About You

Parentkind has been highly successful in fundraising, delivering 5/6/7/8 figure opportunities during this, its first year of fundraising.  We now require an ambitious and experienced Corporate Account Manager, with a passion for building on this to grow and deliver high value fundraising partnerships that will bring about transformational change. You have a passion for the work that Parentkind does and are able to inspire our partners to work with us to make a difference to the life outcomes of young people. You will bring excellent communication skills and a motivated, results-driven attitude.

We’re looking for a Research Manager who combines exceptional ability in research and report-writing, with a real passion for (and experience in) peacebuilding. We offer flexible hours and working from home, anywhere in the world. It will be vital that you have an excellent grasp of the context in the Central African region, which will require time spent there and, ideally, significant prior knowledge.
In the first months of the programme, the team will consult at least three thousand people, with a combination of key informant interviews, individual questionnaires and focus groups to build both quantitative and qualitative datasets.
This will add to a dataset of over ten thousand consultations over 6 years, so you’ll have a unique evidence base at your disposal. We believe that, with your expertise and support, we could make better use of the rich information in these datasets, and we feel we owe that to the women and men we’ve consulted. The reports you produce will help amplify their voices, providing decision-makers in government and the international community with clear recommendations for activities that will address root causes of conflict and promote sustainable peace and development.

We are looking for a proactive, self- motivated and solutions-focussed individual to make an impact in the role of Research Manager whilst providing maternity cover for a 12-month period. You’ll share in our vision, mission and values and have children at your heart, and use your passion for making a difference to support and accelerate the ambitious work of Solving Kids’ Cancer UK and the Research team.

Summary of role responsibilities 

• Manage a portfolio of international childhood cancer research projects, engaging stakeholder expertise where appropriate and providing administrative, operational, and relationship management support.  

• Monitor and evaluate the impact of Solving Kids’ Cancer UK’s patient-centric research programme, working closely with the Communications and Campaigns Manager to effectively communicate this to a wide range of audiences.

Job description

Are you passionate about patient and public engagement, effecting system change, and improving services? Are you confident to design and carry out research, and tell the story of the findings in briefings and reports?  Do you relish building relationships with external partners, and working together to bring about change? If so, we’d love to work with you to improve the experiences of people using health and social care services in Barnet.

As our Senior Research & Participation Officer, you will be working on an exciting new project to improve primary care access for residents. Your flair for planning and logistics will enable you to both gather evidence about the experiences of Barnet residents, and to collate existing data. You’ll also be comfortable producing accessible how-to guidance, to enable people experiencing health inequalities to access services.

The role will involve building effective relationships with stakeholders including GP Practice Managers, voluntary sector organisations and NHS Integrated Care Board partners. You will work with these stakeholders constructively and persuasively, to seed partnership initiatives and achieve positive change for Barnet residents.

Background

Chapter One is a dynamic, growing charity with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive. Our mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most. We work in eleven areas/regions of the UK and will support 3000 children in 2023-24.

Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme pairs struggling five to seven-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who are working professionals. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.

From a school perspective, online reading volunteers provide direct, meaningful literacy support for up to 10 pupils per class. The programme is particularly suitable for communities where it might be challenging to find parents and other volunteers who can commit to physically visiting schools to boost reading.

Job Summary

Chapter One is seeking a West Cumbria Programme Manager who is an excellent communicator and is able to both motivate and support schools and teachers to implement our online reading volunteers programme, and also to ensure that the programme’s impact and benefit to disadvantaged communities is maximised throughout the academic year.

The post is ideal for someone looking for part-time, flexible, term-time only work from a home base and who is able to travel frequently around West Cumbria. The postholder will be joining a team of established Programme Managers (also part-time) who work in different parts of the UK and will need to have some flexibility to work additional hours during busy autumn months, and conversely to work fewer hours during quieter periods of the year.

Key Responsibilities:

• Effectively explain Chapter One’s online reading volunteer programme and its benefits to school leaders and teachers

• Install, setup and maintain Chapter One equipment in participating classrooms

• Fully understand the operation of the Chapter One platform and database and communicate this to others

• Organise and conduct initial teacher training and follow-up

• Ensure a smooth initial launch of Chapter One’s programme in every classroom

• Liaise with colleagues performing technical and volunteer support roles

• Through regular visits to/contact with schools, provide on-going embedded professional learning and support to teachers throughout the year as needed

• Proactively monitor classroom adherence/fidelity to the Chapter One model, including systematic review of data reports and volunteer feedback, taking proactive action to resolve problems that arise

• Analyse and manipulate data (largely in Google sheets) to produce reports and identify trends

• Create monthly data summaries for all participating classrooms

• Lead annual review meetings for senior leadership at participating schools

• Support programme monitoring, evaluation and research as required

• Coordinate in person and virtual school ‘visits’ of volunteer teams to classrooms where necessary

• Liaison with corporate partners as required

• Weekly communication and status updates with Senior Programme Manager(s) and wider team

• As a new school year approaches, secure commitments from returning schools and find and target new schools to join Chapter One’s programme

Role Requirements:

• Experience in leading the design and delivery of work to drive innovation, including problem or opportunity identification and support for the development of solutions. 
• Technical knowledge and experience of working in the area of scaling of innovation for impact, ideally in a humanitarian context. 
• An understanding of project and/or grant management including procurement of service providers and management of consultancy contracts to support the HIF’s work. 
• Excellent facilitation skills (both online and in person), particularly of interactive and accessible workshops, with the ability to bring new ideas to fruition. 
• Proven ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships and networks with diverse stakeholders, specifically within the field of scaling.

The Role

As Philanthropy Manager, you will be contributing towards the ambitious plans to further increase reach and impact over the next three years. This role presents an opportunity to manage and grow the philanthropic income, including leading on the development of the Major Donor programme/s.

You will play a central role in making stroke the investment priority it needs to be by shaping the small but promising philanthropy programme, managing a portfolio of committed supporters as well as new prospects. You’ll also scope and test new philanthropy products to drive sustained giving. 

Working within the High-Value Engagement Team, you will build relationships with loyal and prospective donors, raising vital funds to power the Association’s work to support people affected by stroke.

Key responsibilities will include:

· Lead the development of the philanthropic programme/s, using knowledge of sectoral trends and best-practice acquisition, cultivation, and stewardship strategies to reach personal and collective financial targets.

· Submit proposals in order to secure and renew income from major donors.

· Provide the necessary financial information to the Head of Philanthropy and Trusts so that he can prepare budgets and forecasts in a timely manner.

About You

Reporting into the Head of Philanthropy and Trusts – we are looking for someone with an eye for detail and the ability to prioritise a diverse workload. You will have:

· Experience of philanthropic fundraising for a charitable organisation or equivalent, with a track record of securing £50k+ donations.

· Experience of building and developing effective relationships in a professional setting.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· A growth mindset, and a proven ability to deliver or exceed targets.

This is an exciting opportunity for a major donor fundraiser to join CSW, to initiate and develop strong relationships with individuals and corporates who have the capacity to make significant donations to CSW and to steward these relationships towards deeper engagement with CSW year after year.

• Develop a Major Gifts strategy that delivers agreed income goals and leads to increased and multi-year financial commitments from Major Donors.
• Develop individual cultivation plans for Major Donors that provide opportunities for them to make impactful gifts, pray and campaign.
• Research and write funding proposals and cases for support and adapt as needed.
• Produce and send regular letters and reports demonstrating the impact of gifts.
• Develop relationships with a small pool of Corporates that leads to increased engagement and income generation.

• A minimum of three years’ major donor fundraising experience for a charity.
• Proven track record of securing five-figure and six-figure gifts from major donors.
• Experience of providing excellent stewardship to major donors.
• Excellent communication skills, especially verbal and written English
• Writing compelling funding applications/ proposals that match donors’ interests with CSW’s mission and activities.

This role will help drive forward the delivery of the Trussell Trust’s policy research strategy, developing and contributing to critical pieces of research that help progress our vision of ending the need for food banks. 

The Senior Policy Researcher will be responsible for developing and delivering insightful and timely qualitative, quantitative and participatory policy research. As well as producing and scrutinising high-quality mixed-methods research, they will work closely with colleagues to ensure that this is accessible for a range of audiences in order that it can best meet the organisation’s policy influencing goals. 

Role responsibilities 

• Coordinate, design, and deliver research projects and ad hoc analysis on policy areas which contribute to our strategic goal of ending the need for food banks, including (but not limited to) Universal Credit, disability benefits, mental health, in-work poverty and debt 

• Manage commissioned research projects, including codesigning data collection tools, monitoring budgets, quality assurance and strong project management 

• Embed equality, diversity and inclusion principles in internal and commissioned research project design, prioritising participatory methods that support the voice of lived experience 

• Advise and support Policy Research Officers and Network Policy & Research Officers in supporting the food bank network to understand and use our research, but also to deliver their own, where appropriate 

• Help internal and external stakeholders make best use of the Trussell Trust’s data and policy research, including quality assurance of outputs, and compelling written and oral communication of our research findings 

• Liaise – as required – with other data and research-related colleagues to develop and deliver analytical projects, and share knowledge 

• Support key colleagues to plan and deliver the Trussell Trust’s wider influencing strategy, including colleagues in the Policy and Research department and beyond 

Person Specification 

Technical skills and minimum knowledge: 

• Track record of delivering social research and data analysis to support policy development or campaigns activity 

• Understanding of quantitative and qualitative social research principles and analysis methods 

• Advanced writing skills, understanding writing with impact and producing concise outputs for a range of audiences 

• Confidence and ability in explaining and presenting complex research findings and methodology to non-expert audiences 

• Self-sufficient use of I.T., including proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and project management processes
