We are looking for a motivated self-starter, and someone who is passionate about the work of CJA members. 

The Policy and Public Affairs Manager will monitor and map the criminal justice policy landscape, tracking developments across the system. They will engage with MPs, civil servants and key stakeholders, bringing evidence from our membership and the voices of those impacted directly by the criminal justice system to government to influence change.

The postholder will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and have demonstrated evidence of impact in policy and public affairs. They should be confident in building relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, be a collaborative and inspiring team player, show commitment to our values and share a passion for the CJA’s vision and mission.

Main responsibilities

Public Affairs (50% time)

• Develop and implement the CJA’s public affairs and influencing strategy to advance the CJA's objectives.
• Work with CJA members on influencing specific legislation, including campaigning around bills, writing amendments, and working with MPs and Peers to promote them within the legislative process.
• Stakeholder engagement (Parliament): Build and maintain relationships with key policy makers and parliamentarians through face-to-face meetings, providing briefings to MPs and Lords for Parliamentary debates, preparing written/oral questions, and attending Select Committees, APPGs, Parliamentary receptions and other relevant roundtables and events.
• Stakeholder engagement (other): Build and maintain relationships with other key stakeholders, including Police & Crime Commissioners, the Victims Commissioner, HM Inspectorates, civil servants, and other relevant bodies.

Policy and Research (40% time)

• Monitor policy and political debates and developments on criminal justice issues, horizon-scanning emerging policy issues, and where appropriate, disseminate and brief colleagues and CJA members.
• Maintain a repository of evidence briefings from CJA members.
• Identify proactive and reactive opportunities to promote and embed CJA and members recommendations and research.
• Produce high quality and influential policy briefs, reports, position papers, and responses to consultations, to advocate for changes in policy and practice put forward by CJA members.
• Lead on the monitoring of policy engagement and impact by using our evaluation tools and work with external evaluators as required to capture impact and utilise learning.
• Work with CJA members, people directly impacted by the justice system and other key stakeholders to harness and amplify their expertise and insights.
• Lead the co-ordination and establishment of member expert groups to inform our policy work.
• Develop opportunities for joint working with researchers / research organisations and manage that partnership work, including co-ordinating the CJA research symposium.

Other (10% time)

• Work with the Communications and Engagement Manager to respond to media and other communication opportunities to promote the CJA’s work and to contribute to national debate on criminal justice issues.
• Work with the CJA team to recommend and secure relevant speakers and presenters for CJA meetings and events. 
• Support the Communications and Engagement Manager to develop content for the website and other internal and external communications, such as blogs and articles.
• Contribute to the general administration and delivery of CJA programmes, events and overall objectives.
• Work with the Director to support the development of potential fundraising bids and reporting progress to funders.
• Conduct the duties of the job description in accordance with the operational policies of the CJA, including the Diversity and Adult Safeguarding Policies.
• Maintain good working relations with trustees, staff and other stakeholders.
• Maintain up to date and accurate records of contacts, engagement and stakeholder areas of expertise.
• Line manage any policy interns and / or other policy staff as required.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties as may be required. 

Harris Hill is supporting the wonderful charity AfriKids, to find maternity cover for their current Philanthropy Manager post, starting ASAP for 9 months, possiibly longer. 

This role can be full time, or 4dpw, working hybrid based, mostly remote, with 1 day per month in the London office.

Reporting to the Head of Fundraising, and part of a small but ambitious fundraising team, you will lead our relationships with many of AfriKids existing

The Volunteer Engagement Manager forms an integral part of our Retail management team, working closely with our shop management and HR teams. Join Dementia UK as a Challenge Events Manager and take the lead in delivering our DIY and open challenge events portfolio through impactful acquisition campaigns and outstanding supporter experiences.

We are looking for a hands-on Product Manager to lead the delivery and ongoing development of Assemblis - a hugely ambitious global platform to strengthen community-led decision-making - as it moves from a working prototype to a fully fledged product used by community groups worldwide.

The period from 2025 to 2026 presents a unique opportunity to scale the use and impact of Assemblis around the COP30 UN Climate Conference—set to take place in the Amazon at the end of 2025—by leveraging strategic relationships, including key support from the Brazilian government.

Assemblis will support communities across the world to run community gatherings, deliberate on shared challenges, and make collective decisions. The platform combines step-by-step guidance, storytelling features and data aggregation, enabling community groups to deliberate meaningfully, share their insights and connect with each other.  Our vision:

The Programmes Team is central to this mission. It is responsible for designing and running funding processes, managing a portfolio of delivery grants, and ensuring that the work supports actionable, robust research. The organisation uses programme funding not only to address evidence gaps but also as a way of raising the standard of research and evaluation across early intervention and children’s social care.

We are looking for a Senior Programmes Manager to join the team. This is a critical role that will shape and deliver funding calls, manage relationships with delivery partners, and support the commissioning of independent evaluations. It calls for excellent judgement, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strong communication and coordination skills.

You will have substantial experience in programme management or grant funding, ideally within a research, evaluation or evidence-generation context, or in areas aligned to the organisation's strategic priorities.

As Senior Programme Officer, I will support the Head of Commercial Insight & Development to ensure Mental Health UK delivers high quality projects and programmes that:

Strategy and planning

• Deliver the existing Community and Events strategy and maximise opportunities for income growth

• Deliver excellent supporter care to ensure supporters are motivated to achieve (and exceed) their fundraising targets, feel valued and build engagement with us 

• Key point of contact for high level event participants and community fundraisers via face-to-face meetings, phone calls and emails – providing timely and personalised support

• Support the Events and Community Officer with enquiries, applications and registrations for challenge events, ensuring high levels of conversion, and capturing relevant supporter data 

• Support the Head of Community and Engagement, or other teams within Fight for Sight with the successful delivery of key special events, including fundraising gala dinners or receptions, virtual events and mini conferences, and third party or established supporter events.

• When required, support the Events and Community Officer in managing guest lists, enquiries, and ticket sales for special/major donor events and receptions, delivering a seamless guest experience and timely follow-ups supporter care and relationship management

Marketing 

• Oversee all paid Facebook advertising activity for events, updating web listings, and utilising our networks

• Work with the Marketing & Communications team to raise awareness/increase recruitment across all activities, highlighting case studies and media stories 

• Develop and deliver effective and engaging content, and materials for supporters to increase recruitment, retention, and average fundraising amounts

• Oversee the creation and delivery of quarterly events e-newsletter, plus additional e-blasts

Managing information and reporting 

• Work with the Database Manger to ensure accurate records within our CRM system (ThankQ) and management of income from online and offline giving

• Carry out post-event evaluations, analysing supporter data help facilitate greater levels of income
