We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Legal Counsel to join our dynamic team. The Legal Counsel is responsible for advising and challenging senior colleagues, ensuring the provision of sound legal advice and guidance. They will oversee legal compliance, manage legal risk mitigation efforts and take ownership of legal processes to enable the smooth operation of our organisation.
This position will take accountability for developing and implementing the charity’s legal strategies, ensuring that legal risks are proactively identified, managed, and mitigated effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance and Regulations
· Take ownership of monitoring and advising on changes in laws and regulations relevant to the charity, including but not limited to charity law, data protection, health and safety.
· Oversee the development and execution of strategies to address legal risks, obligations, and opportunities.
· Ensure compliance with applicable legal frameworks, to include the creation and maintenance of a legal register.
· Proactively identify, monitor, address, and report on legal (and where appropriate other business) issues of significance.
Contracts
· Take responsibility for drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of contracts including, but not limited to commercial, research, collaboration contracts and service agreements, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and mitigating potential risks.
· Oversee the provision of timely and pragmatic legal advice on matters of contract law, intellectual property rights, employment law, governance, and other relevant areas, ensuring alignment with our organisational goals.
Litigation & Dispute Resolution
· Take ownership of managing legal disputes, litigation, and other legal matters, ensuring effective collaboration with external counsel to safeguard the charity’s interests.
· Identify and address legal risks proactively and escalate more complex legal matters when appropriate.
· Provide specialist advice to ensure foreseeable legal risks are effectively identified.
Stakeholder Engagement & Training
· Be accountable for establishing and maintaining effective business relationships with internal and external stakeholders, overseeing the integration of legal input into decision-making processes.
· Take responsibility for developing and delivering training sessions and workshops to ensure employees and stakeholders are well informed on legal matters, contracts, policies, and procedures.
· Establish and maintain effective business relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
What we are looking for:
· Qualified solicitor or barrister in the UK, with a current practicing certificate, sound legal training in a well-regarded legal practice, and relevant post-qualification experience in-house and / or in private practice.
· Strong knowledge of contract law, and the drafting of agreements, negotiating contracts and developing compliance.
· Strong knowledge and understanding of UK legal frameworks, regulations, and compliance requirements applicable to charitable organisations.
· Ability to translate complex technical information into clear and accessible advice to non-legal stakeholders.
· Extensive demonstrable post-qualification experience.
· Solution focused, pragmatic, and able to apply legal knowledge and good practice in day-to-day work.
· Able and prepared to quickly develop a good understanding of new legal areas and issues which affect the organisation.
· Able to recognise when more complex and serious issues arise and escalate appropriately.
· Proven ability to independently lead initiatives, oversee multiple priorities and ensure deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment.
· Proficiency in MS Office 365 and other relevant software applications.
· Proven drafting, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
· Strong ethical standards and a high level of personal integrity.
· Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to assess risks, develop effective solutions, and to exercise good judgement / initiative in a variety of situations.

Our Women, Peace and Security (WPS) team sits at the heart of this mission. We work alongside activists, partners, and policymakers to push for feminist approaches that put women’s protection, leadership, resilience, and equality front and centre. We are looking for a Senior Research and Policy Specialist to bring intellectual rigour, feminist principles, and creative energy to this work. This is a chance to lead research and policy development that directly shapes how governments, NGOs, and global actors approach humanitarian reform and the WPS agenda. You’ll design and deliver research initiatives, strengthen our positioning in critical debates, and ensure our policy work is grounded in feminist analysis and lived realities.
In this role, you’ll lead high-quality, feminist policy and research initiatives rooted in ActionAid’s global programmes. You’ll collaborate across ActionAid UK, the international federation, and with partners worldwide to influence key decision-makers, from Whitehall to the UN. You’ll also act as a voice for ActionAid in public forums and the media, making sure the issues that matter to women and girls in crisis situations are impossible to ignore. The role calls for someone with deep knowledge of gender equality and humanitarian systems, experience in policy analysis and research, and strong networks within the women’s rights and humanitarian communities. You’ll be comfortable navigating both UK and international policy spaces, and you’ll bring excellent communication skills that make complex issues clear and compelling.
This is more than a policy role. It’s an opportunity to join a team committed to feminist leadership, decolonisation, and anti-racist principles – values that shape not only what we do but how we do it. It’s a chance to stand with women’s rights movements and make sure their voices are heard in the rooms where decisions are made.
You’ll work across the humanitarian and WPS space, developing influencing strategies, shaping UK and global policy agendas, and supporting feminist movement-led change. You will work closely with the Director of Communications to make our research engaging and usable – sparking conversations, inspiring action and strengthening movements like our Open and Trusting network. The Susanna Wesley Foundation is looking for a theologically literate researcher who has experience in conducting research and evaluations in faith-related contexts to join our team at an exciting time of growth.

As Scientific and Patient Information Manager, you will work in the Medical Education and Scientific Engagement Team at Myeloma Patients Europe (MPE). Under the Department Head and MPE Leadership Team, collaborating with the Head of Communications, you will oversee the following projects and activities:
Patient information and communications management (Approx. 55%)
A key role of MPE is providing up-to-date, comprehensive, and patient friendly educational materials and tools for our members and the patient community, as well as communicating about scientific advances in myeloma and AL amyloidosis. This role will be responsible for working across MPE to develop a patient information and educational plan and develop and deliver resources. MPE expects the appointed person to:
- Perform efficient scientific watch (monitoring advancements in research and clinical development)
- Lead the development and implementation of a patient information plan based on member and patient needs, scientific advances and cross-department projects
- Monitor the readership and usage of MPE patient information materials, incorporating website user analytics and feedback from users to increase the reach and impact of the department

This role will be responsible for the management, improvement, and promotion of this core MPE programme, with a focus on ensuring the tool and content is patient friendly, including:
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate database of all industry and academic recruiting myeloma, AL amyloidosis, MGUS, and smouldering myeloma clinical trials in Europe
- Write and format lay / patient friendly clinical trial descriptions for the Navigator website
- Liaise with industry and academic clinical trial sponsors, clinical trial sites, and other stakeholders to maintain database up-to-date
- Liaise with web developers to manage the Navigator website, make enhancements, and fix technical issues
- Oversee implementation of translated materials in multiple languages

Our frontline team recovers thousands in unpaid wages and helps hundreds of people to secure their immigration status every year. But we know that to create lasting change, we can't just fix individual problems—we have to change the systems that cause them. This is where you come in.
We are looking for a Policy Manager to continue leading our ambitious policy influencing work. This is a senior role, ideal for someone with substantial public affairs experience, a deep understanding of how immigration and employment laws can perpetuate exploitation, and a genuine passion for social justice.

This is possible thanks to our passionate systems-change team, who bring together expertise in strategic communications, data analysis, and research, as well as our wider legal team. The Role
As Policy Manager you will be the driving force of our policy influencing agenda. We count on you to develop nuanced recommendations, grounded in high-quality research, and to work with policy makers to raise awareness, secure buy-in, and achieve real-world change. Reporting directly to the CEO, your main responsibilities will include:

Monitoring policy developments at the intersection of employment and work-migration. In the short term, in employment you will keep an eye on the Fair Work Agency and the implementation of the government’s Make Work Pay agenda. In immigration, you will monitor developments concerning high-risk employer-sponsored visas.

Producing nuanced analyses that spell out the implications of policy developments in a clear and accessible manner, and conclude with actionable recommendations.

Influencing decision-makers, including government, parliamentarians, parliamentary committees and APPGs. This includes evidence submissions, 1:1s, and working in multi-stakeholder environments.

Contributing to research publications that document the systemic drivers of migrant worker exploitation, and draw on best practice to give policy makers options for change.

Contributing to the charity’s strategy, and taking up line management duties as required.
About you
This is a senior role for a candidate who can hit the ground running. We would love to hear from you if you have:

Good knowledge of UK immigration and/or employment justice, evidenced by academic credentials and/or professional experience.

At least three years of professional experience in policy influencing. We will consider less if you can demonstrate other relevant experience (i.e. in research or legal advice).

Excellent analytical and research skills, evidenced by a track-record of publications (such as policy analyses, reports etc).

Excellent communication skills, including an ability to work effectively in a multi-stakeholder environment.

A real sense of purpose, commitment to our mission, and appreciation for the power of team work.
