Role Summary

As Fundraising Manager at Caring in Bristol, you will lead the growth of unrestricted income across individual and major donor as well as overseeing our corporate, and community fundraising. You’ll create and deliver inspiring campaigns, optimise donor journeys, and ensure excellent supporter stewardship. About the role 

This new role of Fundraising Manager at Caring in Bristol is vital to the development of unrestricted income.  As a charity we rely on the generosity of the communities of Bristol, from individuals to businesses, community organisations to educational facilities.  The postholder will create and deliver innovative fundraising campaigns and supporter communications that engage and inspire supporters, maximise donor retention, and increase lifetime value. 

The role will be responsible for the growth of income from Individual Donors and Major Donors, and oversee Community and Corporate income.  Working with the Head of Fundraising you will also scope out and help to implement potential new income generation opportunities.

Individual Giving  

You will help shape and take ownership of implementing our individual giving strategy in line with organisational fundraising goals, creating and delivering individual giving appeals, designing and optimising donor journeys, and ensuring all supporter communications are engaging and effective. By leveraging an analytical approach to data segmentation, you will deliver highly targeted and relevant donor experiences. 

The role will lead on our use of our CRM system (Donorfy) ensuring supporter’s data is collected effectively and used in compliance with data protection legislation. You will champion the use of Donorfy, making sure it is being used to its full potential. 

With this data you will manage segmentation, using a targeted approach to ensure we optimise the return on investment of our appeals and fundraising activities. 

Additionally, you will manage our Gift Aid process to ensure both compliance and maximised income and oversee meaningful engagement with individual givers - ensuring all supporters are acknowledged in a timely, personalised manner and provided with tailored marketing materials at key intervals. 

Major Donors  

A key aspect of the role is designing and executing effective cultivation and stewardship plans for both current and prospective major donors, ensuring relationships are nurtured over time. You will also work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and Board members, mobilising their involvement to foster and strengthen connections with our most significant supporters. 

You will develop and deliver tailored fundraising campaigns for major donors, manage and update the major donor database, and conduct thorough research to identify new prospects, preparing insightful briefing notes and supporting materials. 

Line Management and Reporting  

You will line-manage, support and develop the Corporate & Community Coordinator and Fundraising Assistant, providing effective leadership in the development of our proposition to organisations and supporters. 

You will support the development and effective implementation of fundraising plans, helping the Head of Fundraising to ensure that all strategies align with our organisational goals. 

You will be tasked with supporting the reporting from the department around particular income streams, these reports will be both financial and non-financial, detailing the work of the department and progress against targets.

About You 

You’ll have excellent communications skills, be an adept writer, a warm and engaging individual with solid fundraising experience and knowledge of Individual Giving and Major Donor Fundraising.  You will also have a keen eye for detail. 

You will provide our donors and supporters with ‘Wow’ moments, giving them a feeling of importance and that their support is making a difference to some of Bristol’s most vulnerable people.  Our supporters make our work possible and they should feel that!

The Senior Philanthropy and Partnership Manager is a new role, bringing the staff team to eight. We are looking for someone experienced, ambitious and creative to be our first Senior Philanthropy and Partnership Manager, to drive our fundraising strategy, create new opportunities and relationships, lead the cultivation and stewardship of new trust funders, and develop a new major donor fundraising programme.

In this role you will have strategic accountability for fundraising and overseeing progress towards fundraising targets, working with the team and the Board to generate ideas and deliver proposals for raising funds, and for highlighting our impact to potential donors. You will be a hands-on fundraiser, who builds relationships with donors, keeps on top of developments in the funding landscape, develops compelling and creative pitches and proposals for funders, and as a result delivers sustainable income generation to ensure Spotlight achieves our organisational goals.

Person specification - essential criteria

• A creative and proactive mindset, with the ability to take initiative and generate new opportunities

LOCATION OF THE POST HOLDER 

The post holder will be required to work from our drop-in space and office in Central Glasgow and will have flexibility to work from home. There may be occasional travel throughout Scotland and the UK as part of the role, including to NUM’s main offices in Manchester. All equipment required for remote working will be provided and costs for travel outside of normal working spaces will be reimbursed by NUM.

ROLE SUMMARY

We are looking for an outstanding organiser and communicator to manage NUMbrella Lane (NBL) in Glasgow.  NUMbrella Lane has been operating since 2022 after NUM took over aspects of the programming from the charity that ran Umbrella Lane. Since then, the project has evolved to provide in-person health and wellbeing support to Scotland-based sex workers and host events and outings within the community with a focus on community connectivity, reducing isolation and addressed root causes of interpersonal and intersectional violence. NBL is one of few sex worker-led services in the region and we seek innovative leadership that will execute our framework for change, build on partnerships, increase financial resources, and improve the service to the quality requested by communities of sex workers who live in or tour Scotland. 

The post holder is a key point of contact who will further develop health testing services and other material support with, by and for sex workers. The NBL manager will co-design service delivery plans based on the needs of the community and NUM’s larger strategic vision; support the work of the Victim Support Case Worker based at NUMbrella Lane, the Mental Health Support Service Coordinator, and a new post, the Vocational Support Worker. The manager will be required to ensure the delivery of regular drop-in sessions, outings and events, and digital services in consultation with sex workers in Scotland and collaborate with the Manager of Support Services to support Victim and Vocational case work services to Glaswegians. 

To be successful in this role, you should have at least 2 years’ experience as a manager in a position of public trust or in other leadership roles, have an excellent track record in program management and community development. Experience in or knowledge of adult industries is highly desirable. We value lived experience and welcome applicants with insight into the sector, but we do not require applicants to disclose personal histories. Experience with charity sector fund development and community development among marginalised communities are an asset. 

The NBL manager must be knowledgeable about sex workers’ lived experiences, the socio-legal and political contexts within which sex workers and NUM are situated, and the ability to navigate a difficult terrain towards improving the systems, structures and services that influence the health and wellbeing of sex workers in Scotland in service to our mandate to 'end all forms of violence against sex workers' and eliminate the conditions that lead to poverty and survival sex work.

ABOUT NUM

National Ugly Mugs (NUM) is a UK-wide charity providing victim/survivor support and violence prevention services to sex workers, to ensure greater access to justice and protection. We serve sex workers of all genders, backgrounds and modes of work. We offer a digital tools reporting and alerting mechanism to warn sex workers about dangerous individuals who may target them; online screening tools; and individualised support for those who experience harm from a specialist team of Independent Sexual Violence Advisors (ISVA) and other experts. Some of this victim support work is done within formal partnerships with sister organisation. We run a wellbeing drop-in service in Glasgow and other in-person services and events in Manchester and London. We have developed Vocational Support Services for those exploring careers both in and outside of sex industries and we run a Racial Justice project that visibilises the lived experiences of harm among racialised sex workers towards systems change. We are currently enhancing services for sex workers who are 18-25 years of age and those under 30. 

NUM values those with lived experience in sex industries and work with them to shape services and responses, conduct research, develop education packages, and participate in policy advocacy to change the conditions that lead to survival sex work, gain rights and recognition, and improve the safety of UK-based sex workers. 

NUM is run by our CEO and governance is provided by a board of Trustees.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

• At least 2 years' work experience as a manager or coordinator leading implementation of projects and services to marginalised populations with experience being responsible for environments and services.

• Proven people management skills, including line management, supervision and coaching of staff and volunteers

• Experience in project and partnership development, budgeting and fundraising. 

• Monitoring and evaluation skills, including data collection and reporting to funders.

• Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to problem-solve and be proactive, within busy and challenging work environments.

• A deep understanding of marginalisation and the health, safety and rights issues confronting sex workers in Scotland, as it relates to programming priorities, advocacy and partnerships. 

• High quality administrative skills and experience working with digital programs to document activities, deliver tasks on time and on budget. Specifically, proficiency with CRM systems, applications and digital platforms and services, particularly Google Workplace, the Microsoft Office Suite, as well as Slack, Trello, and other project management programs and tools.

We are seeking a fixed-term Grants Manager to join the Access to Justice Foundation through July 2026. The successful candidate will join us at a particularly exciting period of organisational growth and will support us to deliver on increased grant making activity. They will lead the day-to-day operational delivery of our grant making programmes – including overseeing systems and processes to ensure efficient and effective grant making and maintaining relationships with grantees, other funders, and key stakeholders as required. Sitting at the heart of our Health Equity and Involvement team, you’ll lead the design and delivery of an outreach programme that tackles health inequalities head-on. This means working hand-in-hand with grassroots organisations, cultural and faith groups, and local systems to co-create relevant, place-based initiatives that raise awareness, build trust, and improve access to our services and research opportunities.

This is a highly collaborative and strategic role. You’ll use data and lived experience to identify priority communities, lead impactful outreach activity, and ensure the voices of those most affected by inequality shape our work at every level. You’ll also champion inclusive practices across the organisation and help embed equity into everything we do.

Expected travel for this role is: Approximately 2/3 days per month either in the office or at relevant community outreach events across the UK

JOB PURPOSE

The MEAL Manager will provide strategic direction, quality assurance, and innovation for Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning across the organisation’s care reform portfolio. Building on the existing MEAL framework, the role will provide advanced technical leadership, collaborate to enhance organisational learning, and ensure evidence based decision-making at all levels.

The MEAL Manager will drive the development and socialisation of the Results Frameworks, indicators, and data collection tools; oversee data quality, analysis, and reporting; and guide the integration of MEAL into programme design, donor proposals, Theories of Change, and logframes. Working closely with the Head of MEAL, Senior Learning & Research Manager, Country Directors, and advocacy leads, the post holder will influence programme design, donor engagement, and the MEAL strategy.

KEY OBJECTIVES

• Oversee the development, refinement, and implementation of the Programmes and Advocacy Results Framework, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and global best practice.
• Lead high-level analysis, synthesis, and communication of programme results for executive leadership, Board of Trustees, and key donors.
• Drive the digital transformation of MEAL systems, including the appropriate Artificial Intelligence tools ensuring interoperability, efficiency, and accessibility of data across programmes.
• Establish and implement MEAL quality standards, protocols, and SOPs across all country programmes, joint programmes with partner organisations, and advocacy initiatives.
• Collaborate on the design and implementation of internal and external evaluations, ensuring they meet rigorous methodological standards.
• Act as primary technical advisor to senior programme leadership on adaptive management, data-driven decision-making, and strategic learning priorities.
• Represent the organisation in high-level MEAL-related forums, donor meetings, and sector learning networks.
• Strengthen partner and country programme MEAL capacity through targeted technical assistance, advanced training, and mentoring.
• Lead the development of MEAL strategies and frameworks for major funding proposals and multi-country initiatives.
• Identify and integrate innovative tools and methodologies (including data visualisation) to enhance analysis.

You will be an exceptional Policy and Public Affairs Manager who will lead your team to achieve the goals detailed in the RLSS UK Strategic Framework 2025-2030. This is a unique opportunity to work on the front line of policy change, collaborating with ministers, government officials and key partners.

This is a strategic, hands-on role suited to someone with a deep commitment to our water safety and drowning prevention priorities together with significant experience of achieving outcomes and impact.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop, implement and deliver the RLSS Policy and Public Affairs Strategy
• Influence UK and Ireland ministers and government officials by engaging them directly to raise awareness of RLSS UK’s vision, mission and purpose and seeking their support in achieving our goals
• Work collaboratively to influence specific legislation, including campaigning around bills, writing amendments, and working with MPs and Peers to promote them within the legislative process.
• Lead the management of the APPG
• Manage stakeholder engagement strategies and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and partners.
• Stakeholder engagement (Parliament): Build and maintain relationships with key policy makers and parliamentarians through face-to-face meetings, providing briefings to MPs and Lords for Parliamentary debates, preparing written/oral questions, and attending Select Committees, APPGs, Parliamentary receptions and other relevant roundtables and events.
• Attendance and representation at meetings which support RLSS UK’s policy and public affairs priorities

What we’re looking for:

· A track record of securing new business or corporate partnerships, ideally in a fundraising CSR setting

· Experience collaborating across teams (e.g. Marketing design, service delivery) to shape proposals and deliver joint objectives

Location: Our office is a short walk from King’s Cross station in London. For this role, we need someone to come into the office at least one day a week, on a Tuesday. A day where all of Income Generation come into the office. Otherwise we are proud to promote a truly hybrid work culture. You can work remotely for the rest of the time. Equally, you may prefer to work from the office full-time. There will also be an expectation for the successful candidate to be available for in-person sales meetings in London and across the UK, when needed.

The Job

This role requires someone with previous experience in managing and or leading a Dog Training team within an Assistance Dog Organisation, to take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Assistance Dog training team. The successful candidate will ensure that the team of Assistance Dog Trainers develop our puppies and dogs in advanced to training to ensure they receive the highest standard of socialisation and training, thereby maximising their chances of becoming a Medical Alert Assistance Dog. They will also play a role in the training and development of less experienced members of the team.

The welfare of our dogs is very important to us. We have a no-kennel policy, and all our dogs live in the homes of volunteers until they are about 20 months old. We are committed to providing quality training and support for all our dogs and the volunteers who look after them.

The role involves working collaboratively across teams and managing stakeholders to streamline the process of training and placing Assistance Dogs.

Specific Responsibilities

Puppies:

• To liaise with the Dog Supply Advisor on puppy intake
• To support and guide the Puppy Assistance Dog Trainers, with all aspects related to socialising and training of puppies from 8 weeks of age to approximately 16 months of age. This will include observing and supporting in:

- Puppy classes

- 1-2-1 training sessions

- Home visits

- Writing up Behaviour Modification Plans

- Any other ad hoc training support

• To ensure training records are up to date
• To work alongside the Head of Department on the Advanced Trainer pick up schedule, ensuring dogs are put into advanced training at an appropriate standard
• To oversee and carry out MDD internal puppy assessment programme - Behaviour Check List (BCL)
• To ensure all puppies in the socialising scheme follow MDD Health and Welfare policies and procedures
• If and when required, to stay away from home, supporting Puppy Assistance Dog Trainers with their puppies and volunteers who are based in our regional areas
• To offer support to dogs and/or volunteers when needed in the absence of the allocated trainer

Advanced Dogs:

• To support and guide the Advanced Assistance Dog Trainers and when needed, to support with the training of their advanced group of dogs. This will include:

- Observing dogs in all areas of development

- Giving practical advice and support

- Assisting in writing up training plans

- Any ad hoc training support

• To carry out the final assessments of dogs in advanced training
• To oversee the preparation of and to deliver in accordance with the instructor pick-up schedule for the MAAD programme dogs within advanced training

• To offer support to dogs and/or volunteers when needed in the absence of the allocated trainer

Staff Development:

• To work alongside our Assistance Dog Programme Training and Development Coordinator with the training and development of Trainee Assistance Dog Trainers and support in upskilling less experienced Trainers

Puppy Socialiser Recruitment

• To monitor and when necessary, highlight to the Head of Canine Supply, Training and Welfare, a shortage of Puppy Socialisers and Temporary Fosterers
• When required, assist in the recruitment of new volunteer Puppy Socialisers

Other

• To liaise with the Health and Welfare Coordinator on any health issues regarding puppies and dogs within the Assistance Dog Training Scheme
• To liaise with the Instructor Manager on any dogs that are entering or currently in the Medical Alert Assistance Dog (MAAD) programme.
• From time to time, you may be required to have a dog living with you for additional training for a set period
• Highlight to the Head of Canine Supply, Training and Welfare in a timely manner, if you feel a dog is not reaching the appropriate standard or may be more suitable for another role. Detailed, evidenced reasons why, must be supplied
• To oversee the rehoming of withdrawn puppies and dogs from the Socialising Scheme
• To support the Head of Canine Supply, Training and Welfare with the quarterly Trustee reports
• Update the Harlequin CRM database in a timely fashion to ensure accurate and up to date training, veterinary and health records
• Support the charity’s fundraising, communications and volunteering teams as required
• Share best practice with colleagues across the charity
• To be familiar with ADUK and ADI regulations, ensuring that you adhere to these standards with regards to behaviour, obedience, welfare, and branding
• To liaise with and provide support for volunteers who may operate as part of the Medical Alert Assistance Dog department or charity as a whole

PERSON SPECIFICATION

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Ability to manage and support a highly driven team of dog trainers.
• Ability to demonstrate high quality judgement and a proven track record in relation to the following:
• Dog training matters including the analysis of temperaments, appropriate training methods and requirements necessary to maintain public confidence in assistance dogs.
• Solutions to training and behavioural problems.
• Assistance Dog Training including the ability to assess each person’s preferred learning style and adapt as appropriate your training approach, the specific programmes to be followed.
• Welfare and safety and appropriate time for referral to others.
• Appropriate support to trainee staff.
• Dealings with other staff, clients, and members of the public.
• Strong and clear teaching and instructing skills.
• Ability to plan work, be organised and ensure that time is utilised effectively for yourself, colleagues, and Puppy Socialisers.
• Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with a wide range of people internally and externally. This will include clients and their families, fosterers, other professional service providers, members of the public, the media, managers, and other colleagues.
• High level of IT literacy and report writing skills including experience of using Microsoft-based programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer and Power Point.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Practical knowledge and experience in the following areas:

• Had management or team leader experience for a minimum of 2 years within an ADUK Dog Training team.
• ADUK and ADI regulations.
• Basic theory of practical dog training.
• Law in relation to dogs.
• Knowledge of medical conditions relevant to puppies between 8 weeks and 2 years of age.
• Dog and human psychology.
• Health and safety implications of dog and puppy socialiser handling. Some experience of assisting with the training and development of less experienced colleagues.
