We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our friendly publishing team at the British Ecological Society (BES) and support the team in the general running of the BES’ portfolio of ecology journals.

You’ll be looking to build a career in scientific publishing and be eager to learn from a team of internal colleagues and external academic editors. You’ll enjoy staying on top of a range of tasks and be great at working independently and as part of a busy team. The successful candidate will become part of a team seeking to excite and inspire our various audiences in ecology at a time when our science has never been more relevant for society.

Working across the BES journal portfolio, the Publishing Assistant will:

• Check in new submissions of scientific papers to ensure that manuscripts are complete and authors have adhered to journal policies before passing manuscripts on to Editors for content evaluation
• In collaboration with the editorial team, monitor progress on manuscripts in the submission system to identify and help resolve potential bottlenecks in peer review
• Assist in managing the journal inboxes, dealing with straightforward manuscript-related messages from authors, reviewers and external editors
• Ensure that accurate records are maintained in the submission system on the processing of all manuscripts
• Carry out post-acceptance checks on manuscripts and liaise with production team when requested, particularly during periods of annual leave for editorial office colleagues
• Assist in regular performance statistics reporting across the journal portfolio
• The post holder will also have some opportunity to learn about other aspects of editorial office management, including journal development and marketing and support promotion of articles via social media accounts and press releases

About the role

The aim of this newly created role is to lead organisational change on safeguarding and protection across Care4Calais.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

• Significant experience of leading organisational change on safeguarding and protection initiatives in an international humanitarian context.

• Experience and knowledge of international safeguarding and protection standards and good practices, as well as legal and regulatory obligations applicable to charities registered in the UK and (desirable) France.

Major Gifts Manager, International Fundraising

The Major Gifts Manager, International Fundraising will support PETA’s global programmes by securing vital funding from new and existing supporters. This role will advance the fundraising potential of PETA France and PETA Netherlands and work closely with existing teams within the UK and Germany.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop a strategy for international for major gifts fundraising
• Manage and maintain a portfolio major gift donors and prospects, across PETA international entities
• Effectively steward donors and prospects
• Develop personal engagement plans for donors, using knowledge and insights to plan appropriate communications
• Solicit major financial contributions from targeted donors
• Manage a pipeline of prospects, creating engaging opportunities for donors to increase their giving to a higher level
• Acknowledge, thank and recognise donors appropriate to their level of support, and ensure restricted gifts are appropriately allocated
• Maintain accurate records on PETA entities’ databases with relevant information and research
• Work with the prospect researcher to obtain useful information, helping make appropriate asks

This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic, multidisciplinary team focused on driving change and providing education to health professionals across UK health services to end variation in access to support and treatment for men with prostate cancer.

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the interface of research, farming and policy working as part of the GFM team to support the development of the GFM framework and its application on farm, in the food supply chain, for education and learning, policy and finance.

Reporting to the Head of Research of the SFT, you will join the GFM team responsible for a wide range of trials, in the UK and internationally. These include Defra Elms pilots, farm cluster groups, supply chain trials, and international trials delivered as partners of Regen10. Our trials test the application of the framework and the use of the GFM by other stakeholders. 

You will work collaboratively with the trials team managers supporting the design, evaluation and timely delivery of trials. You will lead the quantitative and qualitative analysis of results and the design and reporting of feedback from participants, working with project partners, our trials team, and the wider SFT team to achieve and communicate outcomes. You will provide technical support to the team for the current GFM assessment and work with them and other project partners on the continuing development of sustainability assessments and data collection methodologies for application nationally and internationally. 

The postholder will also have the opportunity to contribute to related work on the conceptual development and application of the framework in different contexts. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Support the team of trials managers responsible for a wide range of GFM trials, in the UK and internationally. 
• Lead on the quantitative and qualitative analysis and interpretation of results and the design and reporting of feedbacfrom participants.
• Support the reporting and communication of results, leading the writing of key reports for stakeholders as needed. 
• Contribute to the development and delivery of assessments used for the trials nationally and internationally - providing technical support including around data management, cleaning and extraction. 
• Support the design and facilitation of workshops for trial farmers and farm advisors. 
• Support the team to deliver their trials and meet trial deadlines, whilst sharing best practice and learnings across the team to build on the skills and strengths of the team across all trials. 
• Contribute to GFM framework development and its application beyond the trials.
• Support the development of learning resources to explain farm sustainability and sustainability assessments to farmers using the GFM framework. 
• Contribute to peer reviewed journal article(s) on the value of framework for building farm advisor / farmer knowledge and support for farm sustainability, and on adding a state-of-the-system approach to certification assessments. 
• Work with project partners, our trials team, and the wider Global Farm Metric team to achieve and communicate our GFM mission and outcomes. 

Relationships:

• Contribute to discussion and review of metrics and GFM team outputs and planning. 
• Attend internal meetings on-line and in-person to share and discuss progress. 
• Engage with external organisations as required to support and promote the GFM and the trials. 
• Attend external meetings and events to present work as required (mainly in the UK, potentially EU)
• Work with the wider GFM and SFT team to support related work when needed.
• Engage with our externals partners and consultants to identify potential for collaboration and avoid duplication in related areas of work.
• Engage with the Regen10 Frameworks Hub team and contribute to discussions, planning and reports. 

Specifically, we are looking for candidates who have experience with and can demonstrate the following: 

• Masters level qualification (or degree level with 2-3 years relevant workplace experience) in a subject area related to food and farming 
• Good knowledge and practical experience of UK farming and farm sustainability. 
• Strong quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills. 
• Experience in developing, delivering, or researching farm sustainability assessments including knowledge of LCA and similar impact assessment approaches.
• Competence in the use of Excel and other packages to collect, manage, analyse and interpret quantitative and qualitative data. 
• Ability to create simple coding for data management, analysis and display an advantage 
• Experience of delivering high quality, robust reports and written materials for different audiences 
• Experience of engagement with farmers and/or farm advisors (desirable).

About you

The successful candidate will have proven campaigning and influencing success with a track record of delivering change. You will be an experienced people manager and able to lead multiple projects with limited supervision, as well as have an expert understanding of the political environment in Northern Ireland.

The right person will have a strong network across Northern Ireland’s political parties, including elected representatives, and Government departments, as well as good media connections, which they are able to use to support the delivery of the charity’s public affairs strategy.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced public affairs manager looking to progress their career in a high-profile charity. You will manage the Policy and Public Affairs team in Northern Ireland and lead the delivery of evidence-based and carer-led public affairs, campaigning, media and research activity across Northern Ireland.

With your team you will lead on a wide range of activity including Carers NI’s policy, research and campaigning work; as well as being responsible for the delivery of awareness campaigns like Carers Week and Carers Rights Day; fronting media and social media activity and representing the charity at the highest level of decision-making in Northern Ireland.

Carers NI’s Policy and Public Affairs team also leads on the Carer Poverty Commission in NI, as well as the Advocacy and Voice Project for unpaid carers, which you will be responsible for delivering.

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking a Director of Learning for Ministry (DLM) to be an advocate and a catalyst for learning for ministry throughout the Church.

The role is based within the Ministries: Vocations and Worship (MVW) team of the Connexional Team of the Methodist Church in Britain, which exists to equip the Methodist Church by training, developing and supporting those called by God to serve in lay and ordained ministry embedding the strategies which support the Church’s aspiration to be inclusive, justice seeking, evangelistic and growing.

Within the team, the DLM will be responsible for:
• working with the Head of Ministries and Learning and in collaboration with others with regards to learning and development for all forms of authorised ministry in the Church’s life
• working with the Director of Ministry Development, for overseeing the development, implementation, evaluation and review of pathways and courses for lay and ordained ministry training.
• formal relationships between the Methodist Council and Methodist-related learning institutions.

Parentkind has been active in corporate fundraising for less than one year but has already delivered partnerships totalling multiple seven figures in value.  This is a fantastic opportunity to join our growing fundraising team and help to develop our successful corporate partnerships department even further. We are looking for someone with experience in securing a range of partnerships (including COTY, corporate grants, sponsorship, commercial and strategic relationships) with regional and national businesses with the capacity bank income at a 5, 6 and 7-figure level. You will be tenacious in your prospect research, and comfortable to package up creative propositions and compelling proposals tailored to each organisation's objectives.

Role summary

You’ll be raising funds primarily for School Plates, the flagship UK programme, to help school menus to become healthier and more planet-friendly by increasing the quality, quantity, and uptake of plant-based food. 

The programme is growing rapidly. Now working with 70 major school caterers feeding over 1 million children daily, we’ve roughly doubled our reach in each of the last two years. With a new educational programme to teach children about their food choices launching this year, and our School Plates Awards and Global Plant-based School Food Network both expanding considerably, there is a need to significantly grow our income.

The role is primarily a combination of major donor and corporate fundraising to complement our existing trusts and foundations fundraising. You’ll be an experienced relationship builder, a driven and enthusiastic self-starter, and an excellent project manager. Responsibilities

• Lead on UK fundraising, focusing on major donors and corporates.

• Develop a creative 3-year fundraising strategy, and draft annual and quarterly objectives.

• Research, identify, and secure new major donors, and develop individual cultivation strategies for prospective donors, moving them along a prospect pipeline.

• Support the stewardship of existing major donor relationships, keeping them informed and involved in our work to secure their continued support. 

• Draft theories of change, cases for support, and other relevant written materials.

• Build on our vision for a successful ‘donor circle’.

• Devise creative ideas for corporate partnerships, and develop relationships with a range of organisations sympathetic to our aims, developing cultivation plans for each.

• Contribute to drafting applications to trusts and foundations, if required.

• Contribute to the fulfilment of our reporting requirements.

Person Specification

• 5+ years of experience of fundraising at an NGO.

• A track record of identifying and securing significant or multi-year, five-figure funds from donors and/or corporates.

• Evidence of writing successful proposals and reports.

• Excellent project management and organisational skills with the ability to lead and work collaboratively.

• Significant experience in researching and developing strong stakeholder relationships.

• Strategic and impact-driven.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including effective listening, objection handling, and negotiation skills.

• Excellent interpersonal skills, including confident demeanour and experience in engaging with a diverse range of high-net-worth individuals. 

• Experience with organising or contributing to inspiring events for major donors.

About the role

Working within our small, dynamic staff team, this role will primarily provide support to the Executive Director in the following areas: communicating the work of the foundation to key stakeholders; lead on and maintaining relationships with trade union groups; driving forward our community grants programme, demonstrating the policy, research and campaign impact of the foundation; general strategic and managerial deputisation.

The role would suit a communications or programmes specialist who is comfortable working flexibly across a number of briefs as befits a small and adaptable organisation. A successful candidate will need to demonstrate an affinity with, and understanding of, the work of the foundation, a flair for messaging, both in print, digitally, and in terms of design, and an administrative and motivational rigour capable of driving forward multiple grant-making programmes with complex timelines.

The role can be either home or office based, but candidates must be willing to spend at least three days a month in our London office.

We are looking for a Policy, Public Affairs & Communications Manager. This role is based within the Drive Partnership and will lead the Policy, Public Affairs and Communications team. Respect is a pioneering UK membership organisation in the domestic abuse sector. We lead on the development of safe, effective work with perpetrators, male victims, and young people using violence in their close relationships.

As the Policy, Public Affairs and Communications Manager for the Drive Partnership, you will lead our efforts to ensure that those with the ability to make change, because of the funding or policy making role they hold, understand the aims and vision of the Drive Partnership and what our data, practice expertise and the voice of survivors is telling us about how to stop domestic abuse in the UK.

In this role, offered a permanent post subject to funding, you will lead a team of two staff, develop our policy influencing capacity and support our national roll out of ground-breaking interventions to stop domestic abuse. You will also take responsibility for improving our internal communications, enhancing our reputation and supporting communications and relationships across the extensive Drive network of partners and beyond.

You will be an experienced public affairs specialist with a background in policy influencing and have extensive contacts. You will build relationships with and work to support Respect, SafeLives, and Social Finance’s public affairs and comms teams and key audiences across the partnership to enhance our influence, reputation and profile both locally and nationally, and maintain good relationships with others who currently work on public affairs and policy issues across the Drive and Respect networks of stakeholders and partners.

You will be joining the Partnership at an important time as we seek to seize the opportunities of a potential new government and wider sector interest in perpetrators of domestic abuse and ensure new commitments in the Domestic Abuse Act and the Tackling Domestic Abuse Plan deliver for victims and survivors.

EVAW’s policy manager plays a critical role in delivering EVAW’s work, including developing policy proposals and positions across a broad range of areas related to violence against women and girls, to inform and support our campaigning aims. Working independently, the post-holder will support our evidence-based campaigning, generate and contribute to critical policy discussions, and support the organisation’s broad lobbying and influencing strategies.

Key tasks include staying up to date with the VAWG policy landscape, producing briefings and reports, identifying key and emerging policy areas, collecting relevant evidence, and building EVAW’s responses to inform our campaigns – often through engagement with members and stakeholders.
