The Role:

SCI is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Press Officer to lead on its external and social media engagement strategy. 

You will lead SCI’s engagement with media outlets – including national papers, trade publications and broadcast – to increase our public profile, promote our work and build support for our campaign to accelerate the commercialisation of the UK’s science base. 

You will manage SCI’s press office on a day-to-day basis – scanning the media and political landscape to find opportunities for SCI to leverage its unique expertise and perspective as an organisation at the intersection of science and business.  Part of the role will include public affairs (20%) where you will also support SCI’s Head of External Affairs with political engagement as required – coordinating and facilitating SCI’s engagement with key politicians and political contacts. 

This role is suited to someone with at least 3 years of professional experience in communications, with an excellent news sense and a solid contact book of journalist contacts. 

Responsibilities:

• Closely monitor the news agenda, seeking out opportunities for SCI to comment on fast-moving events and raise the profile of our policy positions and significant research into the potential of the UK’s science base.

• Develop and build national, trade and regional media contacts, hosting journalists at SCI offices in Belgravia.

• Establish KPIs for SCI’s media engagement and monitor and demonstrate progress in meeting them.

• Work with the Social Media team to develop and draft content related to our policy priorities for our social media channels.

• Support the wider team on other ad hoc tasks such as political monitoring and public affairs support.

Knowledge, skills and experience required for this position

• A demonstrable passion for and understanding of science, its purpose for the economy and society, and communicating that to public and political audiences.

• Minimum of 3-5 years in a press office or media-related environment.

• Confident in working in a fast-paced environment and ability to be quick and agile in responding to news opportunities as they arise. 

• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills. Able to quickly establish rapport and build strong collaborative relationships. 

• Excellent time management skills: ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise workload.

• A strong team player who is also a self-starter who can work independently and confidently. An attitude that actively seeks continuous self-development and ways of doing things better.

IPSEA is the leading charity in the field of special educational needs and disability (SEND) law in England, and we provide free and independent legal advice and support to families of children and young people with SEND. IPSEA has a proven track record of successfully securing grants, and this is a new role designed to help strengthen and grow IPSEA’s income from charitable Trusts and Foundations. Listening Books is a UK charity providing an audiobook lending service to children and adults who cannot access printed books due to illness, disability, learning or mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression.

About the role

Listening Books provides membership across the UK, with a subsidised membership fee of £25 per year for individuals, and free membership to those who cannot afford to pay a fee. The service is provided directly to individuals, but also through working with hospices, children’s hospitals, care homes and schools.

The Membership and Marketing Assistant will work within the Membership and PR team to help expand awareness of the charity’s work and increase membership in line with the PR and Marketing Strategy.

We are looking for someone with a passion for books and accessibility, who will enjoy the opportunities and challenges of working in a small organisation. 

This role is mainly focused around maintaining our social media accounts, using these tools to grow and engage our membership, so you’ll enjoy creating appropriate content and interacting with people online. As this is a part time role (21 hours per week), you’ll need to manage and divide your time consistently and effectively to meet your recruitment and marketing objectives. We’ve got a great opportunity for a Senior Designer to join our talented and creative Digital and Content Team.

Working closely with the Creative Content Lead and Brand team, your role will be key to elevating our visual presence and impact across digital and print.

You’ll be a team-player and a seasoned pro at responding to briefs of all shapes and sizes, from producing visual and creative content for our social media channels and digital platforms, to designing print assets for events.

Your role will be to champion user-centred design and high creative standards, working with teams and the MS community to produce and create content that is impactful and accessible.

You will be adept at managing your own workloads and production timelines, as well as possessing strong organisational skills.

We are recruiting for two positions into the Workplace Projects department. These positions sit within their LCR (Lifecycle Replacement) and CRP (Client Requested Projects), supporting project managers by monitoring project progress and providing insightful management information to allow for accurate forecasting against budgets.

The responsibilities of the Assistant Finance Business Partner(s) will include:

• Producing management accounts for relevant budget holders and contributing to GPA's client budget process
• Partnering with the LCR and Net Zero / CRP programme managers and external partners to ensure that all expenditure has been accurately assessed based on project completion and integrity is applied
• That regular reconciliations and sampling of the project accounts are completed including timely project closure assessments
• Provide advice on financial treatment of project costs to ensure that all items are correctly assessed for capitalisation, and that the treatment of abortive costs and feasibility works are appropriately treated as RDEL, while being allocated to the correct projects
• Attendance at monthly stakeholder meetings to support the management of projects, supply chain and client relationships
• Supporting any client discussions as required to ensure recovery of billed amounts, keeping accrued income minimal and controlled
• Building a network internally with other finance teams to ensure smooth transition of data and knowledge between interlinked processes, and contributing as part of the wider finance team
• Preparing balance sheet reconciliations including accruals and prepayments
• Take ownership of key financial processes, including the preparation and processing of journals, while supporting both internal and external audits.
• Play a proactive role in facilitating forecasting and reporting activities, and use your analytical skills to identify trends, risks, and opportunities within the financial data to inform strategic decision-making.

Key Skills & Experience 

• CCAB or equivalent part-qualified or finalist-level candidates required, full qualification desirable.
• Experience in facilities management or estates-related roles (e.g. property management, construction projects) is preferable, however candidates from other backgrounds will be considered.
• Understanding of project accounting fundamentals is essential; experience with subcontractors or procurement for facilities management is advantageous.
