Shine Nurse Specialist (Adult Nursing/ Registered General Nurse)

Location: Home based - within a commutable distance of London as there will be a requirement for fortnightly travel to the Chelsea & Westminster Clinic and with additional occasional travel across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. 

Shine’s Health Team 

Shine’s Health Team provides condition-specific health advice and support to people of all ages with spina bifida, hydrocephalus, NPH or IIH, promoting good self-management and enabling our members to live in optimum health.  The Team also aims to reduce the numbers of pregnancies affected by spina bifida and anencephaly through education around supplementation and fortification with folic acid, and other measures. 

Purpose of Job 

The Shine Nurse Specialist will deliver services and create resources to improve the health of Shine’s members, by informing members, their carers and professionals 

Principal Duties 

• To provide ad hoc advice to Shine’s members, their carers  and professionals on complex health issues, and signpost to NHS services 

• To attend and represent Shine at the Chelsea & Westminster Spina Bifida Clinic

• To collect information, statistics and research from a variety of sources to inform Shine’s health projects 

• To create resources to inform and support members’ health 

• To develop training/information resources for professionals 

• To plan and deliver projects, events, presentations and information sessions for members and professionals 

• To provide an information resource for Shine staff 

• To form and engage with networks of health professionals 

• To represent Shine at events and meetings 

• To work closely with the Health Research & Information Coordinator to produce and disseminate health information to Shine members and the general public 

Skills and Experience 

Essential 

• Professional/Registered Health Qualification, for example:

  • Adult Nursing 

  • Registered General Nurse 

• Experience of searching scientific and medical literature, collating information and writing reports 

• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal 

• Ability to work effectively alone and as part of a team 

• Ability to plan and deliver projects 

• Good presentation skills 

Desirable 

• Knowledge of the physical aspects of spina bifida and hydrocephalus

To advance PETA's work, particularly our promotion of vegan living, by initiating and delivering various special projects

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Work with the Director of Vegan Corporate Projects and Corporate Projects Manager to develop and manage a strategic plan for PETA's work with companies
• Establish and maintain productive relationships with corporations and institutions, and negotiate to improve/increase their vegan options while reducing/eliminating meat, dairy and eggs
• Work with caterers at major sports arenas in the UK to encourage them to expand and promote their vegan food offering
• Encourage chicken shop takeaways to have vegan chicken options on the menu
• Develop positive ways to reach farmers, farming organisations, and the public, to promote plant-based agriculture
• Ensure consistency and best practices in external communications
• Prepare and deliver presentations to executives
• Initiate and execute projects to encourage the public to try a vegan lifestyle

To support people affected by macular disease now, the Macular Society provides a range of support, information and services. Our research programme is focused on finding new treatments and a cure to Beat Macular Disease forever.

This exciting role is responsible for delivering income from a range of donors and prospects, with a focus on trusts and foundations, lottery and statutory sources, as well as HNWI. About the Program

The Europe Regional Finance program has evolved out of our Financial Regulation and Policy Program that began in 2019 with a narrow focus on European central banks. Since then, we've expanded to shape financial regulation and policy globally to accelerate clean energy and create lasting systemic change in how public finance addresses climate challenges. Now the Europe Regional Finance program will focus on EU Policy and Finance and UK Policy and Finance.

The purpose of this role is to contribute to achieving the objectives in the EU Financial Policy and Regulation project, specifically the work on public finance, fiscal policy and industrial strategy. Together with partners and allies, this role will help stop the political polarisation of net zero and contribute to building the broader case for public investment by establishing and propagating a narrative linking the opportunities of the clean energy transition with improving conditions for households and communities. This role sees the big picture and can translate it into actionable plans for maximum impact.

You have experience working on public finance, fiscal policy, or industrial strategy. Dose of Nature is in an exciting phase as we continue to receive funding to expand our reach, particularly increasing accessibility to our service for clients living in the Waverley area.

We are seeking a psychologist with passion for the natural world and there is great potential for the psychologist to lead on areas in which we seek to develop and expand. The post-holder would be closely supported by the psychology team, as well as the wider team, to do so.

Dose of Nature is a mental health charity whose objective is to improve the mental health and wellbeing of individuals through increased engagement with the natural world. Our work is rooted in a wealth of scientific evidence that demonstrates the physiological and psychological benefits of spending time in nature.  We deliver ‘Nature Prescriptions’ to adults (aged 18+) referred by their GP with a wide range of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction.

Our Dose of Nature Prescription is overseen by psychologists and is a genuine alternative to both medication and more traditional psychological interventions. Through a combination of education, first-hand experience, and practical and motivational support, we aim to encourage a greater connection with nature and inspire lifestyle changes that will have a significant and lasting impact on mental wellbeing.  Dose of Nature is a fun, supportive and lively organisation that encourages creativity and independence, as well as a strong sense of working together as a team.

The nature of the role requires occasional evenings and weekends to cover monthly volunteer training evenings and social events as necessitated by the needs of the charity.

Key Responsibilities 

Clinical 

• To carry out psychological assessments of clients referred to the service, to reach a psychological formulation of the client’s difficulties and understand their wider contextual needs, and to support those clients throughout their journey with Dose of Nature, offering ad-hoc support where needed.
• To subsequently pair clients with an appropriate volunteer Nature Guide who then delivers the Dose of Nature Prescription.
• To review clients at the end of their Dose of Nature Prescription and ensure that those clients who would like to and / or need to, maintain connection with Dose of Nature by attending groups, social events, and through ad-hoc support.
• To maintain relationships with GP practices and other referrers, and to inform them of client progress.
• To support the Clinical Lead to offer workshops and presentations to other agencies, professional colleagues and in the wider community.
• To provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals, staff members and volunteers contributing to a client’s recovery.

As the WeProtect Global Alliance Head of Strategy, you will lead a small team to build a global network, evidence base and policy portfolio to guide and drive the implementation of our Strategy and mission targets. Your team will provide high level analysis and ask critical questions, supporting the Alliance to identify immediate and emerging issues which may require investigation or exploration, support the Policy Board, Executive Team, Head of Members and Head of Development to navigate key strategic decisions.
