The Finance Officer will join a small and dynamic team that covers Finance, Human Resources, IT and Business Operations. The Finance & Operations team play a critical role by running the day-to-day operations and providing the infrastructure that enables the continued delivery of the Trust’s mission and objectives.
The Sutton Trust is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Finance Officer to join the team and provide crucial support on a range of key finance processes. This is a fast-paced and hands-on role that requires an understanding of basic finance processes. You can expect a steep learning curve in a passionate and supportive working environment.
We have recently introduced a new accounting system and are looking for someone who is willing to learn, make the most of the improved technology and contribute to automating (and improving) our finance processes. Main duties
- Maintaining the Purchase Ledger including processing supplier invoices, staff expense claims, grant and bursary payments, reconciling statements and making the relevant payments
- Maintaining the Sales Ledger including raising invoices and allocating receipts
- Cash management including checking bank transactions daily, allocating transactions on the accounting system and producing regular bank reconciliations. Paying in cheques and reconciling floats, if required
- Maintaining accurate records of both unrestricted and restricted fund transactions including receipts, grants, staff expenses, overheads and cash
- Providing timely and accurate financial support to the Programmes, Development and Research teams to assist them with forecasting, budgeting, reconciliation and (donor) reporting
- Supporting with the month end procedures such as balance sheet reconciliations, depreciation, month end adjustments, salary and overhead allocations
- Gathering monthly payroll information and reviewing monthly payroll reports
- Assisting with the administration of the pension scheme and of employee benefits
- Preparing quarterly Gift Aid claims and maintaining the relevant supporting documentation
- Assisting with the year-end statutory accounts preparation, audit and budget setting process
- Ensuring that the filing is done in a timely manner and that all paperwork is up to date
- Proactively updating your own knowledge in relation to the role, identifying and undertaking appropriate training
- Keeping up to date with legislation, policies and procedures relevant to the role and the Trust’s work

Terms of Appointment

- Office location: The Sutton Trust, 9th Floor, Millbank Tower, 21-24 Millbank, London, SW1P 4QP. Our home working policy gives staff the option to work from home for up to 60% of the time, with approval from their line manager.

CAFOD’s mission in the Catholic community of England and Wales is to inspire and equip Catholics to actively engage in the Church’s efforts to overcome poverty and injustice. The primary purpose of this role is to provide administrative and communications support to the Community Participation Coordinators across England and Wales, with a focus on the West & Wales region as the first point of contact. As Head of Fundraising and Communications, you will manage a high-performing team of four staff: Database & Donor Manager, Communications & Engagement Manager. About the Youth Endowment Fund
We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.
In recent years violent crime has risen significantly. Homicides, assaults, robberies and offences involving weapons have all seen sustained growth. We have also seen large increases in violent crime involving children and young people. This is a tragedy. Every child captured in these numbers is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them.
The Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) is a charity with a £200m endowment and a mission that matters. We exist to prevent children becoming involved in violence. Our mission is to find what works and build a movement to put it into practice. A big part of the movement that we need to build is in the world of policing. We need to inspire and connect with police forces across England and Wales to spread what works and make our country safer for some of our most vulnerable children. We are looking for someone to lead on making this happen.
Key Responsibilities Include:
We are making good progress building the evidence of what works within and around policing to reduce violence, with new Practice Guidance and implementation resources on diversion and focused deterrence. But the big risk is that we publish guidance and nothing changes. That’s where you come in. Your role is to work out the best way to make this change happen by getting more senior leaders within policing to use our Guidance, toolkit, research and implementation tools to inform day to day operations and strategic decision making. This will involve:
- Developing great relationships with senior leaders and frontline police officers, generating a strong understanding of key policing issues, needs and behaviours, and building credibility and trust with the sector.
- Developing, managing and tracking the change plan to get more senior leaders to be aware of and use our Guidance, tools and resources, continuously looking for data-driven improvements.
- Creating practical tools and resources that help leaders put evidence into action.
- Supporting police forces, violence reduction units, and police and crime commissioners to develop or strengthen evidence-based practices, including focused deterrence, hotspots policing, and problem-orientated policing.

There are part-time roles available with community litter picking charity CleanupUK, who need help in their mission to engage people in looking after their local environment.

About the opportunity
As an Impact Analyst, you will work within a team across multiple social impact projects. An example of one of the programmes you will become a key part of delivering is the Single Homelessness Prevention Service (SHPS) which is a programme that prevents the next generation of rough sleepers.
The programme supports people to sustain an existing tenancy by negotiating with landlords/ family members, or providing coaching to empower people to do so. Where needed, we help them to find and secure a new home, typically in the private rented sector. SHPS services also seek to prevent the mental trauma associated with homelessness by preventing the escalation of the homelessness journey to crisis point.
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include.
· Overseeing all data related aspects of the programme including data collection, extraction, cleaning, analysis, reporting, and presentation.
· Manage all Power BI reporting tables and system with support from central teams.
· Gathering and analysing quantitative and qualitative data to measure the impact of service innovations for the programmes you are working across. Produce regular reports and insights that aid decision making to continuously improve programme design.

Our People and Organisational Development directorate oversees all aspects of the employee life cycle, from recruitment and onboarding to professional development, transitions and departures. It ensures that employees have the support and resources they need to excel in their roles and contribute meaningfully to the organisation's goals.
As the Head of the Employee Life Cycle Experiences and Processes redesign, you will be working closely with the Director of the Centres of Excellence on our Employee Life Cycle Transformation Project. This work focuses on reimagining and simplifying the experience for everyone involved in the employee journey whether joining, growing within, or leaving the organisation. Our goal is to enhance internal experiences for employees and managers, increase clarity and efficiency, and modernise processes that support people across the organisation.
You will be responsible for:
- Partnering with the Director of the Centres of Excellence to refine the project scope.
- Mapping current employee and manager experiences across the life cycle.
- Redesigning experiences and processes that are inclusive, equitable, and system-agnostic, focusing on improving ease, clarity, and consistency for employees and managers.
- Developing and managing detailed workplans, timelines, and resourcing aligned to project goals.
- Working closely with technology and delivery teams to implement the system changes required to support redesigned experiences.
- Managing internal and external project contributors and coordinate effectively across teams.
- Facilitating input and feedback from employees, managers, operational teams, and subject matter experts.
- Delivering project outcomes on time and within budget.
Key Criteria:
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role, leading and delivering transformation initiatives in People Operations or HR Shared Services functions.
- Experience in Organizational and Operating Models design for the People and Organizational Development function.
- Established track record of successful project management and delivery from concept to completion, managing multiple stakeholders and meeting deadlines.
- Experience working in or with areas such as reward, payroll, HR, and talent.
- Experience in delivering projects in a scaling or complex environment.
- Strong understanding of people systems and related technologies.
- Able to translate process requirements into clear system needs and work collaboratively with technology teams.
- A user centric and inclusive mindset in decision making and design. Ability to actively listen and design processes that are easy to access, understand, and use.
- Excellent communication, engagement and influencing skills. Ability to adapt communication styles and build strong, trusting relationships across a range of stakeholders securing buy-in at all levels.

This year, we’ve embarked on a bold, strategic initiative to enhance our data capabilities. We’re aiming to improve our data use, integration and analytics to increase engagement, maximise impact and drive forward our strategic goals. With a key focus on: effective and efficient operations; collaboration; and continuous improvement in our Technology, Strategy and Business Intelligence teams.
To achieve this ambition, we’ve developed a new technology infrastructure which we are calling “Sage”. We’re implementing new technology infrastructure this year (such as our new CRM system and suite of data tools – Microsoft Dynamics).
We will be taking a structured and phased approach to transitioning and embedding our new team structures, infrastructure and ways of working as part of Phase 2 of this Project.
Our Head of Data and Business Intelligence is a cross-organisational leadership role responsible for improving our use of data and insight. This role involves overseeing impact measurement, data governance, and the effective use of BI tools to support evidence-based decision-making. By driving data maturity and fostering a culture of data and insight driven decision-making, this role will help ensure that the MS Society maximises organisational impact and operational effectiveness through robust data management and analysis.
Our Head of Data and Business Intelligence is responsible for:
- Provide strategic leadership and implement initiatives to improve data maturity and the overall data and insights culture across the organisation
- Develop and implement a comprehensive and organisational-wide data management and BI framework(s) aligned with the MS Society’s mission and organisational strategy
- Act as MS Society’s Data Protection Officer, overseeing compliance with data protection laws and regulations, and acting as the key point of contact for regulatory bodies and data subjects
- Drive adoption and effective use of data management and BI reporting and analysis tools across the organisation
- Collaborate with senior leadership to identify key data, insights, and reporting needs
- Improve and implement an organisational-wide logical data model and taxonomy
- Develop and manage a high-performance data and BI function and ensure practices continuously improves
- Chair a cross-organisational Data and Information Management Group
For this role we’re looking for:
- Experience in a senior data management and BI role, driving up data maturity across an organisation with a variety of disciplines, teams and processes
- Expert knowledge of business intelligence concepts, data visualisation and analytic methods
- Detailed working knowledge of one or more intelligence platforms e.g. PowerBI, and proficiency in SQL
- Experience of developing and managing a technical team, which provides advice and data related services across an organisation
- Experience in training and mentoring staff in the use of data
- Broad knowledge of information and data architecture
- Experience of managing external stakeholders and 3rd party suppliers

About Listening Books
Listening Books is a UK charity providing an audiobook lending service to children and adults who cannot access printed books due to illness, disability, learning or mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression.
About the role
Listening Books provides membership across the UK, with a subsidised membership fee of £25 per year for individuals, and free membership to those who cannot afford to pay a fee. The service is provided directly to individuals, but also through working with hospices, children’s hospitals, care homes and schools.
The Membership and Marketing Assistant will work within the Membership and PR team to help expand awareness of the charity’s work and increase membership in line with the PR and Marketing Strategy.
The Person we are looking for
We are looking for someone with a passion for books and accessibility, who will enjoy the opportunities and challenges of working in a small organisation.
This role is mainly focused around maintaining our social media accounts, using these tools to grow and engage our membership, so you’ll enjoy creating appropriate content and interacting with people online. Regular tasks include running an online book group and hosting author interviews, writing blogs, creating partnerships with other charities (for online activities, sharing of information etc) and helping the membership team with designing leaflets, posters and other content.
As this is a part time role (21 hours per week), you’ll need to manage and divide your time consistently and effectively to meet your recruitment and marketing objectives. Excellent time management is essential. You’ll have a good understanding of social media best practices and awareness of accessibility standards for content creation, as well as being equally comfortable speaking to members and partners on the phone, online or in person.
The ideal candidate will have a friendly, can-do attitude, excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn and improve their skills, as well as a desire to help more people access books. In return, we can offer you 20 days holiday (pro-rata and rising with service), as well as a generous pension scheme. This is a part time role, and working hours can be flexible, within reason, to fit around parenting, caring responsibilities or other lifestyle choices.
