The Philanthropy Manager plays a pivotal role in this transformation. About AAFDA
Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse (AAFDA) is a specialist national charity supporting families bereaved by domestic homicide and working to improve responses to domestic abuse, homicide and suicide prevention. We provide expert advocacy, training, and policy development to influence systemic change and ensure that lessons are learned after domestic abuse related deaths.

The Role
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Training and Events Officer to support our growing training and development programmes and help raise the profile of AAFDA’s work across the UK. This is a varied and rewarding role, ideal for someone with experience in training, event management, and partnership development who is passionate about improving responses to domestic abuse.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, Develop, implement, and evaluate AAFDA’s internal and external training programmes.
• Deliver AAFDA Training Programmes
• Coordinate and manage the AAFDA Conference
• Assessment of workbooks associated with AAFDA’s Level 3 Accredited training
• Produce high-quality training materials and resources suitable for live on line, and in person training. .
• Organise, coordinate, and deliver events aligned with AAFDA’s strategic goals.
• Support the development of an Induction and CPD framework for staff.
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders in the domestic abuse and criminal justice sectors.
• Identify new training and engagement opportunities to generate income and enhance AAFDA’s impact.
• Stay informed on developments, research, and best practice in domestic abuse and homicide/suicide prevention.

About You
You’ll bring energy, initiative, and strong communication skills to this important role. You’ll be confident delivering training and engaging diverse audiences of all levels of experience, and you’ll have excellent organisational and relationship-building skills.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Strong understanding of domestic abuse dynamics and current research.
• Experience designing and delivering training
• Training/Education qualification in training adults – minimum of Level 3

CAMPAIGNS ASSISTANT - Full-time permanent position (open to part-time applicants)

As Campaigns Assistant, you’ll support the delivery of impactful campaigns led by our Campaign Managers and support high-profile projects like World Animal Day and various events.

To be considered, we’ll be looking for motivated, resilient candidates with relevant experience or skills developed in an animal welfare (or related) degree or more general public policy and campaigning. The successful candidate would need to be organised, with a sharp eye for detail, able to deliver projects on time, whilst working as part of a team. You’ll need a strong ability to multi-task and prioritise, as no day is ever the same.

This is a full time or part time permanent role offering a salary around £23,000, depending on skills and experience.

The Role

The Organisation

The CSJ Foundation was born out of the Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) an independent think tank, established in 2004 that studies the root causes of Britain’s social problems and seeks to address these through innovative policy recommendations to government. The CSJ has changed the landscape of our political conversation by putting social justice at the heart of British politics. This has led to some of the biggest welfare reforms in a generation. The CSJ Foundation is committed to ensuring the voices of grassroots charities are elevated to national decision makers. Our aim is to bring much-needed frontline experience into national policymaking. Utilising local networks and a philanthropic platform to guide investment, the CSJ Foundation will ensure that charities who are fighting the root causes of poverty receive the right support – both in policymaking and funding. The CSJ Foundation was established to magnify and amplify the crucial role played by grassroots charities and social enterprises around the country. These organisations are on the frontline in the fight against poverty and do incredible work, day-in-day-out. Despite this fantastic work, these organisations remain largely unseen and underfunded. The CSJ Foundation seeks to change that.

The Role 

The CSJ Foundation is looking for a Regional Portfolio Manager (North) to join its Portfolio team to help grow and professionalise it’s offering to charities and donors alike. The CSJF has big ambitions for its work with small charities over the next 3 years, central to this work is our Portfolio team. Based in the north of England (ideally north of Sheffield), the post-holder will be responsible for delivering first-rate charity due diligence on some of the best small charities in the UK. In this role you will use tech solutions to drive insights and understanding about CSJF’s work with charities, in addition, the post-holder will gather intel from frontline charities to create insights to inform the CSJ’s policy work. The post-holder will also seek to generate interesting media stories. The post holder will help to generate new income for the CSJF through multiple streams. The post-holder will work towards pre-agreed targets to grow the CSJF’s work, fully supported by the Managing Director and other colleagues. The Regional Portfolio Manager will hold responsibility for building and maintaining relationships with multiple charities based in the North of England, engaging in conversations with local organisations and individuals, to ensure that the CSJF’s work is driven forward effectively. 

The Person

Main Responsibilities 

Responsibilities for this post include:

• Be a leading member of the CSJF’s portfolio team helping to professionalise and enhance our charity due diligence work
• Helping generate insights from charities to contribute to recommendations in CSJ policy reports
• Work with colleagues to develop a first-class data-input and reporting platform (or database) of charities to monitor their impact and activities
• Use this data to generate insights and presentations to showcase our work
• Interpret data to create insights about charities, philanthropy and the voluntary sector
• Use tech solutions to enhance our data analysis and presentation ability
• Use of presentational tools like Canva (and others) to create information packs for internal and external stakeholders
• Work alongside the Comms team to deliver mainstream media stories generated from frontline insights from the Northern charities

About the Role

Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager, you will provide in-house clinical and pathological laboratory services, interpret results and communicate relevant findings to the clinical veterinary teams and other relevant teams or personnel.

Key responsibilities include:

• Carrying out routine haematology, biochemistry and endocrinology on blood samples submitted by the veterinary teams and promptly highlighting abnormal results.
• Carrying out routine faecal parasitology on faecal samples submitted to the laboratory for intestinal parasites, liver fluke and lungworm.
• Monitoring the worm burden of charity donkeys by regular testing of a representative sample as determined by the Research Department.
• Processing blood and faecal samples from rehomed donkeys, private donkeys, holding bases and Ireland as part of an advisory service.
• Performing PCR tests on a variety of bodily fluid and tissue samples submitted for donkeys and mules with suspected infections and reporting the results to the case Veterinary Surgeon.
• Providing laboratory-based support to research and veterinary team projects.
• Supporting the Laboratory Manager in the training of new staff and the teaching of students and visitors.

About You

You will have:

• Previous biological laboratory experience.
• Knowledge and practical experience of laboratory principles.
• Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a biological or animal science.

The Green House is the only specialist service across BNSSG and BANES supporting children, young people, and families who have experienced sexual abuse.

In 2022, we transitioned from a single therapy option to a whole family, community-based model which provides a more accessible and comprehensive approach to support, whilst reducing wait times by 63%. Though we deliver a local service, our work is influencing the national response to child sexual abuse. We provide national training on pre-trial therapy and survivor-led leadership programmes.

Purpose of the Role

The Children and Young People’s (CYP) Therapist sits within The Green House Therapy Service under the direction of the Clinical Manager. The CYP therapist will be a part of a wider team of family support practitioners, VOICE practitioners, Specialist Practitioner/s and Pathway Administrators. The postholder will also need to be able to work at outreach sites across BNSGG and BANES which upholds TGHs mission to be more accessible to families. The practitioner must be self-governing as lone working is always a possibility.

About Adolescent Health Study

The Adolescent Health Study (AHS) is an ambitious new UKRI-funded initiative to establish a prospective, longitudinal population study that will generate a globally leading open science data platform and research resource. AHS aims to recruit at least 100,000 young people from across the UK and to follow their mental and physical health and wellbeing over at least 10 years. It plans to collect data through questions and measures; to obtain bio-samples for a wide range of genomic and other high-throughput assays; and to capture linked data relevant to health and wellbeing from participants’ health, education and other administrative records. There will be a strong emphasis on engaging with and involving young people, schools, parents and other relevant stakeholders in the design and delivery of the study, as well as on including young people that represent as wide as possible a range of backgrounds, experiences and characteristics. AHS will focus on enabling a wide range of research, including studies of the critical biological and social developments that occur during the transition from childhood to adulthood and the determinants of both mental and physical health and wellbeing in adolescents and young adults.
