The role will work closely with the Director of Research Services and Head of Governance to support the Boards and Committees through the provision of high-level secretariat support (including for scientific meetings) and project management support where you will also lead on identifying and driving improved ways of working.

What you’ll be doing

• Preparing annual meeting business planners in consultation with Board and Committee Chairs.
• Scheduling meeting dates and overseeing pattern of governance meetings working with line managers
• Preparing meeting agendas
• Collating and issuing papers for meetings, commissioning items, reviewing drafts, formatting and issuing papers
• Drafting papers for meetings where required
• Preparing briefing notes for chairs
• Producing accurate and timely minutes of meetings including those with specialist scientific interest.
• Tracking and following up of actions raised at meetings

Working pattern

This is a hybrid full-time role (typically 2 days on-site), 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday based in SW London with occasional travel to another office (around once a month).  The other office is about 20  minutes from Clapham or London Bridge.

Flexible working hours are available but please note that you would need to ensure you are on-site on time for any meetings. 

About you

My client requires someone who has the experience of supporting senior management on governance and organisational matters, ideally in a science-based working environment as you will be taking minutes from science meetings, so could prove challenging without that understanding.

You will need to be a confident minute taker and offer previous governance and committee support experience.

To work for this world-leading organisation, you will be to have good interpersonal skills and have good written communication to be able to draft accurate and succinct emails and papers.

• Manage grant delivery, including assessment, due diligence, contracting, monitoring, and closure, across our funding rounds.

Your experience:

• Experienced in assessing, managing, monitoring and evaluating grant applications or similar roles related to charitable grant making. 
• Understanding of not-for-profit structures, including charities, social enterprises and other not-for-profit organisations. 
• Experience in writing a variety of styles including academic, reports, and impact.
• Demonstrable ability to prioritise when faced with a continuous flow of applications and variable work load.
• Experience of effectively engaging at all levels within applicant organisations leading discussions where necessary. 
• Good with numbers, and the ability to understand and interpret budgets and accounts.
• Able to engage with grant applicants and build an ongoing positive rapport. 
• Strong IT skills including experience working with the MS Office suite. 
• Experience within the disability sector and/or direct or indirect experience of the mobility challenges faced by disabled people would be advantageous, but not essential.

Role Description

BASIC is seeking a motivated and dynamic leader to serve as the Head of the Nuclear for Good movement. This individual will be expected to lead the Nuclear for Good Steering Group to grow the movement’s membership, co-develop movement strategy, develop its funding, and supercharge its impact.

This high-impact role offers the opportunity to manage a positive and dynamic initiative seeking to advance multiple interlinked goals, including: sustainable development; food and water security, sustainable energy futures, and nuclear non-proliferation. The successful candidate will bring a strong record of policy engagement, project delivery, and leadership in international development, international security, or nuclear governance.

The successful candidate will oversee the project’s delivery across multiple outputs, working closely with internal and external partners, including international consultancies, technical experts, and UK government stakeholders.

The Head of Nuclear for Good is expected to be an enthusiastic professional with outstanding communication skills in the field of nuclear policy. Responsible for overseeing a set of specific tasks, they must demonstrate a clear understanding of and alignment with the movement's overall objectives, strategies and goals. The position will report to the Programme Manager of  the Non-proliferation and Disarmament Programme.

Taking charge of the Nuclear for Good movement, the appointed individual will navigate the entire project cycle, from generating fundraising ideas to developing them further and building knowledge of funding relationships. 

The Head of Nuclear for Good must be a strong communicator, with the ability to translate relevant scientific and technical ideas to a general audience. This skillset must be coupled with a proven ability to build community, conduct high-level networking and outreach activities. The ideal candidate is an established public figure with a specialisation in nuclear science and technology issues as well as, ideally, some knowledge of the peaceful uses pillar of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

1. Project Delivery

The Head of the Nuclear for Good movement will need to deliver a set of key deliverables during the contract, to advance the project’s international reach and influence.

To advise the existing Steering Group, the successful candidate will need to start by appointing an Advisory Group to the project, comprising experts with diverse nuclear-related specialities to support the movement. The Advisory Group will meet quarterly.

The main thrust of the role is geared around an ambitious outreach and community-building strategy. The successful candidate will recruit new member organisations, individuals, and influencers to the movement – exchanging ideas and further developing Nuclear for Good’s strategy and goals as the movement evolves. As a multi-stakeholder movement, the pool of potential members could include policy experts, academics, private sector technologists, nuclear regulators, and international development professionals.

The successful candidate will attend a range of key conferences related to the peaceful uses of nuclear energy, non-proliferation, and sustainable development. These include the UN General Assembly First Committee, the IAEA General Conference, and the UN Climate Conference. Participation in these events will help raise awareness of the project among relevant stakeholders. This will include organising a side event at the IAEA General Conference. This activity will not only promote the movement to new audiences, but also demonstrate our support for the IAEA and its flagship initiatives, while inviting attendees to apply to join the Nuclear for Good network.

2. Stakeholder Engagement

Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to:

• Lead monthly Steering Group meetings. 

• Maintain active communication with UK government stakeholders.

• Oversee delivery by subcontracted partners.

• Ensure contractual obligations are met and outputs are delivered to agreed standards.

3. Fundraising

Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to:

• Develop a project, by independently and confidently scoping funding opportunities.

• Liaise with the Programme Manager on funding priorities and opportunities.

• Manage projects with minimal day-to-day manager input.

• Develop new and existing relationships with funders.

• Write and edit funding applications.

4. Communications

Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to:

• Collaborate with various stakeholders including international partners to build strong funding relationships.

• Facilitate dialogue and cooperation among diverse stakeholders.

• Promote our / their work confidently and internationally. 

• Skillfully use online social media platforms, and press contacts.

5. Office support

Applicants will need to be able to support the running of the organisation and colleagues with a range of administrative tasks wherever required.

Essential:  Educated to Master’s level – or demonstrate the equivalent in work experience

Essential:  7+ years of work experience in a think tank, research institute, NGO, foundation or government working on international security issues

Essential:  Passion and commitment to our organisational mission of promoting dialogue to advance global security

Essential:  Familiarity with issues relating to civil nuclear energy, strategic stability, or dual-use technologies is essential.

About the role

The Senegal team are looking to recruit a Programme Manager Eye Health to oversee the development, co-ordination and management of Sightsavers programmes in Senegal.  The postholder will ensure alignment with Sightsavers policies and preferred programme approaches (in particular the principles of scalable demonstration approaches) working closely with the Country Director to maintain in- house quality standards on the delivery of programmes.

If you have first class strategic programme development knowledge and experience within international development and are looking for a great opportunity this might be the role to catch your attention. Coupled with technical knowledge on eye care health in Senegal we would love to hear from you.

Key accountabilities but not limited to:

• Lead the development of country level action and implementation plans for eye health as agreed with the Global Technical Lead, Eye Health and Country Director, Senegal.
• Provision of effective management, coordination, technical advice and resource allocation necessary to support eye health in Senegal
• Deliver effective monitoring and support the evaluation of all aspects of the Eye Health programme, applying learning systematically to drive continuous improvement in projects and programmes
• Undertake regular monitoring visits to programme sites and to partners.
• Assist in preparing Budgets for projects and monitor expenditure against these, advising the Country Director on financial trends for example.
• Work with the finance team to ensure proper partner accountability for Sightsavers funds.
• Identify new strategic partnerships within the country to help develop Sightsavers eye health programme.
• Participate in all PR activities of the Country Office and represent Sightsavers at different forums in collaboration with the Country Director.

Essential knowledge and skills

• Degree in Medicine, preferably an Ophthalmologist or Postgraduate Degree in Public Health, Sciences or related disciplines.
• A proven track record within Programme/Project management, ideally in an INGO environment at PM level.
• Significant experience of strategic programme development.
• Technical knowledge on eye health in Senegal.
• Experience of managing an eye care programme in Africa, ideally in an international context.
• Strong advocacy, monitoring evaluation and research and logistics and supply chain management
• Current and ongoing right to work in Senegal
• Able to travel as and when required

About the Role

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Resources, the Deputy Finance Director will work at the heart of the V&A’s strategic and operational decision-making. The postholder will provide leadership to the Finance and Procurement teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality financial management, business partnering, statutory reporting, and compliance across a complex, multi-site organisation.

Key priorities will include:

• Developing and delivering a multi-year strategic financial model to strengthen resilience and support commercial growth.
•  Leading the annual business planning cycle and aligning financial plans to strategic objectives.
• Enhancing financial systems, reporting, and processes to improve decision-making and efficiency.
• Championing strong financial controls, risk management, and compliance across the organisation.
• Overseeing statutory accounts, external reporting, and technical advice on VAT, Gift Aid, and other tax matters.
• Acting as a trusted adviser to senior leaders, the Board, and external stakeholders.

About You

The V&A is looking for a qualified CCAB accountant (or equivalent) with experience leading finance teams in large, complex organisations. You will have:

Job description and person specification

This is an exciting and varied role that encompasses all aspects of our fundraising activity and will support the development of relationships with our individual donors, Trusts and Foundations, Corporate Partners, and Community/Faith Groups. Our ideal candidate will have experience of working in a charity or other related organisation, in a fundraising and / or marketing team, and will bring relevant, transferable experience to apply to this role. Key Responsibilities

• Support the development of our individual giving programme including the planning and delivery of fundraising appeals and campaigns.
• Ensure donations are promptly acknowledged and recorded on our fundraising database, Donorfy.
• Lead the development of our use of Donorfy to record and report on our fundraising data, and manage donor relationships.
• Support the planning and delivery of key fundraising events including our annual Gala fundraising event.
• Conduct periodic and ad hoc prospect research on previous and prospective funders and identify new funding opportunities under the supervision of the Trusts and Foundations Grants lead.
• Support the Trusts and Foundations Grants lead to maintain a calendar of deadlines and reporting requirements
• Coordinate periodic mail outs to Trusts and Foundations in the small/general category.
• Support the cultivation and stewardship of corporate supporters under the direction of the Head of Fundraising.
• Assist with developing corporate partnership proposals, and other communications including periodic newsletters and social
• Help coordinate volunteer opportunities for our corporate partners
• Provide general admin support for corporate partners and corporate enquiries.

The role

This is a key role in ensuring the smooth operational delivery of a wide range of training programmes and workshops, both online and in person, for early career researchers across the UK and internationally.

We are looking for an effective communicator and team player, confident in liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including training providers, course participants, network members, and partner organisations. You will take responsibility for coordinating event logistics, maintaining participant records, preparing communications, and ensuring that training materials are kept up to date and accessible.

A core duty of the role will be supporting the delivery of engaging and inclusive training opportunities, helping to identify and address the diverse needs of participants. This will involve working collaboratively to improve processes, providing feedback on participant experiences, and contributing to the development of new training initiatives.
