketing and Content Manager, but this is a varied role with lots of opportunities to get involved in a wide range of projects. There’ll also be ample of opportunities to develop your skills and experience – both learning from members of the team and through external training.
We’re really proud of the work we do. This year’s highlights include writing and launching a ground-breaking report on the treatment of women and girls, coordinating a nationwide celebration of sport and organising a weekend event for parents of children newly diagnosed with a bleeding disorder. We are seeking an experienced Operations and Systems Manager to join our team. As Operations and Systems Manager, you will ensure SMK’s operations are well managed, and make sure that we have all the processes, technology and policies needed to operate effectively. The Operations and Systems Manager will work closely with the CEO, Board and staff team of 6, and hold the relationships with our external IT, Accounting and HR providers. Flexible and Hybrid Working
Our office base is located in central London. You need to be in the office for a minimum of 1 day per week and further Team Days and Board Away Days. Travel and accommodation for working at our London office is at the job-holders own expense. Expenses incurred for SMK business outside London are covered by the charity.
The 15hours per week can be worked flexibly across Monday to Thursday, with a preference for them to include at least part of Monday and Tuesday to accommodate our weekly team meetings (Monday mornings) and Board Meetings which occur quarterly (Tuesday afternoons)..

The Role

Primary location of role

About you

Main responsibilities:
Support the development and delivery of national PR campaigns that promote organisational objectives.
Help manage the charity’s national press office/newsroom, proactively and reactively responding to media opportunities.

Build and nurture relationships with journalists across print, online and broadcast media.

Key Criteria:

The Southeast and East Asian Centre CIC (SEEAC) is a non-profit organisation registered as a community interest company that provides community-based support to members of the East and Southeast Asian (ESEA) communities, especially those underrepresented and marginalised migrants and refugees in the UK.
