We are looking for a permanent and full-time member of staff to help develop and manage RSTMH’s profile within tropical medicine and global health. We need a passionate and creative communicator who can play a key role in meeting our communications objectives. This role is office-based in central London, with the option to work from home on Mondays.

RSTMH is a membership society formed in 1907, with around 1,800 members and Fellows in over 100 countries. We work to improve tropical medicine and global health by enabling and promoting research, sharing knowledge and convening networks through our members and Fellows and beyond. The Communications Manager will have the opportunity to develop and enhance RSTMH’s reputation as a credible and trusted voice in tropical medicine and global health.

This is a wide-ranging and exciting role. You will lead on implementing the organisation’s communications strategy, working with the leadership team to ensure it meets the aims of the wider RSTMH strategy. You’ll maintain and further develop the website and social media platforms, build links with media contacts, and source, commission and develop content. You’ll manage relationships with key suppliers, including website developers, strategic partners, digital media and creative agencies. You’ll also be responsible for delivering RSTMH’s newsletters to our members and Fellows, and global network of supporters.

We’re looking for someone ambitious and solutions-focused with a passion for communications to deliver creative and innovative content. You’ll have the ability to engage people in the technical areas of our work as well as the nature of the societal problems and context we’re seeking to improve, and establish analytical systems to monitor our progress.

The Role

• Implement RSTMH’s communications strategy, in line with the wider organisational goals
• Full ownership of the website, including content updating and monitoring for consistency and currency, managing any development work and integration with other systems
• Manage social media channels for RSTMH, and develop strategies to engage wider networks
• Accountable for our joint venture website, grow: including developing a strategy for updating and maintaining the listings and income generation through advertising and/or sponsored posts
• Commission, source, write, edit and proofread engaging and relevant content for the website and social media channels, providing editorial support as required and building a network of expert contributors
• Track engagement across media channels and email marketing, and produce monthly reports for leadership team showing activity
• Ensure RSTMH’s brand and editorial guidelines are maintained in all of the Society’s work, including all communications by the team
• Full responsibility for fortnightly newsletters for RSTMH members and Fellows, and monthly newsletters for non-members with strategies to convert non-members
• Create and maintain Society level communications calendar
• Monitor developments in global health and tropical medicine, especially in order to inform policy work with our Policy and Advocacy Committee
• Establish a network of media contacts for the Society to promote its work, signpost experts, and raise its own profile
• Represent RSTMH externally with key partners, at relevant conferences and industry events
• Support on income-generating activities across RSTMH, particularly new memberships, conversions, journal promotion and event marketing
• Establish and maintain systems to report and evaluate RSTMH’s digital platforms and activities
• Develop communications plan for all areas of RSTMH, working with department managers to execute
• Support key RSTMH spokespeople, including the Chief Executive, with media briefings, press releases and key messaging
• Fully manage the communications budget
• Responsibility for promotional materials including flyers, event signage, merchandise and handouts

Person Specification

Essential experience

• 5 years’ experience within a digital communication role
• 3 years’ experience developing and maintaining websites and social media for a campaign, cause or organisation
• Proven experience working in an editorial capacity, developing compelling copy for online audiences, with a varied portfolio of written work
• Experience of digital content creation, commissioning and management
• Proficiency in HTML newsletter creation, working to tight deadlines, collaborating with other departments, and using mail clients
• Experience of managing suppliers, partners and contributors
• Familiarity with design software for creating digital assets, such as Canva
• Knowledge of CRM databases
• Experience with digital advertising and promoted social media posts, analysing trends, reviewing efficacy, and adjusting campaigns in real time
• An understanding of the academic and research communities

Main duties

• Proactively manage the CEO’s diary, inbox and meeting schedule to ensure strategic alignment and use of time

What the job involves

Join our Customer Engagement and Experience team as our Data Imports Manager, where every day you’ll be helping to make sure our supporters’ donations and personal details are handled with care and accuracy.

You’ll manage the Data Import Team, who process around £30 million in donations each year and safely manage details for about 180,000 new supporters. It’s a role right at the heart of our operations, keeping our systems running smoothly and ensuring supporter data is looked after properly.

Day to day, you’ll manage the flow of financial and personal data into our CRM, whether it’s from third-party suppliers or our website. You’ll own the use of our automation tools to ensure data imports are efficient and accurate.

You’ll support your team, respond to data queries, and as the product owner of our bespoke ETL tool work closely with developers, designers and data teams to deliver high quality solutions. There’s plenty of scope to spot ways to improve how we work, reducing manual processes and making things quicker and smarter without compromising quality.

Alongside this, you’ll produce regular reports to keep things on track, such as weekly/monthly reconciliation reports for Finance, and oversee tasks such as creating our Gift Aid claim. You’ll also play a key part in developing and monitoring KPIs, making sure we’re hitting our goals and delivering a reliable, accurate service.

Crucially, you already have senior level experience of public relations/press management, ideally gained at a charity/think tank/political party/PR agency. As a result, you understand the inner workings of the media, what makes a story and how to influence the ever-changing news agenda.

You have extensive knowledge of different media channels and tactics, and your communication and relationship building skills are second to none. You’re confident influencing and negotiating at all levels – including with external partners, including handling crisis communications with diligence and sensitivity.

Role Summary

We are looking for a passionate and effective Autistic Lived Experience Trainer to support us to deliver an exciting new programme of work. We have been commissioned by an NHS organisation to deliver and support the roll out of autism-informed care training to all staff working in their mental health inpatient settings. This programme of work will run for 9 months, and will include the delivery of various half day and full day autism-informed training sessions both in-person and online. We will also be working closely with Experts by Experience to become skilled and confident in delivery of this training to support the organisational sustainability of this knowledge. The programme of work will also embed an evaluation of the training to demonstrate learning and impact.

The Autistic Lived Experience Trainer will be working closely alongside our Lived Experience Lead to deliver all aspects of the programme, with support from our wider staff team.

Role Description

• Co-facilitate training sessions both online and in-person to staff from various professions and in various roles across mental health in-patient settings.
• Deliver pre-prepared content and facilitate reflective conversations.
• Monitor feedback and adjust content and delivery as necessary.
• Collect and analyse feedback data, both qualitative and quantitative.
• Support Experts by Experience to become confident with delivery of content.
• Ensure training content remains relevant and includes the latest research, alongside lived experience insight.
• Use own lived experience insight to supplement content and support reflection and catalyse change.
• Liaise with NHS colleagues to support training session logistics
• To represent Neurodiverse Connection nationally, regionally and locally as appropriate and to promote the work that we do.
• To work alongside the Neurodiverse Connection staff and associate team to ensure delivery of high-quality work.
• Frequent travel within Norfolk and Suffolk to deliver in person training.
• Some national travel may also be required to support training and delivery on other projects.

The Internal Auditor role will undertake internal audit assignments, develop country-specific internal audit processes or thematic internal audits and work with our London and global teams to support external audit processes in countries of operation, oversee the global audit register, and with teams across the organisation advance effective financial management performance across the organisation

Job purpose:

Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Director of Finance and Operations, the post holder will undertake internal audit assignments and compliance reviews aimed at improving Saferworld’s internal systems and processes. The post-holder will also support the development of financial controls and build the capacity of finance and operational teams to implement them effectively.

The role requires a high level of initiative; proven skills and experience in project management; experience working collaboratively with others to achieve our vision; and strong communication and problem-solving skills.

The post-holder will have a successful track record in designing and leading internal audit processes and strengthening control systems, preferable at a complex organisation with multiple country offices/business units.  Additional experience working with offices/partners in/on conflict affected contexts is highly desirable.

Roles and responsibilities: 

Plan and carry out internal audits

• Draw up a yearly Internal Audit Plan based on key risks and an assessment of audit needs and agree it with the CEO in consultation with the Director of Finance and Operations and Director of Policy and Programmes.
• Carry out internal audit assignments across departments, projects, and programmes to assess compliance with financial policies, donor agreements, and statutory regulations, including negotiating terms of reference with relevant system/area owners, preparing reports, presenting the findings to the Senior Leadership, and following up on recommendations.
• Review financial transactions and accounting records, including data from SUN, to ensure accuracy and integrity.
• Support necessary pre-audit preparation work related to external audits (both statutory and project audit) and assist the teams in ensuring smooth audit. 
• Maintain the organisation’s register of grant and project audits, ensuring that audit findings recommendations are clearly documented and shared.
• Monitor the implementation of these recommendations and follow up on corrective actions to ensure timely and effective solution.
• Carry out special investigations, as required by the Saferworld CEO or Senior Operational Team (SOT). 

Strengthening organisational systems and risk controls

• Produce an annual review of the overall effectiveness of Saferworld’s systems of internal control and make recommendations and arrangements for identification and management of risks and produce an annual plan to address these areas.

Youth Engagement Officer  

Location: Hybrid. Expected to be in our London office in Victoria at least one day per week. You can be remote every other day or come into the office. Your office days are flexible and can be agreed with your manager, other than for monthly team days where you must be in person. Our Youth Steering Group design and run the annual Fair Education Youth Summit. The event is led by young people for young people and brings together young changemakers from across our membership and the wider education and youth sectors to develop their youth leadership skills, collaborate on campaigns, and engage directly with decision makers. You will support the young people to design sessions, secure speakers, embed past feedback and plan the event structure. You will also support with the event logistics, guestlist management, participant communications and collecting attendee feedback.

Support our members to improve their youth engagement practice  

Our Youth Engagement Working Group supports FEA members and other sector organsiations to increase and improve their own youth engagement practice. You will support the management of logistics, promote the workshops, and communicate with working group members. The Digital Content Manager will support the organisation by devising and delivering an effective online content strategies and producing high-quality, creative written and audio-visual content that aligns with the charity’s goals, target audience and brand identity.

• Lead the development of written and audiovisual content for our digital platforms
• Develop and implement a content strategy for our digital channels (working closely with the social media team) and a set of guiding principles for producing engaging, accessible, search optimised content across all channels
• Create written, graphic and audiovisual digital content, and devise creative content ideas to support campaigns, appeals and organisational priorities
• Provide video editing services to the organisation as required
• Manage ongoing relationships with agencies and/or freelancers to deliver digital content
• Work with the Digital Officer and Senior Digital Manager to ensure all new content is optimised for SEO
• Work with the case study manager to produce story-based content which can be used to give a case for support across our website and social channels
• Contribute to the development and ongoing maintenance of content for a bereavement self-help product/platform and the bereavement content on our website
• Explore new and engaging ways to tell our story through animation, audio, written content and imagery
• Support with video and other content production for internal use, where needed

About You

• Ability to create impactful and compelling online content (written copy, graphics, video and audio)
• Excellent written English and proofreading skills
• Excellent understanding of best practice when writing for online platforms, including a good understanding of accessibility requirements for digital communications
• Excellent video production skills, from conception through to editing and resizing for different platforms
• Experience using Canva, Photoshop or other design software to create graphics
• A creative flair and ability to contribute new ideas for content to projects and campaigns
• Experience of using content management systems (CMS) – we use Wagtail
• Experience in developing and executing content strategies
• Experience working and collaborating with digital agencies and other external suppliers, including procurement and contracting processes
• Strong understanding of SEO best practices and principles and keyword research
• Understanding of user journeys and IA and the role quality content plays in these
• Understanding of best practices with digital communications to supporters and service users
• Experienced in collecting insights using various tools (including GA4 and Search Console) to understand how content is performing
• Project management experience
• Experience in managing agencies and/or freelancers
• Able to work independently and to deadlines
• Able to work as part of multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver shared visions and objectives
• Highly organised and able to prioritise a busy workload with changing priorities

Desirable Requirements

• Experience of working in the not for profit, bereavement or health sector
• Knowledge and experience in social media content creation

We’re recruiting for a Senior Individual Giving Officer to join our team, on a fixed term maternity cover contract, for approx 12 months.

We proudly raise money to help improve life for people with Parkinson’s and the people in their lives. Our work helps to fund everything from promising research, to providing personalised support for everyone with Parkinson’s, to campaigns fighting for better support for people with Parkinson’s and their loved ones.

About the role 

You’ll be working on direct marketing campaigns and leading a strategic area of fundraising, to engage and inspire people to donate. And you’ll make it as easy as possible for supporters to choose the way they want to give. You’ll be part of a team that champions and supports each other, and is innovative in a changing fundraising and external environment to achieve our annual income target of over £5 million. 

Focusing on high volume donations under £1000, we use analysis and insight to deliver a variety of direct marketing activities that recruit new donors and ensure everyone can see the impact of their kind contribution. 

What you’ll do:

• Support the Individual Giving Manager to help set strategic objectives, monitor income and expenditure and use database analysis to inform the individual giving programme.

• Plan, create and manage direct marketing campaigns, both online and offline, and lead a strategic area of fundraising to secure donations

• Work with the Individual Giving Officers, delegating work and championing their development. There may also be an opportunity to line manage an Individual Giving Officer.

• Monitor income and expenditure budgets and use database analysis to inform and improve the direct marketing programme.

• Ensure that the direct marketing programme is integrated into Fundraising & Experience  Directorate activities and supports the overall Parkinson’s UK strategic plan

• Use digital tools to manage email and online communications.

What you’ll bring:

• Strong experience of managing Individual Giving or direct marketing activity with substantial income and expenditure budgets.

• Proven success in donor or customer acquisition and retention through direct marketing.

• Substantial experience of creating engaging and inspiring online materials in support of direct marketing campaigns. 

• Strong experience of using CMS and email platforms, ideally Marketing Cloud.

• Experience working with PPC, digital ads and social media to acquire donors
