Job purpose

The Clinical Lead will play a pivotal role in leading and developing Action for ME’s Healthcare Services with the Operations Director, ensuring the highest standards of clinical care for individuals affected by Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME). The postholder will be responsible for clinical oversight, service development, and leadership, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to enhance outcomes for children and adults with ME and will be the CQC Registered Manager for the service.

At present, the Healthcare Services is a small team with two doctors (GPs) and two physios. Our counsellors are overseen by a Counselling Lead Supervisor and our multi-faith Chaplains are supported by our Lead Chaplain.

We are keen to develop and expand our services, building on the small amount of spot purchasing from local commissioning boards and exploring a diagnosing and prescribing offer. We are also keen to explore the potential of increasing the range of disciplines offered within the team. You will play a key role in driving the strategy for our Healthcare Services with the Director of Operations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical support and expertise to Action for ME's Healthcare Services, ensuring evidence-based, person-centred care.

• Act as Registered Manager for CQC (Care Quality Commission) purposes and ensure that the service meets all required standards.

• Lead the development and implementation of clinical policies, protocols, and best practices in line with national guidelines and regulatory requirements.

• Supervise and support healthcare professionals within the service, offering guidance, mentorship, and training.

• Designated safeguarding officer for Healthcare Services.

• Collaborate with external stakeholders, including NHS services, researchers, and others, to enhance healthcare provision for people with ME.

• Ensure the service complies with regulatory and safeguarding standards, including CQC requirements where applicable.

• Monitor and evaluate service delivery, using data-driven insights to improve clinical outcomes and patient experience.

• Provide expert advice on complex cases, supporting staff with clinical decision-making.

• Represent Action for M.E. at external forums, conferences, and policy discussions.

Person specification

• A registered healthcare professional (e.g., doctor, nurse, physiotherapist, or occupational therapist) with active professional registration (GMC, NMC, HCPC or equivalent) OR an experienced commissioner of healthcare services with experience of quality assurance, safeguarding and compliance.

• Extensive clinical experience in chronic illness management OR sound understanding of clinical practice, ideally with expertise in ME or related conditions and a clear understanding of the challenges faced by people with ME.

• An understanding of Care Quality Commission regulatory requirements.

• Proven leadership experience in a healthcare setting, including team management and service development.

• Strong understanding of evidence-based practice and clinical governance.

• A sound understanding and experience of safeguarding children/young people and vulnerable adults.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with patients, carers, and healthcare professionals.

This role will play a leadership role in delivering our ambitious policy influencing programme, helping to shape and implement influencing plans to bring about the changes needed to reduce, prevent and eventually end the need for food banks in the UK.  It will provide management and oversight to some of our strategic projects.

Role responsibilities

· Developing and implementing Trussell’s influencing strategy

Working with teams across the organisation to ensure key groups, including our community of food banks, corporate partners, churches and church-related organisations have a clear role in our policy influencing approach.

· Planning and delivering impactful public affairs activity

Ensuring systems are in place to help plan, monitor and evaluate public affairs activity and maximise opportunities to engage with key audiences, including Parliamentarians, advisers, and UK Government Ministers; and support close working with colleagues in all UK nations and regions.  Managing the development and delivery of public affairs activity to support high profile influencing campaigns.

· Building and managing strong relationships with key external stakeholders

Developing relationships, partnerships and networks to help raise the profile, credibility and influence of Trussell and our policy positions, particularly in the UK Parliament.  Representing Trussell and promoting the organisation’s policy position to key audiences, including in meetings and events with Parliamentarians.

· Developing public affairs support to the food bank community

Working closely with a small team of Network Policy and Research Officers and the Organising and Local Mobilisation team to support our community of food banks to build and maintain strong relationships with their local MPs.  Ensuring public affairs activity is well aligned to campaign strategies involving the food bank network.

· Embedding participatory approaches across our public affairs and wider influencing activity

Supporting further development of a participatory approach to policy influencing to ensure it is rooted in the lived experience of individuals affected by poverty.  This includes ensuring an ethical approach in line with our values.

· Providing advice and line management

Have line management responsibility for individuals within the team, providing pastoral and development guidance along with task management on key projects.  This includes regular 1:1s, objective setting and collaborative monitoring, and support with development needs.

Technical skills and minimum knowledge:

· Track record of successfully influencing politicians and key decision-makers to achieve strategic goals at different levels of government.

· Track record of delivering strategic public affairs activity based on robust evidence, from development to evaluation.

· Can explain components of effective policy influencing, including knowledge of the machinery and structure of government (UK, devolved, local) and experience of informing campaigns activity to mobilise support for policy change.

· Demonstrates a good understanding of policies that affect UK poverty and hunger.  Can explain policy motivations of main political parties and can advise on how to influence them most effectively.

Job purpose

This is an exciting time to join Action for ME. With developments in research and policy alongside delivering services which are in high demand, you will enjoy working in a fast-paced and continually changing environment. You will be responsible for overseeing operational programme design and delivery, reporting of progress, and measuring the impact of all Action for ME work to improve the lives of people affected by ME. Better meeting their needs today while taking action to secure change for tomorrow. You will also assist the Chief Executive in implementing the organisational strategy, and by adapting and evolving delivery models on the ground. As you will have operational management and oversight for our Healthcare Services and hold the Designated Safeguarding Lead role for the organisation, you will bring considerable services-related experience at a management and leadership level. The Chief Executive will focus predominately on external matters and therefore you must have experience of managing an organisation to achieve high quality programmes with evidenced impact and motivated teams. You will act for the Chief Executive on topics, as agreed, and deputise during their absence.

Key duties

1. Leadership

• Ensure that children and adults with ME are at the heart of everything we do through meaningful engagement and participation to influence all aspects of our work.
• Deputise for the CEO and represent and promote the Charity at national meetings and events.
• Deputise for the CEO during periods of absence, and in relation to specific matters, issues or elements of operation as delegated from time to time by the CEO, ensuring a consistency of approach and decisions aligned with the organisation’s objectives.
• With the CEO and HR Business Partner, lead on implementing the People and Culture Strategy and ensuring our Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging plan is achieved.
• To provide support, leadership and coaching to the Management Team to ensure the smooth running of the organisation and development of the Charity.
• Contribute to the development of the overall strategy for Action for ME, ensuring that the best use is made of available resources within agreed priorities. Ensure that agreed strategy is delivered to target and in line with agreed budgets.

2. Operations & management

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the Charity ensuring high quality service provision that meets all best practice, legal and regulatory frameworks and internal policies and procedures.
• Hold overall management responsibility for our Healthcare Services including the role of the CQC Nominated Individual, ensuring all regulatory requirements and compliance are met.
• Manage the staff and volunteer team, including holding regular meetings and ensure the efficient running of the office ensuring a culture that supports, inspires and motivates the team while ensuring required standards and quality are met at all times through effective performance management.

• Ensure that policies and procedures are effectively implemented and kept up-to-date to enable the effective management of operations and support growth.

• Hold financial leadership responsibility, working closely with the Finance Manager and the Fundraising Director to ensure sustainability for our work.
• Ensure effective financial management with procedures in place which are kept up-to-date and implemented accordingly.
• Provide support and engagement, where appropriate, to actively grow our income.

4. Working with others

• Lead, nurture and develop relationships with key stakeholder groups and partner organisations, both locally and nationally, supporting Action for M.’s place as the ‘go to’ organisation for people affected by ME
• Lead on new business ideas and pilot projects in line with the strategic objectives; with colleagues, develop the business case, identify and manage risks, lead implementation across teams, evaluate success and learning and make recommendations for future development.

Person specification

Experience and Knowledge

• Proven experience in an operations, leadership, or senior management role, ideally within the charity service delivery or healthcare sector, with the ability to develop and implement strategic plans that drive organisational growth and reporting that demonstrates impact delivered. If you come from outside a support services background, you must demonstrate sound understanding of the regulatory and best practice requirements related to delivering support and/or healthcare services.
• An understanding of ME and associated/overlapping illnesses, the impact on people affected by it or a commitment and ability to understand the illness and lead services to meet the needs of children and adults with ME
• Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams, including remote workers, and fostering a supportive workplace culture where change is a constant.
• Safeguarding understanding at a management/decision-making level.
• Proven experience of building and nurturing strong relationships internally and externally at all levels.
• A sound understanding of outcome-focused, effective performance management, quality assurance and risk management.

· Assist in managing storytelling requests from across RNID, providing vital support and crafting impactful and compelling narratives.

· Manage and update our centralised database of case studies, celebrities, and influencers, ensuring all stories across the charity are recorded for effective stewardship. Maintain storyteller profiles, contact details, permissions, and consent forms while ensuring GDPR compliance in data collection and storage.

· Collaborate with PR, fundraising, digital, and campaigning teams to integrate storytelling into their work, identify their needs, and match case studies or celebrities to relevant projects.

· Support the development and delivery of storytelling content across multiple platforms, including social media, website, press, and marketing materials, ensuring content meets accessibility standards.

· Manage multiple internal and external storyteller requests.

You will have excellent writing skills, with experience in journalism, PR, or a similar field, and a strong ability to craft compelling narratives that engage and inspire. Sightsavers’ Trusts and Corporate Partnerships team is excited to be expanding its team in response to growing demands and opportunities in the trusts & foundation sector. We are recruiting for two additional Trusts & Foundations Advisors to be key contributors to the development of Sightsavers trusts and foundations programme. They will play a crucial role in the successful recruitment and cultivation of new business, while also managing a portfolio of existing trust and foundation donors primarily based in the UK, U.S and Europe.

In this role, the Advisor will be instrumental in contributing towards the team’s annual income target and supporting additional planned growth in the coming years. 

Responsibilities

• Manage and cultivate relationships with a portfolio of key trust and foundation donors for Sightsavers (up to 7-figure funding agreements) via proposals, mailings, reports, telephone or face-to-face meetings as appropriate, and coordinate donor visits, dealing with CEOs, Directors, and Trustees.

Lead on cultivating relationships with CEOs, Directors, and Trustees, with the aim of establishing additional high-value funding relationships.
• Work proactively across the organisation, including cross-culturally, to coordinate, develop, and deliver a high standard of compelling project proposals and reports ready for submission to donors whilst ensuring excellent grant/contract management to existing donor relationships.
• Actively participate in the networks surrounding trusts and foundations, sharing information, insights, opportunities, and fundraising materials produced.
• Represent Sightsavers and/or support staff delegations at conferences and networks to engage with and cultivate new donor relationships.

We are recruiting a Community Engagement and Events Officer to assist in the delivery and stewardship of our growing virtual events programme, and support on the development of our bespoke activities such as Starlight Walk and Ribbon Run.

This is an exciting time to join Sands as we are in a period of ambitious growth. This role will make a valuable contribution to Sands’ fundraising strategy and will help to deliver a range of new and existing fundraising activities in our programme. 

In this new role you will be responsible for the management of our online fundraising communities, assist with the promotion, recruitment, and logistics of several of our fundraising activities as well as helping to improve and streamline our stewardship processes.

The post-holder will develop and build positive relationships with our supporters to ensure that they all receive a great supporter experience, and to help to maximise our fundraiser income and supporter engagement.  Additionally, you will help Sands to recruit and deliver our fundraising activities to the highest of standards and ensure that all our fundraisers feel valued through excellent stewardship.

You will have relevant experience of event fundraising, a good understanding of social media’s role within this area and be able to demonstrate experience of digital advertising. The Role

As Principal Legal Adviser (Maternity cover), you will collaborate with Uplift’s team and key partners to ensure that our collective work is underpinned by robust and forward-thinking legal and policy analysis. From identifying strategic litigation opportunities to advancing law reform advocacy, this is a diverse role that is key to our work.

Uplift has taken and supported high-profile climate litigation and used legal insight to generate front-page headlines linked to our campaigns. Most recently, we have won the legal case against the Rosebank oil field in the North Sea. We have also generated legal analysis to support a wider network to participate in vital public consultation processes.

The successful candidate will have exceptional legal and advocacy skills, an ability to think strategically about law and policy opportunities, and a keen interest in climate and energy-related policy and campaigns. A strong commitment to Uplift's mission and core values is also required.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include:

Strategy and leadership

• Responsible for the development and implementation of Uplift’s legal strategy.
• Lead the development of Uplift’s strategic legal work, including litigation, law reform advocacy, and legal advice and analysis, that advances Uplift’s objectives.
• Lead the delivery of work programmes - including management of diverse and complex litigation and associated legal campaigns/communications - in line with Uplift’s legal strategy.
• Identify and shape strategic litigation opportunities, providing legal analysis and support to external lawyers and experts throughout.

Analysis and legal advocacy

• Develop legal analysis to support campaign, communications and research strategies, including support for key partners.
• Analyse, interpret, and synthesise legal and policy developments to support the politics team and advise our network.
• Track ongoing legal and policy developments across Uplift’s core areas of interest to identify key opportunities and gaps.
• Provide fact-checking and ad-hoc legal research for the Uplift team to ensure accuracy in Uplift’s public communications.

Management and staff support

• Manage a team to deliver Uplift’s legal strategy and objectives, including Legal & Policy Adviser and Legal Campaigns Coordinator.
• Manage sub-grants, sub-contractors and arrangements with external lawyers where relevant.
• Oversee financial and budget management of key legal work programmes and campaigns, with support from Uplift’s senior management team. 
• Provide ad hoc high-level legal guidance and advice to Uplift’s senior management team on operational matters.

Our ideal candidate will have: 

• Experience in a similar or related role.
• A formal legal qualification, with a strong preference for previous experience in strategic litigation. Legal expertise in an area relevant to Uplift’s legal work is essential: environmental or climate law, public law (including administrative law) and/or just energy transitions.
• Experience of working and advising on policy areas linked to Uplift’s agenda would be a significant asset.
• A demonstrable ability to provide compelling and novel analysis, including defining and executing strategic legal projects.

Purpose of the role 

The purpose of this role is to increase the fundraising capability of The Vitiligo Society and secure the income we need to deliver our support to those affected by vitiligo. It is part of our new fundraising strategy.

Reporting to the Charity Director you will take the lead on establishing a fundraising programme. You will also support our community and membership fundraising, recruiting and supporting volunteer fundraisers and helping to improve and maintain our membership & donation processes.

Your Experience

We are looking for a candidate who has a background in charity fundraising, in particular community, Trust and Foundation fundraising.

Key responsibilities

Fundraising from Trusts and Foundations

Leading on applications to trusts and foundations with input from the Charity Director and delivery teams as needed, incl:

• Writing and submitting high quality applications to trusts and foundations that reflect The Vitiligo Society  and our members' stories.

• Researching potential charitable trusts and foundations to approach for funding.

• Build and maintain positive relationships with key personnel in relevant funding organisations.

• Support monitoring and evaluation and coordinate relevant reporting to funders.

• Establishing and maintaining a funders database within our existing CRM system.

Community Fundraising

• Assisting with improving the processes for donations from individuals.

• Working in cooperation with the staff, trustees and volunteers to develop and deliver up to 3 fundraising campaigns per year (a minimum of 1).

• Recruiting and supporting community volunteers to undertake fundraising activities.

Other Fundraising

• Working with the Charity Director to develop the organisation’s Trusts and Community fundraising strategy.

• Assist with the development of a corporate fundraising strategy as appropriate.

• Assist with the reporting on income generation and evaluating progress.

• Keeping up to date with best practice in fundraising and fundraising trends.

People Management 

• Oversee the engagement of volunteer fundraisers, supporting them to undertake community fundraising activities and sharing their stories to inspire others. 

• Build, and encourage, positive working relationships with other staff to ensure members receive relevant information at the right time and that communications reflect the lived experience of individuals affected by vitiligo.

General

• Working within the The Vitiligo Society ethos and values.

• Be part of a rota of staff & volunteers answering the Society's helpline

• Attend The Vitiligo Society events when required, which may include planning and attending support events virtually and in person. 

• Be part of the rota for checking The Vitiligo Society’s social media outside normal office hours.

• Support content creation for The Vitiligo Society, by identifying potential case studies and stories.
